The Power of God Moves In ‘UCC For Christ Crusade’

The Spirit of God manifested greatly on Thursday night resulting in many signs and miracles during the opening session of the ‘You Must Be Born Again Crusade’ taking place at the Casford Field at the University of Cape Coast (UCC).

The crusade, dubbed “UCC For Christ,” is being organised by the University of Cape Coast Protestant & Pentecostal Chaplaincy Committee (PPCC), in collaboration with the Schools Outreach Ministry (SOM) of The Church of Pentecost, as part of the 60th Anniversary celebration of the university.

Under the theme, “Jesus Is Calling” (Matthew 11:28), the crusade is scheduled to end on Sunday, September 11, 2022, where the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, will address them.

Ministering on Day One on the theme, “Jesus Is Looking For You” – Luke 19:9-10, Genesis 3:8-9, and 2 Chronicles 16:9a, the Evangelism Ministry Director of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Dr. Amos Jimmy Markin, said that when sinners find Jesus, He shows them kindness, mercy, forgives their sins and offers them eternal life.

Reading from 2 Chronicles 19:9a, Apostle Dr. Markin stated that the eyes of God are roaming throughout the universe to show Himself strong to the incapacitated, saying, “Jesus is looking for man to save him.”

He added: “You are not a product of evolution, but God created you for Himself and for His pleasure to be obedient to His Word.”

The Evangelism Director explained that when the first Adam disobeyed God and experienced death, humanity, as the seed of Adam, died from birth. He urged the students to accept Jesus as their personal Lord and saviour because He was sent by God to seek and redeem every man from the repercussions of the disobedience of Adam.

“Without hesitation, every man born a sinner is already condemned. Therefore, the Son of Man has come to seek and save that which is lost. This is the reason why God sent Jesu to the earth,” he stated.

Apostle Dr. Jimmy Markin further noted that Jesus, born of a virgin was exchanged on the cross that was meant for Barabas, the notorious criminal at that time.

“That cross was meant for Barabas (us) but He took our cross that He would give us His crown. He took our shame that He would give us His glory; took our sin that He would give us His righteousness. He took us that He would give us forgiveness of sins; took our curse that He would give us His blessings and He is seeking for you,” he posited.

He then led the congregation in a session of intensive prayers which resulted in total healing of several people who came with the issues of abdominal pains, typhoid, breathing disorders, and many others through the manifestation of the Holy Spirit.
Speakers billed for the crusade include Apostle Eric Nyamekye (Chairman, CoP), Apostle Samuel Yaw Antwi (Cape Coast Area Head, CoP), Apostle Nana Yaw Agyei (Kade Area Head, CoP), Pastor Ebenezer Hagan (Youth Ministry Director, CoP), Pastor Pastor Kingsley Addai (Resident Minister of PIWC-Accra), Pastor Frank Akonnor (Resident Campus Pastor of UCC), Probationary Overseer Dr. Patrick Adonoo (PENSA International Co-ordinator), and Elder Seth Yaw Peasah (CoP El-Bethel Prayer Camp Leader, Ho).

As part of the sessions, students of the university will be taken through empowerment sessions on Financial and Leadership, led by Overseer Professor Joseph Osafo Adu (Resident Minister of Rhema Worship Centre, East Legon), Pastor Benedict Eghan (Personal Assistant to the Chairman of the CoP), and Elder Paul Kofi Mante (Head of Ecobank EDC).

Also ministering in songs are Uncle Ato, Pastor Joe Beechem, Mrs Grace Gakpetor, Elder Emma Arthur, Elder Emma Danquah, Minister Gyasi Addo Jnr. and Christiana Attafuah.

Present at the opening session were Professor Aaron Asare (Chairman of Crusade Committee, UCC), Rev. Professor Kankam Boanuh (Chairman, Chaplaincy Board, UCC), Rev. Dr. Benjamin Amoaning (Chaplain, Protestant & Pentecostal Chaplaincy), Rev. Dr. Patrick Quampah (Secretary to Chaplaincy Board, UCC), Rev. Dr. Tackie (Crusade Finance Chairman), and all Presidents of Denomination in UCC.

