The Twifo Praso Area of The Church of Pentecost, has commissioned a mechanized borehole water project for Twifo Praso D/A B & C and other schools in the Praso Community.
The project, which cost GH¢47,900, was commissioned by the Twifo Praso Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Lawrence Otu-Nyarko, on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the premises of the B & C Basic School.
The initiative forms part of the Church’s social intervention programme under the Vision 2028 agenda, which seeks to contribute to the development and transformation of communities through practical interventions.
The provision of the facility became a priority after the leadership of the Church identified the challenges associated with inadequate access to potable water in the schools and surrounding community.
The mechanised borehole is expected to provide potable water to Twifo Praso D/A B & C Basic School, Twifo Praso Anglican Basic School, Twifo Praso Catholic Basic School and the Twifo Praso Roman Ridge Community 1.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Apostle Otu-Nyarko preached on the theme “Jesus Christ, the Living Water,” based on John 4:5-15.
He described water as an essential necessity of life, noting that it refreshes, cleanses, cools and brings people together.
Drawing from the encounter between Jesus Christ and the Samaritan woman at the well, Apostle Otu-Nyarko said the physical water provided through the project, while important, points to a greater spiritual need.
“There is something more important than this water which has been provided, and it is called the living water,” he said, explaining that the living water comes through Jesus Christ.
He therefore urged the beneficiaries and community members to accept Jesus Christ, stressing that salvation is found in Him.
The Twifo Atti Morkwa District Chief Executive, Isaac Yawson, expressed appreciation to The Church of Pentecost for the intervention and commended the Church for responding to a critical need affecting the schools and the wider community.
The Twifo Atti Morkwa District Director of Education, Mrs Augustina Attakora, also thanked the Church for providing the facility and urged the beneficiary schools and community members to take proper care of the water system.
She emphasised the need for collective responsibility to ensure that the facility remains functional and serves its intended purpose for many years.
Mrs Attakora subsequently unveiled the project plaque, after which Apostle Otu-Nyarko officially commissioned the facility.
The commissioning was attended by the Area Secretary, Pastor Paul Mensah; Area Estate Committee Chairman, Pastor Emmanuel Asante Obeng; pastors within the Area and their spouses; Head of Finance and Administration at the District Education Office, Mr Alfred Ackumey; Headteacher of Twifo Praso D/A B & C Basic School, Madam Sanatu Billah; and other invited guests.
The Church says the intervention is intended to complement its spiritual mission by contributing to the wellbeing and development of the communities in which it operates.
