The Deputy Women’s Ministry Director of The Church of Pentecost, Deaconess Vivian Amfo, has called on women and families to intentionally raise godly homes that will positively transform society and preserve Christian values for future generations.

She made the call on Sunday, May 10, 2026, during a sermon delivered at the Darkuman Central Assembly in the Darkuman District of the Kaneshie Area as part of the climax of the 2026 National Women’s Week Celebration, which also coincided with Mother’s Day.

Speaking on the theme, “Raising God-Fearing Families as Agents of Transformation in the Society,” Deaconess Amfo emphasised that families remain the foundation of every society and that mothers, in particular, carry a divine responsibility in shaping the spiritual and moral lives of children.

Quoting from Malachi 2:15 and Genesis 18:19, she noted that God desires “godly offspring” and commended Abraham as a biblical example of a man who directed his household in the ways of the Lord.

According to her, many of the values that shape individuals are cultivated quietly at home through discipline, prayer, sacrifice, conversations, and the daily example set by parents, especially mothers.

“Mothers are not just keeping homes running; they are shaping lives and influencing generations,” she stated.

Referencing Proverbs 14:1, she encouraged women to build homes characterised by love, peace, prayer, respect, and godliness, stressing that children often learn more from the lifestyles of their parents than from verbal instruction alone.

Deaconess Amfo further urged women to become intentional in prayer, describing prayer as a powerful tool for nurturing godly families and influencing society.

Using biblical examples such as Hannah, Lois, Eunice, and Jochebed, she highlighted how the prayers and sacrifices of mothers have historically shaped destinies and nations.

She also cited historical Christian figures including Susanna Wesley and Sarah Edwards as examples of women whose disciplined prayer lives produced lasting spiritual impact across generations.

Touching on the role of the Holy Spirit in family life, Deaconess Amfo said mothers need divine wisdom, patience, discernment, and strength to navigate the challenges of raising children in today’s morally declining world.

She encouraged mothers to model the fruit of the Spirit as captured in Galatians 5:22-23 and to intentionally influence their children toward righteousness.

She further advised families to establish home altars where children can be taught prayer, worship, responsibility, kindness, service, and Christian values through practical daily living.

According to her, raising children in the fear of God equips them to become responsible and solution-oriented individuals capable of impacting society positively.

While addressing mothers, she also reminded singles and young women that they equally have influence over younger siblings, colleagues, and people around them.

Deaconess Amfo encouraged women not to grow weary in their efforts, assuring them that God sees every sacrifice, prayer, and act of love invested into building godly homes.
