The Story Of Easter Is Trustworthy, Full Of Truth – Apostle Kwafo Affirms

The National Coordinator of the Home and Urban Missions (HUM) of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Emmanuel Agyei Kwafo, has declared that the story of Easter is not a folklore but trustworthy and full of truth.

According to him, the purpose of Easter includes the journey from Gethsemane to Jerusalem, where the disciples received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Without these key events, he stressed, the celebration of Easter is incomplete, saying, ‘This story is not a folktale.’

He said this during the Mamprobi Zone 2025 Easter Convention in the Dansoman Area held at the Mamprobi Worship Centre (MWC).

Speaking on the theme, ‘The Purpose of the Death of Jesus” (Hebrews 2:10, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4), Apostle Kwafo stated that the message of Easter has the power to transform the dead into life, turn drunkards into resourceful individuals, and bring healing and restoration.

He underscored that the Easter story encapsulates the suffering of Jesus from Gethsemane through to Golgotha. The suffering of Christ did not end at the cross; it continued through His resurrection and post-resurrection encounters with the disciples – culminating at Bethany, where He ascended into glory.

Citing Isaiah 6:1, ‘It was in the year King Uzziah died that I saw the Lord,’ he encouraged the Christians to believe that they, too, would testify of divine interventions in their marriages and lives during this year’s convention, saying, ‘The visitation of the Lord will come upon us all. May this convention draw us closer to Jesus.’

He further urged Christians to proclaim the Easter message to the nations. Reflecting on the events at the tomb, he referenced Luke 23:39-43, affirming: ‘Jesus died, resurrected, ascended into Heaven, and will come again.’

He addressed common misconceptions about Easter, stating that while many may argue that Jesus who was crucified is not the true Son of God, ‘This Jesus is the one who suffered during Easter. He is the Son of God – God Himself – who humbled Himself to be born of the Virgin Mary through divine fertilization.’

Referencing Luke 23, Apostle Kwafo painted a vivid picture of Jesus’ journey to the cross. He outlined the purpose of Jesus’ death, emphasising that Jesus came to destroy Satan and his works.

‘Since the creation of Adam, life has been temporary and death permanent. No descendant of Adam has reversed this pattern, until Jesus. He changed the record: ‘Death is temporary, but life in Him is eternal.’”

He further stated: ‘Anyone who accepts and believes in Christ receives eternal life, for Christ has disarmed the power of sin and death.’

Apostle Kwafo affirmed that ‘the death of Jesus has fully dealt with sin, sickness, generational curses, joblessness, and more. To overcome these, we must exercise our faith in Christ.’

He concluded with a bold declaration: ‘If God does not and cannot sin, then we, as Christians, cannot live in sin. Any Christian who continues in sin is not a true member of the body of Christ. We are not slaves to sin because we are born anew in Christ.’

In attendance were Mrs Agartha Agyei Kwafo, wife of HUM Coordinator, the pastorate of the Mamprobi Zone, officers and members of the church.

Jesus Came to Save, Not to Condemn Sinners – Apostle Samuel Obuobi web

Jesus Came to Save, Not to Condemn Sinners – Apostle Samuel Obuobi

The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Obuobi, has emphasised that Jesus Christ came to earth not to condemn sinners, but to save them from the guilt and consequences of sin.

Delivering a sermon titled “Now No Condemnation” during the Holy Saturday service of the Taifa Zone in the Achimota Area, as part of this year’s Easter Conventions, Apostle Obuobi explained that Jesus is not concerned with the sinful state people find themselves in. Rather, He is focused on redeeming them. “That is why all who put their faith in Him are not condemned,” he said.

Using Romans 8:1 as his foundational text, Apostle Obuobi stated, “There is now no condemnation for those who believe in Christ.” He clarified that to be condemned means to be declared guilty and deserving of punishment.

He pointed out that freedom from condemnation requires two key conditions, that is, being in Christ, and walking according to the Spirit, not the flesh.

Tracing the origin of condemnation to the Garden of Eden, he cited Romans 6:23 and Romans 5:12 to show that humanity fell under condemnation through Adam’s disobedience. “When Adam sinned, all humanity was condemned with him. Death spread to all through his disobedience,” he stressed.

“In the Garden of Eden, mankind was declared guilty and worthy of punishment. That punishment was death—the consequence of disobedience,” he added.

