All Ministers’ Conference: We Are Trusting God For Great Revival

The Convenor of the maiden All Ministers’ Conference, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has assured that the great power of God will be manifested in the upcoming conference.

The non-denominational conference which is being organised by The Church of Pentecost for Ghanaian ministers of the gospel, takes place from September 13-16, 2022, at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh, near Kasoa in the Central Region of Ghana.

Apostle Nyamekye, who is the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, believes that God has a purpose for the Church and, through the conference, that purpose will be realised so that the face of Christianity in Ghana will be changed for the better.

Speaking at a 2-day orientation and prayer session for heads and their wives of The Church of Pentecost on Monday, September 12, 2022, towards the All Ministers’ Conference, Apostle Nyamekye disclosed that the conference has been oversubscribed as over 400 different Christian denominations have so far registered their ministers to take part in the event.

He indicated that due to limited accommodation facilities currently at the convention centre, only 2,800 participants will be admitted to the conference.

Reading from Joshua 10: 40-43, Apostle Nyamekye said that Joshua was able to conquer the strong nations at Kadesh because the Lord fought the battles for him.

Relating it to the enviable position that the Lord has brought The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Nyamekye intimated that God has taken the church from the fringes of society to the limelight.

“God has blessed The Church of Pentecost so much. A church that had no name and respect some years back, is today taking the initiative to organise this big conference for the Christian community in Ghana. This is how great the Lord has made this church.”

“We are not going to teach them how to do or manage their churches; we respect what they are doing. But we want to forge together as a unit to build the body of Christ.”

The All Ministers’ Conference is on the theme: “Rediscovering and Fulfilling the Purpose of the Church” – Ephesians 3:10, Titus 2:13-14.

The speakers include Apostle Eric Nyamekye (Chairman, CoP), Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah (Rtd), immediate past Chairman of CoP and former President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), Rev. Prof. Paul Frimpong-Manso (President of the GPCC and immediate past General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana), Rev. Dr. Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong (former General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana), and Apostle Dr. Ami-Narh (President of The Apostle Church).

Believers Youth Forum Hands Over Members, Facilities To The Church Of Pentecost

A total of 80 members, comprising 50 adults and 30 children, and facilities of the Believers Youth Forum (BYF), an evangelistic and prayer ministry at Tsikpe in the Volta Region of Ghana, have been handed over to The Church of Pentecost by the leader, Reverend Mrs Hetty Appah.

The facilities are made up of a church auditorium with a youth conference hall, children’s and nursing mothers’ rooms, washrooms, a set of drums, furniture, two speakers, a summer hat, and a pumping machine with an overhead poly tank.

Others are a three-bedroom self-contained apartment, 6 plots of cassava farm, a parcel of land measuring 101.49 acres with coconut and palm plantations, and Information Centre Equipment.

The historic ceremony was held on Friday, September 2, 2022, at Tsikpe, in the Juapong District of the Agormanya Area of The Church of Pentecost.

Among those present were the Agormanya Area Head and his wife, Apostle Samuel and Mrs Grace Gakpetor, Rev. Mrs Hetty Appah and family, Pastor Joseph Anenyah Ntoso (Juapong District Minister), Elder William Asare-Gyapong (Area Deacon), Deaconess Janet Naatey (Area Women’s Ministry Leader), and some ministers and their wives in the Area.

The Akrade District Minister of the church, Pastor Joseph Kwadwo Tawiah, quoting from Ephesians 6:10-12, Isaiah 5:6-7, Mark 11:17, stated that prayer is a weapon for possessing the nations which must be done effectively.

He spoke on the topic, “My House Shall Be Called A House Of Prayer to Possess the Nations.”

Pastor Tawiah stressed that just as the early church prayed in Acts 2:42, Christians must also be steadfast and tarry in prayer for it to yield results.

“One of the topics under this year’s theme is intercessory prayers. It is my hope that this place shall be a place of intercessory prayers,” he said.

Concluding, Pastor Tawiah urged that a good maintenance culture must be developed in taking care of the donated facilities, saying, “When the eye sees, the leg must move and hands must touch, hence maintenance should be our priority.”

In a brief speech, Rev. Mrs Hetty Appah, Leader of Believers Youth Forum, expressed her joy in accomplishing such a gesture, because it was a revelation from God to her.

