A couple, Elder Kenneth Nana Amoateng and Mrs. Vera Nana Yaa Amoateng, of Tema Community 1 Assembly of The Church of Pentecost, has given birth to a set of five children after enduring eight (8) years of a childless marriage.

The quintuplet is made up of four beautiful girls and a bouncing baby boy. They are Kezia, Kendalyn, Kenia, Kendra, and Kenaniah. They were named and dedicated on Sunday, November 8, 2020, by the Tema Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Matthew Larbi Wettey, assisted by Pastor John Mensah Yanney of Tema Community 1 District.

Elder Nana Amoateng, who is currently the Presiding Elder of the Community 1 Assembly, expressed his immense joy and gratitude to God for the miracle he and his wife have received.

Speaking to PENTECOST NEWS, Elder Nana Amoateng who works with a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), said he got married to Vera in October 2013 full of expectations to be blessed with the seed of the womb. However, they kept on counting the days and the years but without any sign of conception.

He said that though it was not easy they trusted and believed God for a miracle. In October 2019, his wife conceived and gave birth to the quintuplet in May 2020.

Two ministers of The Church of Pentecost in the Berekum Area and their families escaped a near disaster on Sunday morning [October 18, 2020] when fire gutted their mission house. The fire outbreak started at the time the pastors and their families were away at church.

Pastor Samuel Essel of Biadan District and Pastor Solomon Azagisiya of Berekum PIWC who share the same mission house with separate apartments returned from church on Sunday only to see that the whole house was in thick smoke. The fire which was suspected to have started from one of the corridors lasted for more than an hour before it was put out.

Miraculously, the fire could not spread beyond the corridor. However, everything around the source of the fire was burnt to ashes. The victims and the eyewitnesses who came around attested to the fact that but for the intervention of the Lord God Almighty, the whole house would have been engulfed in the blaze.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service in Berekum responded quickly to the distress call and helped to fight the fire.

Meanwhile, the cause of the fire outbreak was suspected to be an electrical fault.

The two families were thankful to God for His intervention in the situation.

One of the unpleasant and disturbing situations one can ever encounter in life is to have married for ten years without the gift of a child and that was exactly the situation of Elder Benjamin Ebenezer Asamoah and his wife, Mrs Esther Asamoah of Grace Assembly in the Yennyawoso District of The Church of Pentecost until God intervened by blessing them with a son.

Speaking to PENTECOST NEWS at the naming and dedication ceremony of the child, which was officiated by the District Minister, Pastor Charles Oduro, on Sunday, September 20, 2020, the couple revealed that the state of childlessness took them to many hospitals but to no avail.

Elder Asamoah said that “when all human efforts to conceive proved futile, we resorted to prayer and trusted God for a miracle. One day my wife and I went to the District Pastor, informed him of our plight and beseeched him for prayer support which he gladly obliged. He encouraged us to bank our hope on God and subsequently prayed fervently for us. With continuous prayers, the Lord has glorified Himself by gifting us with a son.”

Sharing their testimony, the elated couple expressed their gratitude to the Almighty God for His eventual blessings and encouraged all those who are in such situations to keep trusting God for His intervention at the appointed season.

Present at the ceremony was Pastor Anthony Kwesi Mensah, (Resident Minister, PIWC – New Tafo), among others.

A couple, Mr. Daniel and Mrs. Kate Anyane-Lah, members of Housing Down Central Assembly in the Madina Area of The Church of Pentecost, who have remained childless for 20 years, has given birth to a set of twins.

Three months after the blessing of their marriage on 5^th August, 2000, Kate conceived but suffered a miscarriage in the early stage of the pregnancy. After that unfortunate incident, the couple did everything humanly and medically possible to conceive again but to no avail.

They described the humiliations they had to endure from friends, some Church members, and even family members as “unbearable.” At a point, they even decided not to move forward whenever childless couples were called out for prayers.

For twenty years of their marriage, they spent a huge percentage of their income on medications, hopping from one hospital to another, including fertility hospitals, with the sole aim of having a child.

In 2015, they were made to undergo a surgery called Laparoscopy and were promised that they will conceive within two months but it yielded no positive result. At a point, a doctor taking care of them at one of the hospitals said to them: “What else do you want from me? I have done all that is medically possible for you.”  While going home that day, Kate was nearly hit by a vehicle while standing right in the middle of the road unaware.

But to the glory of God, in September 2019 during a prayer session organised by the Women’s Ministry which was led by the District Pastor, Mrs. Anyane-Lah encountered divine grace and her menstrual cycle ceased. Upon visiting the hospital, she was told at the first examination that it was a menopausal symptom because she was 44 years. But a test conducted later showed that she had picked a seed. They did not believe the report so they had to test it three more times by themselves for confirmation with a pregnancy test kit.

It is marvelous that the pregnancy turned out to be twins (two females). Due to her age, she encountered some medical challenges during the pregnancy but God graciously took her through till delivery on 15^th May, 2020. The children were named on 19^th September, 2020.

