The Church Of Pentecost Constructs Boreholes For 3 Communities

It was all joy when the Wa Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Daniel Nii Tetteh Tackie, commissioned and handed over three boreholes with hand pumps to the Yorkonteng, Metii and Gurungu communities in the Upper West Region.

The boreholes, which were fully funded by the Church’s Headquarters, through her social services wing, Pentecost Social Services (PENTSOS), was constructed to provide access to potable drinking water.

Before the commissioning of the boreholes, residents of the Yorkonteng community, numbering about 800, were without potable water and, therefore, resorted to unclean water from water bodies, which they shared with other animals. Moved by the plight of the people, the Church offered to construct boreholes for the community and two other surrounding communities namely Metii and Gurungu, faced with the same challenge

The commissioning service, held recently, had in attendance Pastor Prince E. Y. Dzramedo (Gurungu District Minister), Hon. Vida Dorothy (Wa West District Chief Executive), Hon. Manan (Assembly Member, Gurungu Electoral Area), Unit Committee Members, Chiefs and opinion leaders.

Dedicating the facilities, Apostle Tackie advised the community members to take good care of the boreholes so that they would prolong their lifespan and serve them for a long time.

Hon. Dorothy was full of praise for the Church for meeting this dire challenge of the people, saying that “water is life!”

She applauded The Church of Pentecost for investing in various social interventions citing the establishment of schools, hospitals, correctional facilities and water facilities across the length and breadth of the country.

She also praised the Church for her evangelistic efforts and also encouraged them to continue to do more to bring more persons into the saving knowledge of Christ.

Hon. Manan, on his part, thanked the Church for extending such a kind gesture to the communities within his jurisdiction. He prayed for God’s continuing providence for the Church and encouraged other organisations to emulate the Church’s efforts.

Speaking to PENTECOST NEWS, Pastor Dzramedo said that the Church discovered the small community in 2018 and established an assembly after an evangelism outreach. He said the challenge came to their notice after they established the assembly there.

Subsequently, the District prayed for a divine intervention and informed the then Area Head, Apostle Robert Kwabena Andoh about the situation. He, in turn, informed the PENTSOS Directorate for assistance.

The PENTSOS Director, Elder Richard Amaning, and a team of experts visited the community to assess the situation and came to their aid.

Teshie-Nungua Area Holds ‘Rhema Conference’

The Teshie-Nungua Area of The Church of Pentecost has organised a special programme dubbed ‘Rhema Conference’ at the Fred Stephen Safo Memorial Temple, Nshorna, Nungua.

The programme brought together ministers and members from all 26 districts in the Area to listen and share the word of God preached across the Area on 31st December 2021 Watch-Night Services.

Each of the pastors in the Area gave a summary of the sermons they preached on 31st Night.

“It is important for us to take note of what God said to all members of the Teshie-Nungua Area through the men of God who preached that night,” the Area Head, Apostle Wilberforce Nkrumah Agyemang, stated in a sermon.

Apostle Wilberforce Nkrumah Agyeman who preached at Agnes Boahemaa Gyimah Temple on December 31st spoke on the topic, “Do me special favour,” on the story of Othniel’s conquest, his marriage to Caleb’s daughter Aksa and her request for springs leading to her father gifting her the upper and lower springs of water recorded in the book of Joshua 15.

“Caleb was old but felt strong in his body that he was more than delighted to grant his daughter her requests,” he said, adding, “Just as Caleb’s daughter asked her father for a special favour and he willingly granted, God will also grant the requests of all who ask of him for special favours.”

Tonight it is my prayer that God will do you a special favour and grant your request in the area of health, promotion at work, in your marriage, in your school, in any interview you are attending and in all aspects of your life,” he said.

Prophet Fred Antwi of Baatsona District on 31st December also preached on the topic: “The road leading to your victory is under construction.” He urged members to seek the face of God as their victory is near. He quoted Romans 8:1-37 and said: “There will surely be a commissioning ceremony; it is a year of battle and testimonies as well.”

