The New Song (TNS), the official choral group of Pentecost International Worship Centre, Odorkor (PIWC-Odorkor), is set to mark the tenth anniversary of its annual music concert, dubbed “KARA,” at the National Theatre on Sunday, November 20, 2022. 

A decade ago, the choir birthed the concept of an annual worship event, which it christened “Altar of Worship.” The event was later rebranded as “KARA,” translated as “Lord We Bow.”

The KARA music concert has since flourished into a well-established worship event that draws patrons from all over the country. It is also graced by some of the finest ministers and artists in the gospel music industry. 

After nine years of successfully hosting the event, KARA moves into its 10th year, and the event organisers are set to mark it in spectacular fashion.

The anniversary celebration kickstarted on Sunday, October 2, 2022, with an official launch ceremony at the PIWC-Odorkor church auditorium in Accra.

It was announced at the launch ceremony that this year’s music concert would be held at the National Theatre under the theme “Great Grace” with FEDEMS Group as the headline sponsor. The event, which promises to be a historic one, will be free for all patrons (as has been the case in previous events).

KARA (as the name connotes) seeks to rally all creations of the Most High God to bow in worship of their Maker unhinged. The New Song (TNS) is, therefore, poised to give patrons a worship experience of a lifetime. 

TNS, widely regarded as one of the top church choirs in Ghana at the moment, has blessed gospel music lovers with a myriad of beautiful compositions, notable of which is its cover of “My Life Is In Your Hands” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Y-eln9phGA) which has over a million views on their YouTube channel.

Elder Felix Atsrim, the Presiding Elder of Mount Olives Worship Centre in the Odorkor Area of The Church of Pentecost, took home the prestigious “Forty Under 40” award during this year’s edition of the award ceremony held at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra last Saturday.

Elder Atrism, the Chief Executive Officer of the FeDems Group, fended off competition from other nominees in the Consultancy and Professional services Category to annex the coveted award.

The “Forty Under 40” Awards is a scheme set to identify, honour and celebrate a cross-section of the nation’s most influential and accomplished young business leaders under the age of forty from a wide range of industries, who are committed to business growth, professional excellence, and community service and have risen the ranks of their companies or industries at a relatively young age as a result of this.

Elder Felix K. Atsrim, a certified Professional Engineer (PE) by the Ghana Institution of Engineering, has close to two decades of expertise in project management and civil engineering. He is also a member of the Ghana Consulting Engineers Association, the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, UK and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, UK. 

Elder Atsrim also serves as the CEO and Director of Projects of FeDems Limited, a company he founded in 2014. Between 2008 and 2011, he worked as a geodetic engineer and Topographical Survey Specialist with Associated Consultants on the construction of the Achimota Transport Terminal Extension and the Millennium Development Authority (MIDA) Volta Regional Road Projects, respectively.

The astute Elder Engineer, also worked at the University A+ (Pentecost University) as the Estate and Development Manager (EDM) between 2012 and 2018.  

As Project Director at FeDems Limited, Elder Atsrim has provided consultancy services to many notable organisations, including Jospong Group, Zoomlion Ghana Ltd, Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development, HGL Farms, Glofert, Ghana Railway Development Authority, Local Government Service and the District Assemblies and Pentecost University to execute various construction projects.

A total of fifty-one (51) persons have been ordained as officers of The Church of Pentecost in the Ho Area.

The ordination services were held during the monthly officers’ prayers at Ho and Anum Zones on Tuesday, 27^th, and Wednesday, 28^th September 2022 at PIWC Ho and Anum Asikuma church auditoriums, respectively. The officers ordained consisted of 16 Elders, 12 Deaconesses and 23 Deacons. 

Speaking on the topic, “Our Multi-Dimensional Relationship With God” (Matthew 20:28), Apostle Dr. Dela Quampah stated that Christians relate to God on so many levels such as slaves to God, servants of God, friends of God, brothers of Christ, children of God, co-workers with Christ, the bride of Christ, and co-heirs with Christ.

Commenting on Christians as slaves of God, the Area Head stated that all those who are in Christ are slaves to righteousness since they have been purchased with the precious blood of Jesus Christ. He encouraged Christians to thus live in righteousness and shun all forms of evil.

