Queen Mother Accepts Christ During Ashanti Bekwai Chieftaincy Ministry Inauguration

Nana Afia Nyantah II, the Baamuhemaa of Bekwai, attended the inauguration ceremony for the Ashanti Bekwai Area Chieftaincy Ministry of The Church of Pentecost as a guest of honour. Little did she know that she was going to have a personal encounter with Christ.

Nana Nyantah made the decision to accept Jesus as her Lord and personal Saviour last Friday at the Bekwai Central Assembly after an exhortation delivered by Pastor Paul Quansah at the colourful event.

In his sermon, titled: “Using the Chieftaincy Institution to Achieve Vision 2023, Pastor Quansah explained that the aim of the five-year strategic vision of the church (Vision 2023) is to “possess the nations” by transforming every sphere of society with the values and principles of the kingdom of God.

He noted that the Chieftaincy institution is one of the most important institutions in society. He stressed that the chieftaincy institution is a noble institution through which God governs the affairs of men and, therefore, advised Christians to change their negative perception of chieftaincy.

Pastor Quansah also advised chiefs, queen mothers and royals to rule with God’s love, respect, and integrity.

The inauguration ceremony of the Ashanti Bekwai Area Chieftaincy Ministry, which was officiated by the Area Head, Apostle Fred Tiakor, had in attendance 26 royals, the area pastorate and their wives, as well as officers and members of the church.

Dichemso Royal Assembly Church Building Dedicated

The new auditorium of Dichemso Royal Assembly in the Yennyawoso District of The Church of Pentecost, has been dedicated to the glory of God.

The dedication ceremony, which took place on Sunday, May 15, 2022, was officiated by the New Tafo Area Head, Apostle Samuel Antwi, ably assisted by the District Minister, Pastor Charles Oduro, and other ministers and their spouses in the Area.

Speaking at the event, Apostle Samuel Antwi commended the Local Presbytery and the entire members for the strenuous effort made to put up such a magnificent building and urged them to cultivate good maintenance culture in order to prolong its lifespan.

In a sermon on the topic: “Pursue and Bring Back the Glory of God,” with the ark of God in focus, the Gabon National Head, Apostle Michael Agyen Brefo, underscored the importance of God’s glory in the life of a Christian and charged them to guard it at all times.

The ark of God, which according to him, represents the glory, power, holiness and presence of God is indispensable in the Christian living.

“We cannot do without the glory, power, and presence of God,” he stressed.

For this reason, he explained, David, having been made a king of Israel, sought to bring the ark of God, which was ignored during the reign of Saul, back to Jerusalem (1 Chronicles 15).

He incited Christians to have a good heart in their walk with God, just as David did.

“The difference between Saul and David was the heart with which they served God. David had a good heart and cared about the things of God,” he pointed out.

Apostle Michael Agyen Brefo further noted that God has a purpose for every Christian. He, thus, advised the gathering to always stay at the feet of the Lord so as to realise God’s purpose for their lives.

The magnificent edifice, which was constructed at a total cost of GH₵ 857,051.00, was financed by grants from the Headquarters, the Area, the District as well as offerings from the Local Assembly and contributions from benevolent individuals.

Present at the service was Pastor Andrew & Mrs Agnes Adu-Amankwaah (Rtd.), among others.

Mampong Area Inaugurates Chieftaincy Ministry Committee

The Mampong Area of The Church of Pentecost has inaugurated a nine-member committee to steer the affairs of the newly-introduced Chieftaincy Ministry in the Area.

The inaugural service, which was chaired by the Area Head, Pastor Samuel Kwabena Asare, took place on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at Mary Afia Amaniampong Temple (MAAT). The Secretary of the National Chieftaincy Ministry Committee, Elder Odeneho Dr Afram Brempong III (the Omanhene of Suma Traditional Area) graced the occasion with his wife and some sub-chiefs.

The Mampong Area Chieftaincy Ministry committee is chaired by Elder Barimah Osei Hwedie II (Ejurahene), with Nana Omono Asamoah Agyekumhene II as Vice Chairman and Elder Augustus Antiedu as Secretary.

Other members are Nana Oduro Kwakye Asare Bediako, Elder Naab Awuyellsum II, Nana Sarpomaa Adowa Denteh, Elder Emmanuel Oheneba Dwomoh, Pastor Stephen Obeng Asare (Area Ministry Coordinator), and Pastor Clement Kofi Asare (PEMEM Leader).

Reading from Revelation 21:9-24, Pastor Samuel Asare urged Christian chiefs, queens and royals to strive to make it to the city of heaven where a better kingship awaits them.

He noted that God is interested in the Chieftaincy institution and wants to use Nananom (chiefs) who have believed in and accepted Jesus to saturate the palaces with the gospel message of Christ. This, according to him, is the rationale for the introduction of the Chieftaincy Ministry in the Church.

He posited that the ministry would serve as a tool to reach out to other chiefs, queens and royals with the Gospel and also transform the Chieftaincy institution with godly values and principles in line with the “possessing the nations” agenda.

