Be An Authentic Christian – Chairman Advises

The President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) and the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has called on Christians to be authentic by leading lives that reflect the image of Christ.

He made this call at the opening of the GPCC 5-day Discipleship Training on Monday, January 29, 2024, at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa-Fetteh.

He said that the nation does not need more pastors or churches but genuine followers of Christ who can bring transformation to society.

“The greatest need we have in this nation is not many more pastors and churches but authentic Christians, a people like Christ. It is only Jesus Christ that transforms, but until we have people like him, there will be no transformation,” he said.

He urged the participants to rethink what Christianity means and to live it out as a way of life, not just a title or a profession.

He also encouraged them to translate their religiosity into spirituality, which can impact the nation positively.

“We need to rethink Christianity. Christianity is not about titles or pastors but a way of life. Translate your religiosity to spirituality, which brings transformation. If we translate our numbers into real spirituality, we will be a blessing to the nation,” he said.

He quoted various scriptures to emphasise the importance of holding on to the teachings of Jesus Christ and conforming to His image.

He said God’s ultimate purpose for every born-again Christian is to reveal Christ in and through them. He added that God has given them everything they need to transform into the image of His son.

Apostle Nyamekye further explained that the seed of Christ in them gives them the potential to become like Him and that they should nurture and grow that seed by avoiding sin and erasing any mistakes.

“When you sin, it means you have missed the mark. Sin, to us, is a mistake; it is not a weakness. The seed of Christ in you has power over sin. When you miss the mark (make a mistake), do not continue in it, erase it,” he said.

He also shared some practical ways to manifest the image of Christ in their lives and actions. He said that the image or seed of Christ should not just remain in their hearts but must be seen in their body, as seen in 2 Corinthians 4:10-11. “People should think they have come to Jesus when they are around you. If Christ is in you, let Him be manifested in your body”, he revealed.

He added that to be able to do the works of God, they just need to believe in Jesus.

The Chairman cited Ephesians 4:11-13 and Ephesians 3:14-19 to stress the importance of teaching and prayer as the two major agents of transformation. He said that the scriptures and prayer should work hand in hand to help them grow in Christ.

He quoted Luke 4:20-22 and Colossians 2:2-3 to illustrate how Christlikeness should be holistic and affect every part of their body.

He said that growing into the image of Christ must also include growing in wisdom and knowledge and that the wisdom needed to deal with the affairs of life is found in the seed of Christ planted in them.

“When you say you are a good Christian, it doesn’t mean walk sanctimoniously, but rather Christ must be manifested in your body. In your normal conversation, gracious words must come out of your mouth”, he added.

Apostle Eric Nyamekye said that to become more and more like Christ, they should be like Him in power and in deed, and have power over sin and evil forces. He said that being a disciple is to be all like Christ is.

“When you are like Christ, do not think you will not suffer in life, but in the midst of all that, be able to shine like stars in the sky”, he encouraged.

“Unless we surrender our crowns, Christlikeness will be difficult to achieve”, he concluded.

The Discipleship Training is for all pastors, ministry leaders and church leaders. It is being held under the theme: Launching Transformational Disciples Movement.

The event is being organised in collaboration with the Keystone Project in the USA, under the leadership of Richard Warren Greene (Founder/President, Keystone Project – USA).

The seminar began on Monday, January 29 and is expected to end on Saturday, February 3, 2024.

Always Have Eternity In Mind – Chairman

Apostle Eric Nyamekye, the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, has re-emphasised the need for Christians to think and behave as people with eternity and the future in mind.

Addressing the ministers and wives of The Church of Pentecost across the world at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC) near Gomoa Fetteh, on the characteristics of the church unleashed, the Chairman iterated that it is not enough to say the church is unleashed when what it means has not been digested well.

“Teach the members what it means to be in the fortress of the church and what it means to impact the world. Teach them to see their work as a calling. They are a royal priesthood called to minister at their workplace,” he advised.

Apostle Nyamekye called on believers to practice whatever they learn in church, saying, “Church is about practising what you have learnt. There is so much life and power in scripture that teaching it can change situations. God’s word must shape the conscience of every Christian and let everything be scrutinised by scripture.”

