The Schools Outreach Ministry (SOM) of The Church of Pentecost successfully organised its maiden Basic Schools Crusade at Agormanya, bringing together learners from five basic schools.

The event, which attracted over 1,300 learners, was graced by Apostle Dr. Samuel Kojo Gakpetor, Agormanya Area Head; Pastor Frank Mensah Tandoh, SOM National Coordinator; the Municipal Director of Education; the Municipal PRO of Ghana Education Service; Agormanya Area pastorate, heads of schools, and teachers.

In his opening address, Apostle Prof. Ignatius Joseph Teye Buertey, Chairman of the SOM National Committee, highlighted the purpose of the gathering and unveiled various award packages for both teachers and learners. He emphasised that SOM is committed to raising confident, purpose-driven young people by helping learners overcome fear and preparing them for the future.

The learners also showcased their talents through poetry recitations and choreography displays, adding colour and excitement to the programme.

Delivering the Gospel message on the theme, “Jesus Saves and Transforms” (Matthew 11:28), Overseer Christian Peprah Adjei explained that burdens such as disobedience, stealing, and fighting weigh heavily on the lives of young people. He urged the learners to seek Jesus Christ and accept Him as their Lord and personal Saviour, stressing that only He can bring lasting transformation.

A major highlight of the programme was the inauguration of the Moral and Personal Development Club, with the patrons tasked with the responsibility of intentionally nurturing the learners spiritually, morally, and academically.

As part of the Ministry’s support for education, desktop computers, a set of jerseys, footballs, and Bibles were presented to the participating schools.

Apostle Prof. Buertey commended the teachers for their dedication in nurturing the younger generation and urged them to remain fully committed to their calling. He assured them that God sees their labour and will surely reward them accordingly.

The crusade once again demonstrated SOM’s commitment to partnering with stakeholders in shaping the next generation through holistic education and the transforming power of the Gospel.