“Fight No One Great Or Small, Fight The King!”

If an enemy can undermine the leadership of any group or a nation, he would eventually be able to undermine its people (followers or dependents), because everything (in this world) rises and falls on leadership as John C. Maxwell, an American leadership expert rightly puts it. Also, the scriptures have said, “Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered” (Zech. 13:7). This is how important leadership is to the survival and success of any group, whether great or small.

The King of Aram (Syria) seems to have appreciated this very fact. Therefore, when he sent his men out to war with Israel, he instructed them, “Do not fight with anyone, small or great, except the king of Israel” (1 Kings 22:31). They went out and did as their master had commanded. They wounded the King of Israel, and that was the end. All day long the battle raged against the people of Israel because the king, the one who carried the authority of the Lord to execute judgement and justice in Israel, had been eliminated (1 Kings 22:35).

The strategy to “fight the king only” has been the strategy of the devil (or enemy) throughout history. The enemy employed it against Adam when he made him transgress the Law of God by eating of the tree and subsequently brought a wreck on the very first home (marriage) ever created on this earth. The consequences of this have lingered on to date.

The enemy employed this same strategy against David and made a wreck of one of the most powerful kingdoms in human history when he turned David’s son, Absalom against him. As they conspired against the King at one of their meetings, this is what the enemy planned, “Strike down the king and bring [colonize] all the people… [For] The death of the man [king] you seek will mean the return of all [his followers]” (2 Sam. 17:1-4).

Ultimately, the enemy employed this same strategy against Jesus Christ, the Lord and Saviour of the world and all the disciples deserted Him and fled (Matt. 26:56). This made many fearful and hopeless. It drove Christianity into darkness and silenced their faith until the King resurrected from the grave! Hallelujah!

The enemy continues to employ this same strategy in contemporary times. This is evident in some marriages and homes where wives fail to recognise the headship of their husbands, and children have become rebellious.

He is ruining our nations, eliminating respect for leadership in the name of democracy and “politics of insults” which has been enhanced by the sophisticated social media of our day. All one has to do is to put a camera in front of themselves and say whatever they think about dignitaries. Jude says, “Yet these people slander whatever they do not understand… Woe to them! (Jude 1:10-11)

He is making a wreck of the Church of the Living God. He is trying to eliminate her from the schools and the activities of the society as he introduces imposters into the leadership of the Church whose characters are nothing to write home about and making it look like all church leaders are corrupt, causing many to lose trust and interest in the Church and many others to speak ill of the Holy Church of the Living God.

As believers, we must endeavour to understand this battle strategy that the enemy has been subtly employing and continues to employ against leadership (authorities) all through history so that we do not join in his attack like Absalom did but understand that it is God who establishes authority; as such, those in authority are the Lord’s servants for good. They wield God’s authority (Rom. 13:1-6) so that we would submit to them like Joseph, Daniel, Nehemiah and Sarah did; petition God in prayers on their behalf as Apostle Paul instructs (1Tim. 2:1-4), and in wisdom and humility draw their attention to the possible flaws in their leadership like Nathan did with David (2Sam. 12:1-13).

Remember that we can address our issues and concerns to people in authority without undermining their authority. We can help our families, churches, organizations and Nations to succeed without buying into the devil’s scheme of “killing and eliminating our kings”. Let us not join in “killing our kings.” After all, who are we to judge another’s servants? To their own master (God, the author of all authority), they stand or fall. (Romans 14:4).

Kasoa Area Inaugurates 2 Worship Centres

The Kasoa Area of The Church of Pentecost has inaugurated the Diamond City and Paradise worship centers to the glory of God.

The colorful inaugural ceremony, held recently, was officiated by the Area Head, Apostle James Kwabena Asare.

The event also coincided with the welcome services for the two pioneer resident ministers, Pastors Emmanuel Awudi and Francis Broni (both lecturers of the Pentecost University) in separate inaugural services.

The two worship centers were created during the Extraordinary Council Meetings this year after it was carved out of the Opeikuma and Iron City Districts, respectively.