He opined that righteousness serves as the basis of every society and nation. Apostle Nyamekye thus said the Church has a great task to perform in this regard.

“As a church unleashed, let’s find out what unique ministries we can embark on in society. We must target groups in the community for ministry,” he said, adding, “It is not about our seating capacity but sending capacity. We must send our members to minister outside the church’s walls.”

Citing Daniel as a case study, Apostle Nyamekye declared that Daniel did not just stick to religiosity but transferred it into spirituality. He defined spirituality as ‘the manifestation of the Spirit of Christ in your life’.

He reiterated the call for Christians to see their secular works as sacred because God, who is interested in the church, is also interested in banking, academia, and politics.

“Your secular work is as important as the clergy. God has gifted us with different graces and abilities, so use your abilities to do ministry. The Holy Spirit is still in you when you go to your workplace. You can’t say this one is secular. Everything is an act of worship,” he disclosed.

Spicing his exposition with sketches (short movies) on real-life situations, Apostle Nyamekye drove home the point that politicians only think of the next election, but Christians must think about the future of the nation and life in eternity. He said this mindset and attitude will make the Church concerned about the development of the nations and holy living.

Apostle Nyamekye advanced that the church must get into the affairs of society; otherwise, its light will not be felt, saying, “What is the use of light if it cannot penetrate the darkness?”

He made a passionate call for daily congregational prayers for the nations where the church operates.

He cautioned against a lopsided approach to ministry where some churches focus on souls or social services.

“The church unleashed is involved in both soul-winning and social services because persons are not isolated individuals but embedded in society,” he instructed.

Apostle Eric Nyamekye asked Christians to work to revere God and avoid giving excuses.

He directed that every member of the church should be unleashed and assigned a ministry where they live and work.

“People progress when they are in frontline ministry. Get them unleashed to do ministry everywhere for their spiritual growth,” he concluded.

Watch These Things – Apostle Nyamekye Advocates The CoP’s Distinctiveness

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has reiterated the need for The Church of Pentecost to maintain her distinctive character as it launches out to transform all spheres of society in line with the Church’s Vision 2028.

Apostle Nyamekye, in a pastoralia at the 2024 Global Ministers and Wives’ Conference underway at the Pentecost Convention Centre near Gomoa Fetteh, touched on a few of the issues that needed attention. Below are some of the issues he raised:

  1. Make the Lord’s Supper service a solemn one. Praise/drumming time should be reserved until after attending the communion.
  2. Taking offerings should not be done by cajoling members by mentioning various amounts people should donate. Teach on sacrificial giving and then prayerfully raise funds.
  3. Let people with the ‘grace’ lead segments of the church service, such as the worship (adoration) time. It should not always or necessarily be the Osofomaame (minister’s wife).
  4. Study the Word and teach the people the deep secrets of God. Avoid storytelling in the pulpits.
  5. Manage church time creatively and with inspiration. Desist from prolonging church service beyond three hours.
  6. Make daily prayer and Bible study time a habit of every member. Teach on how to do it.
  7. Create a welcoming atmosphere at church for everyone. Be careful of a judgemental attitude.
  8. Desist from playing the keyboard (organ) or any other instrument during prayer and preaching/Word ministrations.
  9. Avoid using huge towels as handkerchiefs during Word ministration.
  10. Avoid interrupting prayer times with lengthy commentaries. Raise the prayer topic and allow the people to pray.

Open Up Your Spirits To Fully Imbibe Vision 2028 – Chairman Tells Ministers

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has challenged ministers of the Church to seek a deeper understanding of the underlying purpose for the church’s five-year strategic vision (Vision 2028) in order to own it and ensure its successful implementation.

He explained that a complete understanding and appreciation of the vision will help them (ministers) to fully support, own and find the best ways to communicate to the officers and members of the church in the quest to unleash them in possessing the nations.

Apostle Nyamekye gave the charge at the opening of the 3rd Global Ministers and Wives’ Conference (GMWC’24), which is currently underway at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC) at Gomoa Fetteh near Kasoa.