Apostle Rigwell Ato Addison (Retd), former General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, also preached at E. D. Aninkorah Worship Centre at the Teshie Military Camp. He indicated that the supernatural star of God that leads his people will never be defeated, quoting from Luke 2:11.

“The shepherds were stars in their own right, but they saw a supernatural star which when they followed led them to their sought-after destination,” he said.

He added: “God should open our eyes to see the supernatural star, and the significance of the gifts presented to Christ such as the gold should take poverty away from us, the frankincense should anoint us with fresh oil and the myrrh should take away any problems in our lives.”

Be Part Of God’s Nation Possessors – Chairman Charges Young Christians

“There is a task to be completed, a nation to be taken for the Lord. We’re forming an army, and we want you to be a part of it,” Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, made this assertion when addressing this year’s PENSA Ghana Conference at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh, near Kasoa in the Central Region on Thursday, January 6, 2022.

This year’s event dubbed ‘Holistic Empowerment Conference’ under the theme: “Equipping the church as an army to possess the nations” (Hebrews 13:20-21 & Ephesians 4:11-12; 6:10-11), took place concurrently at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi for the Northern Sector, and Pentecost Convention Centre, Gomoa Fetteh, for the Southern Sector, from January 3-6, 2022.

Apostle Nyamekye emphasized the necessity for the youth to be equipped as God’s army so that they might possess the nations, using Luke 24:44-49 and Acts 1:4-8 as scriptural references.

“The Holy Spirit is our only source of strength. There is something about the Holy Spirit’s enduement of power that we don’t completely comprehend,” he said.

He went on to say that even though Jesus Christ walked with His disciples for three and a half years on earth, when Jesus was crucified, the disciples withdrew into hiding.

“It took the baptism of the Holy Spirit before the disciples were able to come out and make effect, thereby turning a whole city upside down,” he added.

Apostle Nyamekye continued: “Nothing will change until we are endowed with divine power. When you receive the Holy Spirit, your tale will be different. It’s not enough to speak in tongues; you need to be completely immersed in the Spirit. You will make impact when you are completely immersed in the Spirit.”

Touching on tongues, which is an early sign of Holy Spirit baptism, Apostle Eric Nyamekye declared that speaking in tongues is an experience that every born-again Christian should have, disclosing that, whenever one speaks in tongues, he or she is edifying him or herself and recharging his or her spiritual batteries. If you don’t, the Holy Spirit becomes redundant and feeble in your life,” he explained.

He exhorted young Christians to desire the baptism and infilling of the Holy Spirit in order to have an impact in their life and to change their world.

“Nothing can cause us to transform our world unless we first change ourselves via the power of the Holy Spirit.”

He continued: “This possessing the nations agenda cannot come on unless we are completely changed by the power of the Holy Ghost, then we can change our world.”

He further stated: “Possessing the nations agenda is not for the aged; they can support. Our eyes are upon God and on you [young people]. The youth is the strength of the church, it is also the future of the church, yet it is also the challenge of the church. If it is a challenge, then we need to manage it; if it is the future, then we need to encourage you; and if it is the strength, then we need to use you. That is why you need the Holy Spirit power, because no mind can fathom how much you can do with the Spirit.”

“I pray that the Holy Spirit will affect our looks that even when people see you, they will see Christ in you, just as liquor changes the looks of drunkards,” he concluded.

Be Morally Perfect – Apostle Kumi-Larbi Urges Christian Youth

Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, the General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, has urged Christians, particularly the youth, to set themselves apart for the Lord’s use.

He firmly believed that if young Christians avoid wickedness and immorality, God will use them to do greater things.

Apostle Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi made the aforementioned remarks at the Pentecost Students and Associates (PENSA) Ghana Conference at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC) at Gomoa-Fetteh, near Kasoa on Tuesday, January 4, 2022.