In a brief sermon on the topic, “Shepherding the flock to the next level,” Apostle James Asare admonished Christian leaders to shepherd God’s flock with integrity of heart and with skillful hands.

Quoting from Psalm 78:70-72 and Proverbs 27:23, Apostle Asare said that every Christian leader should know the condition of their flock and give careful attention to them. He, therefore, urged the leadership and members of the worship centers to assist their ministers to succeed in the quest to possess the nations for Christ.

Apostle James Asare stressed that both ministers have dual roles since they serve as lecturers and also full-time ministers of the church. Consequently, he advised members give them the need support in order for them to excel in both roles.

In attendance were the Kasoa Area pastorate and their wives, officers and family members of the ministers, among many others.

51 Teens Surrender To Christ During Free Vacation School

Fifty-one of the 143 teenagers enrolled in a free two-week vacation school organised by the Nsakina New Town District of The Church of Pentecost have surrendered their lives to Christ.

The teenagers responded to the call to accept Christ as their Lord and Saviour after a powerful word ministration on the second coming of Christ and the reality of Heaven by Pastor Acheampong during a worship session held as part of the classes.

The vacation school was organised from August 22 to September 2, 2022, at the True Believers’ Academy in Nsakina for Basic 6, JHS 1 and 2 students.

The four subjects (English Language, Mathematics, Social Studies and ICT) were handled by trained teachers – Pastor Samuel Acheampong (District Minister), Elder Emmanuel Adjei-Sakyi, Elder David Mensah, Deacon Augustus Mensah and Mr. Obed Acquah – all members of the Church.

At a brief closing ceremony, Pastor Samuel Acheampong entreated the students to intentionally work towards realising their God-ordained destinies.

This, he said, they would achieve by maintaining a strong relationship with God, putting Him first in all their endeavours, and associating with people who fear the Lord and are visionary.

He further encouraged them to take their academic studies seriously, and keep a clear picture of their future in mind.

Other teachers also took turns to advise them on how to lead their lives, after which prayers were offered for them.

The students expressed their gratitude to the Church for the initiative and to the teachers for the voluntary service rendered to them.

Believers Youth Forum Hands Over Members, Facilities To The Church Of Pentecost

A total of 80 members, comprising 50 adults and 30 children, and facilities of the Believers Youth Forum (BYF), an evangelistic and prayer ministry at Tsikpe in the Volta Region of Ghana, have been handed over to The Church of Pentecost by the leader, Reverend Mrs Hetty Appah.

The facilities are made up of a church auditorium with a youth conference hall, children’s and nursing mothers’ rooms, washrooms, a set of drums, furniture, two speakers, a summer hat, and a pumping machine with an overhead poly tank.

Others are a three-bedroom self-contained apartment, 6 plots of cassava farm, a parcel of land measuring 101.49 acres with coconut and palm plantations, and Information Centre Equipment.

The historic ceremony was held on Friday, September 2, 2022, at Tsikpe, in the Juapong District of the Agormanya Area of The Church of Pentecost.

Among those present were the Agormanya Area Head and his wife, Apostle Samuel and Mrs Grace Gakpetor, Rev. Mrs Hetty Appah and family, Pastor Joseph Anenyah Ntoso (Juapong District Minister), Elder William Asare-Gyapong (Area Deacon), Deaconess Janet Naatey (Area Women’s Ministry Leader), and some ministers and their wives in the Area.

The Akrade District Minister of the church, Pastor Joseph Kwadwo Tawiah, quoting from Ephesians 6:10-12, Isaiah 5:6-7, Mark 11:17, stated that prayer is a weapon for possessing the nations which must be done effectively.

He spoke on the topic, “My House Shall Be Called A House Of Prayer to Possess the Nations.”

Pastor Tawiah stressed that just as the early church prayed in Acts 2:42, Christians must also be steadfast and tarry in prayer for it to yield results.

“One of the topics under this year’s theme is intercessory prayers. It is my hope that this place shall be a place of intercessory prayers,” he said.

Concluding, Pastor Tawiah urged that a good maintenance culture must be developed in taking care of the donated facilities, saying, “When the eye sees, the leg must move and hands must touch, hence maintenance should be our priority.”

