The Konongo Area Women’s Ministry of The Church of Pentecost has donated assorted items to the Caring Homes Village at Yawkei, near Juaso, as part of the mandate to extend mercy and kindness to the homeless and the needy as stated in Proverbs 19: 17 (Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done).

The visit, which took place on Monday, May 3, 2021, was led by Mrs. Dora Owusu Akyaw (wife of the Area Head), supported by Pastor Daniel Adjabeng Kissi (Area Secretary), Deaconess Ruth Gyasi (Area Women’s Ministry Leader), and her team, among others.

The items included rice, toilet tissues, eggs, washing powder, detergents, assorted soft drinks and biscuits, medicated carbolic soaps, sanitary towels, among others.

They were received by the administrator of the Home, Mr. Adjei. On behalf of the Home, Mr. Adjei extended his profound gratitude to the church for the kind gesture. He appealed to the church to make the Village their second home by regularly visiting the inmates.

Through the visit, management of the Home has allowed the church to hold regular fellowship with the inmates of the facility.

The La Area Virtuous Ladies Coordinator of The Church of Pentecost, Deaconess Belinda Beatrice Asamoah Asare, has charged Christian ladies to intentionally and consciously save and invest to secure their future in this changing world.

She made the call during the La Area Virtuous Ladies meeting held at Dr. Thomas Wyatt Temple, on Saturday, April 24, 2021, on the theme: “The Virtuous Lady in a Changing World – A study on Financial and Wealth Creation.”

In her presentation, and with scriptural references to Matthew 6:33; and Jeremiah 9:12-15; Deaconess Belinda Beatrice Asamoah Asare said that for women to succeed in their financial and wealth creation, they must be prepared to follow certain principles, first of which is to put God first in all that they do, by daily communing with Him.

Reading from Proverbs Chapter 31, she underscored the need for ladies to consciously save, invest, and be financially independent to secure their future in times of crises. Like the virtuous woman in the Bible, virtuous ladies must be hardworking, reliable, problem solvers, result-oriented, and achievers, she added.

Deaconess Belinda Beatrice Asare noted that savings is the basic root of wealth creation. According to her, at least 10 to 20 percent of one’s total monthly income must be saved for future purposes.

“The current state of the world due to the COVID-19 pandemic is a sign of unpredictable future occurrences, and that calls for proper planning,” she indicated.

She advised women to stop impulse buying, and learn to say “No,” to external pressures and extended families, saying, “Have a budget for yourself and your family.”

She further admonished them to invest in themselves. “Seek knowledge; empower yourself in education, trade, and or apprenticeship programmes to help sustain you in future,” she said.

In attendance were the La Area Head and his wife, Apostle John and Mrs. Mary Osei Amaniampong; the Area Women’s Ministry Executives led by Deaconess Georgina Zekpa, and some wives of ministers in the Area.

The Women’s Ministry of The Church of Pentecost in the Asamankese Area has equipped its members with skills in the production of hair food, hair shampoo and shower gel.

This training programme coincided with the maiden visit of the newly appointed Women’s Director of the Church, Deaconess Philomina Mireku, and her deputy, Deaconess Vivian Amfo, to the Area’s All Women’s Conference. The event took place at the James Mckeown Memorial Temple, Asamankese on Tuesday, April 20, 2021.

The event was attended by the Area Head, Apostle Isaac Ekow Eshun, ministers and their wives in the Area and women from the 18 districts in the Area. It was facilitated by Mrs. Daniella Eshun, wife of the Area Head, and the leadership of the ministry.

Mrs. Eshun and the Area Women’s Ministry Leader, Deaconess Doris Osafo Gyimah, were hopeful that the skills acquired from the training would serve as additional source of income to the women and cater for the usage of effective and friendly personal hygiene products.

Participants expressed their appreciation to the Area Head and leadership of the ministry for organising the programme.

The Teshie-Nungua Area Women’s Ministry has held a prayer meeting at the Agnes Boahemaa Gyimah Memorial Temple at Nungua, Accra, on Wednesday, April 21, 2021.

The participants, mainly executives of the ministry from the local, district, and Area levels, as well as all deaconesses and wives of officers, were drawn from the 26 districts of the Area.

Speaking on the topic, “Commitment” the wife of the Coco Beach District Minister of the church, Mrs. Felicia Broohm, encouraged the women to develop a deep love and commitment towards the work of the ministry and the church at large.