Speaking on the theme: “Our Call To Holiness In A Perverse World,” with 1 Peter 1:13-25 and 2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1 as his major texts, Apostle Kumi-Larbi stated that the world is perverse and bleeding with evil because the devil is bent on twisting and destroying every good thing that God has created.

He, therefore called on devout Christian youngsters to demonstrate the noble virtues God has bestowed upon them in order to turn the world around.

“We are definitely living in a wicked world,” he added, “but we must not lose sight of the reality that the God who has called us is a holy God, and He compels all His children to walk as He walks.”

He explained that holiness is a general term used to indicate sanctity or separation from all that is sinful, impure, or morally imperfect. According to Apostle Kumi-Larbi, holiness is one of the essential attributes of God’s divine nature.

He defined it as “complete freedom from moral evil on the one hand and ultimate moral excellence on the other.”

“God’s character is morally faultless, free of moral evil. We cannot discover any immorality, defect, stain, or blemish in God’s character,” he stated emphatically.

Citing several scriptures to explain his point, the General Secretary admonished believers to separate themselves from all forms of perverse behaviours and lead holy lives since they were created in the image and likeness of God.

He added that personal separation involves an individual’s commitment to a godly standard of behaviour just as Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine (Daniel 1:8).

As a result, he commanded them to let their light shine in order to expel all darkness in their circles of influence, adding, “We are to be light to the world without allowing the world to dull our light. Men must notice our excellent works and worship our heavenly Father.”

The chief scribe also emphasized the importance of young people living by God’s standards rather than what the world dictates, stressing that, God is inviting Christians to be distinct from the world.

“Holiness may appear difficult, but the advantages far transcend any ‘sacrifices’ we may have to make. The reward greatly outweighs the loss of any worldly activity, behaviour, or attitude,” he said.

He mentioned that holiness fosters intimacy with God, builds spiritual strength and stability (Psalm 15:1-6), makes believers useful and effective for God’s purposes (2 Timothy 2:20-26), causes people to glorify God (1 Peter 2:9-12), builds peace with God (2 Peter 3:10-18), pleases God and also produces fruit (Ephesians 5:1-17).

PENSA Ghana ‘Holistic Empowerment Conference’ Kick-Starts

The year 2022 has begun on a good note for youth of The Church of Pentecost as they converge at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi and the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh, near Kasoa to be equipped and empowered to be unleashed to possess their spheres of life for Christ Jesus.

This year’s PENSA Ghana Conference dubbed ‘Holistic Empowerment Conference’ under the theme: “Equipping the Church As An Army to Possess the Nations,” is taking place simultaneously at the two centres from January 3-6, 2022.

Opening the conference on Monday night, the Patron of the Youth Ministry, Apostle Samuel Osei Asante, on behalf of the Chairman of the Church, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, welcomed the hundreds of young men and women mainly students, alumni, PENSA Travelling Secretaries, Resident PENSA Campus Pastors, among others, to the conference.

Giving a historical antecedent of how PENSA conferences began in the early 1980s, Apostle Asante, who also doubles as the Koforidua Area Head and Executive Council Member of the church, said the conferences have come with great blessings to the church and also impacted and built up all those who have taken part in it over the years.

He, therefore, asked participants not to take it for granted but psych and open themselves up so that the Lord would speak to them, saying, “We are not attending for attending sake; we want the glory of God to come upon us.”

Reading from Haggai 2:7-9, he said that God has something great to do in The Church of Pentecost, and it is the youth that God will use to do it.

In his welcome address, the Youth Director, Pastor Ebenezer Hagan, expressed his deepest appreciation to the leadership of the church for their continuous support for the activities of PENSA and the annual conferences.

Touching on the theme for the conference which happens to be the church’s main theme for the year, he said that emphasis is placed on how members can be built to be all-round, all-powerful, and fully equipped soldiers of God with all the machinery that is needed in their mandate of taking over nations for the Lord Jesus Christ.

“The Youth Ministry and PENSA Ghana is also emphasising on a holistic development and the simple case is that, as long as we have not gone to heaven, the Lord needs us here on earth, and so we must be holistically developed.

