The Sunyani Area of The Church of Pentecost, headed by Apostle Mark Obeng Andoh, has donated 377 pieces of wax prints to the churches in Zimbabwe, Rwanda, and the Seychelles Island as well as some Internal Missions areas in Ghana. In addition to the wax prints, the Area presented an amount of GHS 4,750.00 for the purchase of a motorbike for the church in Rwanda.

Out of the 377 pieces of wax prints, Internal Missions areas (Ghana) received 77 pieces, while Zimbabwe, Rwanda, and the Seychelles Island received 100 pieces each.

The items were presented to the International Missions Directorate at the General Headquarters in Accra recently by the Sunyani Area Missions Committee Chairman, Pastor Theodore Akpalolo, on behalf of the Area Head, Apostle Mark Obeng Andoh.

Receiving the items on behalf of the International Missions Director (IMD), Apostle Emmanuel Gyesi-Addo, the Personal Assistant to the IMD, Pastor Gideon Kofi Boadu-Yirenkyi, thanked the Sunyani Area for the donation.

Heads’ Consultative Meeting Begins Ahead Of 45th General Council Meeting

The two-day consultative meeting of Area and National Heads of The Church of Pentecost began on Monday, May 3, 2021, ahead of the 45th General Council Meeting scheduled to take place tomorrow.

The event, which also has participants from the Francophone and Spanish Bloc, is being held virtually (via Zoom).

The Heads’ consultative meeting is held perennially to provide Apostles, Prophets and Evangelists of the church the opportunity to prayerfully contribute to some key decisions made by the Executive Council that are to be tabled before the General Council for ratification.

Welcoming participants to the meeting, the Chairman of the church, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, underscored the delicate role of the Executive Council as the body of the church that is responsible for ensuring the proper administration of every aspect of the church’s life.

He said that there is the need for the heads’ consultative meeting because “in the multitude of counsel there is safety.”

“So please do not deny us of your sanctified contributions. Rather, let us all contribute to building a better church for our children and future generations,” he urged.

Earlier, Apostle James Raj, the National Head for India and a member of the Executive Council shared with participants a sermon titled “It Is Time to Arise,” inspired by Isaiah 60:1-2, Ezekiel 37:3-10 and other scripture references.

He explained that Adam was created in the shining glory of God, but he lost it because of sin.

Apostle Raj said that through His death and resurrection, Jesus has restored the glory of God to the Church; therefore, the Church ought to show forth this glory to the world.

Referring to Ephesians 5:8 and 14, he stressed that the Church, which was once in darkness, is now called to be part of the Kingdom of Light. He, therefore, charged the Church to show forth this light, which, according to him, is the demonstration of the power of the Holy Spirit through signs and wonders.

He said for the Church to rise as a glorious army, it must make prayer its foremost priority. This, he said, is because prayer connects the Church to the Father. 

He also explained that the unadulterated word of God and love for one another are other essentials that the Church ought to possess to show forth the glory of God.

According to him, glory in this context represents rulership or dominion, hence, the Church must assume their position of dominance which Adam lost, and which Jesus restored.

“Jesus Christ has glorified the Church. In these last days, the Church must demonstrate this glory by having authority and rulership over the world. The glory is in the Church, God is in the Church. So, Church arise and shine and show forth the glory of God to the world!” he charged.

He further noted that “when the Church shows forth her light nations and kings will come to her and this will make it easier to possess the nations.”

Apostle Raj said the world today is hopeless and going through desperate times; however, the Holy Spirit is ready to raise the Church as an army in the world to bring it the hope it is direly yearning for.

PIWC-Sakumono Wins 52 Souls In Tsopoli Outreach

The Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC) – Sakumono in the Teshie-Nungua Area of The Church of Pentecost, has won 52 souls to the glory of God during a rural outreach to Tsopoli in the Tema Area.

The outreach which took place on Saturday, April 17, 2021, began with intensive prayer upon arrival at the community. The team then embarked on house-to-house evangelism, dawn broadcast by the advance team, a film show, medical screening, and sharing of clothes, toiletries, shoes, and other non-perishable food items to the community people.

