‘Tarkwa For Christ Crusade’ Begins With Thousands In Attendance

Thousands throng the forecourt of the E. K. Kyei Worship Centre of The Church of Pentecost in Tarkwa on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, for the ‘Tarkwa for Christ Crusade.’

The four-day crusade under the theme, “Jesus Christ: The Way, The Truth & The Life,” is being hosted by the National Directorate of the Evangelism Ministry of The Church of Pentecost, led by Apostle Dr. Amos Jimmy Markin, in collaboration with the Tarkwa Area, led by Apostle Dr. Daniel Walker.

Present on Day One were Apostle John Obeng Kesse (Suame Area Head), Apostle Anthony Mensah (Resident Minister of Pentecost International Worship Centre, Atomic in Accra), and Apostle Martin Seth Appiah (Madina Area Head).

Others were Hon. Benjamin Kessie (Municipal Chief Executive for Tarkwa Nsuaem), National Executive Committee Members of the Evangelism Ministry, and traditional rulers from the Tarkwa and its environs.

Speaking at the crusade, Apostle Dr Jimmy Markin indicated that Jesus is the only true way to life. He explained that a lot of people have been roaming effortlessly in search for solution to the challenges of life but to no avail, while many others are trying so hard to work out their way to God by giving alms and doing all that seem right.

According to Apostle Dr Jimmy Markin, this is not a novel thing as Cornelius went through the same phase as captured in Acts chapter 10.

The Evangelism Ministry Director revealed that the only thing missing in the quest of Cornelius and the people searching to find answers to the mystery of life is that they have not experienced the only way to God, which is Jesus Christ.

However, he said, due to the mercies of God and the fact that God knows everyone by name, He decides to come their way and directs them to Christ.

Apostle Dr Jimmy Markin emphasized that, “There are many religions and academic philosophies that suggest they know the way to salvation, but they do not. It is only the Bible that has that record. And that record is that Jesus is the only way.”

He added: “God is no respecter of persons and has made His saving grace available to all that all who will seek Him will find Him and will be saved.”

The first day of the crusade ended with 54 souls won, out of which, 52 received water baptism and 13 receiving Holy Spirit Baptism.

A total of 2,272 were in attendance for the opening day.

Chairman Visits Western, Western North Regions

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, is on a week-long working visit to the Western and Western North Regions of Ghana, to share the church’s ‘Vision 2028’ with members.

The visit, which spans from Tuesday, April 9 to Sunday, April 14, 2024, includes stops at the Sefwi Wiawso and Asankrangua Areas of the church, led by Prophet Robert Dentu and Apostle Daniel Dekpor, respectively.

Starting his visit at the Emmanuel Assembly in the Market Square District of the Sefwi Wiawo Area, the Chairman emphasized the church’s mission to possess nations and influence worldviews with Kingdom values and principles.

He stated, “From time to time, God chooses leaders for his people. Our service to God does not end in the church but extends to our society, to the world.”

The Chairman further explained that the texts in Deuteronomy 6:1, and Deuteronomy 7:1 form the basis of the ‘Vision 2028’ agenda. He said, “Where there is evil, we are to possess that nation and turn their hearts to Christ. The church is not an end to itself but a means to an end.”

Reflecting on the ‘Vision 2023’ agenda, the Chairman noted, “In the last five years, we have focused on equipping the church to possess the nation. It started with ‘I will build my church’, ‘a glorious church to possess the nations’, ‘a glorious church revived to possess the nations’, ‘the church as an army of God’, ‘repositioning the local church for maximum impact’.”

He added, “We have carefully but forcefully drummed home the fact that Christ did not come to save individual sinners but to build a community of believers called the Church.”

The Chairman concluded by highlighting the overarching theme of ‘Vision 2028’: “Possessing the Nations, Unleashing the whole church to transform their world with the Values and Principles of the Kingdom of God.

According to him, Transformation is the conversion of souls and the conversion of society through the Gospel, adding: “Miracles do happen mostly outside the church building.”

Among those present were Very Rev. Samuel Okrah of the Methodist Church of Ghana, Honourable Alex Tetteh, Member of Parliament for the Sefwi Akontombra Constituency, chiefs within the Area and church members.

The Ultimate Showdown: PENSA-KNUST “Tetelestai Games” Unleashes Spectacular Competition

“All work and no play,” they say, “makes Jack a dull boy.” This Jack is not a dull boy but a holistically equipped young transformer. The much-talked-about Easter Convention of PENSA-KNUST climaxed on the 31st day of March 2024 could not have had a better finish without the socialisation and games, dubbed “Tetelestai Games.”

