Arm Yourself With God’s Word – Prophet Appiah Charges Christians

Prophet Ebenezer Appiah, the Dansoman Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, has urged Christians to arm themselves with the Sword of the Spirit (Word of God) to fight all battles.

Speaking on the topic: “Equipping the Church with the Sword of the Spirit,” at the ongoing 2022 Ministers and Wives Conference at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa-Fetteh, near Kasoa in the Central Region, Prophet Appiah said the Word of God has always been known as a defensive weapon for Christians, but it is also an offensive weapon that is used through word of mouth.

Prophet Appiah emphasised that the Bible is the manual given by God to direct man’s thoughts and intents, reveal God’s intents, and outline the records of the past for references, and should thus be used daily in all activities.

“Even though the Bible is full of histories, it also contains inspirations written by God to man,” he stated.

He described the nature of the Sword of the Spirit as having the ability to pierce the heart of man and having an influential nature that turns sinners towards God while charging the clergy to fight the devil’s efforts against them with the Bible.

Prophet Ebenezer Appiah disclosed that the Sword of the Spirit exists to remind Christians that they are in a fierce battle with the world. He urged that in equipping the Church with the Sword of the Spirit, members of the Church must make efforts to be trained and skilled in the use of the Sword of the Spirit, learn as much as they can about the Sword, and ask God to expose Himself to them through His Word, which will aid in the protection of their minds.

Church leaders, according to Prophet Ebenezer Appiah, are supposed to be equipped in all areas because they are the key frontiers before bringing members on board the equipping agenda.

“The Bible contains God’s mind, way of salvation. Read it to become wise and practice it to become holy. It contains light to guide us and food to nourish us. This is the Soldier’s sword,” he concluded.

Churches Must Raise Kingdom-Minded People -Apostle Nyamekye Urges

Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of The Church Pentecost, has charged churches in Ghana and around the world to raise Kingdom-minded people and send them out into the world to transform their spheres of influence.

He stated that in the past, great men such as Moses, who was with the church in the wilderness, and religious/social reformers such as John Wesley and Martin Luther were raised to bring deliverance and transformation to the world.

He noted that these believers were then sent back into their spheres of operation to transform them with Kingdom principles, values, and lifestyles such as the principle of work and the dignity of labour, service, respect for all, honesty, kindness, love, faithfulness, truthfulness, forgiveness, contentment, humility, integrity in word and deed, and moral uprightness that qualify one as a people belonging to God.

“While in the world, the above Christians, who have been equipped by the church with skills and knowledge, use the most powerful method available to evangelise,” he said when he addressed the opening session of The Church of Pentecost’s 2022 Ministers and Wives’ Conference at Gomoa Fetteh, near Kasoa.

Although raising godly people to transform society around the world is a difficult task, Apostle Nyamekye believes God will make it happen if the church takes the necessary steps.

He added that: “when the Church realises its true identity and fulfills its function in this world, it will become the most powerful institution in this world.”

2022 Ministers & Wives Conference Opens

The Church of Pentecost’s 2022 Ministers and Wives Conference has begun in all the eight regional centres across the country with a call on the clergy, as well as officers to intentionally equip the members with the amour of God.

The full armour of God comprises the Belt of Truth, the Breastplate of Righteousness, the Gospel of Peace, the Shield of Faith, the Helmet of Salvation, and the Sword of the Spirit.

The annual prayer and teaching conference which is under the main theme of the year, “Equipping the Church As An Army to Possess the Nations” (Heb. 13:20-21; Eph. 4:11-12; 6:10-11), was officially opened by the Chairman of the Church, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa-Fetteh, near Kasoa in the Central Region. It is expected to end on Friday, January 28, 2022, at all centres.

In his opening remarks, Apostle Nyamekye said the overall goal of Vision 2023 is to create a church where members go to possess their nations by transforming all worldviews and behaviours with Kingdom values, principles, and lifestyles.

“The goal is to transform individuals and societies by instilling godly principles and values in them. When society is corrupt, we should not be satisfied with so many churches. The church should be the salt of the earth, transforming society’s decay,” he stated.

According to Apostle Nyamekye, the focus of the 2022 theme is not to take up arms to overthrow any government, but rather to replace world systems with Kingdom values and principles.

The church’s 2022 theme, he further explained, calls for a vigorous and intentional equipping of the church in order to have every single member assume the posture of an army of the Lord, taking nations for Christ.

“The church has always been at odds with the world, but the focus of the theme 2022 would be on defensive mechanisms. We want every member of the church to understand that we are equipping them in everything we do,” he stressed.

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost believes that when the church members are fully equipped, they will be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power, able to stand up to the devil’s schemes.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, this year’s conference is being held at the regional level. More than 500 ministers and their wives in all the 13 administrative areas in the Greater Accra Region, comprising La, Kaneshie, Teshie-Nungua, Achimota, Madina, Dansoman, Odorkor, Tema, Ashaiman, Haatso, Anyaa-Ablekuma, Kasoa, and Downtown-Ofaakor are meeting at the PCC.

