PENTSOS Donates Hospital Beds To Sandford Clinic

The Pentecost Social Services (PENTSOS), the social services arm of The Church of Pentecost, through its Health Service Unit has donated two hospital beds to the Sandford Clinic at Kofi Kope, near Afienya to support the facility in serving the community.

The donation was in response to calls by the facility to the church to help boost facilities at the clinic to curb the situation where patients lie on benches and on bare floor for want of beds.

The Afienya District Minister of the church, Pastor Andrews Oduro Ampaw, who represented the Ashaiman Area, Prophet David Kankam Beditor, thanked PENTSOS for the prompt redemption and how beneficial the gesture is to the people.  

Mrs. Sabina Dadzie, the nurse in charge, and her team were highly elated for the timely support, which they said will go a long way to ensure quality care to the people in the catchment community. They expressed their keenness in ensuring that the people of Kofi Kope get the best of care.

Elder Alexander K. N. Frimpong, the Health Coordinator of PENTSOS and Ms. Belinda Otabil, the Administrative Manager for health, who represented the PENTSOS Director, Elder Richard Amaning, identified the gesture as part of the demonstration of the role that social services are playing in the realization of the possessing the nations agenda of the church.

PENTSOS Ends Skills Training In Yendi Area

The Pentecost Social Services (PENTSOS), the social services wing of The Church of Pentecost, in collaboration with the Yendi Area of the church, has organised a 3-day residential skills training for members of the church in the Yendi Area.

This highly commendable event, which took place from 22nd to 24th April 2021 at the Yendi Central church auditorium, saw over 100 participants attending from all 28 districts of the Area.

In an address to open the training programme, the Area Head, Pastor Emmanuel Kojo Aidoo, expressed his appreciation to the PENTSOS Directorate for organising the event to equip the members in the Area. He admonished the participants to take the training seriously to improve their economic lives. He assured them of the church’s support for them to establish their businesses.

The participants acquired skills in the making of various pastries such as spring rolls, doughnuts, Chin-Chin, meat pie, ice cream, and yoghurt production.

The facilitators for the programme were Mrs. Lydia Ghanney from the Pentecost Vocational Training Institute, Gbawe-Accra, supported by Ms. Maame Sika from the PENTSOS Directorate.

Participants were supported with some items such as flour, sieves, saucepans, bottles of oil, rolling pins to help them practice and also establish their pastry businesses.

Certificates were also awarded to the participants.

Sakumono PIWC Donates 50 Desks To Winneba PPS

The Sakumono Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC, Sakumono) in the Teshie-Nungua Area of The Church of Pentecost has donated 50 desks and chairs worth GH¢10,000.00 to the Pentecost Preparatory School (PPS), Winneba.

The desks and chairs were presented to the school by the Winneba Area Head, Apostle Samuel Otu Appiah, on behalf of the Resident Minister of Sakumono PIWC, Pastor Anthony Owusu Sekyere Kwarteng, on April 9, 2021.

Apostle Otu Appiah advised the school’s management to take good care of the desks and use them to enhance academic performance in the school.

The Headmistress, Mrs Abigail Anner, who received the desks and chairs, expressed her sincerest appreciation to Sakumono PIWC for the timely support. She assured the Area Head that the desks and chairs would be used for the intended purpose to improve academic performance in the school.

Present at the short ceremony were Pastor Daniel Obeng Mensah (PENSA Travelling Secretary for Winneba Sector and Chairman of the PPS Management Committee), Pastor Emmanuel Foster Asamoah (Abasraba District Minister), Pastor Isaac Sunkwah (Gyahadze District Minister and Area PENTSOS Coordinator), and staff and students of the school.

J.C. Quaye Assembly Donates To Methodist Rafiki Satellite Village

The J.C. Quaye Assembly in the Lowcost District in the Winneba Area of The Church of Pentecost has feted and donated assorted items and food to Methodist Rafiki Satellite Village at Gyahadze, near Winneba.

The visit, which took place on February 14, 2021, formed part of the efforts to possess the nations and to celebrate Valentine’s Day with the inmates of the orphanage. 

The District Minister, Pastor Kofi Boateng, assisted by Elder DSP Alexander Otu-Bekoe and the Local Presbyters, presented the items worth GH¢ 6,000.00 to the Home.

The items donated include bags of rice, cooking oil, toiletries, assorted drinks, biscuits, bags of water, and clothing.

