Bawku Area Commissions Borehole For Nintabugsuk Community

The Bawku Area of The Church of Pentecost, on April 3, 2026, commissioned and handed over a mechanized borehole to the Nintabugsuk community in the Tempane District of the Upper East Region.

The intervention forms part of the Church’s Vision 2028 agenda, which prioritises social transformation and community development.

The dedication ceremony was attended by the Area Head, Pastor Michael Akwasi Asante, and his wife, Mrs. Selina Asante; the District Chief Executive for Tempane, Hon. Joseph Mbilla Ayaaba; ministers and their spouses within the Garu Zone, led by Pastor Elijah Aduako Adufo; as well as community leaders.

Addressing the gathering, Pastor Michael Akwasi Asante expressed appreciation to the DCE for his support and emphasised the importance of water as a basic human necessity. He noted that the Church’s intervention was aimed at improving access to potable water for the community.

Drawing from John 6:5, he highlighted Jesus Christ’s concern for the holistic well-being of people, stressing that the Church remains committed to meeting both the spiritual and physical needs of society. He also urged the community to maintain the facility to ensure its sustainability.

Providing a background to the project, the Tempane District Minister, Overseer Simon Eli Kofi Lavoe, disclosed that the borehole was fully sponsored by Mr. Kwame Brefo Gyawu of Asokwa PIWC, following consultations with the community leadership. Construction began in February 2025 and was completed in March 2026.

In his remarks, Hon. Ayaaba commended the Church for its continuous contribution to national development, describing the project as timely and impactful. He noted that the initiative complements government efforts in providing potable water in the district and urged the community to take good care of the facility.

The ceremony concluded with the unveiling of a plaque by Mrs. Selina Asante, after which the borehole was dedicated to God and officially handed over to the community.

Prison Council Engages Presidency Over Prison Reforms web

Prison Council Engages Presidency Over Prison Reforms

The Chairman of the Prisons Service Council, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, has called for urgent government intervention to address critical challenges facing the Ghana Prisons Service. According to him, the prions work should be taken serious as missions work.

Delivering a speech during a courtesy call on the President at the Jubilee House on April 14, 2026, the Prisons Council Chairman outlined a comprehensive overview of the Service’s operations, highlighting both notable achievements and pressing concerns.

He was accompanied by the Minister of the Interior, Hon. Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka; the Director-General of the Ghana Prisons Service, Mrs Patience Baffoe-Bonnie (Esq.); and other Council members.

Apostle Kumi-Larbi indicated that while the Ghana Prisons Service has made strides in areas such as inmate rehabilitation, healthcare delivery, and security enhancement, persistent issues continue to undermine its effectiveness. Chief among these are inadequate budgetary allocation, severe prison overcrowding, poor staff accommodation, and obsolete logistics.

According to the Chairman, Ghana’s prisons currently house over 15,000 inmates across 44 facilities, with an overcrowding rate nearing 50 percent. Some facilities reportedly operate at more than double their capacity, creating security and humanitarian concerns.

Apostle Kumi-Larbi further revealed that delays in payments to food suppliers, with some exceeding a year, are threatening inmate feeding, while outstanding medical bills risk disrupting healthcare services for inmates and officers. The situation, he cautioned, could trigger unrest within prison facilities and strain national security systems.

Despite these challenges, the Service, he noted, has recorded significant progress, including improved inmate classification systems, enhanced healthcare through the establishment of a Health Directorate, expanded vocational training programmes, and strengthened security through specialised units such as intelligence, rapid response, and counter-terrorism teams.

A major highlight of the address was the introduction of the “Think Prisons 360 Degrees Transformational Agenda,” a reform blueprint aimed at modernising the Service into a self-sustaining and human rights-compliant institution.

Under this initiative, he disclosed that the Service has secured a landmark agreement with the Ministry of Education to produce at least 30 percent of school uniforms and furniture, as well as 25 percent of sanitary pads. The Council described this as a breakthrough that will boost inmate skills development and generate revenue.

Looking ahead, the Council proposed several measures to improve operations, including the completion of a 2000-capacity remand prison at Nsawam, acquisition of modern security equipment, expansion of prison infrastructure, and digitalisation of inmate management systems.

He also called for reforms such as the passage of the Parole and Community Service Bills to reduce congestion, improved conditions of service for prison officers, and increased recruitment of professionals, including medical personnel and technical instructors.

Apostle Kumi-Larbi concluded by reaffirming the Council’s commitment to supporting government efforts in strengthening national security, public safety, and the rehabilitation of offenders.

He expressed optimism that with the President’s support, the Ghana Prisons Service can be transformed into a model corrections system in Africa.

The sermon was delivered by the Area Head on the theme, “In the Last Days, I Will Pour Out My Spirit on All Flesh,” based on Ezekiel 36:25–27 and Joel 2:28–29. He admonished both teachers and students to be circumspect in their conduct and to recognise the great potential God has placed within them, so they would not live like slaves when God has destined them for greatness.