“I strongly believe that The Church of Pentecost will greatly utilise the facilities to affect the lives of generations positively,” she stressed.

Receiving the items on behalf of The Church of Pentecost, the Agormanya Area Head, Apostle Samuel Gakpetor, expressed his appreciation to Rev. Mrs Hetty and her family for their thoughtful gesture, adding that the facilities will go a long way to help the church, especially as it seeks to possess the nations.

To cater for the spiritual and welfare needs of the former members of the Believers Youth Forum (BYF), a local assembly named Tsikpe No. 2 Assembly, has been created and consequently inaugurated, under the Juapong District of the Church.

Pentecost Convention Centre Gets New Board

A ten-member board chaired by Apostle Sylvester Arhin (Executive Council Member and Tamale Area Head) of The Church of Pentecost has been inaugurated to oversee the operations of the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), a multi-purpose Christian retreat and event centre, located at Gomoa Fetteh, near Kasoa.

Other members of the board are Apostle James Kwabena Asare (Kasoa Area Head), Apostle Lawrence Otu-Nyarko (Finance and Administration Director of the church), Pastor Prince Odoom (Centre Manager), and Pastor James Orhin Agyin (Projects Development & Estate Manager of the church).

The rest are Elder Robert Mensah (PIWC-Sunyani), Elder Augustine Sarpong (PIWC-Atomic), Lawyer Benjamin Ampoma-Boateng (PIWC-Kokomlemle), Deaconess Mary Ankomah Sarpong (Madina District) and Mrs Diana Frema Nyarko (Headquarters).

Inaugurating the board at the General Headquarters of the church at La, Accra on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, thanked members of the board for accepting to serve the church in that capacity.

According to the Chairman, though they were carefully chosen based on their expertise and experiences, they should see it as pure grace, having been selected out of the millions of members to contribute their quota to the growth of the church.

He noted that The Church of Pentecost is doing great largely due to the fervent prayers coupled with laid-down administrative structures.

He said that boards and committees are some of the structures that are helping the church to thrive.

Apostle Nyamekye charged the board to bring to bear their rich knowledge, expertise and experiences to take the PCC to another level.

He further urged them to ensure that the purpose of constructing the Convention Centre is kept in focus.

“The Pentecost Convention Centre was built for a purpose. The purpose is to make the place a retreat centre. Therefore, the ambiance at the place should look like a Christian retreat centre, and the presence of God should be felt there,” he said, adding, “This purpose must be jealously guarded.”

Reading from Ephesians 4:16, he entreated them to work in love and collaboration with other sectors of the church.

In response, the Board Chairman, Apostle Sylvester Arhin, gave thanks to God for the opportunity to serve the church. He promised to bring their God-given knowledge and expertise to bear to effectively run the Centre.

He also commended his predecessors for the good work done.

As part of the functions of the board, it is to develop policies that will help the Centre Manager to manage and run the facility in a sustainable manner; publicise the existence of the Centre to engender greater patronage, and make the place secure and user-friendly to patrons.

In attendance were Apostles Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi and Emmanuel Agyemang Bekoe, the General Secretary and the International Missions Director of the church, respectively.

Prof. Frimpong-Manso added.

Sermon

Delivering the sermon on the topic, “The True Value Of Our Work Is With The Lord,” the 2nd Vice President of GPCC, who doubles as Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye admonished the clergy to eschew unnecessary complaints associated with their ministries and work in the Lord.

“Stop complaining, you may never know how far reaching the river of life in you is flowing and who it is blessing,” Apostle Nyamekye cautioned, urging them to be fountains through which the life of Jesus can flow through like rivers of waters to bless others.

The Chairman further said that to fulfil God’s assignment on earth, Christians must stay connected to Jesus, the source of the living water, so that the rivers of life will constantly flow through them in blessing others, adding, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”

He, then, encouraged Rev. Dr. Barrigah and Apostle Tettey to look up to God and not to men who only distract the call of God.

The True Value Of Our Work Is With The Lord – Chairman Tells Church Leaders

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has stated that the true value of Christian service can only be determined by the Lord.

This, according to the Chairman, is because the success of ministry work is based on how much of God’s Life (living water) flows through an individual to bless humanity.

