Shanghai District Climaxes Easter Convention with Spirit-Filled Grand Celebration

The Church of Pentecost (COP) China, Shanghai District, successfully climaxed its 2026 Easter Convention with a vibrant celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The four-day event, which began on Thursday, April 2, 2026, concluded on Sunday afternoon, April 5, 2026, with an in-person service held at the Shanghai City Worship Centre (SCWC) and streamed live via the e-church module for members who could not attend physically.

The auditorium of the Shanghai City Worship Centre was filled with approximately one hundred congregants drawn from various Assemblies across the District, including Jiangsu City Worship Centre (JCWC), Nanjing PIWC, and Anhui City Worship Centre (ACWC).

Members travelled from different parts of the district to commemorate the triumphant resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Saviour of humanity. The earlier sessions of the convention were held virtually to accommodate the geographically dispersed membership across the eastern provinces of China.

The District Minister, Probationary Overseer Dr Wisdom Dewortor, opened the convention with a sermon on the theme, “The Rugged Cross: The Sinner’s Joy.” In his message, he expounded on the significance of the cross as a symbol of redemption and outlined the events leading to Christ’s crucifixion, including His condemnation, suffering, and ultimate sacrifice.

He emphasised that Jesus’ death cancelled the debt of sin and disarmed the powers of darkness, urging believers to strengthen their faith in God and remain vigilant against the schemes of the enemy.

During the climax service on Sunday, Elder Anokye-Wusu delivered a prophetic exhortation reminding believers of the victory secured through the finished work of Christ on the cross. The message encouraged members to remain steadfast in their relationship with the Lord and to trust in the peace, healing, and victory made available through Christ’s sacrifice.

Also ministering during the service, Elder Maxwell Aidoo preached on the topic, “The Rugged Cross Where the Sinner Finds Joy, Victory and a New Life,” based on Colossians 2:13-15. He explained that what was intended as an instrument of shame became a symbol of victory through Christ’s death and resurrection.

According to him, through Christ’s sacrifice, believers have been reconciled to God, forgiven of their sins, and empowered to live victorious lives as members of a royal priesthood.

The congregation was later led in fervent prayers by Brother Eugene Ray, the National Intercessory Team Leader, creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere marked by unity and renewed devotion.

The convention also reflected the multicultural nature of the Shanghai District, bringing together believers from diverse national and cultural backgrounds. The participation of members from francophone nations enriched the worship experience, with special song ministrations by Dr Anasia Elingaya Saria and the Swahili Band.

The live streaming of services through the e-church module, facilitated by Dr. Philip Amor Narh and the District Media Ministry, enabled members across distant locations to participate fully in the convention.

As the convention ended, members departed with renewed faith, strengthened hope, and a deeper appreciation of the redemptive work of Christ, committed to carrying the message of His finished work into their respective communities.

Apostle Nsaful Urges Believers To Offer Spiritual “Spices” To Christ web.jpg

Apostle Nsaful Urges Believers To Offer Spiritual “Spices” To Christ

Apostle Daniel Yeboah Nsaful, Old Tafo Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, has called on Christians to “carry their spices to the tomb of Jesus” as a demonstration of a life that is pleasing to God.

He made this call on Easter Sunday while preaching to members of the Old Tafo Zone in the Old Tafo Area during the Easter celebrations held under the theme, “He Is Risen,” based on John 19:30.

In his message, Apostle Nsaful highlighted the significance of the actions of the three women – Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome – who visited the tomb of Jesus early on Easter morning with spices to anoint His body. He explained that their act symbolised devotion, commitment, and reverence, qualities that remain relevant to the Christian faith today.

According to him, spices have historically been used as preservatives to prevent decay, and the women’s intention to preserve the body of Jesus reflected their deep love and honour for Him. However, he noted that their expectation was surpassed when they discovered that Jesus had risen from the dead. Apostle Nsaful encouraged believers to develop what he described as a “spicy mindset,” explaining that the Body of Christ must continually exhibit virtues that prevent spiritual decay and enable Christianity to transform lives and impact society.