On Wednesday, the Chairman will attend the Volta and Oti Regions conference in Ho, which will be followed by the Central Regional bloc, which will be held in Winneba.

On the other hand, the General Secretary, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, will attend the Eastern Regional Conference in Koforidua on Wednesday before departing for Tamale on Thursday to attend the session of the five Northern Regions, namely the Northern, Upper East, Upper West, North-East, and Savanna.

The International Missions Director, Apostle Emmanuel Agyemang Bekoe, will also be in the Ashanti and the Bono-Ahafo regions.

Kwadaso Organises All English Assemblies Conference

The Kwadaso Area of The Church of Pentecost has organised a day’s conference for Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC) and all English assemblies in the Area.

The programme was held under the theme: “Equipping The Church As An Army To Possess The Nations.”

Participants to the conference were drawn from PIWC Kwadaso and English assemblies from all 17 districts in the Area.

In his opening address, the Area Head, Apostle John Budu Kobina Tawiah, mentioned that the English assemblies exist to create space for people who have challenges in communicating in the local dialects.

According to him, most of the PIWCs and Worship Centres in the church started as English assemblies and have now grown to become mega churches.

He acknowledged the role played by many of the church’s leaders, especially Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah in making this vision a reality.

Apostle Tawiah acknowledged the indispensable role the English assemblies play in the growth of The Church of Pentecost, saying, “You have become the economic powerhouse of the church.”

He added that the Worship Centres and English assemblies are seen as the hub of human resource in the church, which the church would want to harness to strengthen its leadership structure.

Because of the immense role the English assemblies and the PIWCs play, he admonished the members to take good care of themselves as far as their spiritual development is concerned.

Zeroing in on Vision 2023, Apostle Tawiah mentioned that it has created many avenues for ministry work which the English assemblies should avail themselves for. He particularly mentioned Schools Outreach Ministry, Chaplaincy, MPWDs, Counselling, among others. He also urged them to help in the mobilisation of members into squads so that no one stays idle.

Other Speakers were Pastor Kofi Antwi Boasiako (District Minister for Santasi), and Pastor Samuel Asiamah (Resident Minister of PIWC Kwadaso). They spoke on the English Assembly Concept and Excellence in English Assemblies respectively.

Obuasi Area Holds ‘Direction 2022’

‘Direction 2022,’ a three-day prayer and fasting programme organised by the Obuasi Area of The Church of Pentecost, under the leadership of Apostle William Boakye Agyarko, has ended.

The programme which was held under the theme: “It is not in the hands of man on how to direct his feet” (Jeremiah 10:23), took place from January 3rd to 5th 2022.

Apostle William Boakye Agyarko in his keynote address said that it is the Lord who directs the steps of the righteous and not by their own strength. He said that Prophet Jeremiah prayed to God for solutions to happenings among the Israelites due to their worship of lesser gods such as Baal.

He advised members to refrain from making blasphemous utterances that dare God when they encountered difficulties beyond their control. He explained that God cautioned the Israelites anytime they sought protection outside Him and could not receive it, yet Jeremiah interceded for God’s mercy upon the nation.

He indicated that God is available to protect His children from the traps of the enemy if only they allowed Him to lead them and focus solely on Him.

“Satan is like a hunter who would always set a trap but God would always deliver His people to reach their final destination,” he said.

He added: “If only you walk in the steps of the Lord Jesus Christ, He will be your anchor when the storms arise.”

Apostle William Boakye Agyarko charged the church to seek divine directions from God anytime they make major decisions in their lives.

The guest speaker, Apostle John Appiah Aidoo (Abuakwa Area Head), in his submission, entreated the members to trust in God to bless and deliver them from the plans of enemies.

Apostle Appiah Aidoo emphasized that it is the strength of the Lord that brings victory to the children of God.

WHY NATURAL DISASTERS ... WHERE IS GOD IN ALL OF THAT - Apostle Seth Kwame Fianko-Larbi (Kenya National Head of The Church of Pentecost)

WHY NATURAL DISASTERS? … WHERE IS GOD IN ALL OF THAT?

1. God allows disasters to happen because He has given us freewill to choose and experience the consequences.

2. Disaster is always not God’s punishment against the sins of people. When a disaster is God’s punishment against a particular sin, He says so. Examples are Noah’s Flood; Sodom and Gomorrah and Hell Fire coming against people’s rejection of Christ as punishment for their sins.

3. God causes NATURAL EVENTS which are different from natural disasters. Natural Events are a result of the interaction of the forces of nature. Natural events are not a result of the sins of humanity, because they do happen on other planets. It is important to remember that, although natural events occur, the extent to which they occur on Earth seems to be within boundaries, so that life is possible.

4. Other planets, such as Venus, possess hundreds of volcanoes, and volcanic plains cover 80-85% of its surface. Neptune and Jupiter have storms that make ours look tiny by comparison and call for a redefinition of the term ‘extreme weather.’ On Earth, the most powerful hurricane, a Category 5, may reach 249kph, whereas on the gaseous planet of Jupiter they may be as strong as 400kph. Jupiter is most well-known for its Great Red Spot – an anticyclone 20,000 kilometers long and 12,000 wide, larger than two Earths put together, with an average temperature of -163Oc. This storm is so large that it consumes smaller storms and has been around for at least 400 years.