Apostle Eric Nyamekye said this today during a farewell service held in honour of the outgone Kaneshie Area Head, Apostle Mike Etrue, and his family at the Kaneshie Central Assembly church auditorium.

Preaching on the topic: “The True Value Of Our Work Is With The Lord” with Matthew 19:27-30 as his anchor text, Apostle Nyamekye said that like Peter, most Christians, particularly Church leaders, are sometimes skeptical about the reward they stand to gain from their Christian service to the Lord.

The Chairman, therefore, assured believers that the Lord rewards every work that is done for Him.

Quoting John 7:37-38, he explained that God has deposited in every believer a river of living water, which is the life of God; this living water is the solution to the world’s problems.

“This living water is quickened by the Holy Spirit to well up within us and flow from within us to be a blessing to humanity,” he said.

According to the Chairman, the most important thing God expects of the believer is to be the channel through whom His living water would flow to bless others.

“When we come to faith in Jesus, it is not what we gain that matters to God but what He pours through us that really counts. This is the true measure of the ministry and Christian life, and it is what the Lord rewards,” he said.

He emphasised that, unlike the people of the world who measure the success of ministry and Christian service by one’s fame, riches etc., God does not judge by what is seen by the eyes but by righteousness.

He, therefore, urged Christians, especially Church leaders, to always focus on becoming a fountain through which the life of Jesus can flow as rivers of living water to bless others.

“So, let us stop complaining and rather focus on how God’s Life (living water) can flow through us,” he advised

He also urged ministers to manage their expectations of the material benefits and praise they receive from human beings for their service since the true value of their work is only seen by God.

“While the disciples saw the breaking of the alabaster jar as a waste, Jesus saw it as valuable. Also, while the widow’s mite was seen as little, the Lord singled it out as the most valuable. So, it is the Lord who knows the true value of our service, and not humans,” he explained.

To earn the Master’s reward in their Christian service, the Chairman advised believers to stay connected to Jesus, the source of the living water, so that the rivers of living water will constantly flow through them to bless others.

He also advised them to have a positive attitude towards the work of God and to do every work with all their heart as working for the Lord and not for human masters (Colossians 3:23-24).

A farewell service was held today in honour of the outgone Kaneshie Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Mike Etrue, and his family in recognition of their outstanding service in the last five years that has immensely transformed the Kaneshie Area.

The event, which took place at the Kaneshie Central Assembly church auditorium, was officiated by the Chairman of the Church, Apostle Eric Nyamekye.

Rise In Prayer To Turn Your Fortunes Around – Chairman Tells Christians

Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, has underscored the importance of prayer in the lives of believers as it has the potency to change situations and circumstances affecting their families and marital lives for the better.

“We bear needless pain all because we do not carry our issues before God; we crush under burdens and yokes because we do not teach on them. So, when we teach and pray, unpleasant situations will change for the better,” Apostle Nyamekye said in a live televised sermon on PENT TV during a Special Evening Service on Sunday, August 14, 2022, as part of his series on “Marriage & Family Life – An ‘Endangered’ Institution.”

Speaking on the topic: “Be Careful What You Call Impossible,” Chairman Nyamekye urged Christian couples to invest their full trust in God for the sustenance of their marriages as they engage in prayer.

“Let us trust God for the sustenance of this institution of marriage between a biologically male and biologically female. When we rise in prayer, this thing called LGBTQI+ will fusile into thin air,” he said.

He further noted that with prayer, broken marriages and family altars will be restored; recalcitrant and wayward children will be brought back to God, and Christian homes will be churches and seminaries.

“When we lift a prayer unto God, parents will rise to their responsibilities and our marriages and family lives will be exemplary so that people will love what they see,” he added.

Reflecting on the lyrics in John Newton’s song, Apostle Nyamekye advised Christians not to despair when the situation in their marriages looks dire and impossible, but they must rather petition God through prayer. He defined prayer as “bringing God into the equation or introducing God into the matter.” He noted that reviving the institution of marriage and family life is highly possible in this perverse generation if only Christians will wrestle by prayer.

“We can raise the best husbands, best wives, best children, best masters, best servants, best magistrates, best subjects and by so doing the gospel of Christ will not be blasphemed because we were created to do good works,” he said.

He, therefore, charged Christians to arise and put on their strength (Isaiah 52:1-3), stressing that, “When we put on our strength (pray), there will be nothing out there that can be called impossible.”