In the weeks leading up to the Easter convention, a massive publicity campaign was conducted. Anticipation fliers were shared across all social media platforms, and the nine departments were paired with the respective departments they would be competing against. The departments in PENSA-KNUST include Music and Drama, Evangelism, Bible Studies, Prayer Force, Ushering, Organising, Editorial, Media, and Transport. The members received this news with jubilation and eagerly anticipated this grand event to see which department would emerge victorious.

April 1st, 2024, the day dawned with members already at the bus stops by 8:00 AM. The eagerness and enthusiasm were palpable. By 11:30 AM, all the members were gathered at the park, ready to commence the program. The games kicked off with racing competitions and sack races. The competitors sprinted off amidst cheering and encouragement from the crowd. This was followed by musical chairs, with rounds for both ladies and gentlemen. The musical chairs session was not only entertaining but also insightful and educational. Following this was the lime and spoon race, where competitors balanced a lime on a spoon and raced with it. The crowd cheered and jeered in good spirits, emphasising the importance of balance, focus, and speed in the race of life.

Subsequently, soccer matches were held with departments competing against their paired counterparts. The Local Central Committee (LCC) also faced off against the Shepherds and Stewards (S&S), creating a sight to behold as assistants teamed up to play against their superiors. This friendly competition not only helped relieve academic and other forms of stress but also fostered camaraderie and collaboration between members working towards the common goal of kingdom progression.

Concurrently, video games, chess, cards, ludo, table tennis, dame, and skipping were played under canopies raised outside the park. Members were free to choose any game to participate in and were visibly enjoying their time. The Resident Campus Minister, Pastor Jonathan Ebo Quaye, engaged in a game of table tennis with the members, breaking down barriers and showcasing his approachability and care for all.

Over 410 Members graced the PENSA-KNUST TETELESTAI GAMES at Atonsu Astroturf. A remarkable turnout! Water stations were set up to ensure members stayed hydrated, and food was provided to sustain their energy throughout the activities. At the conclusion of the soccer matches, the Ushering department emerged as the victorious department, followed by Bible Studies in second place. Gold and silver medals as well as a gold trophy were awarded to the departments amidst jubilation and cheers. Furthermore, student entrepreneurs were given the opportunity to sell their products during the socialisation event, allowing them to generate capital and promote their businesses. In addition to the focus on socialisation, members were actively engaged in evangelism even amidst the games.

As the day progressed and night began to fall, it was a heartwarming moment for the brethren of PENSA-KNUST to come together, socialise, and build lasting connections. Tetelestai!

“The Pastor’s Wife” Book Launched

Renowned Ghanaian media personality, Peggy Ama Donkor of The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) has launched a new book titled, “The Pastor’s Wife.”

The book, which was launched on March 31, 2024, at the Burma Camp Worship Centre of The Church of Pentecost in Accra, was written in memory of the late Mrs. Hannah Osei-Korsah, former wife of Apostle Dr Philip Osei-Korsah (Director of the Counselling Ministry of The Church of Pentecost) who suddenly passed on to glory about two years ago at age 48.

Through extensive research, Peggy gathered tributes from family, friends, and institutions where the deceased made an impact and highlighted them in the book.

The book gives readers insight into the lifestyles of the wives of pastors in general and the roles they play or are expected to play.

Peggy, in her bid to keep readers glued to the book, explores tragic suspense by asking several questions in the early chapters, leaving the reader in eager expectations of the answers to such questions.

“The Pastor’s Wife” also provides a unique perspective on the personal lifestyles of ministers’ wives as the author captures the views of thirty-five pastor’s wives from various denominations across the globe.

It also highlights some of the challenges faced by pastors’ wives while supporting their husbands in the Lord’s work.

However, the author does not just end by highlighting these challenges, she goes on to make recommendations on how to help ministers’ wives curb the challenges.

Apart from serving ministers’ wives, Peggy had something for newly ordained ministers’ wives as she lists five points to serve as a guideline for them, emphasizing the importance of adaptability, prayerfulness, approachability, and a motherly mindset.

Assin Foso Area Lauded For Annual Blood Donation Exercise

A delegation from the Foso St. Francis Xavier Hospital has commended The Church of Pentecost in Assin Foso Area for its annual blood donation to the hospital, which has helped raise the hospital’s status to a Level 2 referral center.

The delegation of health experts, led by Mr. Manfred Ansah Nyametease, a Senior Biomedical Scientist, commended the Church on behalf of the Hospital when they visited the 2024 Easter Convention on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at the Foso Jomsco School Park to sensitise the church populace about the need to donate blood to fill the blood bank of the hospital.

Educating the Church on the importance of Blood donation, Matthew Ninwienaane, a Lab Scientist at the hospital, said that blood donation saves lives and thus is a good cause.