The District Evangelism Ministry Leader, Nana Obrempong Owusu, was full of appreciation to the Almighty God for the success of the outreach. He admonished churches to continuously share the word of God even in these difficult times of the global pandemic, saying, “During these difficult times, the love of God is what people need to share and God will glorify Himself.”

The Tsopoli District Minister of the church, Pastor Frank Mensah Tandoh, who was elated by the exercise, said that it has further enhanced the presence of The Church of Pentecost in the communities. “It’s been an inspirational outreach which has met both the spiritual and the physical needs of the people,” he said.

He expressed his gratitude to the leadership of PIWC–Sakumono for the outreach and prayed that the Lord would replenish everyone who helped and supported it.

The medical team attended to over 500 community members with about 300 being children below the ages of 15years.

According to the leader of the medical team, Dr. Mrs. Mercy Obrempong, it’s not enough to bring the gospel to the people and not attending to their health needs, hence the coming on-board of the medical team. She indicated that the medical team delivered health care in the area of deworming the children, dental care, eye screening, and also provided toothbrushes and paste to the kids. The blood pressure and sugar level, as well as some drugs and counselling services were provided to the people free of charge.

Praying for the team before they left for the outreach, the Resident Minister of PIWC-Sakumono, Pastor Anthony Owusu Sekyere Kwarteng, encouraged them to be bold and confident as missionaries of the Lord Jesus Christ.

“As a mission-minded church, our duty is to preach the gospel,” Pastor Kwarteng said.

Man Runs To Christ, Talisman Burnt

A 42-year-old man, Alexander Twumasi, last Sunday [April 25, 2021] was rescued by the Holy Spirit from satanic oppression after he ran to Christ in search of the peace of God for his soul.

According to Elder Godfred Asare, leader of the El-Shaddai Revival Centre of The Church of Pentecost in Konongo, Alex entered the church while service was in progress with visible signs of distress. During the altar call, he quickly moved forward to accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour.

Elder Asare said that while praying for Alex, the Holy Spirit revealed to him that some charms were around his waist. He said that Alex confirmed having those charms and magical rings on him which were tormenting him, but was afraid that when they are removed he would die.

Assuring him that he would not die, he brought out the charms to be burnt and instantly received his freedom after he was prayed for.

PENTSOS Ends Skills Training In Yendi Area

The Pentecost Social Services (PENTSOS), the social services wing of The Church of Pentecost, in collaboration with the Yendi Area of the church, has organised a 3-day residential skills training for members of the church in the Yendi Area.

This highly commendable event, which took place from 22nd to 24th April 2021 at the Yendi Central church auditorium, saw over 100 participants attending from all 28 districts of the Area.

In an address to open the training programme, the Area Head, Pastor Emmanuel Kojo Aidoo, expressed his appreciation to the PENTSOS Directorate for organising the event to equip the members in the Area. He admonished the participants to take the training seriously to improve their economic lives. He assured them of the church’s support for them to establish their businesses.

The participants acquired skills in the making of various pastries such as spring rolls, doughnuts, Chin-Chin, meat pie, ice cream, and yoghurt production.

The facilitators for the programme were Mrs. Lydia Ghanney from the Pentecost Vocational Training Institute, Gbawe-Accra, supported by Ms. Maame Sika from the PENTSOS Directorate.

Participants were supported with some items such as flour, sieves, saucepans, bottles of oil, rolling pins to help them practice and also establish their pastry businesses.

Certificates were also awarded to the participants.

Savings, A Necessary Tool To Wealth Creation – Deaconess Belinda Beatrice Asare

The La Area Virtuous Ladies Coordinator of The Church of Pentecost, Deaconess Belinda Beatrice Asamoah Asare, has charged Christian ladies to intentionally and consciously save and invest to secure their future in this changing world.

She made the call during the La Area Virtuous Ladies meeting held at Dr. Thomas Wyatt Temple, on Saturday, April 24, 2021, on the theme: “The Virtuous Lady in a Changing World – A study on Financial and Wealth Creation.”