Using the story of Ruth in the book of Ruth 1:16-17, she urged women leaders to develop the commitment that Ruth had towards her mother-in-law Naomi which made her follow her irrespective of what the outcome may be.

“We should be ready to be committed to the Lord in all circumstances whether we get our problems solved or not,” she said, adding, “Ruth was ready to follow Naomi even if it meant she would not marry again.”

She observed that sometimes when ministry leaders are changed, people get hurt and change their attitude; “Outgoing women leaders should not attempt to sabotage the work of incoming executives or sit aloof as if they are not concerned about what is happening in the ministry,” she said.

She urged deaconesses, officers’ wives, and ministry leaders to adopt a serving spirit and not to relegate service at the house of God to the background. As women leaders, it is our duty to clean the churches and make sure that people are comfortable in the house of God, she stated.

“These days, our deaconesses appear tired and are not participating in the cleaning services,” Mrs. Broohm said, adding, “Let’s try as much as possible to play our role. We must work if we want our rewards.

“When we were new on the job, we worked with all our hearts but now it appears our love has grown cold. Let us wake up to our responsibilities as women leaders and support the church for greater growth.”

Mrs. Broohm further admonished them to desist from showing church members the way to prayer centres where they believe they can get quick solutions to their physical and spiritual problems, but rather lead them to the church.

“How can you leave our great God and pursue others for solutions? God is in our churches and is ready to solve our problems, we only have to keep on fasting and praying,” she said.

The prayer meeting was organised by the leadership of the Area Women’s Ministry.

The Area Women’s Leader, Deaconess Sophia Nana Arthur, was grateful to the women for participating in the prayers in their numbers.

The La Area Women’s Ministry of The Church of Pentecost has held an annual thanksgiving service to celebrate the goodness and faithfulness of God over their lives and families.

The event which took place at the Dr Thomas Wyatt Auditorium in Accra on January 14, 2021, had the wife of the General Secretary of the church, Mrs. Rose Dansoa Kumi-Larbi, as the main speaker.

In a presentation, Mrs. Kumi-Larbi advised Christians to be thankful to God at all times and celebrate His goodness, both in season and out of season.

She noted that showing gratitude to God is supposed to be a lifestyle of every Christian. “It should not be a one-day show-off or only at church meetings. Rather, it should be a regular practice where members are grateful at any point in time of their lives; for that is the true and acceptable worship to God,” she stated.

Reading from Ephesians 5: 20, she charged Christian women to thank God because He has the bigger picture of each individual’s lives. “It is God alone who knows who should live, and who should die,” she revealed.

The General Secretary’s wife noted that when Christians thank God, especially in difficult moments, it shows how much faith they have in God.

Also quoting from Psalm 138: 1-8, she indicated that David was in great distress at the time he wrote the psalm. She said that although things were not working in his favour, he still deemed it fit to thank God, saying, “David remembered and considered all the love, kindness, goodness, and faithfulness God had shown him in the past, with the hope that He can and would take care of his present, as well as his future troubles and fears.”

Mrs. Rose Kumi-Larbi reiterated that when believers cry out to God in praise in their distress moments, God gives them courage and strength to sail through to victory. “You don’t praise and thank God only when all is well with you. We must also praise God in tough times, and even for the fact that He has preserved your life throughout the period,” she noted.

According to her, just as David was thankful to God at all times, believers should equally thank God in the market, home, office, church, etc. “Let’s also thank God for His love, forgiveness of sins, and His word which guides our steps each day,” she stressed.

Concluding her message, Mrs. Rose Kumi-Larbi advised believers to always thank God for His promises and assurances of eternal life and glory in His word.

In attendance were the La Area Head, Apostle John Osei Amaniampong, the Area Women’s Leader, Deaconess Georgina Zepah, and her team, among others.

In line with the “Possessing the Nations” agenda of The Church of Pentecost, the Women’s Ministry of Aboabo District in the Obuasi Area of the church has constructed a pavilion at the Aboabo Health Centre for antenatal and weighing purposes at a total cost of GHS 8,000.00. 