In a short remark, Pastor Kofi Boateng said that “the tendency to forget the vulnerable and the needy on this day [Valentine’s Day] is high especially during this Covid-19 pandemic. But the love of Christ must compel all people especially believers to show love to orphans, widows, and the needy among us.”

The Director of the Methodist Rafiki Satellite Village, Rev. Dr. Isaac Nana Abekah, who received the items on behalf of the Home, was full of praise to The Church of Pentecost for the kind gesture.

CoP Kamina Barracks District Donates To Military Hospital

The Kamina Barracks District in the Tamale Area of The Church of Pentecost has donated two sets of air conditioners worth GH¢ 3,200.00 to the Outpatient Department (OPD) of the Kamina Barracks Military Hospital.

The donation which was made on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, was presented by the District Minister, Pastor Isaac Deku. He was accompanied by some officers and members of the church.

Captain Enos, receiving the items on behalf of the SMO of the Hospital, Major (Dr) Alhassan, thanked The Church of Pentecost for the kind gesture shown them. He expressed his joy of the donation which will go a long way to help the medical staff in the discharge of their duties both to patients.

Among the hospital staff present at the short ceremony were Major Asante Yeboah, Mrs. Angelina Ennuson (Matron of the hospital), and Mr. Albert Agbesi Nyewayor (Administrator of the hospital).

PENTSOS Constructs Borehole For PPS-Sawla

The Sawla Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle William Ohemeng-Kwakye, has commissioned a borehole constructed by the Pentecost Social Services (PENTSOS) Directorate for the Pentecost Preparatory School, Sawla (PPS-Sawla).

The borehole was constructed to provide safe drinking water for staff and pupils of the school as well as members of the Sawla community and its environs.

Speaking at the commissioning service held on Monday, February 22, 2021, Apostle William Ohemeng-Kwakye said that Jesus is the living water who quenches the thirst of anyone who drinks of Him. 

Referring to John 4:1-14, he further noted that although natural water gives life, it does not give eternal life, therefore, all must accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and personal saviour because He is the water that can sustain one’s life eternally.

The Sawla Area Head entreated the final-year students, who would be the first batch of the school to write the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), to be serious with their studies in order to pass the exams with flying colours, in that way others would be encouraged to enrol into the school.

He also entreated the school management to ensure proper maintenance of the facility.

Pastor Maxwell Nti, the Area Local School Manager, on behalf of management and the pupils, thanked the Executive Council and the PENTSOS Directorate for the borehole and pledged to ensure it is well maintained to serve its intended purpose.

Present at the event were the ministers and wives in the Sawla Zone.

Tarkwa Area Dedicates Baptistery For Ghana Prisons Service

The Tarkwa Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Dr. Daniel Okyere Walker, on Thursday, January 28, 2021, dedicated a baptistery worth more than GH¢ 10,000.00 at the Tarkwa Prisons.

The project, financed by the Tarkwa Area Deacon of the church, Elder John Arthur, and his wife Jane, also saw the painting of the entire prison’s facility.

In an interview with Pentecost News, the Tarkwa Area Prisons Committee Chairman, Pastor Charles Owusu Mpiani, indicated that the baptistery was a needed tool for promoting the church’s evangelistic activities in the prisons since it will provide a readily available place to baptise inmates who give their lives to Jesus Christ.

Apostle Dr. Walker assured the authorities of the church’s continued support towards the upkeep of the inmates and the Ghana Prisons Service.

The Officer-In-Charge (OIC) of the Tarkwa Prisons, Kwaku Ababio Ali, on behalf of the Ghana Prisons Service and the inmates, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the leadership of The Church of Pentecost and the financiers, Elder John and Mrs. Jane Arthur for the gesture.

As part of the commissioning ceremony, the Area also presented assorted items worth over GH¢ 2,000.00 to the Prisons.

The items included tissue papers, liquid soaps, toiletries, cartoons of bottled water, detergents, among several others.

The dedication of the baptistry and the donation were done at the sidelines of the 2021 Western Regional Ministers and Wives’ Conference which took place at the E. K. Kyei Memorial Temple, Tarkwa.

Present to assist Apostle Dr. Walker, who is an Executive Council Member and Chairman of the Western Regional Coordinating Committee, were the Area Heads from the Western and Western North regions.

They are Apostle Joseph Kwame Assabil (Takoradi Area Head), Apostle Daniel Kodjoe Sey (Sekondi Area Head), Apostle Emmanuel Kwasi Osei Ofosu (Sefwi Bekwai Area Head), Apostle Philip Osei Korsah (Axim Area Head), Apostle Robert Kwabena Andoh (Essam-Debiso Area) and their wives.