The five-day conference, which will also have virtual participation of ministers of the church from 150 nations across the globe, will discuss Vision 2028. It is under the theme “Possessing the Nations (Phase II): Unleashing the whole church to transform their world with kingdom values and principles of the kingdom of God”. The discussion aims to propel their understanding and zeal for some new interventions, which are expected to be pursued as part of the unleashing agenda of the church.

“I pray that these discussions will stir up within us a renewed zeal to push for the transformation of every sphere of society with the values and principles of the Kingdom of God”, Apostle Nyamekye reiterated, adding that “we should, therefore, not consider this conference as business as usual. Instead, let us open up to the Lord for more of Him”.

The Chairman used the opportunity to express his appreciation to the ministers, all officers and members of the church for their support and commitment towards the success and completion of Vision 2023.

“Vision makes a man. A life without a vision is like a ship without a rudder. Strong commitment, determination and passion are derived from understanding. The vision is for the whole church, and until it reaches them, this vision cannot be effective. Think of them and how they’ll grasp them”. Apostle Nyamekye stated.

Maintain Godly Companionship – Chairman Advises Youth

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost and President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council  (GPCC), Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has advised Christian youth to find and maintain godly companionship which will help them in their journey of life.

He said this when he delivered a sermon at the 2024 PENSA Ghana Conference on January 5, 2024 at the Pentecost Convention Centre, Gomoa-Fetteh.

Speaking to the topic: “Amnon Had A Friend”, he explored the consequences of misguided affections, particularly focusing on the story of Amnon and the subtle influence of his friend.

Apostle Nyamekye contrasted the destructive nature of lust with the sacrificial essence of love, pointing out the tragic impact of Amnon’s actions on his sister and the resulting discord among siblings.

“Lust is senseless and careless, while love subordinates feelings to value,” he stressed.

Quoting Proverbs 18:24, Apostle Nyamekye addressed the dual existence of “Jonadabs” (negative influences) and “Jonathans” (positive influences) in life.

He said that, “Jonadabs (bad friends) will take you out of the church, pull you out of your home, ruin your career, and be a destruction to you.”

He cautioned the youth to be people who fear God, walk with wisdom, and very diligent.

The sermon further explored the principles of choosing friends wisely, with biblical guidance from Psalm 119:63, Proverbs 13:20, and Proverbs 12:24.

Apostle Nyamekye encouraged, “The basic principle to apply when looking for a friend is to be a friend to all who fear the Lord.”

Throughout the sermon, the importance of being a friend of God was underscored, with references to 2 Chronicles 20:7, Exodus 33:11, and Jonah 2:8.

Apostle Nyamekye stressed, “God is looking for a certain person, a person of a good heart.”

In his closing remarks, Apostle Nyamekye commended the youth as the strength and future of the church.

“What makes you a strong Christian is when you cultivate a habit of praying yourself”, he encouraged.

Chairman Urges Youth To Cultivate A “Joshua Generation Mentality” For National Transformation

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has urged Christian youth to cultivate the “can do” mentality of the Joshua generation in order to transform the nations.

He made this address on Wednesday, January 3, 2023, at the 2024 PENSA Ghana Conference which is being held at the Pentecost Students’ and Associates (PENSA) – KNUST branch auditorium.

Basing his sermon on Joshua 1, he began by reminding Christians of life’s temporal nature, urging them to make their existence a period of fruitful labour.

With the mind being the main factor in his presentation, Apostle Nyamekye noted that “Great leadership doesn’t guarantee great achievement alone. The mindset of those who walk with you is crucial in determining success.”

He acknowledged the transformative power of the mind, asserting that societal change must commence with a profound shift in mentality.

“Transformation begins in the mind. We cannot possess or transform nations or our world when we have a certain kind of mentality. If you want to transform society, it must begin with your mind,” he explained.

Encouraging believers to cultivate a clear understanding of their identity, the nature of their God, and His purpose, Apostle Nyamekye remarked,

“Understanding brings conviction. When you are convicted, it seems like you have been apprehended; you then become a prisoner for God.”

