Support Each Other To Succeed In Ministry – Apostle Quaye Advises Clergy

Apostle Emmanuel A. Quaye, the Spain National Head of The Church of Pentecost, has advised ministers of the Gospel to support one another in effectively discharging their duties.

Delivering a sermon on Tuesday morning at the Heads’ consultative session preceding the 46th General Council Meetings currently underway at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh on the theme: “Who is Holding your Hands & Whose Hand are you Holding,” Apostle Quaye quoted scriptures from 2 Chronicles 26:5-15, Luke 5 and Psalm 44:3 to support his message.

He stated that the act of supporting each other, which he refers to as “holding hands,” brings victory and generational continuity since it paves the way for people to be trained and help others to succeed in their work.

He used the story of Moses in the Bible, who overcame the Amalekites when the Israelites kept his hand up to emphasise his point.

“Moses did not achieve this alone as he had the support of Aaron and Hur, who held his hand steady when he was growing tired,” he stated.

Apostle Quaye urged ministers to emulate Aaron and Moses by supporting each other to excel in ministry.

According to him, one way by which ministers can work together is by delegating responsibilities to their subordinates.

“To be successful, you need to train people to work for you even in your absence,” he advised.

He, however, stressed that God should always be the first point of call in times of challenges.

Be Content With What You Have – Apostle Gyesi-Addo Tells Church Leaders

Apostle Emmanuel Gyesi-Addo, the Haatso Area Head and immediate-past International Missions Director of The Church of Pentecost, charged Church leaders and members to be content with what they have and not to obsess over things they do not have.

Apostle Gyesi-Addo said this yesterday during the Heads’ Session preceding the 46th General Council Meetings, ongoing at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh, near Kasoa.

Delivering a sermon on “Atmosphere of Contentment For Maximum Impact,” Apostle Gyesi-Addo emphasised that contentment is finding joy in what God has given to an individual, being satisfied with what one has, who one is, what one does not have, and having rest in one’s soul.

He stressed that contentment gives believers the Spirit of God, enabling them to make a maximum impact to possess the nations and work diligently.

Apostle Gyesi-Addo further listed some sources of happiness such as the knowledge of Christ, understanding one’s self-worth, and renewing the mind.

The Haatso Area Head also mentioned that complacency can lead to a lack of contentment, hindering growth and expansion.

According to him, contentment is a virtue that grows over time and can be learned from the Word of God and through personal experiences.

He urged members of the church to be content because it facilitates godly life on earth as we prepare for heaven, promotes good health, peace of mind, joyful heart, and long life, and helps in overcoming covetousness.

He also advised Christians to practice gratitude, learn to live one day at a time, and raise issues with the right people rather than being resentful.

Strive For Maturity – Apostle Nyamekye Tells Ministers

“We need to strive for maturity to avoid repeating the ancient things that worried the early fathers and leaders of the Church,” Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, has stated.

Speaking at the Heads’ Session of the 46th General Council Meetings of The Church of Pentecost, on Monday, May 1, 2023, at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh, on the topic: “Striving For Maturity,” (Isaiah 63:9-14), Apostle Nyamekye said that God identified with His people’s suffering, redeemed them, and lifted them from all their miseries.

He stated: “God gave His people rest after He brought them from the Promised Land, and He led them through the moments of difficulties.”

On the forthcoming elections and Executive Council decisions in the Church, the Chairman disclosed that the election of key leaders everywhere has always been characterised by tension, uncertainty, anxiety, and fear, saying, “Don’t vote because of elections, do so because the candidate is a Man of God.”

He explained that tensions are often propelled by the quest for power, the want of family relatives to get into positions, and friends inciting against people chosen when it does not favour them.

“These reasons raise tensions that sometimes lead to undesirable outcomes. Elections always breed tensions which, when not handled well, would not end well,” he cautioned.

In the church, he pointed out that elections are the choice of God for individuals as for a particular work or favour or salvation, stressing, “When it comes to elections, God chooses for Himself.”

Apostle Nyamekye, who is also the President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, assured the clergy that God is bigger than the Church, and He will never disappoint it. Therefore, they must rest in the Spirit of God.

Reflecting on Luke 9:46 and Luke 22:17, he noted that the disciples showed signs of maturity in their works, however, when it came to the election of a replacement for Judas, there was tension among them.

Apostle Nyamekye urged the church leaders to seek the power of the Holy Spirit to control the flesh in every decision they made, which according to him, is the cause of the manifestations and tensions during seasons like this.

“When people are righteous, they handle difficult moments beautifully,” he said, adding that the secret of a servant of God’s life is that he stays in tune with God all the time.

Concluding, the Chairman urged councillors to be led by the Spirit of God and not the flesh when making decisions on the election of leaders.

The 46th Session of the General Council Meetings will involve the election of the Chairman, General Secretary, and four Executive Council Members and reviews, transfers, and appointments into various roles in The Church of Pentecost.

The Church Of Pentecost Donates LCD Projector To Dormabin JHS

The Dormabin District of The Church of Pentecost, through its Schools Outreach Ministry (SOM), has donated an LCD projector worth GH¢1,800.00 to the Dormabin Junior High School.