Suhum Area Assists 65 Students With Scholarships

The Suhum Area of The Church of Pentecost in 2020 provided educational scholarships to 65 tertiary students worth GH¢ 118,361.30.

The package which mostly involved the payment of academic fees, facility user fees, and SRC dues was spread among both fresh and continuing students.

In an interview, the Area Head, Apostle Anthony Eghan Kwesi Ekuban, accentuated the need to attach much attention to human resource development by ensuring that children are provided with quality education that would make them productive to society.

He further indicated that the church is committed to playing its role in nation-building and one of the strategies is to support brilliant but needy students to realize their aspirations of pursuing higher education. “Poverty should not be a barrier to acquiring the right education and skills development for sustainable livelihood,” he stressed.

Since the launch of the scholarship scheme in 2016, the Suhum Area of the church has assisted students and apprentices with financial support worth GH¢ 307,129.34 to attain academic laurels and vocational skills.

Old Tafo-Akim District Dedicates Ettokrom Bus Stop, Information Centre

As part of the effort to possess the nations by transforming every sphere of society with values and principles of the kingdom of God, the Old Tafo-Akim District of The Church of Pentecost in Koforidua-Effiduase Area has constructed a bus stop at Ettokrom at a cost of GH¢ 9,000.00.

The Area Head, Apostle Daniel Yeboah Nsaful, on Sunday, August 30, 2020, dedicated the facility and handed it over to the chiefs and people of the community.

In an interview with PENTECOST NEWS, the Old Tafo-Akim District Minister, Pastor Prince Odoom, indicated that the facility will relief commuters in the community since it will provide shelter for the travelling public.

The commissioning of the bus stop which coincided with the dedication of the Ettokrom Assembly Information Centre and the refurbished church auditorium was attended by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa North, Honourable Gifty Twum Ampofo, and the Abuakwa North Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Honourable Twum Ampofo.

Others were: Barima Eto Adomako III (Chief of Ettokrom), opinion leaders, representatives of churches in Ettokrom, Pastor Job and Mrs. Margaret Wiredu of Ati District, among others.

In a brief address, Apostle Nsaful stated that the construction of the facility is a realisation of the church’s agenda for transforming society by partnering government and state institutions to provide key interventions to facilitate the development of the nation.

According to him, the church’s five-year strategic vision of possessing the nations is geared towards equipping its teeming members to make an impact in society by living out and standing for the values and principles of the Kingdom of God in their daily activities.

The Abuakwa North MCE, Hon. Twum Ampofo, who received the facility on behalf of Ettokrom Community, commended the Church for the kind gesture.

The MP for Abuakwa North, Hon. Gifty Twum Ampofo, was full of gratitude to the Church for the gesture and admonished Ettokrom community to take good care of the facility to serve its intended purpose.

Winneba Area Donates PPE To Trauma And Specialist Hospital

The Winneba Area, through its social service wing, Pentecost Social Services (PENTSOS), on Tuesday, September 22, 2020, donated personal protective equipment (PPE) to the Trauma and Specialist Hospital, located at Winneba in the Central Region.

The items donated include 15 boxes of Deva sanitisers, 1,750 pieces of nose masks, 20 gallons of liquid soap and 120 pieces of Flora tissue papers.

They were presented to the management of the hospital on behalf of the Area by Pastor Augustine Dorman Kantiampong (Area Executive Member), Pastor Enock Amoah (Area Secretary), Pastor Isaac Sunkwah (Area PENTSOS Coordinator) and Elder John Biney (Area Deacon).

Presenting the items, Pastor Dorman Kantiampong said the gesture is in line with the church’s commitment towards the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. He said that the Area is also hopeful that the items would help to protect the health workers from the virus as they risk their lives to provide medical assistance to patients.

Receiving the items, the Medical Director of the hospital, Dr George Kwame Prah, commended the effort of The Church of Pentecost in the fight against COVID-19 and promised to use the items for the intended purpose.

Also present at the brief presentation ceremony were Mr Umar Nurudeen (Administrator), Mrs Mercy Andoh (Nurse Manager), Dr John M. Wireko (Clinical Coordinator) and Mr Samuel Ocran (Accountant).

After the presentation, Pastor Enock Amoah prayed for management, staff and patients of the hospital.
