Empowering the Future -Grounding the Youth in Christ for Maximum Impact web

Empowering The Future: Grounding The Youth In Christ For Maximum Impact

For the Church to significantly impact today’s ever-changing world, we must establish a strong foundation of faith in the younger generation. These young individuals hold the key to the Church’s future and play an integral role in its present state. We must invest heavily in their spiritual growth and development. This article will draw inspiration from three powerful scriptures—Colossians 2:6, John 14:12, and Ephesians 4:11-13—to explain why grounding our youth in Christ is paramount.

The first scripture, Colossians 2:6, emphasises the importance of a solid foundation for young believers who may face challenging temptations along their spiritual journey. By establishing themselves in Christ, they can withstand the allure of worldly distractions. The second scripture, John 14:12, reassures believers that regardless of age or experience, everyone has incredible potential when grounded in Christ. Lastly, Ephesians 4:11-13 offers guidance on how leaders should equip young Christians, investing their time to nurture their spiritual journey and active participation in the body of Christ. Therefore, we must support our youth by investing our time, resources, and prayers to firmly establish them in the teachings of Christ, enabling them to make a lasting impact for God’s glory.

Grounding the youth in Christ is essential for their spiritual growth and development. The world presents numerous temptations that can lead young people astray from their faith, promoting materialism and selfishness. However, when they have a firm foundation rooted in faith, they gain the strength and guidance needed to navigate life’s challenges. Psalm 119:9-11 highlights the significance of anchoring oneself in God’s Word to keep one’s way pure. By instilling these values early on through Christian education programs, church camps, or retreats, we equip youngsters with the mental, emotional, and spiritual preparedness required to remain on the righteous path. Children must grow up with a deep understanding of Christianity, enabling them to make wise decisions guided by biblical teachings rather than succumbing to worldly pressures alone.

Nurturing the spiritual growth of young individuals is crucial for their future success and well-being. By establishing an unwavering reliance on Christ, they are empowered to fulfil their God-given purpose and leave a lasting impact in their respective domains. John 14:1 exemplifies the importance of cultivating Christian principles and constructing a solid foundation based on biblical tenets, equipping them with the skills necessary to overcome life’s obstacles with wisdom and authenticity.

Research conducted by the Barna Group shows that adolescents who regularly participate in religious activities exhibit positive conduct, including integrity, empathy, and self-control. This underscores the need for guardians and educators to prioritise nurturing one’s spirit alongside academic accomplishments when raising young people. Investing time and resources into programs such as Sunday school or youth groups can profoundly impact individual lives and society through the transformative power of renewed hearts and minds.

Proverbs 22:6 states, “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old, they will not turn from it.” Ephesians 4:11-13 provides a clear and concise plan for the church to nurture young Christians. This passage emphasises the role of pastors and educators in preparing “the saints for the work of ministry” (Ephesians 4:12). By investing in the spiritual growth of our youth, we not only facilitate the individual spiritual growth but also contribute to the overall development and maturity of the body of Christ.

As we guide our youth toward spiritual maturity through instruction, guidance, and discipleship, we must recognise that each person’s journey will be unique. Our approach should accommodate their needs while considering the “unity of faith and knowledge of the Son of God” mentioned in Ephesians 4:13. By intentionally and purposefully investing in youth ministry according to these scriptural guidelines, we can cultivate future generations poised to continue great works for God’s kingdom.

In conclusion, the church must instil a sense of devotion to Christ in the younger generation. By dedicating time, energy, and prayers to guide them on their spiritual journey, we allow them to flourish and positively influence their surroundings. The significance of this mission is reinforced by Colossians 2:6, John 14:12, and Ephesians 4:11-13, scriptures that urge us to provide young believers with a strong foundation in Jesus and equip them with practical skills necessary to fulfil God’s purpose. Ephesians 4:11-13 offers clear direction on how church leaders should ground the youth in Christ, with their specific roles involving coaching and preparing believers for service.

Therefore, let us remember that Christians have greater responsibilities beyond personal salvation. We must empower future generations who will carry God’s message forward. I encourage each of you to diligently pursue this significant task so that we can make a maximum impact by glorifying Him.

Always Yearn To Hear God Speak – Apostle Etrue Tells Church Leaders

The Koforidua Area Head and Executive Council Member of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Mike Etrue, has urged Christians, especially Church leaders, to make it a priority to always hear and obey God’s voice in their Christian ministry.