In a brief speech, Rev. Mrs Hetty Appah, Leader of Believers Youth Forum, expressed her joy in accomplishing such a gesture, because it was a revelation from God to her.

“I strongly believe that The Church of Pentecost will greatly utilise the facilities to affect the lives of generations positively,” she stressed.

Receiving the items on behalf of The Church of Pentecost, the Agormanya Area Head, Apostle Samuel Gakpetor, expressed his appreciation to Rev. Mrs Hetty and her family for their thoughtful gesture, adding that the facilities will go a long way to help the church, especially as it seeks to possess the nations.

To cater for the spiritual and welfare needs of the former members of the Believers Youth Forum (BYF), a local assembly named Tsikpe No. 2 Assembly, has been created and consequently inaugurated, under the Juapong District of the Church.

As part of the memorable service, the pioneer minister of the district, Probationary Overseer Bright Otoo, and his family were welcomed to the district.

Delivering a brief sermon on the topic, “A Man Sent By God,” the District Minister of Kpandai, Pastor Francis Amewondey, said that a man sent by God is the one who propagates the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ while carrying out his assigned responsibilities.

Quoting from John 1:6, Pastor Amewondey explained that a man sent by God is the representative of God, a witness to the light, a teacher, and a saviour to others.

Inaugurating the new district, Apostle Joseph Danzerl prayed for Probationary Overseer Bright Otoo and his family.

He admonished the district minister to love and shepherd the members under his care. He also encouraged the officers and the entire congregation to accept the minister and give him all the needed respect and support.

Ministries Staff Sharpen Skills

Workers of the five mainstream ministries of The Church of Pentecost have attended a day’s workshop meant to build their capacities to enhance their performance.

The event, which took place at the Headquarters of the church in Accra on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, was attended by accounts staff, drivers assigned to the ministries, executive assistants to the directors, domestic staff, and security staff.

Among the speakers were the Director of the Pentecost Men’s Ministry (PEMEM), Apostle Vincent Anane Denteh; the Director of Women’s Ministry, Mrs Philomina Mireku; the Director of the Evangelism Ministry, Apostle Dr. Amos Jimmy Markin, and the Human Resource Manager, Elder Samuel Addo Mantey.

In a keynote address, the General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, commended the directors of the five ministries for putting together the workshop which, he said, was a follow-up to the Management seminar held a few weeks ago.

According to the General Secretary, management realised that the staff of the organisation play a key role in the success of the church. Therefore, there was a need to build their capacities to effectively perform.

Reading from Colossians 3:23-25, Apostle Kumi-Larbi urged the staff to develop a positive mindset about their work. This, he said, will help them to work with passion to attract the blessings of God and the rewards on earth.

In a presentation on “Self-Development in the Workplace Towards Professionalism” with Job 8:7, 2 Timothy 2:15 as his anchor text, Apostle Vincent Anane Denteh stressed the need for the workers to build their capacities, be abreast with the current trends in their areas of work, develop themselves professionally to produce results.

According to him, when workers pursue professional excellence, they will solve problems that erupt in their offices, come out with innovations, and by so doing improve the system as they play a lead role in the ‘Possessing the Nations’ agenda of the church.

He indicated that self-development opens opportunities for one to the job market or job security, brings workers to the limelight, and gives them recognition, while professionalism opens new opportunities to workers, creates fulfillment and satisfaction, makes them diligent and efficient and increases their capacity, among other benefits.

The Women’s Director, Mrs Philomina Mireku, speaking on the topic: “Discipline as a Mark of a Christian Worker” based on Hebrews 12:1-11, Proverbs 3:11, noted that working in a Christian environment calls for high discipline.

Touching on things that can help them stay focused and disciplined in their duties, Mrs Mireku asked the staff to clearly define their goals, be committed to their jobs, set boundaries and take care of themselves, avoid things that can lead them into temptation, and live by deadlines, among others.

According to her, a disciplined workforce yields better results, enhances the image of the organisation and also brings personal rewards to individuals.