He entreated the committee to help extend the Area’s Bible reading project, dubbed “Thus says the Lord,” to the various palaces in the Area.

“The Bible will help Nananom know the mind of God and help them reign and rule according to God’s word,” he said.

Pastor Asare inaugurated the Area Chieftaincy Ministry Committee on behalf of the Chairman and the National Chieftaincy Ministry Committee and led the congregation to pray for God’s blessings upon them.

In his remarks, Elder Odeneho Dr Afram Brempong III said that a Chief can only experience peace when he has the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ, in his life and reign.

“If chiefs become Christians, they will rule with Christian principles, thereby bringing peace to their land,” he added.

He, therefore, encouraged his colleague chiefs to submit to the Lordship of Christ, stressing that “you can be a chief and still lead a righteous life because the king of righteousness, Jesus Christ, dwells within you.”

Elder Brempong charged the Committee members and other royals to work hard to influence their spheres with Kingdom values and principles.

In his response, the Committee Chairman, Elder Barimah Osei Hwedie II, thanked the Chairman of the Church for introducing the Chieftaincy Ministry and the Area Head for the confidence reposed in them by appointing them into this high office. He pledged to work hard as a team to make the ministry impactful.

The colourful event had in attendance chiefs, queen mothers, royals, area pastorate and their wives, and some members in the Mampong area.

“Campus Dating” In Senior High Schools

The rise in boy and girl relationships or what is commonly called “Campus Dating” among the youth has become rampant in Senior High schools (particularly boarding schools), and this should be a cause for concern for parents, the church and the nation.

Campus dating is a term that was coined for young males and females engaged in an amorous relationship on campus. The advent of social media has even made this act popular on our various campuses. It has become so popular to the extent that those who do not indulge in it are considered miscreants, particularly the new entrants (freshers). In fact, it is practically a sin to live on campus and not have a “beloved.” Those who are able to stand their ground are tagged with various names such as fools, impotent, and good for nothing. (I know this for a fact because I was a victim)

During my school days in Nsein SHS from the year 2016 to 2019, I observed that most of the students were involved in campus dating, which, they popularly called “Atetare” (Translated “hiding” in English).

What caused the proliferation of campus dating at the time (and even now) was the promises both parties received from each other that they would marry after school and happily live out their dreams.

It was always an uphill task talking any sense into the heads of those caught in this unfortunate love web. Nothing worked! It was even worse when some said their parents are aware of their amorous relationship and have even asked the young man to take care of their daughter for them in school (This is true). Can you imagine!

As “campus couples,” they engage in certain acts that God has reserved for married couples, such as: fondling, kissing and even sexual intercourse. They do this throughout their stay on campus. Often these campus dating leads to poor academic performance, emotional frustrations (broken-heart), unnecessary expenses, apathy towards the things of God, and some even end up dropping out of school due to pregnancy.

LIFE AFTER SCHOOL: THE SAD REALITY

A month or two after completion, these campus couples flaunt pictures of their partners on their various social media handles as though to say their bond remains ever strong. Fast forward (two years later), you see wedding pictures of them engaged/married to someone else, not their “campus lovers!”

CONCLUSION

Dear Senior High School student, the Lord created us for a purpose and our education ties into this purpose. Your purpose for being in school is not to look for a life partner but to study and acquire knowledge. So do well to abstain from the seductive web of “Campus Dating.”

The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 6:19: “Keep away from the desires of the flesh. Every sin which a man does is outside of the body; but he who goes after the desires of the flesh does evil to his body.”

Therefore, stay away from unhealthy relationships and, rather, build your relationship with God, and He will lead you to the one He has specially made for you in the appointed. Shalom.

The event, held on Monday, May 2, 2022, at the Asesewa Central Assembly church auditorium, was under the theme: “In the Last Days, I Will Pour Out My Spirit Upon All People.”

Reading from Joel 2:28, the Area Children’s Ministry Leader, Pastor George Owusu, mentioned that, Prophet Joel’s prophecy was fulfilled on the Day of Pentecost; ten days after the ascension of Jesus Christ.

“As Pentecostals, the teachings on the ministry of the Holy Spirit must be impacted unto our children,” he said.

Abodom District Holds Fasting & Prayer Convention For Children’s Ministry

The Abodom District in the Ashanti Bekwai Area of The Church of Pentecost has organised a Fasting and Prayer Convention for the district’s Children’s Ministry.

The event, which took place on Saturday, May 14, 2022, was initiated by the District Minister, Overseer Noble Dzakah, in partnership with the ministry, to equip the children and children’s workers for maximum impact.

The event was attended by the District Children’s Ministry Leader, Executive Committee Members of the ministry, teachers and some children in the district. The Abodom District Secretary, Elder Alexander Owusu, also participated in the spiritual empowerment programme.

Speaking on the theme “Equipping the Child as an Army to Possess the Nations” based on Matthew 18:1-4, Overseer Dzakah said that it is only those who have a repentant heart like that of a child that could become the greatest in the Kingdom.

Expounding further, the district minister noted that one of the key traits of children that adult Christians must emulate is their forgiving nature.

