Pentecost University VC Advises Children To Develop A Positive Mindset

The Vice-Chancellor of Pentecost University, Apostle Prof. Kwabena Agyapong-Kodua, has advised children to develop the right mindset in order to take hold of the future.

Apostle Prof. Agyapong-Kodua gave this advice at an event dubbed: “Time with the Professions” organised by the La Area Children’s Ministry at the Dr. Thomas Wyatt Temple.

In his presentation, which he titled “The Mindset to Possess the Future,” the VC said that the only way one could ‘possess the future’ is to have the right mindset, which, according to him, is the hallmark of all great and successful people.

To develop the right mindset, the children should adopt these five mantras: “My God is in charge,” “I can do it,” “Problems are opportunities,” “The number 3 consists of 1 and 1 and 1,” and “I must be intentional about appropriate friendship.”

He explained that every young person needs the two-hands approach, where they believe strongly that their God is in charge of every situation in their lives, be it good or bad.

Quoting Nehemiah 4:17, he noted that, while putting up the temple, those who carried materials did their work with one hand and held a weapon in the other. In the same way, children should use one hand for skill and knowledge and the other for the Bible and spirituality, because they go hand-in-hand, he added.

He stressed that “Christianity is not for the poor as we are made to believe; a Christian can equally be rich as any other.”

He also advised the children to develop the “I Can Do” spirit, believe in themselves and have confidence in their abilities. He encouraged them to take their education seriously because God desires that they succeed academically, stressing that: “Education reduces the risk of poverty.”

He further urged them to be intentional about the kind of friends they make.

“You should be conscious of who you call a friend and introduce your friends to your parents. Friends can make and unmake you,” he advised.

Apostle Prof. Agyapong-Kodua ended his presentation by urging the children to be good students, always prepare before going to class, be punctual, join peer study groups, make good use of academic staff (office hours), engage in extra-curricular activities; and adequately prepare for exams/assessment.

11-Year-Old Boy Leads Father To Christ

It was a great moment to behold when Mr. Isaac Annan stepped forward to rededicate his life to Christ in obedience to an altar call made by his 11-year-old son, Eugene Acquah Annan, at an evangelism rally last Saturday in Accra.

This rally was organised by the Mt. Carmel Assembly Children’s Ministry of the Pentecost University (PU) District in the Odorkor Area at Sowutuom (close to the Police station) as part of the recently held ‘National Ministries’ Rally;’ jointly organised by the Youth, Men, Women, Evangelism and Children’s Ministries of the church nationwide.

At the said event, the 13-year-old Karen Baah-Botwe preached a compelling gospel message on the main theme of the rally: “Behold, Jesus Christ Is Coming, Are You Ready? With Scripture readings from Revelation 1:7 and Matthew 22:44, Karen preached on the second coming of Christ and what it means for all those who have not accepted Christ as Lord and Saviour. She then admonished all and sundry to believe in Jesus Christ and be saved in order to escape the Lord’s wrath on His imminent return.

After the sermon, Eugene, also a Sunday School child of the Assembly, was called upon to lead the altar call and encourage unbelievers in the audience to respond to the message by surrendering their lives to Christ. As he called out to all who were yet to do so, Eugene saw the session as a great opportunity to call out his father, a backslidden Christian, to rededicate his life to Christ.

Without hesitation, his father obliged and stepped forward to accept Christ amidst great cheer and amazement from the audience. Together with two other adults and two children, Mr. Annan was led to dedicate his life to Christ to the glory of God.

In an interview with PENTECOST NEWS after the event, Mr. Annan said, “I have finally come to the realisation that indeed Jesus is Lord, and now I am ready to follow and serve Him willingly.”

The outreach was preceded by an aggressive house-to-house evangelism exercise led by the children and the distribution of gospel tracts to passersby.

The National Ministries Rally was held from September 20-26, 2021, under the theme: “Behold, Jesus Christ is Coming, Are You Ready?” The Youth Ministry led the service on Monday, the Women’s Ministry led on Tuesday, whilst the Evangelism and Men’s ministries spearheaded the services on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday was, however, earmarked for an intense prayer session with new converts for the baptism of the Holy Spirit and spiritual gifts. The Children’s Ministry, on the other hand, spearheaded the service on Saturday. The weeklong exercise was climaxed on Sunday morning with the Gospel Sunday service.

The donation also came with 1000 instructional manuals for teachers to help them equip children in the use of the Bibles. In addition to the items, the President of the Staff Representative body, Elder Daniel Tetteh, personally donated five copies of Good News Bibles to the ministry.

The Bibles were sponsored by the Bible League Ghana at the request of the Staff Body through Elder Yaw Arjarquah of Pent TV.

A delegation led by Elder Tetteh handed over the items to the directorate at a short presentation ceremony at the premises of The CoP Headquarters at La in Accra. The event was witnessed by Apostle Lawrence Otu-Nyarko (Finance and Administration Director, CoP Headquarters) and Elder Samuel Mantey (Human Resource Manager, CoP Headquarters).

Presenting the items, Elder Tetteh said that the donation was in fulfilment of a pledge made to the ministry some time ago. He was hopeful that the donation would aid the ministry’s quest to raise godly children to possess the nations and build tomorrow’s Church today.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Children’s Ministry, the Children’s Director of the Church, Pastor Prof. William Otoo Ellis, thanked the staff body and its leadership for the noble gesture.

“The word of God says, when you receive a child, you receive Christ, so just as you are giving Bibles to children, you are also giving Christ to them,” he said.

In a brief remark at the event, Apostle Otu-Nyarko encouraged the ministry to ensure that the items achieve their intended purpose.

“Receiving gifts are good, but receiving Bibles are excellent. We are, therefore, appealing to church leaders and the Children Ministry leaders at all levels of the Church to ensure that the Bibles get to the children,” he said.

He also added that children who are presented copies of the Bibles should be advised not to keep them as ‘trophies’ but read them because the ‘entrance of the Word gives life.’

Some members of the Staff leadership who were present at the ceremony were Mrs. Hannah Antwi-Boasiako (Assistant Secretary), Elder Samuel Aidoo (Organiser) and Elder William Akuamoah (Welfare Committee Chairman).

The One-Child-One-Bible project is an initiative of the Children’s Ministry which aims at making the word of God (the Bible) accessible to all children in the Church. The project seeks to raise at least one million copies of Bibles for children, especially those in remote parts of the country.