However, Apostle Obuobi proclaimed the good news that in Christ Jesus, humanity has been released from this condemnation. “Through Christ, we are freed from the guilt and punishment of sin,” he said.

He reiterated that Jesus did not come to judge or condemn sinners, but to save them. As a result, those who believe in Christ are no longer condemned but are now justified.

He explained that justification is a remissive act, in which God forgives and cancels sin completely. He further noted that justification is a restorative act, in which the forgiven sinner is restored to God’s favor through the imputed righteousness of Christ.

“God now sees the believer through the lens of Christ. He no longer sees us as sinners, but as righteous. This gives us the confidence to come before Him,” Apostle Obuobi said.

He emphasized that the foundation of justification is the atoning work of Jesus—His death and resurrection—as stated in Romans 5:9 and Romans 4:25. “When a person accepts Christ, God places their sin on Christ and credits them with His righteousness,” he explained.

He further noted that justification does not mean the punishment was simply withheld. “The punishment for sin was executed—but not on us. Jesus took our place and bore the punishment on our behalf,” he said.

Apostle Obuobi concluded with an appeal to those who have not yet accepted Christ to do so, in order to be freed from the guilt and consequences of sin, and to experience the peace that Christ alone can provide.

Believers Are Unstoppable! – Apostle Samuel Obuobi

The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, has declared that the power demonstrated in the resurrection of Jesus Christ makes every believer unstoppable.

Preaching on the topic “The Power of the Resurrection” at the climax of the 2025 Easter Convention of the Teshie-Nungua Area (Teshie Zone) held at Salem Park, Teshie, Apostle Obuobi stated that nothing could hold Jesus back—not the sealed stone, the Roman soldiers, nor the efforts of religious leaders. In the same way, he affirmed, nothing can stop the believer who walks in the power of Christ.

“Every attempt was made to prevent Jesus from rising,” he said. “Religious authorities schemed, and the enemy strategised to keep Him in the grave. But all of it failed. The power of God triumphed over every opposition.”

Quoting 1 Corinthians 15:14, Apostle Obuobi emphasized that the resurrection is the cornerstone of the Christian faith. “If Christ had not risen, our faith would be futile, and the gospel would be meaningless,” he explained. “But because He rose, we have a living hope and a firm foundation.”

He noted that the resurrection is not just a historical event but a present reality that assures believers of victory over sin, Satan, and death. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead, he stressed, is active and available to every believer today.

“The strategy of the devil was to keep Jesus in the grave permanently,” he said. “But God displayed His surpassing power by raising Him back to life. That power still works today—it lives in us!”

Apostle Obuobi also highlighted the resurrection as a guarantee of the believer’s future resurrection. “Death is not the end for the Christian,” he said. “Just as Christ rose, we too will rise again (1 Corinthians 15:21-22).”

He urged Christians to walk in the confidence that the Spirit of the Living God dwells within them, and that Christ reigns now and forever.

Apostle Obuobi concluded by inviting those who have not yet accepted Christ to do so without delay, assuring them that encountering Jesus is the only way to experience the true power of the resurrection.

Jesus Is The Only Gateway To Heaven – Apostle Okyere Anti Asserts

The Resident Minister for Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC)-Graceland in the Teshie-Nungua Area of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Felix Okyere Anti, has declared that the only gateway to heaven for all people on earth is through Jesus Christ.

He made this assertion during the opening day of the 2025 Easter convention for the PIWCs and Worship Centres in Teshie-Nungua Area, held at GHACEM Park, Sakumono, Accra.

Speaking on the first day of the convention on Thursday, April 17, 2025, Apostle Anti narrated the genesis of the fall of man in the Garden of Eden and how God, through His son Jesus Christ, has redeemed humanity from the shackles and claws of the devil.

Reading several scriptures, including Genesis 1:26-28, Romans 3:23, John 14:6, Hebrews 9:22, and 2 Corinthians 8:9, he urged Christians to continue believing in Jesus Christ, who is the gateway to heaven.

‘Whoever believes in Jesus will be saved,’ he said, adding, ‘The Son of God became the Son of Man to redeem humanity and reconcile us back to divinity.’

According to Apostle Anti, God created mankind out of love and is still pursuing man to come back to Him. In the fullness of time, God sent His Son to redeem mankind. He also mentioned that Jesus was born to set man free from sin.