“Children forgive easily, so to become greatest in the Kingdom, one must have the heart of forgiveness,” he said.

He further stated that: “as we possess the nations, people, including Christians, may offend us. However, Jesus is saying that to become the greatest in His kingdom we must forgive them.”

Overseer Dzakah also advised Christians to repent and desist from all kinds of evil, such as anger, lies, gossip etc., in order to be considered great in the Kingdom.

After the sermon, the district minister led the congregation of about 642 children through a time of fervent prayer during which 45 of the participants were baptised in the Holy Spirit.

To the glory of God, 64 non-members of the church surrendered their lives to Christ at the event.

A Transformed Agent Transforming The World – The Case of The Honest Taxi Driver

The Church is an EQUIPPING CENTRE where members are transformed to transform the society. That is exactly what our celebrated Taxi Driver, Kwesi Ackon, and his wife, Francisca, have just exhibited.

There is a vast difference between what the world holds dear to that of the church. The world teaches us to focus on money and to do anything to get it irrespective of how one gets it.

The Church, on the other hand, teaches godly principles and values to transform worldviews contrary to the word of God. The moment the Church shifts its focus to that of the world, the world would be plunged into deeper darkness and depravity will reign.

There is a subtle attempt by the world to influence the Church to focus on wealth creation instead of rescuing the perishing and caring for the dying. The Lord Jesus Christ has called us from the world, transformed and equipped us to go back into the world to be agents of transformation in the world. Glory hallelujah!

So, this honest gesture done by our dear brother and his wife, is a fulfillment of the mandate of the Church. When individuals in the Church understand their calling as agents of transformation, the kingdom of God is established here on earth.

What am I saying? When the Church fails her mandate of equipping, the devil will have a field day. Jesus said in John 8:12 (GNB), “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will have the light of life and will never walk in darkness.”

As Christians, therefore, we are the light of the world because our Lord and Saviour is the light of the world. Take out the Church and the world is doomed.

If this is our call, then why the call and pressure from the world to monetize every act of faithfulness and diligence by the individuals of the Church?

Many have sought to paint The Church of Pentecost as an ungrateful entity just because the Church is not dishing out monies to its agents of transformation.

The world sees a transformed person, gives him all the attention he/she needs and rewards them in monetary terms and the world expects the Church to do same? Is it that the role of the Church is belittled or undervalued? The Church in all this must be praised and honoured and not vilified as is being done today.

Let’s do a reverse of the Taxi Driver scenario and examine what would have happened?

Should it have been that Mr and Mrs Arkon were not Christians, the said 8,000 Ghana cedis plus would have been lost. The owner, who visibly is an older adult with family dependants could have gone through hell trying to fend for herself and the family. Supposing the said money was her business capital, the loss of the money meant a collapse of her fish mongering business. What of the health implications on the poor old woman, a possible elevation of blood pressure with its associated illnesses? If she is a Christian, then her faith in God could have crashed if not well grounded.

Thank God for such agents of transformation who are transforming their respective spheres of lives. If you are blessed to be one, keep on keeping on for God is a rewarder of the faithful.

Elmina District Women’s Ministry Donates To Ankaful Mental Hospital

The Women’s Ministry of The Church of Pentecost in Elmina District has donated some assorted items to the Ankaful Mental/Psychiatric Hospital, near Elmina in the Central Region.

The items donated included water (bagged and bottled), liquid soaps, washing powder, tissues, toilet rolls, bottled drinks, biscuits, antiseptics for cleaning, among others.

The Women’s Ministry delegation was led by the District Minister, Pastor Chris Ameyaw, accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Awurakua Ameyaw, the District Women’s Ministry Leader, Deaconess Regina Christopher, her Assistant, Deaconess Dorcas Lomotey, the Secretary, Deaconess Catherine Buadu, and the Treasurer, Deaconess Veronica Naana Sampa, among others.

Presenting the items to the hospital, Pastor Chris Ameyaw stated that the donation was based on the love mandate Christ admonished believers to express in Romans 5:8, saying, “Irrespective of the status of a person, we need to fully demonstrate love through giving.”

He added: “When we were yet sinners, deserving punishment, Christ gave up His precious life for us by dying a vicarious death on the cross.  Since Jesus Christ gave unconditionally, all who are Christ-centered must also give to their neighbours, including patients at the hospital.”

He commended the hospital management and staff for their selfless service to patients.

The Deputy Director of Nursing Services (DDNS) of the hospital, Mr. Bismark Tuffour, and other management members of the hospital received the items.

They expressed their profound appreciation to The Church of Pentecost in Elmina and the Women’s Ministry for choosing the Ankaful hospital.

The DDNS described the donation as apt and timely since the facility was in dire need of them.

He added that the facility since its inception in 1965 had treated and discharged many clients (patients) with diverse mental and psychiatric challenges. He assured the church and the Women’s Ministry leadership that the facility is well equipped to heal any form of mental ailment.

Mr. Bismark Tuffour stated that effort has been put in place to ensure that clients are well taken care of. While applauding the church for the gesture, which he said will go a long way to complement government’s effort, he called on others institutions to emulate the gesture.