The Obuasi Area Head, Apostle William Boakye Agyarko, on Sunday, February 21, 2021, dedicated the facility and handed it over to the Nana Owusu Ansah (Regent of Aboabo No. 2) and people of the community. The Area Head was supported by the District Minister, Overseer Justice Ahadzi, as well as the pastorate and wives in the Adansi Asokwa Zone. Also in attendance was the Asokwa District Health Director, Mr. David Kunta.

Others present were Mr. Henry Basity Owusu (Physician Assistant of Aboabo Health Centre), the elders of Aboabo No. 2 and opinion leaders, among others.

Using Jeremiah 29:7 as his scripture reference, Apostle Boakye Agyarko stated that just as the Israelites, who were admonished by God to seek the welfare of Babylon – where they had been taken captive at the time, the church also seeks to offer help or support to the community in which it operates. 

He added that the facility is, therefore, a fulfilment of the Church’s strategic agenda of transforming society through partnerships with the government and other state institutions in providing key interventions to facilitate the development of the nation.

According to him, as part of the “Possessing the Nations” agenda, the Church seeks to meet the social needs of the people in various communities, hence, the construction of the pavilion.

He commended Overseer Ahadzi, and his wife, Mrs. Kafui Ahadzi, whose personal initiative and hard work led to the successful project.

Overseer Ahadzi Justice, in a short speech, acknowledged his wife for the instrumental role she played first by initiating the idea and spearheading the mobilisation of funds for the project. He was also grateful to all donors for their benevolence. He ended his speck by extending gratitude to the Women’s Ministry, Officers, and the members for their various supports in realising the vision.

The leaders and people of the Aboabo community were happy about the donation and commended the church and the Women’s Ministry for the timely gesture.

The Ho-Dome District of The Church of Pentecost has organised a day’s vocational training and workshop for the women in the church.

The training programme, which took place on December 20, 2020, at Dome Central Assembly, saw many young women taking part in the exercise to enable them to provide for their families.

A total of 70 persons which included non-members of the church participated in the workshop. They acquired skills in interior and exterior decorations, in addition to learning how to cook healthy and tasty meals.

According to Mrs Judith Viku, wife of the Ho-Dome District Minister, the trainees were taken through the preparation of a variety of dishes with easy-to-find and low-cost ingredients such as yam and sweet potato to prepare chips, fruit juice, among others.

Mrs Viku entreated the ladies to continue to value the use of local fruits and vegetables in cooking for a healthy living.

The facilitator, Mrs Epiphaniel Tamakloe, encouraged the participants to take advantage of the job creation opportunities and skills they had acquired to generate income to complement their incomes.

According to her, vocational training which includes the development of technical capacity, entrepreneurship, and business skills is demand-oriented and builds specific skills tailored to prospective employers’ needs which plays a key role in helping girls get jobs.

The Odorkor Area Women’s Ministry of The Church of Pentecost has constructed a bus stop shelter at a total cost of GHS 22, 000.00 for the Weija community and its environs.

The facility, situated at the Weija junction, was handed over to the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, by the Area Women’s Ministry, Deaconess Mrs. Martha Ankomah and other Ministry Executive Committee members at a brief ceremony.

The donation is in fulfilment of the church’s social responsibility to the community.

Present at the ceremony were the Area Head, Apostle Patrick Aseyoro, Apostle Dr. Christian Tsekpoe (Resident Minister, A-Lang Worship Centre), Pastor Abraham Addae Agyeman (Odorkor District Minister) and the Odorkor Area pastorate. Also present were representatives of the municipal assembly.

The Roman Ridge District Women’s Ministry in the La Area of The Church of Pentecost has donated items worth GH¢ 3,700.00 to the inmates of the Senior Correctional Centre (Borstal Institute) of the Ghana Prisons Service.

The District Minister, Pastor Clement Achim Gyimah, and his wife Beatrice, on Saturday, December 26, 2020, led a delegation made up of Elder Michael Opare Attuah (La Area Deacon), and the Roman Ridge District Women’s Leader, Deaconess Comfort Osei Agyen, and her team, to donate the items which included assorted food items, clothing, and toiletries to the centre, which is located within the district.

In a short address, Pastor Achim Gyimah said that the donation was part of the activities outlined for the 2020 Christmas Convention.

He noted that the exercise was to make people in their immediate surroundings feel the presence of the church during the Christmas celebrations.

DSP Leon T. E. Mills received the items on behalf of the facility. He thanked the church for remembering them in the festive season. He appealed to the church to continue with the kind gesture.