The device was presented to the school authorities during a short ceremony held at the school premises.

According to the District Minister, Pastor Henry Haywood, the Church is determined to play its part in solving the numerous challenges facing various educational institutions within its jurisdiction.

He was confident that the engagements with the educational institutions would also provide the Church with an opportunity to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with staff and students and lead them to the saving knowledge of Christ.

Explaining the rationale for the donation, Pastor Haywood shared that after visiting the school a few months ago, he noticed that a large class had gathered for an ICT lesson with only one small laptop used by the teacher, which only benefited those in the front row.

The leadership of the Church, therefore, agreed to meet this need of the school by procuring a projector for them.

He exhorted the gathering from Jeremiah 29:7, which admonishes believers “to seek the peace and the prosperity of the land to which you dwell.”

The Domabin District Pastor also encouraged the students to take their studies seriously to reach higher heights.

The headmaster, teachers, and students expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Church for the kind gesture.

Present at the event were members of the Dormabin District Executive Committee, School Management Committee [SMC], Parents Teachers Association (PTA) Executive Committee members, and other opinion leaders.

Old Tafo Area Donates To Afram Plains Area

The Old Tafo Area of The Church of Pentecost has donated a brand new Haojin motorbike and clothing to the Afram Plains Area as part of efforts in fulfilling the “Possessing the Nations” agenda of the Church.

Led by the Area Head, Apostle Daniel Yeboah Nsaful, and the Area Missions Committee, the items were presented to the Afram Plains Area Head, Apostle Victor Kwasi Asamoah, who was joined by his wife, Rebecca, at the Old Tafo Area Mission House on Monday, April 24, 2023.

According to Apostle Yeboah Nsaful, missions play a vital role in reaching out to the world with the Gospel message, therefore, it is very necessary to lend a helping hand to this cause and inspire ministers in those areas with the needed logistics.

He said that the progress in the mission fields is a positive sign that the Kingdom of God is advancing which means that many are turning towards Christ, and to do that, support is indispensable.

He was optimistic that the motorbike and the clothing will go a long way to influence growth in the Area and also encourage members to appreciate the love of God.

Receiving the items, the Afram Plains Area Head, Apostle Victor Kwasi Asamoah, thanked the Old Tafo Area and the Missions Committee for the gesture and further encouraged other Areas to follow suit.

He added that deprived areas like Afram Plains are in dire need of motorbikes and tricycles to facilitate the spread of the Gospel.

He also thanked the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, for his kind act during his visit to the Area and expressed how the act has greatly benefited them.

Present at the brief presentation ceremony were Pastor Emmanuel Otu-Gyan (Old Tafo Area Secretary), Pastor George Amesawu (Area Executive Member), Pastor Manasseh Mintah (Area Youth Leader), and a cross-section of officers from Afram Plains Area.

LEADERSHIP TRANSITION web

Leadership Transition: The God Of Pentecost Will Do It Again

The God of Pentecost is an awesome God. The God of Pentecost is omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent, and sovereign. The God of Pentecost is not different from the God described in the Bible. However, just as Yahweh chose to covenant with Israel and intended that the world would know Him through His walk with Israel, so He has done with The Church of Pentecost. Amongst the many churches that He accepts as His own, He has made The Church of Pentecost Israel among them. I say this not out of pride but humility, considering where He has brought the Church from. A people of no repute, mocked, teased, and not considered, He took us from the miry clay and set us on a hill like a light shining to show the way to many. What grace He has bestowed on us for the race! A people of no pace have become the pacesetters. All glory to the Most High God!

Indeed, like the people of Israel in the Bible, He has made a covenant with The Church of Pentecost. The covenant, through prophecy, came in 1931. It was confirmed during an Easter Convention at Winneba in 1940 and was reaffirmed at the 1948 General Convention at Koforidua. His dealing with The Church of Pentecost is so strange and unique. He has remained faithful to His covenant. Spiritually, He has blessed us with men and women who are real and rare gifts. Numerically and geographically, we are becoming like the sand by the seashore. Financially, as the covenant said, “God will meet the Church’s financial needs in season and out of season for all other churches to acknowledge that His divine presence, blessings, and glory are with the Church,” has come to pass. Since the days of old, The God of Pentecost has proven to be a faithful God. Even in the face of COVID-19, we made positive strides. When many were laying off, we were hiring. Halleluia!

The God of Pentecost takes a nobody and makes them somebody without consulting anybody. Who ever thought a 40-year-old young man could become the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost? Many waited for flaws and a flop, but God used the young Chairman Ntumy like He used David. There was astronomical growth. The God of Pentecost has been so good. He has blessed The Church of Pentecost with great leaders after His own heart. At any point in time, He brings us His prepared and chosen vessels. Sometimes there are doubts and skepticism, but the end has always proven the fact that our God is the Nyansabuakwa Nyame (repository of all knowledge). From Chairman James McKeown to Fred Stephen Safo, to Martinson Kwadwo Yeboah, to Michael Kwabena Ntumy to Opoku Onyinah, to Eric Nyamekye, we cannot complain. He has given us the best. From Secretary Joseph Paintsil to Daniel K. Arnan, to Rigwell Ato Addison, to Albert Amoah, to Alfred Koduah to Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, we cannot complain. He has given us the best. From IMD Opoku Onyinah to Benjamin K. Arthur, to Stephen K. Baidoo, to Emmanuel Gyesi-Addo to Emmanuel Agyemang Bekoe, we cannot complain. God has given us the best.