“Men are under oppression, but Jesus says, ‘Come to me, all who are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.’”

Apostle Anti urged believers to draw near to Jesus Christ, as He has the power to free sinners from sin, heal all diseases, illnesses, and infirmities, and give life to lifeless things.

He concluded by challenging the people to come and experience the life Jesus offers, saying, ‘If your beginning is small, if you accept this Jesus, your end will be great.’

The convention comprises the two PIWCs in the area, PIWC-Sakumono and PIWC-Graceland, along with other worship centres, namely Daniel K. Annan, S. K. Ayinor, and Thomas Nyarko Worship Centres. The theme for the convention is: ‘The Crucified Christ is Alive,’ taken from Acts 3:15 and Ephesians 4:1.

Put On The New Man Created In God – Apostle Nyamekye Charges Christians

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has urged Christians to avoid being slaves to fear and to embrace the new man created in God.

According to him, the covenant surrounding the death of Jesus is meant to deliver humanity from its enemies so that they can serve God fearlessly, in holiness and righteousness.

Apostle Nyamekye spoke on the theme “Destiny Changer” at the New Tafo Zone Easter Convention on Friday evening, April 18, 2025, held at the Krofrom M/A School Park.

Touching on the anchor text of the theme, Deuteronomy 21:18–21, Apostle Nyamekye explained that Jesus’ death on the cross of Calvary was a deliberate act of God to fulfill the punishment of a disobedient son under the law of Moses, substituting the rebellious lifestyle of man for His magnificent life.

‘The law demanded that if someone has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father and mother and will not listen to them when they discipline him, his father and mother shall take him to the gates of the town. After defining his charges, the men of the town are to stone him to death to purge the evil from among you,’ he explained.

He established that because Pilate found nothing wrong with Jesus and wished to free Him. In an attempt to salvage the situation, Pilate chose to invoke the annual criminal release provision; however, the Jews instead selected the prisoner Barabbas and demanded to change the inscription on the cross, ‘THE KING OF THE JEWS,’ which did not hold.

‘The King of the Jews was written on the cross when He was hung on the tree, and the Jews demanded an alteration. However, Pilate rejected their plea, saying, ‘What is written is written.’ This means that every writing by God in your favour cannot be altered,’ he corroborated.

The Chairman affirmed that everything has been made new by Christ’s death, and that it is best for believers to put on the new man and walk in Him because all written ordinances against the old man have been nailed to the cross.

Apostle Nyamekye assured believers that with the perfect work on the cross, they can live lives free from fear. He further encouraged believers to never be afraid but to overcome the devil’s cunning by praying and reading God’s word consistently.

‘Many people serve Jesus out of fear. They wear amulets and rings as protection. We must observe that every house has its own issues, yet if anybody is in Christ, he is a new creation,’ he said, adding, ‘The knowledge that Jesus alone has justified you is sufficient to not be afraid.’

Embrace the Message of the Cross – GPCC President to Ghanaians

The President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has extended heartfelt Easter greetings to Christians across the country, urging Ghanaians to embrace the message of the cross in their daily lives.

In a message issued on Thursday, April 17, 2025, Apostle Nyamekye, on behalf of the National Executive Council of the GPCC, reflected on the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, describing the cross as the eternal symbol of salvation, hope, and victory for all believers.

Quoting Galatians 6:14, Apostle Nyamekye reminded Christians that while the cross may represent suffering, it ultimately reveals the profound love of Christ who laid down His life for humanity. “Let us remember that it was not nails that held Him to the cross, but love – love for you and love for me,” he emphasized.

He added that the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross was not only redemptive for individuals but has the power to transform entire nations. “Ghana, like many nations of the world, stands in need of healing, peace, and righteousness. During this Easter, may we turn our hearts back to the power of the cross,” he urged.

The GPCC President called on Christians to go beyond the remembrance of Christ’s death and live out the message of the cross daily, especially in their families, workplaces, churches, and communities. Citing Luke 9:23, he called for lives marked by humility, service, sacrifice, and unwavering faith.

“Although Good Friday speaks of death and sorrow, Easter Sunday brings us the full picture: the tomb is empty! Because Christ lives, we have hope for tomorrow,” Apostle Nyamekye declared, referencing Matthew 28:6.

In the face of economic difficulties, social unrest, and moral decline, he encouraged believers not to lose hope but to hold fast to the old rugged cross and the victory it represents.