“We must be young people who do not only know how to pray and cast out demons, but young people who have their financial lives, social lives, intellectual lives and all other areas of their lives intact and well developed so that they can be attractive in all spheres of life.

“The mandate is for us to take over nations. As we prepare to take over nations, the Lord will build us into all-round young people who are truly qualified to fit into every sphere of society to demonstrate the Kingdom life and its principles.

“Another focus of this conference is to release a full militancy against the deception of the devil such as the LGBTQI+ agenda. This conference will help us to be equipped to go out there as an army to fight against this deception that the devil wants to bring into the nation,” the Youth Director stated.

Delivering the sermon from the KNUST centre, Apostle Yaw Adjei-Kwarteng (Bompata Area Head and Executive Council Member) quoted his main scriptures from Hebrews 13:20-21; 1 Corinthians 9:7a, and said that as soldiers of God, Christians need to be hard and tough in order to win the battle against the deceptions of the devil.

According to him, the Christian’s fight is a fight of faith. “We seek to conquer minds and hearts for God to make men serve His purposes and walk in His way. Our fight is a good fight because we don’t take firearms and go on rampage on nations, but we take captive of imaginations, strongholds and any argument that attempt to exalt itself against God.”

He added: “We are fighting to eliminate sin. Sin and evil are the viruses that we are trying to remove by the gospel we preach. We are equipping the church as an army to raid our world of the virus of sin and evil.”

Speakers for the conference include Apostle Eric Nyamekye (Chairman), Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi (General Secretary), Apostle Dr Dela Quampah (Ho Area Head), Apostle Martin Seth Appiah (Madina Area Head), Apostle Prof Agyapong Kodua (Vice Chancellor of Pentecost University), and Deaconess Eunice Johnson.

Others are Coach Kwasi Appiah, Bernard Avle (Broadcast Journalist), Elder Dr Patrick Adonoo (PENSA International Coordinator), among others.

New Tafo Area Donates To Ejura Camp Prison

The New Tafo Area of The Church of Pentecost, led by the Area Prisons Ministry, has donated food items worth GHS 12,200.00 to the inmates of the Ejura Camp Prison. An amount of GHS 1,000.00 was also given to cover their medical expenses.

Led by Pastor Agyemang Badu of Mile 3 District who represented the Area Head, Apostle Samuel Antwi, the team comprising ministers and their wives engaged the inmates in church service, leading many to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.

The food items included one bag of sugar, 10 bags of gari, 21 bags of rice, 13 boxes of soap, oil, tin tomatoes, tubers of yams, and toilet rolls were later presented to the facility.

Pastor Agyemang Badu explained that the act was to provide hope that Jesus loves everyone regardless of their situation. He, therefore, asked them to trust that Jesus will take care of them.

He revealed that visiting the prisons and sharing the word of God with inmates equips inmates for productive futures, replacing the cycle of crime and incarceration.

“This is part of Possessing the Nations agenda, and on behalf of Apostle Samuel Antwi and his wife and all the pastors and officers of the Area, we have presented these items to the prisons to demonstrate the love of Christ to them,” he said.

Officer in charge of the Ejura Camp Prison, Superintendent of Prisons Dickson Owusu Ameyaw, on behalf of the Prisons Administration appreciated the church for the gesture.

He expressed sincere thanks to the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, the Area Head of New Tafo, Apostle Samuel Antwi, and all pastors and officers in the Area for their show of love to the inmates.

“This will go a long way to feed inmates. This year’s Christmas will be special for inmates and it is all because of what The Church of Pentecost has done.

“Most of the prisoners have not enjoyed such since imprisonment. This time the story will be different, they will enjoy the meal in high spirits.

“When they are hungry, it distracts us a lot but with this food, we are confident that our challenges have been lessened,” he said.

The Area Prisons Coordinator, Pastor Emmanuel Mantey, asserted that the act would not be a nine-day wonder.

He assured the inmates of free Bibles as requested.