In her presentation, and with scriptural references to Matthew 6:33; and Jeremiah 9:12-15; Deaconess Belinda Beatrice Asamoah Asare said that for women to succeed in their financial and wealth creation, they must be prepared to follow certain principles, first of which is to put God first in all that they do, by daily communing with Him.

Reading from Proverbs Chapter 31, she underscored the need for ladies to consciously save, invest, and be financially independent to secure their future in times of crises. Like the virtuous woman in the Bible, virtuous ladies must be hardworking, reliable, problem solvers, result-oriented, and achievers, she added.

Deaconess Belinda Beatrice Asare noted that savings is the basic root of wealth creation. According to her, at least 10 to 20 percent of one’s total monthly income must be saved for future purposes.

“The current state of the world due to the COVID-19 pandemic is a sign of unpredictable future occurrences, and that calls for proper planning,” she indicated.

She advised women to stop impulse buying, and learn to say “No,” to external pressures and extended families, saying, “Have a budget for yourself and your family.”

She further admonished them to invest in themselves. “Seek knowledge; empower yourself in education, trade, and or apprenticeship programmes to help sustain you in future,” she said.

In attendance were the La Area Head and his wife, Apostle John and Mrs. Mary Osei Amaniampong; the Area Women’s Ministry Executives led by Deaconess Georgina Zekpa, and some wives of ministers in the Area.

1,572 Souls Won At Youth Ministry ‘Campus Takeover’ Evangelism

The maiden edition of the ‘Campus Takeover’ evangelism of the Youth Ministry of The Church of Pentecost has won 1,572 to the glory of God. The ‘Campus Takeover’ evangelism is an initiative of the Youth Ministry Directorate of The Church of Pentecost with the primary goal of empowering Pentecost Students and Associates (PENSA) members to reach every person on every campus in Ghana with the Good News of Jesus Christ.

The event which took place from 8th to 14th March 2021, was held both virtually and physically. It was preceded by intensive prayers and three phases of training sessions for all PENSA leaders and members at the tertiary level.

The first phase of the training was held virtually for all PENSA Presidents, Secretaries, Evangelism Secretaries, and School Coordinators on January 31, 2021. Facilitators met at Pentecost International Worship Center (PIWC) Graceland in the Teshie-Nungua Area. Some of the topics treated included: “How To Do Effective One-On-One Evangelism” by Evangelist Kuma Doe; “The Core Message of the Gospel” by Apostle. Dr. Amos Jimmy Markin (Director, Evangelism Ministry) and “The Uniqueness of the Campus Context” by Elder Dr. Eric Appau Asante (Deputy Director, Youth Ministry).

Phase two of the training session was held on February 7, 2021, primarily for all Local Central Committee (LCC) members, Assistant leaders, and Shepherds of the various PENSA groups.

The Great Commission Movement of Ghana assisted with phase three of the training session for PENSA members nationwide on February 19, 2021. These training periods were used to strengthen and master the art of using the “Four Spiritual Laws” and the “Godtools App” to evangelise.

To climax a one-week prayer and fasting exercise toward the programme, a 12-hour Prayer Marathon was held at the institutional level on 6th March 2021 from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.

The main Campus Takeover Evangelism activities were held a week later across all PENSA groups nationwide. The period was utilised by the institutions according to their academic calendars and opportunities available.

The evangelistic campaigns employed included street evangelism (with/without placards), dawn broadcast, off-campus personal evangelism, lecture hall personal evangelism, room-to-room evangelism, social media evangelism, one-on-one evangelism, video evangelism, and sign language evangelism. The main emphasis, however, was on personal evangelism.

At the climax of the weeklong activities, 1,572 souls were won, 99 were baptised in water, and 118 rededicated their lives to Jesus Christ. Some of the spectacular events reported included a woman receiving instant healing from migraine; a woman receiving instant healing from chronic stomach ache; three Muslims surrendering their lives to Jesus Christ; and one healed of sickness. The rest of the spectacular events were; five students with hearing and speech impairment giving their lives to Christ out of which three were baptised in water, and a Rastafarian upon hearing the message without being led knelt to receive Jesus Christ.