Apostle Etrue said this when he delivered a sermon on the topic, “Hearing the Lord Speak in Your Ministry,” during an ordination service organised by the Effiduase Area at the Begoro District Central Assembly auditorium last Thursday.

Using Ephesians 4:11-12, Genesis 3:8, Jeremiah 33:1-3, 1 Corinthians 2:9-12, 1 Corinthians 14:1, Matthew 5:6, and Psalm 107:9, as scripture references, the Koforidua Area Head said that God still speaks, and often uses the people He has placed in one’s  life to communicate with them.

He explained that both “Logos” and “Rhema” are the Word of God, but the former refers to God’s Word objectively recorded in the Bible, while the latter is the word of God spoken to us on specific occasions.

“The voice of God ought to be known, understood, and obeyed,” he emphasised.

He added that those who disobey the voice of God will be led astray, but obedience to the voice of God brings peace, blessings, fruitfulness, and prosperity.

Apostle Mike Etrue, therefore, advised Church leaders to lead their flocks in obedience to the will of God.

He reiterated that the ascension gifts – apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor, teacher – are leadership offices of the Church, given by the ascended Christ to lead and perfect the saints, hence, they are not mere positions or automatic rewards.

Apodtle Etrue also stated that ministers must be impartial in caring for the flock entrusted to them.

“As a minister, you must have a love for people’s souls and a longing to lead them to a personal relationship with Christ, contributing to their spiritual growth and development,” he said.

The Koforidua Area Head again stated that a faithful pastor knows they must passionately pursue Christ, adding: “A holy minister is an awe-inspiring weapon in the hand of God and a gift to the Church.”

He urged the Church members to cherish, appreciate, and support God’s gift of ministers to the Church, so they can benefit from the divine blessings contained within them.

He mentioned that the value of a gift is not measured by the purpose the gift serves, as a result, every pastor must strive to fulfill the purpose they have been called to serve.

“Your relevance as a minister is dependent on the benefits the people receive from you. In fact, this may be the most important thing we ever learn about God—that He yearns for a relationship with us and to commune with us,” he said.

Apostle Etrue also noted that God speaks to His children through the glory of His creation, His Holy Spirit, His word, and through dreams, visions, and the human conscience.

“In fact, He sometimes speaks to us through our spouses, the elderly, our children, as well as events and circumstances to speak with us,” he explained.

According to him, the reason why God longs to speak to His children, among other things, is to give them divine wisdom to help people navigate challenges and situations.

“God uses so many methods to speak to you. Sometimes to turn us from wrongdoing and keep us from pride, to preserve our lives from perishing by the sword,” he said.

The Koforidua Area Head, therefore, urged believers, particularly ministers, to reposition themselves to always receive from the Lord.

“As we wait upon the Lord, we are to grow in knowledge of Him and His commands for us. And we are to be diligent in seeking Him and applying His law to our lives,” he advised.

Concluding his message, Apostle Mike Etrue said that ministers can hear the Lord speak in their ministry by desiring to hear His voice (1 Corinthians 14:1, Matthew 5:6, Psalm 107:9), and being sensitive to the Holy Spirit.

He further noted that when ministers are able to hear God’s instructions and act on them, they will become fruitful in ministry and also manifest the power of God.

The Power In The Blood Of Jesus web

The Power In The Blood Of Jesus

The power in the blood of Jesus is a fundamental belief of Christianity. It speaks of the sacrificial death of Jesus on the cross, the shedding of His blood, and its significance for the forgiveness of sins and the salvation of humanity. The blood of Jesus is a central theme in the Bible, and understanding its power can transform our lives.

The Bible tells us in Leviticus 17:11, “For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one’s life.” This passage speaks to the significance of blood in Old Testament sacrifices, which foreshadowed the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus. His death on the cross was the ultimate sacrifice, and His blood was shed for the forgiveness of our sins.

In the New Testament, we see the power of the blood of Jesus at work. In Colossians 1:14, it reads, “In Him, we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.” This verse reminds us that through the blood of Jesus, we have been redeemed, and our sins have been forgiven. We have been reconciled to God and brought into a new relationship with Him.

The blood of Jesus not only saves us but also protects us. Revelation 12:11 reads, “They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.” This verse shows us that the blood of Jesus is a powerful weapon against the enemy. The protection and victory that the blood of Jesus provides are invaluable to us as believers. Therefore, I pray the authority in the blood of Jesus over your life. You are protected in this blood. Victory is yours in the blood. I want you to pause here and begin to pray the power of the blood of Jesus over your life.