He further observed that the women’s early visit to the tomb demonstrated their commitment to prioritising the Kingdom of God. He therefore urged believers, particularly women in the Church, to emulate their example by placing God’s work above all other pursuits and remaining faithful in service to the Kingdom.

Speaking on the benefits of Christ’s resurrection, Apostle Nsaful stated that the resurrection calls for a transformed lifestyle that clearly distinguishes believers from unbelievers. He reminded the congregation that having received the Gospel of Salvation, Christians must fully embrace the message of the Kingdom to strengthen and sustain their faith.

He also addressed issues affecting Christian growth, noting that truthfulness, discipline, and self-control are areas where many believers face challenges. He particularly cautioned the youth against the pursuit of quick wealth, urging them to embrace patience, make wise decisions, and combine prayer with diligent effort as part of their reasonable service to God. Apostle Nsaful concluded by charging believers to rise to righteousness and holy living, emphasising that since Christ has risen, Christians must reflect His resurrection through godly conduct and unwavering faith.

Only Christ Can Cleanse – Prophet Beditor Reveals

The Obuasi Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Prophet David Kankam Beditor, has called on believers to depend solely on Jesus Christ for forgiveness and salvation, stressing that no one can cleanse themselves from sin.

Speaking on Saturday, April 4, 2026, during the Obuasi Area’s 2026 Easter Convention at the Obuasi Bidieso Zone on the topic, “Divine Exchange,” he explained that Jesus Christ, though sinless, took upon Himself the sins of humanity to bring redemption.

Quoting 1 Corinthians 5:21, Prophet Beditor noted that Christ “knew no sin” yet became sin for mankind, making it possible for believers to receive righteousness through Him.

Drawing from Leviticus 14, he likened the condition of a sinner to that of a leprous person in the Old Testament—unclean, isolated, and unable to restore themselves.

“In the Old Testament, a leprous person was considered unclean and was cast outside the city because of the contagious nature of the disease. They could not declare themselves clean; they had to present themselves to the priest for approval,” he explained.

He stressed that just as lepers depended on the priest for cleansing, sinners today must turn to Jesus Christ, who serves as the ultimate High Priest.

“The one who does not know Christ is like a leprous person. You cannot cleanse yourself. You must present yourself to Jesus, our High Priest, who alone can declare you free,” he stated.

Prophet Beditor further affirmed that Jesus Christ is the only one with the authority to forgive sins and grant victory over death.

“God has given Him the power over death and Hades. He alone has the authority to forgive sins and set us free,” he added.

He concluded by urging believers and non-believers alike to rely fully on Jesus Christ for forgiveness and transformation, describing Him as the only gateway to true spiritual freedom.

Christ Paid Humanity’s Debt in Full, Apostle Acheampong Declares

The Effiduase Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Stephen Okyere Acheampong, has assured Christians that Jesus Christ has fully paid the debt of sin, emphasising that believers no longer owe anything for their salvation because Christ has completed the work of redemption.

He gave this assurance at the climax of the Effiduase Zone Easter Convention, held at the forecourt of the Ebenezer Assembly on Sunday, April 5, 2026.

Drawing from Colossians 2:13-14, Isaiah 53:1-4, 2 Corinthians 5:21, and John 19:28-30, Apostle Acheampong explained that salvation involved a divine transaction in which Jesus paid the full price for humanity’s sins. According to him, Christ’s declaration on the cross that “it is finished” signifies that the payment for sin has been completed, leaving nothing more for humanity to settle.

He noted that although Christians have no debt to pay for their salvation, they can demonstrate gratitude to God through offerings, worship, songs of praise, and by dedicating their entire lives to His service. He urged believers to live faithfully with the expectation of the Lord’s return.

To illustrate his message, Apostle Acheampong used the analogy of a convicted prisoner who must either serve a sentence or pay a fine before being released. He explained that until a penalty is fully served or paid, freedom cannot be granted. In the same way, he said, judgment came upon humanity in the Garden of Eden as recorded in Genesis 3, making mankind prisoners of sin under the bondage of Satan.