He contrasted the life of a slave with being a slave to God, saying that, although physical slaves feel “imprisoned,” being a slave in Christ gives you freedom. According to him, this freedom can be found when we are in the right relationship with God – a relationship guided by righteousness.

He charged leaders in the church to work with all their hearts to promote the Kingdom business, not as though they were working for or serving their presiding elders or district ministers but as to working for and serving God, for it is God’s work and it is God who rewards.

He charged the ordained officers to use their resources to support the Kingdom business. He also encouraged them not to look to men in their work but to God, who can strengthen them through difficult terrains in the discharge of their duties.

In attendance at the services were the wife of the Area Head, Mrs Comfort Quampah, the Area Pastorate, and officers in the Area.

Mrs. Leticia Asantewaa Ankrah, a member of the Agape Central Assembly in the Ablekuma Agape District of The Church of Pentecost, has donated relief items, amounting to GHȼ7,000.00, to the inmates of the Nsawam Female Prison.

The donation, which took place on Friday, September 30, 2022, was made to mark Mrs. Asantewaa’s birthday. 

“It is to express my appreciation to God for adding another year to my age and also show love to the inmates who are also part of God’s agenda of redeeming mankind to Himself,” she said when asked about the rationale behind the gesture.

Receiving the items on behalf of the inmates, ASP Paulina Asare (the officer-in-charge of the prison) expressed her heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Mrs. Asantewaa for the love shown to the inmates. She stressed that the items would go a long way to support the prison.

The Ablekuma-Agape District Minister of the Church, Pastor Frank Awuah Fordjour, who accompanied her to the prison, used the opportunity to share the gospel with inmates and the prison officers. 

Present at the ceremony were Mrs. Ruth Awuah Fordjour (Wife of the District Minister) and four other members of the Ablekuma-Agape District.

The Schools Outreach Ministry (SOM) of the Kwadaso Area of The Church of Pentecost has donated 240 mathematical sets worth GHC 13,000.00 to final-year students in the area who are preparing to sit for 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) this month.

The church also donated 400 copies of the Holy Bible, devotional books to the candidates.  

The donation was made at an orientation programme dubbed “Area Head’s Time With BECE Candidates” organised by the Kwadaso Area’s SOM leadership, headed by Deaconess Grace Ayensu. The event drew 764 candidates from the various districts in the area.

In his address, the Area Head, Apostle J. B. K. Tawiah, used the story of Daniel and his colleagues in Babylon (Daniel 2) as a case study to inspire the students to pursue excellence.

He advised the students to emulate Daniel and his friends by not defiling themselves through unacceptable means in an attempt to pass their exams, but rather be studious and work hard to achieve success.

According to Apostle Tawiah, Daniel and his colleagues succeeded because they were bold, disciplined, God-fearing, wise, and pursued excellence, among others.

“God’s favour was also upon them and that made a difference,” he said.

He, therefore, urged the students to put their trust in God and work hard so as to succeed in any endeavour. 

The Kwadaso Area Head assured the students that God is with them and that He will continue to be with them even during the examination. 

He also advised the candidates to always acknowledge God’s presence in their lives so that He gives them a better future. 

The memorable event had in attendance five Examiners from the Santa Maria R/C School who engaged the students on how to prepare for exams in ICT, Mathematics, English, Social Studies and Twi. 

Pastor Fred Appiah Baah, the Kwadaso Agric District Minister of The Church of Pentecost, also interacted with the students on how to answer French questions. 

To the glory of God, six candidates surrender their lives to Christ at the event.

The School of Theology, Mission and Leadership (STML) of Pentecost University has held a matriculation ceremony to officially admit 127 newly called ministers of The Church of Pentecost to undertake their four-year ministerial training and formation at the university.

One hundred and fourteen (114) of the students are Ghanaians, while 13 of them are international students drawn from various parts of Africa.

The special event took place at the STML Campus at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh, on September 30, 2022.

Addressing the students, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Apostle Professor Kwabena Agyapong-Kodua, said that the event marked the beginning of a life-long learning experience and the beginning of a great journey in the life of the students.