Emphasising the promise of the Holy Spirit to all flesh, the Area Head urged the students to desire the baptism of the Holy Spirit. The response was overwhelming, reminiscent of the experience on the Day of Pentecost.

At the close of the programme, 232 students received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, evidenced by speaking in tongues, while 305 souls were won to Christ. The atmosphere was filled with a strong sense of God’s presence, leaving participants spiritually refreshed and impacted.

La Area Honours Four Long-Serving Officers At Retirement Service

The Avenor District of The Church of Pentecost in the La Area was filled with gratitude and solemn reflection on Sunday, April 12, 2026, as four devoted officers were honoured for their long-standing service to the Church.

The retirees—Elder Emmanuel Oppong Owusu (44 years), Elder David Bronya Ntimah (30 years), Deaconess Beatrice Omari Asare (37 years), and Deaconess Christiana Oppong Owusu (33 years)—collectively served the Church for an impressive 144 years in various leadership roles.

Delivering a sermon titled “Crossing the Jordan,” the La Area Head, Apostle Dr. Dieudonne K. Nuekpe, drew inspiration from Joshua 4:1-7, likening the journey of the retirees to that of Joshua, who succeeded Moses and led the Israelites across the Jordan River. He noted that just as Joshua encountered challenges, including the overflowing Jordan, the honoured officers had also navigated the “wilderness of leadership” over several decades.

“Some were not able to cross their own Jordan, and others were halted along the way. But anyone who, by grace, has journeyed through leadership for over four decades, serving under different administrations, deserves to be acknowledged and commended,” he stated.

Apostle Nuekpe described the occasion as a “memorial stone,” urging the Church and future generations to draw inspiration from the faithfulness and dedication of the retirees.

While celebrating their transition from active leadership, he reminded them that their ultimate goal remains eternal life, not retirement. He encouraged them to continue supporting the Church through prayer and wise counsel, cautioning against any actions that could hinder emerging leadership. He also advised current leaders to serve diligently while they have the strength and opportunity.

He concluded with an exhortation from 1 Corinthians 15:58, urging all to remain steadfast and committed to the work of the Lord, assuring them that their labour in the Lord is not in vain.

The service, hosted by the Avenor District Minister, Pastor Edward Boakye, and his wife, with the support of the District Executive Committee, Presbytery, and the entire congregation, attracted several dignitaries. Among them were Apostle Yaw Agyei Kwarteng and his wife, Mrs. Bridget Agyei Kwarteng of the Kwadaso Area, retired ministers Pastor (Rtd.) George Kwesi Timinca and Pastor (Rtd.) Francis Amewugah with their spouses, as well as ministers from the La Area and beyond. Traditional leaders, including the Avenor Mantse and the Anum Chief, also graced the occasion with their entourage.

Jesus is the Only Accredited High Priest in Divinity & Humanity web.jpg

Jesus is the Only Accredited High Priest in Divinity & Humanity — Pastor Ameyaw Frempong

The Sepe-Buokrom District Minister of The Church of Pentecost, Pastor Stephen Ameyaw Frempong, has underscored that Jesus Christ is the only High Priest appointed by God and perfectly identified with humanity, mandated to redeem mankind from sin and its devastating effects.

He made this known during a sermon titled “Jesus Christ: The Accredited High Priest,” delivered under the overarching theme “Jesus Christ: Our High Priest,” at the 2026 New Tafo Zone Easter Convention held on Saturday morning, April 4, 2026, at the Buokrom Methodist School Park.

Quoting Hebrews 3:1 and 9:12, Pastor Ameyaw Frempong traced the origin of the broken relationship between humanity and God, explaining that the fall of man led to the departure of God’s glory, leaving humanity exposed and isolated. He noted that this separation created the need for a mediator to reconcile mankind to God, ultimately fulfilled through the birth and sacrificial death of Jesus Christ (Matthew 1:21).

“Humans are subject to sin and death. Just as high priests must first atone for their own sins before those of the people, they cannot be perfect mediators. Jesus Christ, being sinless and eternal, alone qualifies as the true High Priest for both God and humanity,” he stated.

Citing Hebrews 5:5–6 and Psalm 110:4, Pastor Ameyaw Frempong stressed that Jesus’ priesthood was divinely ordained, highlighting key attributes that affirm His accreditation, including His unique birth, sinless life, miraculous ministry, and the supernatural events surrounding His death and resurrection.

He emphasised that beyond His sacrificial role, Jesus Christ continues to intercede for believers, serving as an eternal High Priest. Pastor Ameyaw Frempong, therefore, urged Christians to remain steadfast in their faith and to lead lives marked by holiness and righteousness, as people redeemed by the Lord.

New Tafo Area Climaxes 2026 Easter Convention

The New Tafo Area of The Church of Pentecost has successfully concluded this year’s Easter Convention, held from Wednesday, April 1 to Sunday, April 5, 2026, under the theme “Jesus Christ: Our High Priest,” (Hebrews 3:1 and 9:11).

The convention, which was opened with the Festival of 11 Lessons and Passion Songs, took place across four zonal centres in the Area—New Tafo, Kenyasi, Mile 3, and Bonwire.