He further explained that just as a prisoner cannot free another prisoner, no human being could save another from the penalty of sin, which leads to death. Humanity, he noted, could not meet God’s standard of holiness because of sin and therefore could not stand justified before Him.

According to Apostle Acheampong, it was for this reason that Jesus Christ came to suffer on behalf of humanity to secure their release from the penalty of sin. He stressed that Christ’s finished work covers the past, present, and future, assuring believers of complete salvation.

Concluding his message, Apostle Acheampong encouraged Christians to remain bold in their faith and to confront the enemy with confidence, reminding them to declare “it is finished” whenever they face spiritual opposition.

The event was attended by the Member of Parliament for New Juaben North Constituency, Hon. Nana Osei Adjei, and the immediate past Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben North, Hon. Comfort Asante.

Christ’s Resurrection is The Greatest Miracle in History web.jpg

Christ’s Resurrection is The Greatest Miracle in History – Chairman Declares

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has described the resurrection of Jesus Christ as the greatest miracle in human history.

He made this statement during a Resurrection Sunday service at the Obuasi Bidieso Zone in the Obuasi Area, where he emphasised that the event remains the foundation of Christian ministry and the ultimate demonstration of God’s power.

Speaking on the theme, “The Legacy of the Resurrection of Christ,” Apostle Nyamekye explained that legacy refers to a lasting impact or enduring inheritance. He noted that Christ’s resurrection represents the abiding results and spiritual heritage of His redemptive work.

“The legacy of the resurrection is the enduring impact of Christ’s victory over death,” he stated.

He stressed that the resurrection is the central truth of the gospel and the core of the Christian faith, adding that Christ’s power to lay down His life and take it again is unmatched.

Apostle Nyamekye acknowledged that the resurrection can be difficult for the natural mind to comprehend, often leading to skepticism. However, he maintained that it remains the sustaining power of the believer and the basis for effective Christian ministry.

He further explained that Christ’s death and resurrection provide deeper understanding of Old Testament practices, including animal sacrifices and symbolic elements such as the scarlet thread.

Addressing events surrounding Christ’s burial, he noted that both human and spiritual forces attempted to prevent the resurrection, referencing the sealing and guarding of the tomb. Despite these efforts, he affirmed that God’s power prevailed.

He also dismissed claims that the resurrection was fabricated, insisting that it is a well-attested historical fact. He cited the empty tomb, the grave clothes, Christ’s post-resurrection appearances, and His ascension as compelling evidence.

Apostle Nyamekye urged believers to live as witnesses of the resurrection through transformed lives.

“The surest proof of the resurrection is a changed life,” he concluded.

The Cross Of Christ Brings Salvation And Redemption To Humanity web.jpg

“The Cross Of Christ Brings Salvation And Redemption To Humanity” – Pastor Nelson Adu

The Resident Minister for the James McKeown Worship Centre (JMWC) in the Sakumono Area of The Church of Pentecost, Pastor Nelson Adu, has emphasised that the cross of Jesus Christ carries a message of salvation and redemption for all who believe in Him.

He made this assertion when he delivered a sermon on Friday evening, April 2, 2026, during the Easter Convention organised for the English Zone of the Sakumono Area. The convention forms part of this year’s Easter celebrations held under the theme, “The Crucified Jesus Christ Has Risen,” based on Matthew 28:2-7, Mark 16:5-7, and Luke 24:6-7.

Speaking on the sub-theme, “The Journey from the Garden of Eden to the Garden of Gethsemane,” Pastor Nelson Adu drew significant parallels between the two biblical gardens and highlighted the spiritual benefits humanity received through the events at Gethsemane. He explained that while the fall of humanity occurred in the Garden of Eden, the decisive defeat of Satan began in the Garden of Gethsemane, referencing Genesis 3:1-26 and Matthew 26:36-56.