Mrs Martha Konja, a member of Nkyenenkyene Central Assembly in the Nkyenenkyene District of The Church of Pentecost, has been miraculously healed of breast cancer.

According to her, she started feeling heaviness and intense pain in her left breast in the last week of June 2020, which gave her sleepless nights for weeks. Subsequently, the breast began to swell and the pain became unbearable for her.

As a result, her family took her to the Krachi West District Hospital where she was diagnosed with breast cancer and referred to the Ho Teaching Hospital (Trafalgar) for medication.

Mrs Konja reported the sad situation to her District Minister, Overseer Frank Amoako Henneh, who assured her of God’s divine touch in difficult situations. He further arranged for three days fasting and prayers with the woman. The pain in the breast and the swelling stopped when she was being prayed for by the District Minister during the “Tweaduapon Nwunu Ase” Prayer meeting. Her affected breast was restored to its normal size after prayers.

Upon reaching the Ho Teaching Hospital, she was declared healed as no cancer was identified in her breast.

All glory to God for His divine intervention.

It was all joy at the Estate Assembly in the North Kaneshie District of The Church of Pentecost on Saturday, August 29, 2020, as Deacon Isaac Kofi Mensah, his wife, Mrs Lilian Mensah, and the entire church celebrated the birth of their newly born baby after ten years of marriage.

The couple who have been married for a decade without a child described their child as a miracle and a gift from God.

The christening and dedication ceremony for the baby was officiated by the District Minister, Pastor Evans Annaba Mensah, with support from the immediate-past District Minister, Pastor Franklin Agbovi Hushie (currently stationed at Ola District in Cape Coast Area), in whose tenure the baby was conceived.

In the brief but colourful and memorable event during which all COVID-19 safety protocols were adhered to, the District Welfare Chairman and a Children’s Ministry worker, Elder Michael Korletey admonished parents to train up their children in the fear of the Lord.

Reading from Proverbs 22:6, Elder Michael Korletey advised parents to be the first and ultimate role models to their children.

Thanking God for the gift of a child, the couple recounted the struggles and humiliation they had endured in the past ten years due to their inability to conceive.

“Although people kept saying things to my husband, he was resolute in his love for me and stood by me through it all. He never for once left me,” a teary Mrs Mensah said.

Mrs Lilian Mensah, also a Sunday School teacher at the Estate Assembly, expressed their appreciation to God for the wonderful gift of a child.

She thanked the ministers present, the District Presbytery, the North Kaneshie Estate Assembly Presiding Elder, Eric Okine, and the Local Presbytery for the support throughout the years.

An elated Deacon Mensah also added that “We thank God for what He has done for us. I want everyone gathered here today to believe that God is good, and He will come through for everyone at the right time. I am out of words to describe how grateful; we are to God.”

The baby was named Hepzibah Maame Afua Mensah and was dedicated to the glory of God.

Gameli Awudi, a 34-year-old renowned fetish priest who hails from Tsatee in the Kpalime District in the Ho Area of The Church of Pentecost, has surrendered to Christ.

Overseer Solomon Affram, the Kpalime District Minister, on a visit to the Tsatee local assembly on 26^th July, 2020, shared the gospel with Awudi, who had been practicing this craft for more than a decade and had many clients in the Volta Region and beyond.

Confessing after giving his life to Christ, he said that he used his numerous amulets to work against unbelievers and lukewarm Christians alike and had caused many atrocities with it.

However, upon hearing the word of God, he surrendered his life to Christ and gave up all his charms and idols to be burnt. He and his wife are now members of the Church.

Elder Alfred Kingsley Emad-Louis Nyhiraba Quaicoe, a member of the Nuaso Assembly in the Agormanya District of The Church of Pentecost, has escaped death after he was attacked by unknown assailants on his way home after a dawn broadcast in a nearby village at Kpong on 11^th April, 2020.

Narrating his ordeal, he said that he usually goes for dawn broadcast on Saturdays during his leisure time to preach the gospel message in the communities around the Kpong Water Works.

However, on that fateful day after the dawn broadcasting, while he was returning home, just about 200 meters to his house, he saw two men on a motorbike who passed by him, during which one of them said in pidgin English: “That be the guy.”

In the process, the two men rode back to where he was standing and stabbed him at the abdomen.

It took the grace of God to save his life after some people rushed him to the St Martins Hospital for medical attention.

We give glory to God for saving his life.

Mr Kammu Kassibe, a 35-year old idol worshipper, has accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and personal Saviour.

Mr Kassibe responded to the gospel on 3rd August 2020 during a house-to-house evangelism outreach undertaken by the Adubrim District of The Church of Pentecost.

According to him, he had been practising idolatry with his late father since he was about 12 years old. He also confessed to using the amulets and charms against many people, especially unbelievers, and also for others who came to him for assistance.

After surrendering to Christ, Mr Kassibe handed over all his amulets and charms to the Adubrim District Minister, Overseer Bismark Amoah, to be burnt.

Mr Kammu Kassibi, who lives at Dump, a small community near Adubrim, now fellowships with the Dump Assembly. To God be the glory!
