5th Greater Accra Ministers’ Wives Prayer Meeting Held

About 229 ministers’ wives of The Church of Pentecost in the Greater Accra Region, today [Thursday, October 20, 2022], participated in the fifth edition of the Greater Accra Ministers’ Wives Prayer Meeting.

The prayer meeting which was held at the Dr. Thomas Wyatt Memorial Temple, in Accra Newtown, was attended by both active and retired ministers’ wives of the church. The purpose was to fellowship, share knowledge and be equipped to excel in ministry.

The event was graced by the wife of the Chairman of the church, Mrs Mary Nyamekye, and the wife of the International Missions Director (IMD), Mrs Deborah Agyemang Bekoe.

In a presentation on the topic, “How to Set Up A Table,” Mrs Esther Eyison, a caterer specialised in Food & Nutrition, Sugar & Craft, Pastries and Floral, entreated ministers’ wives to endeavour to make their guests feel comfortable whenever they visit the mission houses through proper table settings.

“Don’t be disturbed when your guest does not patronize or eat particular food items provided. Everyone has their choices in their various homes. Therefore, they must feel at home,” she explained.

She encouraged the participants to invest in modern table accessories that would contribute to enhancing table etiquette in their homes.

Also, speaking on the topic, “General Wellness of Women Above 35 Years,” a Specialist Obstetrician Gynecologist and Fertility Specialist, Elder Dr. Derek Amoateng, disclosed that generally, it has been observed that women from age 35 years,  experience diverse changes health-wise.

“Being proactive about your health is critical during these years as there is increased risk of heart diseases, diabetes, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, obesity and breast cancer,” he revealed.

Elder Dr. Amoateng admonished them to have regular medical checkups for vaccinations and screening, especially breast and cervical cancer screening.

He added: “We need to take control of our health. You must focus on prevention as it helps maintain your health in the years to come and to identify any problems early.”

He, therefore, iterated that for women to stay healthy they must eat a healthy and balanced diet, maintain a healthy weight by aiming to exercise at least 30 minutes a day, try to sleep at least 7-8 hours a night, prepare for menopause, challenge the brain to learn new things every day, and join support groups to build relationships.

Elder Dr. Amoateng, however, cautioned against smoking and alcohol, using illegal drugs or misusing prescription drugs, driving and texting, entertaining micro stresses, and taking supplements without the direction of health professionals.

The next session of the regional prayer meeting is scheduled to take place in December.

Tema Area Head Visits Fire Victims In New Ningo

The Tema Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Emmanuel Ofei Ankra-Badu, has visited a family in Great Ningo District whose house was recently razed down by fire, and lost all their property.

According to the Area Head, who was accompanied by the Area Secretary, Pastor Alex Nana Kwame Oppong, the visit was to commiserate with the affected family, pray with them, and have first-hand information about the unfortunate incident.

Narrating the unfortunate incident, Deaconess Doris Narh, who is the District Women’s Leader of Great Ningo District, said she left home for Old Ningo to attend to some family business. She received calls at about 1:00 pm that there was a fire outbreak in her home, so she rushed home. Upon reaching the scene, she found a big crowd had gathered around the house, all making frantic efforts to help control the raging fire.

By the grace of God, personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service managed to bring the fire under control, but almost everything in the house got burnt.

Deaconess Doris Narh was very appreciative to God that no life was lost in the inferno although all their possessions in the house got burned. Surprisingly, she said, none of the 12-member occupants, comprising her husband and children, was at home when the incident took place.

Apostle Ankra-Badu thanked God for their lives and encouraged the family to keep on serving God faithfully just as Job did.

The Area Head, on behalf of the Tema Area, presented a bag full of clothing and an unspecified amount of money to the family.

Pastor Alex Nana Kwame Oppong who happened to be a former District  Pastor of Great Ningo, led the team to pray intensively for the family that the Lord shall restore their fortunes.

Eternal Life Can Only Be Found In Christ – Pastor Awuah Fordjour

The Agape District Minister of The Church of Pentecost, Pastor Frank Awuah Fordjour, has emphasised that eternal life can only be found in Christ and that only those who have accepted Him as Lord and personal Saviour can access it.

Pastor Fordjour said this when he preached on the Day 2 of the ongoing “Sefwi Nkwanta for Christ” crusade yesterday.

In his sermon, the Agape District Minister, who doubles as the Outreach Coordinator for the Evangelism Ministry, explained that the word “life” is translated in Greek as Bios, Psuche, and Zoe.

“Bios is simply physical life, Psuche means the soul-life, and Zoe is the God-kind of life, which is eternal,” he explained.

Using John 10, John 5:12, John 1:1 and 2, he stated that not only can eternal life be found in Jesus, but also, He alone has the power to save.