According to him, Adam sinned in Eden, but Jesus Christ, described as the last Adam, suffered in Gethsemane to atone for the sins of humanity. He noted that although Adam and Eve failed in Eden, Jesus triumphed in Gethsemane through His obedience to God’s will. Pastor Nelson further explained that the troubles, pain, sorrow, sickness, and death that began in Eden found their answer in Gethsemane, where Jesus bore the burdens of humanity and secured joy, deliverance, salvation, and life for all believers.

He also highlighted other contrasts between the two gardens, noting that the conflict in Eden took place during the day, while the struggle in Gethsemane occurred at night. He added that while humanity was lost through Adam’s fall in Eden, victory was secured in Gethsemane through Christ’s submission. He further explained that whereas Adam was cursed to labour and sweat because of sin, Jesus’ intense agony in Gethsemane caused His sweat to fall like drops of blood upon the cursed ground, symbolising redemption.

Pastor Nelson Adu concluded by recounting the arrest of Jesus in Gethsemane, explaining that He was taken before Annas and later Caiaphas, where He was falsely accused and condemned despite His innocence. He stressed that Christ endured these trials for the sins of humanity, culminating in His crucifixion for the redemption of mankind.

Christ’s Death Brought Salvation And Victory, Apostle Nuekpe Declares web.jpg

Christ’s Death Brought Salvation And Victory, Apostle Nuekpe Declares

Apostle Dr Dieudonne Komla Nuekpe, La Area Head and Executive Council Member of The Church of Pentecost, has stated that Christians do not mourn the death of Jesus Christ but celebrate it because it brought salvation and victory to humanity.

He made this assertion while preaching on Good Friday morning during the 2026 Easter Convention held at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC) Zone in the La Area.

According to Apostle Dr Nuekpe, the death of ordinary individuals in many communities often results in division, lasting pain, sorrow, and defeat. However, he explained that the death of Jesus Christ produced a different outcome, bringing salvation and hope to all mankind.

He emphasised that Christians celebrate rather than mourn because the death of Jesus secured victory for humanity. He noted that the death of Christ marked a turning point for mankind, replacing sorrow with joy through the salvation made available to all who believe in Him.

Using Matthew 28:1-7 as his main scriptural reference, Apostle Dr Nuekpe structured his message around the cause of Christ’s death, the significance of His death, the proof of His resurrection, and the responsibility that follows His sacrifice.

He explained that Jesus died to grant humanity forgiveness of sins, reconciliation with God, and the promise of eternal life. According to him, these blessings demonstrate the depth of God’s love for mankind and the victory secured through Christ’s sacrifice on the cross.

The 2026 Easter Convention in the La Area was organised across six zones under the theme, “He Is Risen! That I May Transform Society Through the Gospel and the Power of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:6).

The PIWC Zone brought together members from PIWC Kokomlemle and PIWC French, Accra, for a joint convention conducted in both English and French languages. The gathering provided an opportunity for members from diverse linguistic backgrounds to worship together and reflect on the significance of Christ’s death and resurrection.

Believers Made Alive Through Christ’s Death web.jpg

Believers Made Alive Through Christ’s Death – Apostle Tawiah

The Tamale Area Head of The Church of Pentecost and member of the Executive Council, Apostle John Budu Kobena Tawiah, has stated that believers have been made alive through the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ on the cross.

He delivered the message during the climax of this year’s Easter Convention of the Tamale Central District, held under the theme, “Died with Christ, Alive with Him” (Romans 6:5–8, 11).

Apostle Tawiah traced the theological foundation of the theme to Romans Chapter Five, where the Apostle Paul explains how sin entered the world through Adam and spread to all humanity, while grace came through the death of Jesus Christ for the justification of those who believe (Romans 5:12–15). He noted that in Romans Chapter Six, Paul cautions believers against continuing in sin under the excuse of abundant grace (Romans 6:1–2).

