The Offinso Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Pastor Justice Appiah Afful, has called on traditional leaders to model their leadership after Jesus Christ, emphasising that genuine kingship is rooted in humility, compassion, and service to humanity.
He made this remark during the maiden edition of the Offinso Area Royals’ Conference, held on Friday, May 1, 2026, at the Offinso Newtown Central Assembly auditorium.
Themed “Transforming Chieftaincy Through the Gospel and the Power of the Holy Spirit,” the event brought together traditional leaders within the Offinso Area to worship, share the Word of God, and promote unity and a common purpose.
In his opening address, Pastor Appiah Afful challenged the long-held perception that kingship is inherently associated with idol worship. He emphasised that the church now embraces chieftaincy that aligns with God’s principles, hence the establishment of the Chieftaincy Ministry.
Drawing from Proverbs 18:15 and Proverbs 21:1, he reminded the royals that kingship is a form of stewardship rather than a means of amassing wealth, stressing that leaders are accountable to God for the welfare of their people.
Pastor Appiah Afful cited biblical examples of kings such as Solomon, Asa, Hezekiah, Nebuchadnezzar, Belshazzar, David, and ultimately King Jesus, urging traditional leaders to emulate Christ’s humility, obedience, and godly leadership.
“Chiefs can also inherit the kingdom of God,” he assured, stressing that ruling with Christ leads to divine favour and prosperous encounters.
On his part, the Offinsomanhene, Nana Wiafe Akenten II, commended The Church of Pentecost for its Chieftaincy Ministry initiative, noting that it is winning traditional leaders for Christ and transforming palaces into centres of worship.
Elder Dr. Nana K. Gyasi, Chief Executive Officer of Nana K. Gyasi Company Limited, also encouraged members to support the ministry’s vision of possessing the nations for Christ.
The conference marked a new step in blending tradition and faith, showing that chieftaincy rooted in Christ can promote unity, stewardship, and societal transformation.
Among those in attendance were Mrs. Patience Appiah Afful, wife of the Area Head; members of the Area pastorate and their spouses; Elder Michael Owusu, the Area Deacon; Deaconess Dorothy Asante Gyamfi, the Area Women’s Ministry Leader; officers and members of the church.
Traditional leaders, including the Offinsomanhene and his entourage of chiefs and royals from across the districts, also added regal presence to the spiritual gathering.