In a sermon to round off the event in the New Tafo Zone at the Buokrom Methodist School Park, the Area Head, Prophet Samuel Tetteh, spoke on the topic, “Jesus Christ: Our High Priest Is Risen.”

Drawing from Matthew 28:1–7, he explained that while the natural decomposition of the body after death is common to all humans, Jesus Christ, though fully human, did not experience corruption when He died and was buried.

“Jesus never saw corruption,” he emphasised, indicating that Christ’s body was divinely preserved, culminating in His resurrection on the third day. He noted that unlike the priests of Israel who died and remained in the grave, Jesus rose from the dead, affirming His eternal priesthood.

Prophet Tetteh Doku further stated that, following His resurrection and ascension, Christ continually intercedes for believers and grants them access to the throne of grace. He added that believers have also been equipped with spiritual enablement for service.

According to him, believers now carry apostolic power to overcome life’s challenges and prophetic grace for multiplication and fruitfulness. He explained that the authority to forgive sins, the revelation of God as Father, and guidance in prayer are all made possible through Christ’s priestly ministry.

Though not from the tribe of Levi, the New Tafo Area Head indicated that Christ was appointed by God, rendering His priesthood superior. Quoting Hebrews 7:26–28, he described Christ as holy, blameless, and set apart from sinners, making Him uniquely qualified for the role.

Prophet Tetteh Doku mentioned that while the high priests of Israel repeatedly offered sacrifices, including for their own sins, Jesus offered Himself once and for all as a perfect sacrifice.

He concluded by affirming that the power in the name of Jesus is anchored in the reality that He is alive, giving believers confidence for victorious Christian living.

A total attendance of 6,292 was recorded at the New Tafo Zone, with 24 souls won and 61 persons receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Youth Director Pays Courtesy Visit to Burkina Faso

The Youth Director of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Dr. Ebenezer Hagan, has paid a courtesy visit to Burkina Faso during the church’s National Youth Conference, held from March 24–31, 2026, in Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso.

During the impactful visit, Apostle Hagan ministered extensively on the 2026 theme of the Church, highlighting its relevance to young people in today’s dynamic and ever-evolving world. His teachings focused on key pillars, including The Father’s Blessing, where he underscored the importance of spiritual inheritance, divine approval, and covenantal backing in the life of every believer.

He also held strategic sessions with both the church leadership and the youth ministry, addressing Holistic Youth Development. He stressed that young people must grow not only spiritually but also intellectually, professionally, emotionally, and socially, noting that the Church is intentional about raising balanced individuals who are grounded in Christ and impactful in every sphere of life.

Touching on The Portrait of the Youth We Are Raising, Apostle Hagan described a generation marked by discipline, godliness, purpose, and excellence—young people who remain steadfast in truth and are led by the Spirit, regardless of societal pressures.

Closely related was his presentation on The Portrait of the Youth Ministry We Want to Build—a vibrant, Spirit-filled, purpose-driven, and relevant ministry that intentionally disciples, equips, and empowers young people to possess their world for Christ.

He was accompanied by a delegation of Youth Ministry workers, including Pastors Gordon Ansah (National Youth Secretary), Philip Pascal Asiedu (NEC Member), David Arthur (PENSA Travelling Secretary, Upper East Sector), and Pastor George Osei (PENSA Travelling Secretary, Upper West Sector). Their presence underscored the unity, collaboration, and shared vision within the ministry across nations.

Stop Doubting and Believe web.jpg

Stop Doubting and Believe – Apostle Sanpha Charges Christians

The National Head of The Church of Pentecost in Sierra Leone, Apostle More Sanpha, has urged Christians to overcome doubt and develop solid faith in Jesus Christ, describing doubt as a major hindrance to spiritual growth.

He made this charge on Sunday, April 12, 2026, during a sermon on the topic “Believe” at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC) in Freetown, drawing from John 20:24–29.

Apostle Sanpha explained that Jesus Christ has fully accomplished the work of redemption, restoring humanity’s relationship with God and granting believers direct access to Him. He stressed that since Christ has done everything necessary for salvation, believers must take personal responsibility for their spiritual lives.

“If you are not successful, do not blame Jesus, but yourself,” he stated, noting that doubt weakens faith and affects the efficacy of prayer.

Describing doubt as an enemy of spiritual progress, he urged Christians to heed Jesus’ words to Thomas to stop doubting and believe, and to walk in the blessings secured through Christ.

He further emphasised that Christianity is personal and requires consistency. “Revival must start with you before it spreads to your family,” he said.

Citing Romans 3:23, Apostle Sanpha reiterated the need for a Saviour, fulfilled in Jesus Christ, while lamenting that many believers fail to practise the Word they hear.

Referencing Hebrews 11 and Ephesians 1:3, he encouraged Christians to live by faith and remain confident in the spiritual blessings available in Christ.

Also present were Pastor Ivan Fayama Turay, Resident Minister of PIWC Freetown; Pastor Dr. Felix Dela Klutse, Director of the Pent Media Centre; and Deacon Joseph Attoh, who are in the country for media training sessions.