According to Apostle Tawiah, believers are called to live above sin because they have died to it. “If we have died to sin, we cannot continue to live in it,” he stated, citing Romans 6:6 and 1 John 3:9. He explained that through Christ, believers have died, been buried and resurrected into a new life.

He further explained that water baptism symbolises this profound spiritual experience, with immersion into water representing burial and rising from it (Romans 6:4). As a result, the believer who has been crucified with Christ no longer lives according to the old way of life but walks in newness of life, as described in 2 Corinthians 5:17.

Apostle Tawiah highlighted several transformations that accompany this new life in Christ. These include dying to the old self (Colossians 3:3–5), crucifying the former way of life (Ephesians 4:22–24), deliverance from the power of sin, and participation in the resurrection life of Christ (Romans 6:5; Ephesians 2:4–6). He stressed that believers have received a new identity created in the likeness of God and must allow themselves to be continually transformed into that image (Ephesians 4:24).

He noted that every believer has a past life, referred to as the “old self,” but through Christ, believers are being conformed to the image of the Son of God (Romans 8:29). Just as Christ took on human nature, believers are being transformed towards a divine character, he explained.

The Tamale Area Head further urged believers to live resurrected lives, empowered to overcome sin and reflect transformed living. Because believers are seated with Christ in heavenly places, he encouraged them to set their hearts and minds on things above (Ephesians 2:6; Colossians 3:1–3; Philippians 3:20). He cautioned against the corruption of the world, stating that resurrected believers are called to live distinct and holy lives.

He concluded by urging believers to demonstrate through their daily conduct that they have truly been made alive in Christ, showing evidence of being a new creation.

Present at the service were Mrs Agartha Tawiah, wife of the Area Head; Pastor Jonah Sei and his wife Grace; as well as officers and members of the Tamale Central District.

Agona Swedru Area Head Declares Victory Of Christ’s Finished Work web

Agona Swedru Area Head Declares Victory Of Christ’s Finished Work

The Agona Swedru Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Pastor Adjei-Nimako Darkwa, delivered a message centred on the theme, “It Is Finished,” drawn from John 19:28–30, during the Good Friday session of the Area’s Easter Convention.

Expounding on the significance of Jesus’ final words on the cross, Pastor Darkwa explained that the term “finished” originates from the Greek word Tetelestai, a term commonly used in accounting to signify that a debt had been fully paid. He noted that Christ’s declaration was not an expression of defeat but a triumphant proclamation that the debt of sin owed by humanity had been completely settled.

According to the Area Head, the death of Jesus Christ signified that every sin had been judged and the full price for humanity’s redemption had been paid at the cross. He emphasised that Christ accomplished His divine mission on earth without leaving any unfinished work regarding salvation. “It is finished,” he explained, represents a victorious conclusion to God’s redemptive plan rather than a lament over failure.

Pastor Darkwa further explained that humanity’s need for salvation began with Adam’s disobedience, which brought sin upon the human race and resulted in separation from God. He noted that this separation led to condemnation and spiritual distance from the Creator, highlighting the gravity of sin’s consequences on mankind.

He also reflected on how, during the Old Testament period, God instituted laws and various sacrifices to manage sin among the Israelites. These included major offerings such as burnt, grain, fellowship, sin, and guilt offerings, as well as other related sacrifices performed regularly. However, he pointed out that these sacrifices only provided temporary covering for sin and foreshadowed a greater and permanent solution.

Drawing attention to Christ’s ultimate sacrifice, Pastor Darkwa stated that the numerous sacrifices of the Old Testament pointed to Jesus Christ, whose death and resurrection provided the perfect and final offering for sin. He explained that through Christ’s finished work, believers now have direct access to God and can approach Him with confidence and praise.

He concluded by highlighting the significance of Christ’s death and resurrection, noting that through His sacrifice, humanity has been redeemed from sin, reconciled to God, delivered from the power of Satan, and freed from the curse of sin. The message served as a reminder to believers that the declaration “It is finished” stands as a testimony of victory, redemption, and the completeness of God’s saving work through Jesus Christ.