Moreover, the power in the blood of Jesus extends to our physical and emotional healing. In Isaiah 53:5, it says, “But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds, we are healed.” His blood not only saves us but heals us as well. Jesus’ blood can heal our physical injuries, emotional pain, and spiritual afflictions. Be healed from any form of ailment in the power of the blood of Jesus.

In conclusion, the power in the blood of Jesus is a vital aspect of Christianity. It is through His blood that we are redeemed, forgiven, protected, and healed. The blood of Jesus is not just a symbol; it is a powerful reality that transforms us and restores our relationship with God. We should always remember the importance of the blood of Jesus and live our lives according to its significance.

Maakro District Mission House Dedicated

The Suame Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle John Obeng Kesse, has dedicated the mission house for the Maakro District to the glory of God. The six-bedroom manse, which boasts impressive facilities such as a conference room, basement and a hall for the Women’s Ministry practical activities, was dedicated on Sunday, May 28, 2023.

Dedicating the building, Apostle Obeng Kesse, who was assisted by the District Minister, Pastor Bright Asare Junior, appreciated the immense support by the Headquarters, the Area, and the District towards the completion of the project.

In a sermon at the event, Pastor Alex Asare of Bohyen District read from Colossians 3:22-25 and spoke on the topic, “Repositioning the Local Church To Do Good Works For Maximum Impact in the Nations.”

He enlightened the congregants on the role for being a leader; a serving mandate, which comes with dedication and commitment to the cause. He also noted that being occupied with the work of God demands sacrifices, and such produces results to benefit the Church.

Pastor Alex Asare, therefore, applauded the tireless efforts of the Maakro District in putting up such a magnificent edifice.

The Maakro District was carved out of the Suame and Tarkwa Districts in 2015.

Since then, the ministers and their families have been residing in a rented apartment with series of efforts made during the time of the first District Minister, Pastor Isaac Obeng Akese, to get a plot of land to begin the construction of a mission house, but to no avail.

With continued prayers and determination, a land was acquired after which a sod-cutting and foundation stone laying ceremonies were performed in 2020 by the then Area Head, Apostle Michael Collins Asiedu (Rtd).

Present at the service were Mrs Eunice Owireduaa Kesse (wife of the Area Head), Apostle Nana Ofori (Rtd), the Area pastorate and their wives, Nana K. Gyasi, some Area Executive Members, Area Women’s Ministry Leader, and the District Executive Members.

Senchi Assembly Church Building Dedicated

The Agormanya Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Kojo Gakpetor, on Sunday, May 28, 2023, dedicated the Senchi Assembly church building in the Akrade District.

He was assisted by the Akrade District Minister, Pastor Joseph Kwadwo Tawiah and a cross-section of the Area pastorate.

The dedication service also had in attendance ministers’ wives, Area and District Executive Committee members, traditional leaders, church members, among others.

Apostle Samuel K. Gakpetor delivered an exhortation at the event on the theme: “The Place of Speaking in Tongues in the Church,” drawing from 1 Corinthians 14:1-4.

In his sermon, the Agormanya Area Head urged the congregation to continue speaking in tongues, emphasising that it is the initial external evidence of the baptism in the Holy Spirit and a fundamental pillar of Pentecostalism.

Apostle Gakpetor further stressed the importance of maintaining the passion for speaking in tongues and not letting it grow cold.

Addressing the heresies surrounding speaking in tongues, Apostle Gakpetor stated that believers should persist in speaking in tongues as it signifies their baptism in the Holy Spirit and enables direct communication with God (1 Cor 14:4), while also providing personal edification.

Apostle Gakpetor, however, cautioned that when praying, believers should not only pray in tongues but also engage their understanding and seek the gift of interpretation of tongues.

Deaconess Leticia Koranteng, in presenting a brief history of the project, mentioned that construction of the edifice began on February 13, 2005, when the then District Minister of Akosombo, Pastor Osei-Wusu Nimako (late), expressed the intention to establish a new district in Akrade.

The local presbytery, led by Elder Emmanuel Ayi Ayikwei, along with the members, wholeheartedly supported the construction of the building till its completion.

On behalf of the Church, Deaconess Leticia Koranteng expressed gratitude to all past Area Heads of Agormanya, former ministers of the Akrade District, presiding elders, and building committee members who contributed to the project from its inception to completion.

Pastor Joseph K. Tawiah was particularly commended for overseeing the successful completion of the church building.

Special recognition was also given to Nana Gyan Oduro Dapaah II, Adontenhene of Senchi, and Nana Abrewa Mirekua II, Queenmother of Dasaase.

