The Chairman of the National Discipleship and Leadership Development Committee (NDLDC) of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Dr. Samuel Kojo Gakpetor, has called on believers to make the study and practice of Scripture a daily priority, describing it as essential to Christian growth and transformation.

He made this call on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, during an exhortation at the Pentecost Literacy Project (PLP) Facilitators’ Training held in Bolgatanga.

Speaking on the topic, “The Place and Practice of Scripture,” Apostle Dr. Gakpetor drew lessons from Acts 17:10–12 and 2 Timothy 3:16–17, noting that the core objective of the PLP is to equip all members of The Church of Pentecost to read, understand, and personally engage with the Word of God.

According to him, Scripture remains God’s most effective instrument for transforming the believer. He explained that, being divinely inspired, the Word of God is profitable for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, with the ultimate purpose of thoroughly equipping believers for every good work.

He therefore encouraged participants to cultivate a consistent habit of reading, studying, and memorising the Bible. He stressed that engaging with Scripture is, in essence, engaging with God Himself, the Author of the Scriptures.

Referring to the Bereans in Acts 17, Apostle Dr. Gakpetor, who also serves as the Agormanya Area Head, urged believers to emulate their noble example by receiving the Word with eagerness and examining the Scriptures daily to discover the truth for themselves and establish it as a standard for life and ministry.

He concluded by quoting from the Gideons Bible, describing Scripture in these words:

“This Book contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable.

Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practise it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you. It is the traveller’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s sword, and the Christian’s character.

Here, Paradise is restored, Heaven opened, and the gates of hell are closed. Christ is its grand object, our good is its design, and the glory of God is its end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet.

Read it slowly, frequently, and prayerfully. It is given to you in life, will be opened at the judgement, and will be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, rewards the greatest labour, and condemns all who trifle with its sacred contents.”