Drawing a poignant comparison between the Joshua and Moses generations that emerged from Egypt, he highlighted the pivotal role of mindset in their journeys. “Caleb and Joshua had a different spirit. They wholeheartedly depended on God. They had a pioneering spirit. They took God at His word despite their circumstances,” he explained.

Quoting Psalm 78, Apostle Nyamekye passionately declared, “This generation, the Moses’ generation is dead. God is demanding a new generation, the Joshua generation.”

He underscored the importance of aligning one’s thoughts with God’s word, referencing Deuteronomy 9:1-3, where Moses tells the Joshua generation that they are going to Canaan to take over the land.

Addressing the need for courage in taking over nations, Apostle Nyamekye emphatically stated,

“For us to take over the nations, courage will rise with danger.”

He stressed the necessity of making God renowned in the land of Ghana, saying, “We need to make God famous in the land of Ghana.”

The Chairman concluded by connecting the “Possessing the Nations” agenda and unleashing mandate with a “Joshua Mentality Generation” stressing their courage, boldness, a willingness to tread unfamiliar territories, and advancing the Kingdom of God to all nations.

“When we talk about the youth, we are talking about the strength, future, and challenge of the church. But we will manage the challenge and take the future for the Church,” he added.

The Death Of Jesus Is Enough For Us – Apostle Nyamekye web

The Death Of Jesus Is Enough For Us – Apostle Nyamekye

“We should no longer fear death because Christ has broken the power of death and freed us. Jesus’ death for us is enough.”

These were the words of the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, as he delivered a sermon on Sunday, December 24, 2023, at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC) Asokwa, Kumasi, during the climax of their 2023 Christmas convention.

Speaking on the topic, “The Virgin Birth,” the Chairman asserted that the essence of Christmas lies in the profound narratives of Jesus Christ’s incarnation and sacrificial death for humanity.

Highlighting the Christian faith’s distinctiveness, Apostle Nyamekye underscored the importance of two fundamental beliefs: the incarnation, signifying God becoming man, and the death and resurrection of Christ.

He emphasised that these tenets, encapsulated in the Christmas and Easter narratives, set Christianity apart from other religions.

Apostle Nyamekye stated: “Christmas and Easter separate Christianity from any other religion. It is in this simple gospel that we have come to faith. Christmas is a significant event in the life of Christians and Christianity.”

Addressing potential criticisms of Christmas, the Chairman, who doubles as the President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), urged Christians to celebrate the holiday fervently, rejecting objections based on its Christian foundation.

He remarked: “Let the whole world know that Jesus has purchased their salvation and that they must receive it by faith. No sinner in your home should die and go to hell because Jesus has paid their price. Tell them of the new arrangement of Christ, that He has purchased their salvation.”

Referencing Isaiah 7:14 and Matthew 1, Apostle Nyamekye elucidated the strategic nature of Jesus’ birth, pointing to compelling proofs of the virgin birth. He cited instances where Jesus referred to God as His father, never addressing Mary as His mother, and explicitly claiming to be the Son of God.

According to the Chairman, a crucial aspect of the virgin birth is its role in reversing the impact of sin on humanity.

Quoting John 6:39, he emphasised that Jesus came into the world to overturn the effects of sin uniquely, distinguishing His entrance from conventional human birth.

Further expounding on the importance of the virgin birth, Apostle Nyamekye explained its role in qualifying Jesus to be humanity’s High Priest, drawing from Hebrews 2:11-17. By sharing humanity’s experiences, Jesus broke the power of death, he stressed.

The Chairman highlighted the redemptive significance of Jesus’ death, citing Hebrews 9:22. He asserted that Jesus, through His sacrificial act, became the propitiation for sins, appeasing the wrath of God and securing salvation for believers.

The PIWC Askowa 2023 Christmas convention, which was held under the theme, “I bring You Good News (Luke 2:10),” began on Wednesday, December 20, 2023. Speakers included Apostle Peter Kofi Dzemekey (Asokwa Area Head), Apostle Prof. Joseph I. T. Buertey (Resident Minister, PIWC Asokwa) and Overseer Joshua Semador.