To buttress his assertion, the Chairman cited an instance in Isaiah 38:1-5, when King Hezekiah, on his sickbed, prayed fervently to God and had his life prolonged by fifteen years after God Himself, through Prophet Isaiah, had told him to put his house in order because he was going to die and would not live.

“God cannot change His nature, but with prayer, He changes His mind,” he revealed.

Apostle Eric Nyamekye called on Christians, particularly married couples to rise in prayer for successful marriages and better family lives and stop being pessimistic.

“Be careful what you call impossible. All is not lost; it is not over yet. Raising family altars again is achievable; a consistent Christian life is achievable. Just lock up yourself in the room and cry unto God and relief will appear because God is still alive and not dead,” he assured.

Education Minister Calls On The Church Of Pentecost Leadership

The Minister for Education, Honourable Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, today (August 23, 2022), paid a courtesy call on the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, at the Church’s General Headquarters, in Accra.

According to the Minister of Education, the visit marks the beginning of his “listening tour” to dialogue with religious leaders in Ghana to find out their assessment of the various policies introduced by his ministry and how they could be improved to better serve the needs of the citizenry.

“Churches have mission schools that provide support and ensure the success of the educational system in Ghana. Many things are happening in the educational space, such as the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) High Schools built across the country, which I have the wonderful opportunity of briefing the Church about,” Hon. Dr. Adutwum stated.

He further stated that the Education Ministry is operationalising a major transformation in the sector to make it fit for its purpose, and in so doing, transform the fortunes of the country.

Hon. Adutwum added that his engagement with religious leaders also provides him with a unique opportunity to court the support of religious leaders, who are also key stakeholders in the sector, in his quest to transform the educational system.

He, therefore, thanked the leadership of the Church for the warm reception accorded him and also lauded the Church for its immense contribution to the transformation of Ghana and the world at large.

The Chairman, who described the initiative as “a step in the right direction,” commended the minister for acknowledging religious bodies as major key stakeholders in the educational sector, and making the necessary effort to engage with them.

He explained that human beings, as managers of the earth, need to be educated to understand and effectively and efficiently manage their environment.

He also praised him for the good work he is doing to champion education, which according to him, is very key to the development of any country.

“You are a good ambassador of The Church of Pentecost and we, as a Church, are very proud of you for attaining the level of a sector minister in the country,” he said.

He further encouraged the Minister to continue to introduce great and innovative ideas to transform the sector and to take advantage of the media to share with the citizenry the work he is doing in the educational space.

Present were Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi (General Secretary), Apostle Lawrence Otu-Nyarko (Finance & Administrative Director, COP), Apostle Vincent Anane-Denteh (Men’s Ministry Director), Pastor Prof. William Otoo Ellis (Children’s Ministry Director), Elder Richard Amaning (Pentecost Social Services, PENTSOS Director), and Mrs. Eunice Anima Pumpuni, (Institutional Development and Support Manager, PENTSOS).

“He Is Irreplaceable!” – Chairman Eulogises Apostle Amaniampong (Retired)

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has eulogised the outgone La Area Head of the Church, Apostle John Osei Amaniampong, saying that the retired minister has left a legacy of diligence, hard work, and faithfulness in ministry.

“Apostle Amaniampong is very respectful, submissive to authority and one whom you could always trust to uphold the policies of the Church. For some time now, I have found it very difficult to accept the fact that Apostle Amaniampong is retiring from active ministry because he is irreplaceable,” he said.

Apostle Eric Nyamekye gave this glowing eulogy today when he officiated a retirement service held in honour of the retired minister, his wife, Mrs. Mary Amaniampong, and children, at the Dr. Thomas Wyatt Memorial Temple.

The event, which was characterised by great joy and pomp, was a befitting send-off service for the man who had served God and the Church meritoriously for 33 years.

Apostle John Osei Amaniampong was called into the full-time ministry of The Church of Pentecost in 1989 and was first stationed at Aboso District. After five years of fruitful service, he served in Tarkwa District, from 1994 to 2000 and was later transferred to Asokwa District, where he pastored for six years.

Subsequently, he spent two years as District Pastor at Mamprobi District and then La-Nkwantanang District from 2008 to 2014, where he was appointed as an Area Head and assigned to the Dunkwa Area in 2014. In the year 2016, he was called into the office of Apostle in The Church of Pentecost. His final ministerial transfer came in 2018 and has since served as Area Head of the La Area Head until his retirement.