He asserted that blood donors, aside from helping save the lives of others, also enjoy significant personal benefits too, which include enjoying free health screening and helping to balance the quantity of iron in one’s blood, which often leads to various heart-related conditions, among others.

In recognition of the great work the church is doing in donating blood to the hospital, the hospital has, as a matter of policy, announced that all Church of Pentecost members who need blood transfusion will receive it freely, whether they are donors or not, henceforth.

The Area Head, Apostle Frederick K. Andoh, on behalf of the church, thanked the hospital for the commendation and promised to continue to partner with the hospital to save lives through regular blood donation exercises.

The health talk was followed by a blood donation exercise.

The Resurrection Makes The Christian Faith Unique – Apostle Etrue web

The Resurrection Makes The Christian Faith Unique – Apostle Etrue

Apostle Mike Kwame Etrue, the Koforidua Area Head and Executive Council Member of The Church of Pentecost, has reiterated that the resurrection narrative of Jesus Christ makes the Christian faith unique.

Apostle Etrue, who is also the Coordinator of the Eastern Regional Coordinating Committee (RCC), said this on Sunday, March 31, 2024, during the climax of the Easter Convention of the New Juaben Zone in Koforidua.

The Koforidua Area Head explained that what distinguishes Christianity from all other religions is the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ and that the resurrection narrative is central to the faith of believers.

Referencing 1 Corinthians 15:4, he mentioned that “if Christ had not risen, then our faith is in vain, and our preaching is baseless, and that those who have died for the cause of the faith have died in vain.”

As to the proof that Jesus Christ indeed rose from the dead, Apostle Mike Etrue shared evidence from scripture and mentioned the empty tomb (Matt. 28:6) and the post-resurrection appearances to individuals (1 Corinthians 15:5), appearance to two persons on the way to Emmaus (Luke 24:13-15); appearances to the eleven disciples (John 20:24-28), to more than 500 people (1 Cor. 5:6), and finally to Paul (Acts 9). Other evidence of Jesus’s resurrection includes the testimony of the angels (Matt 28:5-7; Acts 1:10-11); and the experiences of the early Church.

On the significance of the resurrection, the Koforidua Area Head shared that it is the vindication of Christ that he is true to his word and never fails (John 10:17-18).

Further, the resurrection is the assurance that indeed Christ died for the sins of the world and rose again for the justification of those who believe (Romans 4:25). Again, the resurrection of Christ inaugurated the new creation (1 Cor. 5:17).

Finally, the resurrection of Christ gives the assurance of the future resurrection of believers and their transformation into glorified bodies.

Apostle Etrue admonished believers to demonstrate the evidence of the resurrection of Christ through their transformed lives.

He also reminded the congregation that the Lord has unleashed them to effectively possess their spheres with the resurrection power of Christ and entreated them to offer themselves to make Vision 2028 a reality.

The climax of the convention witnessed the presence of Nana Kwaku Boateng III, paramount chief of New Juaben State, his sub-chiefs, and elders.

In attendance was Hon. Michael Okyere Baafi, the Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, who mentioned that The Church of Pentecost was significant in every sphere of the nation and that no politician can do without the Church.

The Parliamentary Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Martin Offei Otu, also graced the event.

Also, present at the climax were Mrs. Ernestina Etrue, wife of the Koforidua Area Head, as well as Elder Dr. Kwasi Mireku and his wife, Mrs. Philomina Mireku, who is also the Women’s Director of The Church of Pentecost.

Pastors Samuel Yaw and Mrs. Josephine Asare, the District Minister of New Juaben; Daniel and Mrs. Juliana Mireku of Old Estate District; Joseph and Mrs. Deborah Tawiah-Kwao of Koforidua District; as well as Gordon and Mrs. Evelyn Ansah, the Koforidua Sector PENSA Travelling Secretary were also present.

89 Receive Holy Spirit Baptism During Assin Foso Children’s Easter Convention

Eighty-nine children received Holy Spirit baptism, with the initial evidence of tongues-speaking, on Saturday, March 30, 2024, during the Children’s edition of this year’s Easter Convention organised in the Assin Foso Area of The Church of Pentecost.

Speaking on the topic “If This Same Spirit Which Raised Christ From the Dead Dwells in You,” with Bible reference from Romans 8:11, the Area Children’s Ministry Leader, Pastor Samuel Avornyo, emphasised the need for every Christian child to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit and to operate in the various spiritual gifts the Holy Spirit offers.

“The Scriptures say, if this same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells in us, this same Spirit will quicken and give life to our mortal bodies too,” he emphasized.

He, therefore, encouraged the children to desire the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the empowerment that comes along with it.

In a related development, 19 children who had attained the age of 13 also underwent water baptism to the glory of God.