5. On Venus and Jupiter, and every other planet we know of, life, as we know it, is untenable.

6. Natural events have great benefits to God’s creation. For instance, after a volcanic eruption, the soil becomes rich due to the nutrients from the volcano. Precious stones and gems that were once deep within the earth are brought to the earth’s surface and will contribute greatly to the economy of the country. Some valuable emissions from volcanoes are pumice, opal, gold, mercury, and metals. It also releases good chemicals into the atmosphere – chemicals such as carbon dioxide and hydrogen that contribute to the water cycle.

7. Natural events only become disastrous when humans stay in their way such as when we build in waterways and in the way of earthquakes. Why will humans stay in the path of natural events when cattle even run to high grounds before tsunami and birds go quiet before a storm?

8. Natural events will continue to happen but we can reduce the probability of it becoming a natural disaster when we stay out of its predicted course and also avoid corruption and build strong systems and infrastructure.

9. The Richter scale measures the magnitude of an earthquake (how powerful it is). Earthquake is measured using a machine called a seismometer which produces a seismograph. A Richter scale is normally numbered 1-10, though there is no upper limit.

10. Comparing two earthquakes of similar severity, California in 1989 (m6.9) and Haiti in 2010 (m7.0), highlights how corruption and poverty influence the impact of earthquake on people. 57 people died in California, whereas 230,000 died in Haiti. It is therefore obvious that, although people are generally not responsible for the natural event itself, poverty, corruption and injustice caused by human greed and folly, undoubtedly add to the death toll.

11. All that said, Jesus clearly says in Luke 13:1-5 that natural disaster is not because people have sinned; it can happen to anyone who stands in the way of natural events. However, if a person does not turn to Christ and he/she dies (through or outside of natural disaster), they have perished (died without Christ as Saviour and Lord). Lord have mercy!

12. Even when natural disasters happen, God is present to help the situation through the hearts and hands of compassionate human beings around. So where is God in natural disasters? Through the hands and hearts of compassionate people.

The Church of Pentecost Leadership Visits Explosion Site

The Church of Pentecost Leadership Visits Explosion Site

Apostle Onyinah Gyamfi, the Bogoso Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, and a team of church ministers and their wives in the Bogoso Area, yesterday visited the explosion site at Apiate as well as the victims at the hospital, to pray for them and encourage the relatives of the deceased.

A vehicle transporting mining explosives caught fire at the small town of Apiate on Thursday afternoon and exploded about 15 minutes later, causing devastating destruction to lives and properties. The explosion split the main road in half, resulting in a deep valley in the middle.

One of the church’s buildings was also demolished due to the explosion. Some church members are also believed to be injured or dead. Both the dead and the injured have been transported to the morgue, as well as nearby hospitals and clinics, respectively.

According to eyewitnesses, a motorcycle attempting to pass the truck lost control and ended up underneath it. The motorcycle was pulled alongside the truck, and the resulting sparks of fire caused an explosion that impacted the entire community, killing many people and causing significant damage to buildings and property.

PENSA GHANA APPRECIATES ALL (2)

PENSA GHANA APPRECIATES ALL

About 42 years ago, some young men caught the passion to organise programmes for tertiary students who are members of The Church of Pentecost. This dream materialised brought about the Annual PENSA Conference which sought to gather students at both pre-tertiary and tertiary levels for fellowship.
Notable among the young persons who spearheaded the organisation of PENSA Conferences are Peter Ohene Kyei (now Prof and a retired Apostle), James Smith Gyimah (now a retired Apostle), Elder Anane Boate, Elder John Abraham Larkai, among others.

The idea was accepted by the leadership of the Church led by then General Secretary, Apostle Joseph Egyir Painstil (now of blessed memory). The leadership of the church did not just accept the concept, but contributed immensely in terms of money and ensured that the maiden conference was a huge success.
This support by leadership has been sustained up till now, and PENSA Ghana Conference 2022 was not an exception. The Executive Council kept directing us and blessing the conference with intense prayer support.
It is worth mentioning that the leadership of the Church reduced this year’s conference fee from GHS 150.00 to GHS 130.00 to offer many young people the opportunity to participate in it.

The leadership of the Youth Ministry under whose wings PENSA thrives deserves a special mention for their unflinching support towards the activities of PENSA and the annual conferences.
PENSA is grateful to all our dear fathers; Area Heads and District Ministers of the Church for always supporting the youth and sponsoring them to participate in PENSA Conferences.
Special thanks go to the Travelling Secretaries and Resident PENSA Campus Pastors for their hard work in organising the conference not forgetting their sleepless nights, long meetings, coupled with providing regular updates. God is not unjust and He won’t forget your labour of love.
And to the local presbyteries and entire membership of the Church and the churches of associate members, thank you for accepting PENSA and for always supporting and releasing their members to the conferences.
