The General Secretary (GS) of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi has said that the birth of Jesus Christ is good news because it signified the redemption of all humankind from the power of sin and the devil.
He said that the birth of Jesus also marked the reconciliation of humankind back to God.
Apostle Kumi-Larbi said this on Friday, December 22, 2018, when he fellowshipped with members of the Awoshie District in the Odorkor Area on Day 2 of the 2018 Christmas Convention at the McCarthy Hills School Grounds. The General Secretary was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Rose Dansoa Kumi-Larbi.
Speaking on the topic “Good News, Christ the Saviour Has Come” with Isaiah 9:6-7, Matthew 1:21 and Romans 3:20-23 as well as other Bible references, Apostle Kumi-Larbi stated that Jesus was born into the world with a purpose to serve all humankind from sin.
In his sermon, the General Secretary explained that God created humans in his own image because He wanted to have a relationship with them, however, due to sin, He could not relate to humans as He had wanted.
He stated that not only did humans lose their ability to commune with God after the fall, but they were also destined for eternal destruction since the wages of sin is death.
Apostle Kumi-Larbi said that God’s intention of bringing Jesus into the world was to reconcile humankind back to Him and move them from the path of eternal damnation to eternal life.
In view of this, Apostle Kumi-Larbi emphasized that Jesus is the only accredited saviour through whom any humankind could be saved. He said that no other being has been bequeathed with the power of salvation but Jesus, adding that “this is why the Son of Man has the power to forgive the sin of mankind.”
“The celebration of Christmas around the globe is a living testimony that indeed Jesus has been given to humankind and that anyone who believes in Him shall live, but anyone who does not receive Him, shall not live,” he said.
Apostle Kumi-Larbi, therefore, urged all and sundry to cling to Jesus Christ in order to be saved and enjoy eternal life.
“The good news is that Christ died for us all, but it is only those who will believe and receive Him that would share in this great joy,” he said.
An altar call after the sermon yielded 7 souls to the glory of God.
The Awoshie District Christmas Convention, which began on Thursday, December 20, 2018, is under the theme: “Jesus Christ, Born For The Nations” (Isaiah 9:6-7, Matthew 1:21).
Present at the event was the host minister, Pastor Paul Kingsley Quansah (Awoshie District Minister) and his wife, Mrs. Sarah Quansah.
The 2018 Christmas Convention is being observed at all branches of The Church of Pentecost across the globe.