Christmas Has Come Under Siege – Apostle Eric Nyamekye Bemoans

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost Worldwide, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has expressed grave concern about the clandestine move by some world leaders and powerful groups to suppress the celebration of Christmas, which marks the birth of Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world.

According to the revered cleric, “Satan is jealous about Christmas, so he is doing everything possible to expunge the name of Christ from Christmas and make it an ordinary holiday.

“We are in a conflict situation because there are strong forces to cancel Christmas. It was the Europeans who brought Christianity to Africa, but today the same people are scheming to destroy it,” he said.

He added: “There are certain individuals in the nations if they become president today, they will cancel Christmas the next day. So, as Christians, we need to be serious about the celebration of Christmas.”

The Chairman, therefore, called on Christians to fully embrace Christmas and celebrate it as such as they gather together and proclaim the love of God to humanity through the offering of His Son Jesus Christ as the Saviour of the world.

Apostle Eric Nyamekye said this on Christmas Sunday when addressing members of the church in East Legon District of the Madina Area at the Peniel Assembly Auditorium to climax the 2021 Christmas Convention which was on the theme: “Jesus Christ – The Light of the World” (Isaiah 9:1-7).

He took time to explain the essence of Christmas and how some powerful anti-Christian groups and individuals are planning to suppress its global significance and commemoration.

He said that the annual celebration of Christmas brings glory to God, and that there is an inseparable connection between the glory of God and the birth of Christ. He added that the fact that non-Christians observe it brings glory to God and affirms the fact that Jesus Christ is the Saviour of the world and not just a founder of a religion.

Because of this, he stated, Satan is struggling hard through some global institutions to take God out of the scene and make the period a normal holiday where people will make merry and enjoy themselves without recourse to Christ who is at the centre of the celebration.

Apostle Nyamekye revealed that in December this year, the European Commission attempted and is still pushing hard to expunge the word “Christmas” and simply keep the period as “holidays” since they think that the word “Christmas” is offensive to non-Christians. This, he said, “is a tactical approach by the enemy to get Christ out of the minds of humanity.”

Delivering the sermon on the topic, “The Magnificat” (Glory Be To God) based on Luke 1:46-55, 68; 2:29, he said that the Christmas story is the most beautiful and wonderful story ever told. The events heralding His birth – a virgin conceiving, a barren woman (Elizabeth) also conceiving, and angels announcing His birth – are all wonderful stories to be told.

He said that the story was wrapped up in three prophetic songs of praise sung by three persons. Mary (Jesus’ mother) sang the first song called ‘The Magnificat’ (Magnifies) in Luke 1:46.

The second prophetic song of praise called ‘The Benedictus’ (Blessed) was sung by Zacharia, father of John the Baptist in Luke 1:68, while Simeon, the old prophet, sang the third song called ‘Nunc Dimittis’ (Now Dismiss) in Luke 2:29 during the naming of Jesus.

Focusing on ‘The Magnificat,’ Apostle Nyamekye revealed that Mary was chosen by God to bring forth the Messiah because she was a virgin and also feared God.

He indicated that God’s mercies extend to those who fear Him in every generation. Reading from Psalm 34:11-14, he stated that the fear of God is connected to the obedience of God.

“The fear of God is also about putting the will of God above ours, despite our feelings and perspectives on a matter,” he said.

He added: “The acid test for a good Christian is in how much the fellow fears the Lord.”

Apostle Eric Nyamekye advised believers to fear God and do His bidding to experience the mercies of God for their lives.

The service was like a homecoming for the Chairman and his wife, Mary who once served as a District Minister for the district after their return from missions in South Africa. The Chairman and his wife received a tumultuous welcome from the members amidst cheers and shouts of praises. On behalf of his family, Apostle Nyamekye thanked them for their support and prayers which have helped him rise to the top.

Present at the service were Apostle George Kwaku Narh (retired), and the host Minister, Pastor Patrick Kobina Bremansu, and his wife Gifty, among others.