A testimony read on behalf of the General Council of the Church at the event, described him as “an embodiment of hard work and discipline and a project-oriented minister who saw to the infrastructural growth of the church in every station he served.”

Preaching on the topic: “A Worthy Steward” at the event with Luke 7:2-10 as his main scripture reference, Prophet David Kankam Beditor, the Ashaiman Area Head and an Executive Council Member of the Church, said that the Centurion would not have sought Jesus’ intervention for his servant if he did not have much respect for him (servant).

He said that the Centurion went out of his way to help his servant because the latter had some exemplary virtues that made him valuable to his master.

According to him, the servant had a right attitude, was diligent, hardworking, obedient, hardworking, trustworthy, and very serviceable.

He, therefore, urged Christians to demonstrate such commendable traits in their relationship with others, especially at the workplace.

Prophet Kankam Beditor further noted that in addition to the extraordinary faith exhibited by the Centurion, he also possessed some noteworthy traits which Christian leaders must strive to have.

He said that the Centurion was one who loved his nation and contributed towards the Church by singlehandedly constructing a synagogue for the Jews.

The Ashaiman Area Head also said the Centurion was compassionate and sympathetic towards his subordinates, was humble, and gave due respect to those in authority.

“The Centurion related well with the Elders of the Jewish people, this was why he was able to ask the Elders of the Jews to make the request to Jesus on his behalf,” he said.

Prophet Kankam Beditor, therefore, advised Christian leaders not to lord themselves over their subordinates but to treat them with love and respect.

The retirement service for the Amaniampongs drew many dignitaries from far and near, most of whom were active ministers as well as members of the Church. Amongst them were Apostle Emmanuel Ofei Ankra-Badu (Tema Area Head), Apostle Martin Seth Appiah (Madina Area Head), Apostle James Asare (Kasoa Area Head), Apostle ADP James Tetteh, and Apostle Abraham Swanzy (Chairman, Ghana Evangelism Committee)

Some retired ministers of the Church; namely, Apostle Rigwell Ato Addison, Apostle Dr. Emmanuel Anthony Owusu, Apostle Prof. Peter Ohene Kyei, and Apostle Michael Asiedu, also graced the event.

The Church of Pentecost Donates Laptops to University of Ghana

The Church of Pentecost has set the pace by being the first institution to donate 30 pieces of laptops towards the University of Ghana’s ‘One Student, One Laptop Initiative’ at a short ceremony held at the Legon Campus, yesterday.

As part of its strategic vision to achieve world-class status, Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana (UG) is leading the university towards ‘creating a culture that promotes research, teaching and learning, administrative processes and extension activities driven by technology and anchored in humanism’ for the benefit of all stakeholders.

In this regard, various initiatives are underway to enhance stakeholder experience through digitalisation.

The Vice-Chancellor in relation to this identified the following three-pronged technology-driven initiatives to enhance the experience of students, faculty, and staff:  Classroom Modernisation, One Student One Laptop (1S1L), and Hot-Spot Comfort Zones.

Briefing the church about the project, Professor Gordon Awandare, Chairman of the Implementation Committee, who doubles as the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Academic and Student Affairs, UG, indicated that the school seeks strategic partnerships from individuals and corporate bodies.

“We are reaching out to corporate bodies interested in participating in this, for the purpose of advertisement. Companies can adopt a classroom and modernize it,” the Pro VC said.

Professor Amfo lauded the church for the kind gesture and assured that the laptops would be fairly distributed to needy students who merit it.

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, pledged the continuous support of the church towards the project as a move to assist students in their academic laurels.

The Chairman also used the opportunity to congratulate the Vice-Chancellor on her appointment as the 1st Female Vice-Chancellor for the University of Ghana. He further encouraged her to trust in God in the discharge of her duties to achieve greater things in office.

Apostle Nyamekye then introduced the appointed Resident Campus Minister for the university, Pastor Kwadwo and Mrs. Eunice Obeng, to the management and urged the leadership of the university to support his pastoral activities on campus.

With dwindling governmental support due to competing national needs, Management of the University of Ghana seeks the support of benevolent donors from within and outside the University to finance the initiatives.