The 2021 edition was a great success and the committee is grateful to all those who participated and contributed to the event.

The Youth Ministry intends to hold the programme annually to encourage personal evangelism among students on campus.

The Women’s Ministry of The Church of Pentecost in the Asamankese Area has equipped its members with skills in the production of hair food, hair shampoo and shower gel.

This training programme coincided with the maiden visit of the newly appointed Women’s Director of the Church, Deaconess Philomina Mireku, and her deputy, Deaconess Vivian Amfo, to the Area’s All Women’s Conference. The event took place at the James Mckeown Memorial Temple, Asamankese on Tuesday, April 20, 2021.

The event was attended by the Area Head, Apostle Isaac Ekow Eshun, ministers and their wives in the Area and women from the 18 districts in the Area. It was facilitated by Mrs. Daniella Eshun, wife of the Area Head, and the leadership of the ministry.

Mrs. Eshun and the Area Women’s Ministry Leader, Deaconess Doris Osafo Gyimah, were hopeful that the skills acquired from the training would serve as additional source of income to the women and cater for the usage of effective and friendly personal hygiene products.

Participants expressed their appreciation to the Area Head and leadership of the ministry for organising the programme.

Old Tafo-Akim District Holds HUM Easter Convention

The Home and Urban Missions’ (HUM) Restoration Assembly in the Old Tafo-Akim District under Koforidua Effiduase Area of The Church of Pentecost has organised an Easter convention. The convention which took place from 6th to 7th April, 2021, at Maranatha Assembly, Akyem Osiem, was on the theme, “Jesus Christ: Atonement for Our Sins” (1 John 2:2).

The afternoon sessions were used for evangelism in the ghettos at Osiem and its environs. The outreach activities yielded three new souls to join the assembly.

The Restoration Assembly, which currently has more than 40 active members, was inaugurated in February 2020, and it has since brought a great transformation in the lives of the members. Eleven members have so far received vocational training at the Pentecost Vocational Institute, Gbawe in mobile phone repairs, yogurt, ice cream and liquid soap preparations. Others were trained on fascinating and capping. Currently, two transformed ladies are being sponsored by the church for training in cosmetology and fashion design.

In an interview with PENTECOST NEWS, the District Minister, Pastor Prince Odoom, revealed that the district launched what he termed as ‘Operation Rescue Street Youth Project’ in February 2021 and has since won 35 souls.

Pastor Odoom further disclosed that the District’s Community Children’s Club that was opened and managed by himself and his wife in February 2020 with the purpose of winning street children for Christ, had 19 children transformed by the gospel message and integrated into their families, and have subsequently been enrolled in schools.

The slogan that has been carved for the HUM activities in the Old Tafo-Akim district is: “HUM, Jesus Christ is Interested in the Virgin Souls!”

Konongo Area Donates To The Church In Zambia

The Konongo Area of The Church of Pentecost, headed by Apostle Daniel Owusu-Akyaw, has donated 35 pieces of cloths and $2,000.00 USD to the church in Zambia.

The Area has also presented five big sacks of used clothes to given to the internal missions areas in Ghana.

The Area Missions Committee Chairman, Pastor Ebenezer Nketsia, together with the Area Secretary, Pastor Daniel Adjabeng Kissi, on behalf of the Area Head, made the donation to the International Missions Directorate at the Headquarters on Tuesday, April 27, 2021.

The Administrative Manager at the Office of the International Missions Director (IMD), Mrs. Victoria Kumi-Woode, and the Principal Accounts Officer at the Missions Office, Ruth G. Adjabeng, received the donation on behalf of the IMD, Apostle Emmanuel Gyesi-Addo.

Mrs. Kumi-Woode thanked the Area Head and the members of the Konongo Area for their support and kindness towards the work of missions.