“Sin has no medication, but Jesus is the only one who possesses the antidote,” he said.

He further noted that, addition to eternal life and remedy for sin, there are countless benefits and blessings in Jesus such as good health, prosperity, deliverance from impure spirits, among others.

Pastor Awuah Fordjour, however, cautioned that anyone who does not accept Christ automatically becomes a candidate for hell, a place of torment reserved for all workers of iniquity.

“Your will has been given to you, so you must make your own choice. But whatever you decide, remember that you will account for this one day,” he advised.

The “Sefwi Nkwanta for Christ” crusade is under the theme: “In Him Is Life” (John 1:4). The event is being jointly organised by the Evangelism Ministry Directorate and the Nkwanta District of The Church of Pentecost at the Tanoso Community Park.

Darkness Can Never Withstand Light – Elder Albert Narh

Elder Albert Narh, a co-opted member of the Evangelism Ministry National Executive Committee of The Church of Pentecost, has stressed that no agent of darkness (the devil) can withstand the light in Jesus.

“Anyone who comes to Christ runs away from the oppression of this dark world to the saving power of God Almighty,’ he said when he preached on the topic: “In Him Is Life” during the morning session of Day 2 of the ongoing “Sefwi Nkwanta for Christ” crusade at the Nkwanta Central Assembly church auditorium.

Reading from John 1:4-5, Elder Narh said that Jesus Christ is the free life-giver and that salvation is found in no other human being or entity except in Him.

He explained that the Spirit of Jesus lives in anyone who accepts Him as their Lord and personal Saviour; hence, every believer carries the life and authority of Christ in them.

He, therefore, urged believers to be bold and not to allow themselves to be intimidated by evil spirits.

Elder Narh also noted that Jesus Christ is the only one who can permanently change a person’s destiny. He advised Christians to submit to the leading of the Holy Spirit, not neglect the gathering of the saints and always yearn to receive fresh strength from the Lord daily.

“We must endeavour to grow in our faith and to receive enlightenment through God’s word. This is because physical blindness may be an unpleasant or difficult condition, but spiritual blindness is far worse,” he warned.

He, therefore, urged Christians to develop a consistent prayer life and cultivate the habit of reading God’s word and heeding the instructions.

The “Sefwi Nkwanta for Christ” crusade, which is under the theme “In Him Is Life” (John 1:4), is a four-day event being jointly organised by the Evangelism Ministry of The Church of Pentecost and the Nkwanta District in the Sefwi Bekwai Area of the Church. 

The event, which is being held at the Tanoso Community Park, officially began on October 18, 2022.

Man Delivered From Strange Speech Disorder

Mr. Maxwell Nipa, 22, has been instantly healed of a strange speech disorder.

Maxwell, a member of the Nkwanta Central Assembly of The Church of Pentecost, shared his testimony with congregants who took part in yesterday’s morning session of the ongoing “Sefwi for Christ” crusade.

Narrating his ordeal to PENTECOST NEWS, Maxwell said that two years ago, he experienced a strange pain in his throat which affected his speech. He said that the strange disease had since persisted despite several efforts to have his speech restored. 

According to Maxwell, he was admitted to the hospital for treatment but was later discharged because he could not afford the prescriptions.

He said that the situation became severe last Friday, as a result, he could not attend the opening session of the crusade yesterday.

“I made up my mind that by hook or crook, I would participate in this morning’s session of the crusade. So, I am very grateful to God for this miraculous touch,” he said.

The “Sefwi Nkwanta for Christ” is being jointly held by the Evangelism Ministry of The Church of Pentecost and the Nkwanta District in the Sefwi-Bekwai Area.

The four-day crusade, which is under the theme “In Him Is Life” (John 1:4), commenced on October 18, 2022 at the Tanoso Community Park.

Lady With Hearing Loss Receives Instant Healing

Twenty-year-old Afia Ahuma was instantly healed of a hearing loss problem she had been experiencing for the past five years.

The spectacular incident occurred today during a healing and deliverance session on Day 2 of the “Sefwi Nkwanta for Christ” crusade.

An excited Ahuma, with her baby strapped at her back, could not hide her joy as she hugged Elder Albert Narh, a member of the Evangelism Ministry team, who had prayed for her during the session.

Speaking to PENTECOST NEWS at end of the service, Ahuma, a member of the Ankra-Muano Assembly in the Nkwanta District of The Church of Pentecost, said that she grew up without the problem but began to experience hearing loss when she turned 15 years old.

Her aunt, Mrs. Gladys Aboagye, who corroborated her story, told PENTECOST NEWS that it was difficult to communicate with her niece since she could not hear nor speak clearly.