Present at the service included Mrs Mary Nyamekye, the wife of the Chairman, and Apostle Peter Kofi Dzamekey (Asokwa Area Head).

Guard Your Name – Apostle Nyamekye To Politicians

The President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) and Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has urged parliamentarians and politicians in general to guard their names as their most important asset.

Apostle Nyamekye said this in an exhortation delivered at this year’s Nine Lessons and Carols, organised by the Parliament of Ghana. The event was held under the auspices of the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin.

Speaking on the topic, “The Importance of Names,” he highlighted that a person’s identity is encapsulated in their name, serving as a container for all that they are.

He emphasised that a good name surpasses even material wealth, asserting that the name of Jesus, earned through the atonement, stands as a testament to the importance of a virtuous reputation.

Exploring the earned name of Jesus, Apostle Nyamekye expounded on the divine significance of Jesus’ atonement, which led to the bestowment of a name above all others.

Drawing parallels to human existence, he stressed the importance of individuals working to build and protect their names, ensuring a lasting legacy in society.

The GPCC President urged parliamentarians to prioritise a good name over political gains.

Quoting from Samuel 20:1, he stated the need to protect one’s identity.

He further highlighted the purchasing power of a good name, stating that it outlives the bearer and has the potential to influence others positively.

Apostle Nyamekye quoted Proverbs 22, reinforcing the message that one’s name is their most significant asset, deserving protection.

He cautioned against carelessness with one’s name and urged deliberate investment to preserve and enhance it.

The call to make great sacrifices and serve those entrusted to their care echoed through his references to Job 29:7 and Esther 10:2.

Apostle Nyamekye concluded his message by advising politicians and people of authority to live and work for the people.

Stressing the divine purpose of leadership, he asserted that by serving others, leaders would leave lasting legacies, ensuring that their names linger on in the hearts and minds of the people.

Apostle Eric Nyamekye was accompanied by his wife, Mrs Mary Nyamekye, and Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, the General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost.

Present at the event were His Excellency Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia (Vice President of The Republic of Ghana), Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo (Chief Justice, The Republic of Ghana), Parliamentarians from both sides of the House and many other distinguished guests.

Praise The Lord At All Times web

Praise The Lord At All Times – Chairman Advises Christians

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost (CoP), Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has called upon Christians to consciously celebrate the goodness of the Lord under all circumstances.

The Chairman said this today [December 12, 2023] during this year’s annual CoP Headquarters Management and Staff Retreat at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh, near Kasoa in the Central Region of Ghana.

Speaking on the topic: “Praise the Lord At All Times,” with Psalm 34:1-2 as his foundational text, Apostle Eric Nyaemkye emphasised that while it may be easier to praise and extol the name of the Lord during favourable times, it becomes challenging during difficult moments.

Using the example of Job, he encouraged Christians to make a deliberate choice to bless the name of the Lord at all times, especially when faced with unfavourable circumstances.

“Praise is a choice. You can decide to praise or complain. So, when you wake up and hear bad news, you can still decide to let praise proceed from your mouth,” he remarked.

Apostle Nyamekye highlighted that praise is an expression of gratitude to the Almighty God for goodness and mercies, and it is important for believers to cultivate this attitude.

Drawing from the story of Leah in Genesis 29:31-35, he illustrated how she chose to complain about not being loved by her husband, but her situation remained unchanged until she decided to praise the Lord after the birth of her fourth son, whom she named Judah, meaning praise.

The Chairman underscored that praise is an acknowledgement that the Lord is God and that He is a good God., adding that the ability to praise God in times of predicament is a testament to one’s spiritual maturity.

He, therefore, urged Christians to focus on praiseworthy thoughts and ensure that only praiseworthy words proceed from their mouths.

This year’s Management and Staff retreat will feature new activities, including indoor games to foster camaraderie among staff and a carol service to express gratitude to God for His faithfulness throughout the year. The event will close on Friday, December 15, 2023, with a retirement service for retiring staff.