Replacing any of the Principal Officers is always a significant challenge. There is often intense speculation and pressure around who will take over. However, throughout the history of the Church, those who have assumed these roles have proven to be God’s choice. In recent years, changing any of the three Principal Officers has been particularly difficult given the significant impact of their predecessors. Yet, time and time again, the new leaders have laid out their vision and achieved remarkable things, demonstrating that our God is incomprehensible and infinite. I recall when our immediate-past General Secretary, Apostle Dr. Alfred Koduah, was to hand over to the current General Secretary, Apostle A.N.Y. Kumi-Larbi. Many were worried about the impact that Dr. Koduah’s departure would have. However, God has once again proven Himself faithful, using the indefatigable Apostle Kumi-Larbi to accomplish great things.

Similarly, when it was time for “The General,” Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah, to hand over to Apostle Eric Nyamekye, there were whispers of concern. But with the introduction of Vision 2023, it became clear that there was much more work to be done. Through the leadership of Apostle Nyamekye, the “Possessing the Nations” agenda is on course, and a remarkable job has been done so far. From a human perspective, one might pity the next Chairman who will take over. But as in the past, we are confident that God will raise up another giant to lead His Church when the time comes. I remember when the current IMD was appointed, many were taken aback and kept asking, ‘Who is he?’ ‘Can this young man match the standard set?’ they wondered. To everyone’s surprise, in less than three years into the job, God has been gracious and used him to break more grounds for the Church in previously uncharted territories. What an incredible feat!

As the Council Meetings draw closer and our beloved General Secretary prepares to hand over, it is a great burden on all those who have the Church at heart to seek God’s face for a worthy replacement after His own heart. It is also worth mentioning that there will be an election to replace four members of the Executive Council. Therefore, I encourage all of us to pray to The God of Pentecost to do it again for His Church and give us suitable successors.

To the Church populace, let us pray for the will of God to prevail in all deliberations. Let us get involved in the prayers and fasting leading up to the Council Meeting, so that the presence of God will be powerfully felt throughout the meetings. We are certain that the God of Pentecost will do it again! May the God of Pentecost continue to be with His Church and guide our leaders to make the right decisions as He leads them.

As I conclude, I want to humbly make the point that leadership change is not exclusive to The Church of Pentecost but all other churches and institutions. From Presiding Eldership to leadership in the corporate world, change is inevitable. One must always bear in mind that a time will come when they will be replaced. Those of us privileged to be in leadership positions in various areas of life must, therefore, strive to make our mark while in office, for one day we will have to leave the scene. After all, if Jesus could leave the earth and hand over to the Holy Spirit, then no one is irreplaceable.

Dansoman Area Holds “At The Feet Of The Fathers” Youth Retreat

The Dansoman Area Youth Ministry of The Church of Pentecost (CoP), on Monday, April 24, 2023, organised a one-day retreat for youth members in the Area at the Aburi Botanical Gardens in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

The event, dubbed “At the Feet of the Fathers,” was held under the auspices of the Area Head, Apostle Daniel Kodjoe Sey, and the Area Youth Ministry Leader, Pastor Ebenezer Amartey Ahuakese, who is also the Resident Minister for the Pentecost International Worship Centre, Dansoman (PIWC-Dansoman).

During the retreat, Apostle Sey spoke on the topic “Run the Race of Faith,” culled from 1 Corinthians 9:24-27, Titus 2:11-12 and Philippians 2:16. In his sermon, the Dansoman Area Head drew a comparison between the life of a Christian and that of an athlete, emphasising the importance of having a heavenly perspective and following the rules set by God.

He also stressed the need for discipline, self-control, and integrity to obtain the crown awaiting them in heaven.

Apostle Sey, therefore, advised Christians, particularly young people, to remove besetting sins, train themselves in reading, praying, and fasting, and focus on the mark to finish the race of faith with endurance.

He also encouraged the youth to connect with their source of help, the Lord Jesus, to overcome challenges.

The maiden edition of the retreat was a great success recording a total of 778 youth participants.

The event also featured an interview session during which the two resource persons, Apostle Sey and his wife, Mrs. Rebecca Adwoa Sey, shared some of their life experiences as well as highlights of their ministry and marital relationship with the youth.

Notable attendees at the event were Pastor Isaac Ennin Quaicoe (Sakaman District Minister) and his wife, Mrs. Abigail Ennin Quaicoe, as well as Mrs. Rebecca Ahuakese (Wife of the Area Youth Ministry Leader).

Elder Stephen Atimbire (Assistant Area Youth Ministry Leader), Elder Joshua Ahamazie (Area Youth Ministry Organiser), Elder Solomon Tackie (Area Youth Ministry Media Coordinator), and some ministry executive committee members at the Area and district levels also attended the event.