She, therefore, expressed gratitude to God for this miracle, saying: “Now she can hear my voice when I speak; I have also observed that her speech has improved significantly.”

22 Reviewed Members Of Boards & Committees Honoured

As per the white paper of The Church of Pentecost during the 17thExtraordinary Council Meetings in May this year, 22 members of boards and committees in the church were reviewed after serving meritoriously over a period of years.

A short appreciation ceremony was held yesterday [Tuesday, October 18, 2022] at the Church’s General Headquarters, at La, in Accra to honour and appreciate their long service in the church.

In a brief address, the Chairman of the church, Apostle Eric Nyamekye on behalf of the Executive Council expressed his profound appreciation to the past members of the various boards and committees and acknowledged their tremendous efforts and contributions made in the success of the church.

 “Life is full of changing scenes and so far as the earth is concerned, generations will come for generational leaders to be changed. It is all in the interest of the work,” Apostle Nyamekye said.

According to the Chairman, after much prayer and deliberations are done, a section of leaders is considered to fill in various places in the church where they support the overall vision of the leadership.

However, he noted that since those chosen are lay ministers and a few ministers, much burden is laid on them. Therefore, reviews become necessary to allow others continue or end, granting the opportunity for others to help too.

Reading from 1 Chronicles 9:9-10, Apostle Nyamekye revealed that King David did not succeed in his reign over Israel not only because God was with him but the chiefs of his mighty warriors together with the whole of Israel gave his kingship strong support to extent it over the whole land as the Lord promised.

“We want to say that The Church of Pentecost is so much spread across the whole world today. We are being talked about positively because behind the leaders, you gave us strong support,” he said, stating, “A lot of people think we just pray but they do not know the number of meetings and the support systems that we have at each stage of administration.”

Apostle Nyamekye then indicated that members who hold positions in the church or serve in various capacities are not reviewed and changed because they do not perform well, but rather to allow others to come on board to help.

The General Secretary, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi on behalf of the Chairman presented them with plaques and tokens to appreciate their servitude to the church.

Among those reviewed were the Pentecost Hospital Board (Apostle Lawrence Otu-Nyarko who served for 2 years); Music Committee (Elder Dr Emmanuel Kwasi Mireku who served 26 years and Mrs. Margaret Darko Ankomah who served for 8 years); Pentecost Convention Centre (Prophet James Osei Amoaniampong Rtd. who served for 9 years, Pastor Ben Akuetteh Noye who served for 2 years, Elder Joseph Kofi Amankwah, who served for 3 years, and Deaconess Angela Peasah, who served for 9 years); National Discipleship & Leadership Development Committee (Apostle Vincent Anane Denteh, who served for 4 years, and Apostle William Boakye Agyarko, who served for 4 years).

Others are Pension Board (Apostle David Tettey Tekper, who served for 8 years and Elder Samuel Antwi, who served for 8 years); Ministerial Committee (Prophet James Osei Amaniampong Rtd., who served for 5 years and Prophet Ebenezer Kofi Appiah, who served for 5 years); and Finance Board (Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, who served for 8 years and Elder Elisha Asiedu Amponsah, who served for 18 years).

The rest, are PENSA International Coordinating Committee (Pastor Franklin Kumi Lartey, who served for 3 years, Pastor Daniel Nana Sei Mensah, who served for 3 years, Elder Stepheny Finjap Wanji, who served for 3 years, Dr Olugbenga Samson Onile, who served for 3 years, Elder Dr. Kloutse Kodjo Biava, who served for 3 years, and Elder Dr. Emmanuel Duah, who served for 3 years.), and Youth Ministry-NEC (Pastor Godwin Ako-Addo, who served for 4 years and Pastor Ebenezer Agyapong, who served for 2 years).

Giving a response on behalf of the awardees, Apostle David Tettey Tekper, the Achimota Area Head stated that, “We are grateful that it pleased the Lord to lay His hands on us to serve in various capacities in building the Kingdom. All that we did was to the service of the Lord and we are grateful to the Executive Council.”

The Executive Council Member lauded the leadership of the church led by the Chairman for their thoughtfulness in acknowledging their support to the structures, and assured of their readiness to respond to the call of service anytime.

Present was the International Missions Director (IMD), Apostle Emmanuel Agyemang Bekoe, and some Heads of Department at the General Headquarters.

“Sefwi Nkwanta For Christ” Crusade Kickstarts Despite Heavy Downpour

Despite a heavy downpour that threatened to mar the start of the “Sefwi Nkwanta for Christ” crusade yesterday, hundreds of people thronged to the Tanoso Community Park for the official opening of the much-anticipated event.

People from all walks of life, including members of the Nkwanta District, turned up in their numbers for the crusade.