He charged them to take the matriculation oath seriously and endeavour to live in accordance with the rules and regulations of the University while pursuing their programme.

Touching on the importance of university education to society, Apostle Prof. Agyapong-Kodua indicated that universities have contributed significantly to the spiritual dimensions of life, shaped the socio-economic landscape, influenced political and environmental discussions, and ultimately provided the human resource for enterprise.

“Today, you have joined a vibrant university, the University A+ Institution. We have identified ourselves as University A+ in that we identify all other universities as University A, doing extremely well, but we do not want to become just like any of them,” he stated.

According to the VC, the University A+ agenda of the Pentecost University seeks to provide a new educational model that bridges the spiritual and intellectual gap to produce a fresh generation of morally, ethically and intellectually outstanding graduates who solve problems.

He, therefore, urged them to take intellectuality seriously as much as their spirituality. He stressed that by creating an exceptional balance between these two, they will become truly spiritual, intellectually outstanding and recognised problem solvers; ministers replicating Christ in his fullness, and will be able to possess every sphere of life and truly reclaim the world for Christ.

“Intellectually, we have positioned ourselves as front runners in the educational system winning the African International award of merit for our innovation in education, digitisation, projects, research initiatives, social and community impact and the creation of student job opportunities on campus,” he disclosed.

The Special Guest of Honour, Apostle Samuel Osei Asante, who stood in for the Chancellor of the University, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, congratulated the students on their selection to serve in the full-time ministry of the church.

“Being a minister in The Church of Pentecost demands hard work. You must make yourself always available so that God will equip you to do what he wants to be done in his church,” he stated.

Speaking on the topic, “The Seminary: A Place of Refreshment to Become a Better Minister,” he entreated the newly called ministers to endeavour to encounter God in a special way as they begin ministry.

Apostle Asante asked the students to see their time at the seminary as an incubation period and allow themselves to go through rigorous training for God to work on them so that they would go to the field as better ministers.

Citing the calls of several persons in the Bible such as Abraham, Moses, Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel, he revealed that they went through some period of incubation to prepare them for the task God had for them.

He advised them to use the period to reflect on the call of God, where they were and where God has brought them to, and how they can become better Christians.

He further admonished them to use their training period to develop their spiritual gifts, seek and know God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, and also understand the work of ministry.

Present at the ceremony were key officers of the university such as Deans and Directors, Heads of Department, Faculty and Staff.

Among the top management members present were the Acting Pro Vice-Chancellor, Apostle Dr. Emmanuel Kwesi Anim, and the Registrar, Mr Foster Kobina Amoani.

In line with the “Possessing the Nations” agenda of The Church of Pentecost, the Mandari District in the Sawla Area of the Church has enrolled 415 residents onto the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

The initiative, which also saw 98 residents receiving free medical screening and care, was undertaken in collaboration with the Bole Municipal Directorate of the NHIS and the Mandari Health Centre.

According to the District Minister, Overseer Jones Amankwah Dwomoh, who funded the programme with his wife, Felicia, the exercise was the Church’s way of demonstrating the love of Christ by easing the plight of the poor and marginalised in society. Among the beneficiaries were 30 widows within the community.

Other beneficiary communities include Chache, Jentige, Mahmoudkura, Twumbuyiri, and Bale. Others were Jankula, Horiyiri, and Tinyakura

Delivering a speech at the Mandari Central Assembly church auditorium, where the event was held, the Chief of Mandari, Safali Naa Kafinti II, expressed profound appreciation to The Church of Pentecost for the kind gesture.

“This was the first time the community is benefiting from such a gesture from a church organisation,” he said.

He, therefore, commended the district minister for his dexterity in ensuring that the vision became a reality. He was particularly impressed that they extended the gesture to non-members of the Church, including Muslims.

The Assembly Member for Mandari, Mr. Dauda, who accompanied the Chief to the event, was overwhelmed by the gesture and thanked the Church for such a great initiative.

Overseer Dwomoh also thanked a benevolent friend for contributing financially to the programme, as well as the Bole Municipal Director of NHIS, staff of Mandari Health Centre and all who supported in diverse ways to ensure the success of the programme.