He concluded by calling on all Ghanaians to let the message of the cross guide their decisions and actions, reminding them that “God sees, God cares, and God saves.”

“May this Easter bring spiritual renewal to every home, every church, and every leader in Ghana,” he prayed. Apostle Nyamekye ended the message with a timeless declaration of the Christian faith: “Christ is Risen! He is Risen Indeed!”

Jesus Is God’s Seed – Apostle Nyamekye Reveals

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has revealed that Jesus is the Seed of God who was buried, sprouted, and grown to enable believers to bear fruit.

According to Apostle Nyamekye, the death of Jesus marks the second time that God reached out to reclaim the surviving remnant of His people, following the gathering of Israel.

‘Jesus is God’s seed,’ he reiterated. ‘Jesus lives in us; He is the seed of God, and the most important part of the story was to bury Him. Through His death, He lives in us; that is Christ in you and me,’ he said.

Apostle Nyamekye was speaking on the topic, ‘We Would Like to See Jesus,’ referencing John 12:20-21, during the Easter Convention in the Suame Area on Thursday evening, April 17, 2025.

Expounding on Isaiah 11:10-12, which speaks of God’s promise to gather a remnant of His people a second time, Apostle Nyamekye explained the events that led to the fulfillment of this prophecy from the Old to the New Testaments.

Quoting John 11:49, he indicated how the resurrection of Lazarus by Jesus sparked anger and concern among the Jewish religious leaders. He asserted that the miracle caused many people to start believing in Jesus, which put pressure on the religious leaders as many were deserting them.

‘What Caiaphas instilled in the minds of the people was to kill Jesus to save their city from destruction. This was a prophecy made by the high priest, not just for the city but to gather all the children of God together. From there, they devised a plan to kill Jesus,’ he added.

Apostle Nyamekye outlined how these occurrences fitted perfectly into God’s timeline, leading to Jesus’ arrest and crucifixion. He noted that Jesus could be accessed by the rest of the world, disclosing that some Greeks had appealed to Philip, expressing their desire to see Jesus as an approach to gathering other nations.

‘They made the request because they could not see Jesus, as they were not set apart,’ he explained. ‘Jesus, upon hearing their request, revealed that unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.’

‘Jesus needed to be buried as a seed to be accessed by all. This act is the second time God gathered the rest of the remnant,’ he continued.

Apostle Nyamekye stressed that no one born of God will continue in sin because the seed of God remains in them.

He further urged believers to recognise that the death of Jesus has brought newness and transformation into their lives, hence the need to live for Him and forsake their former ways.

‘What is our response to God who gave us His only begotten Son? What shall we render unto God for what He has done for us?’ he asked. ‘We must proclaim His death by lifting the cup of salvation.’

2025 Easter Conventions Begin Across All Zones In Koforidua Area

The 2025 Easter Conventions of The Church of Pentecost have officially begun across all zones in the Koforidua Area. The area has been divided into zones, with each holding services at designated centres.

Apostle Mike Kwame Etrue, the Regional Coordinating Committee (RCC) Coordinator for the Eastern Region and Koforidua Area Head, fellowshipped on Thursday with the Akropong Zone held at the Presbyterian Senior High School park.

Preaching the sermon on the theme, ‘It Is Finished: The Message of Redemption,’ Apostle Etrue declared that Jesus has risen from the dead and that “It is finished.” He emphasised that Jesus entered Jerusalem with a divine purpose – to deliver humanity from the grip of the devil.

Apostle Etrue explained that sin had given Satan and his forces a spiritual mandate over mankind. Referring to Romans 6:23 – ‘For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord’ – he pointed out that sin led to death, but Jesus came to redeem mankind through His crucifixion.

On the cross, Jesus declared ‘it is finished,’ signifying the completion of His mission. He said Jesus paid the ultimate price to bring peace to humanity. His death was a divine exchange. Jesus came to seek and save the lost and presented Himself as a sacrifice for our sins.

According to him, Jesus said ‘It is finished’ (Tetelestai)  to signify that He has saved the souls of humanity from eternal demnation, extended mercy and grace to humanity, reconciled humanity to God and to heal and set humanity free.

Apostle Mike Kwame Etrue concluded his sermon by stressing all those who believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus are now free from the bondage of sin and have attained eternal life.