Pastor Kwabena Antwi, a retired minister of The Church of Pentecost, gave a chilling testimony of the power of the Gospel to save and transform lives for the better.

In his testimony, interspersed with humour, the retired minister explained how the Lord transformed him from a drug addict and idol worshipper into a minister of the Gospel. 

“If the Lord was able to transform my hopeless situation, then He can surely do the same for you,” he charged poignantly through the huge Line Array speakers erected at the crusade grounds.

Referring to the story of Zacchaeus and Jesus Christ in Luke19:1-10, the Evangelism Director of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Dr. Amos Jimmy Markin, said that although Zacchaeus was a sinner, he still desired to meet Jesus Christ.

He said that Zacchaeus’ effort was rewarded with a divine (august) visitation of Jesus to his house, as a result, his life was transformed for the better.

Apostle Jimmy Markin, therefore, urged everyone who is yet to encounter Christ to invite Him into their lives by accepting Him as their Lord and personal Saviour.

Twenty-nine persons responded to the altar call by the Evangelism Director and were led to confess the sinner’s prayer. Out of the souls won, 12 underwent water baptism.

The “Sefwi Nkwanta for Christ” crusade would be climaxed on Saturday, October 22, 2022, with a medical outreach at the Nkwanta Assembly church premises. The four-day crusade is under the theme “In Him Is Life” (John 1:4).

Pastor & Mrs. Turkson Donate To BECE Candidates

The Nkwanta District Minister of The Church of Pentecost, Pastor Emmanuel Turkson, and his wife, Linda, have donated mathematical sets to final-year students of the Nkwanta cluster of schools who are sitting for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

The couple donated 24 mathematical sets and pens to Tanoso Junior High School, whilst Afamu Junior High School were presented with 30 maths sets and pens. The Pataboso Junior High School also received 30 maths sets and 40 pens.

In all, the couple donated 84 maths sets and 94 pens to the students.

Pastor Turkson presented the items to the students on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at their respective schools. He also prayed with the BECE candidates and wished them well in their examinations.

The Nkwanta District Minister was accompanied by Pastor Frank Adjei and Elder Albert Narh, representatives of the Evangelism Ministry of The Church of Pentecost who are being hosted by the Nkwanta District ahead of the much-anticipated “Sefwi-Nkwanta for Christ” crusade, were also present at the short presentation.

The four-day crusade, which is under the theme “In Him Is Life” (John 1:4), is set to kickstart this evening (October 18, 2022) at the Tanoso community park.

Leaders Are God’s Strategic Partners To Possess The Nations – Apostle Agyen Brefo Tells Christian Leaders

The Aflao Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Michael Agyen Brefo has stated that Christian leaders are God’s strategic partners in possessing the nations since everything stands on them.

Apostle Agyen Brefo made this remark on Friday, September 30, 2022 at the Shekinah Temple, Aflao, during his maiden engagement with officers within the Area.

Speaking on the topic, “Leaders are God’s Strategic Partners,” with Mark 6:7 and Luke 10:1-9 as scriptural references, Apostle Agyen Brefo hinted that the success of the Area depended much on the effectiveness of leadership.

Reading Genesis 12:1-3, he revealed that God’s purpose of calling Abraham was that through Abraham, all nations will be positively imparted and blessed, stating, “God’s idea to make Abraham into a great nation leads to His desire to use leaders to impact every sphere of our societies.”

The Aflao Area Head added: “Even though the descendants of Abraham spent 430 years in Egypt, God had still not abandoned his agenda of making Israel a great nation through which He will bless the world.”

He further explained that when the Israelites cried to God due to their slavery in Egypt, God called out Moses as their deliverer (Exodus 3:1-15). However, he said that it was during that encounter that God revealed his redemptive plans to Moses, yet he needed partners in executing the tasks given.  

 “Officers are in partnership with God, with the church, with the chairman of the church and with the Area Head; our vision is to overcome the kingdom of darkness. We must support the vision,” he iterated.

Apostle Agyen Brefo, then recapitulated that Aflao shall do exploits when all officers in the church are involved in the work of the ministry, urging them to do everything expected of them as leaders.

“The reason why we take our time to choose leaders is because we want to take the best. So as officers here, you are the best,” he explained.

He, also admonished them to work hard since there are still unfinished businesses to be done in the kingdom of God.

According to him, just as Apostle Paul left Titus in Crete to finish every unfinished task there, and appoint leaders, they (officers) have been called to partner the ministers of God to possess the nations.

“God’s method has always been man and it is not surprising that Jesus became man in order to redeem us,” he stressed.

He therefore advised the leaders to continue to fear God, be trustworthy in the discharge of their duty, and hate dishonest gains since God will reward those who serve him diligently.