New Dormaa Central Assembly Church Building Dedicated

The Sunyani Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle James Gabriel Quardson, dedicated the new Dormaa Central Assembly church building on May 28, 2023, to the glory of God.

The dedication ceremony was attended by the Sunyani Area pastorate and their wives, former ministers of the district, retired ministers, Area and District Executive Committee members, Area Women’s Ministry Executive Committee members, Traditional leaders, Assembly members, and church members, among others.

During the ceremony, Pastor Peter Garbah delivered a sermon on the theme “A Glorious Temple” from 1 Kings 8:1-13, urging Christians to seek God’s glory as a means of obtaining a Glorious Church.

He emphasised that God desires a worthy place to reside, built by people with clean hands and a clean heart, as stated in 1 Chronicles 28:3-7.

“So, we must keep a pure heart to accommodate God’s glory,” he added.

Pastor Garbah also highlighted the importance of allowing the word of God to manifest in the lives of believers for His glory to manifest in the Church.

Elder Paul Adjei Bediako, the Presiding Elder of the Central Assembly and a District Executive Committee Member, provided a brief history of the project.

He mentioned that the assembly was established in 1984. He, however, noted that the idea to construct the Church building was mooted by a group of members who approached the then District Minister, Pastor Osei Kwadwo, to express the crucial need for a permanent place of worship for the Assembly. Consequently, the then Sunyani Area Head, Prophet James Osei Amaniampong, approved the construction of a new church building and supported the project with an amount of GHS 7,000.00 in 2004.

Under the leadership of the then District Minister, Pastor Emmanuel Yaw Adjei, the project progressed rapidly, and the foundation stone was laid on Sunday, May 6, 2006, by Prophet James Osei Amaniampong.

He acknowledged all past ministers of the New Dormaa District for overseeing the project from the beginning until its completion.

The current District Minister, Pastor Michael Osei-Appau, was commended for continuing the work started by his predecessors and successfully supervising its completion.

The Church also expressed appreciation to the founding leaders of the Assembly for their significant contributions to the project and the overall growth of the Church.

Love Is Key To Successful Marriage – Women’s Director Observes

The Director of the Women’s Ministry of The Church of Pentecost, Mrs Philomina Mireku, has delivered a heartfelt message to married men, urging them to love their wives sincerely, purely, and consistently.

According to her, men showing love to their wives reflects Christ’s love for the Church.

Speaking at the recently held 5th Bezalel Conference organised by Pentecost Men’s Ministry (PEMEM) at the Pentecost Convention Centre in Gomoa Fetteh, Mrs Mireku highlighted the importance of love in a woman’s life.

She stated: “A woman thrives in an environment of love. When a husband loves his wife, it fuels her to give her best and enables her to fulfil her God-given responsibilities.”

Addressing the topic, “The Expectations of Wives from Their Husbands,” Mrs Mireku revealed that unmet expectations often cause strain in marriages. She stressed the need for effective communication between spouses, ensuring that both partners are aware of each other’s expectations, saying, “As a husband, it is important to understand your wife’s needs to foster a stronger and happier marriage.”

The Women’s Director emphasised that every wife desires a husband she can rely on, someone who is supportive and trustworthy. She, therefore, urged husbands to be considerate and respectful in their interactions with their wives as they live together.

Drawing inspiration from biblical passages such as 1 Peter 3:7 and Ephesians 5:25-29, she pointed out that the Christian marriage is a reflection of Christ’s sacrificial love for the Church.

Categorising the expectations of wives from their husbands, Mrs Mireku outlined five areas: spirituality, social life, domestic responsibilities, finances, and sexual intimacy.

In terms of spirituality, she stressed the importance of mutual growth, praying and studying the Word of God together, and being dependable and faithful to one another. Regarding social expectations, she emphasised open communication, treating each other with kindness and respect both at home and in public, and providing support and consistency.

For domestic responsibilities, she mentioned the desire for husbands to be protective, actively involved in raising children, and supportive of household chores. She also encouraged husbands to involve their wives in taking important family decisions like property acquisitions and retirement planning.

Discussing financial expectations, Mrs Mireku emphasised transparency in monetary matters, providing financial support unconditionally, being responsible fathers, and being driven by ambition and purpose.

She also highlighted the importance of meeting sexual expectations, including affection, communication, understanding each other’s needs, and spending quality time together.

Mrs Philomina Mireku concluded by urging the Church to promote trustworthiness and tenderness among husbands.
