Pastor George Nana Kwesi Prah Amonoo has retired from active pastoral ministry as a District Minister of The Church of Pentecost after 32 years of dedicated service.
A colourful farewell service was held in his honour on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at the M.K. Yeboah Memorial Temple of the New Tafo District.
The service brought together church leaders, dignitaries, family members, friends and congregants from Ghana and other countries where Pastor Amonoo served during his ministry.
The event was officiated by the International Missions Director of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Emmanuel Agyemang Berkoe, supported by the New Tafo Area Head, Apostle Daniel Yeboah Nsaful; Apostle Dr. Samuel Yaw Antwi (Rtd.), former Area Head for Cape Coast and former Board Chairman of the Pent Media Centre; and the entire pastorate of the New Tafo Area.
Speaking on the topic, “What Will We Get?”, Apostle Berkoe based his sermon on Matthew 19:27, where the Apostle Peter asked Jesus Christ about the reward for those who had left everything to follow Him.
Apostle Berkoe explained that following and serving Christ came with a cost, stressing that one must be prepared to pay a price to gain a price.
He noted that the sacrifices involved in Christian service could sometimes be enormous and might require individuals to surrender their lives for the sake of the gospel.
The International Missions Director, however, assured the congregation that God would reward everyone who remained faithful in His service, regardless of the sacrifices involved.
He acknowledged that the Christian journey could sometimes be difficult but encouraged believers not to give up, saying God would ultimately reward their commitment and service.
Pastor Amonoo served as District Minister in several locations, including Nakpanduri in the Bolga Area, Osu in the Greater Accra Region, Agona Swedru in the Central Region, Firestone Worship Centre in the Madina Area, Darkuman in the Kaneshie Area and New Tafo in Kumasi.
He also served as Personal Assistant to the International Missions Director at the General Headquarters of The Church of Pentecost.
He was subsequently assigned to missionary work in Finland and Denmark, as well as Botswana.
The New Tafo District Executive Committee described Pastor Amonoo as a warm, approachable and dedicated minister whose ministry was characterised by holiness, faith and discipleship.
The committee also noted that he demonstrated a profound spiritual intimacy with God throughout his ministry.
In an interview with the Pent Media Centre after the service, Pastor Amonoo advised upcoming ministers to remain closely connected to God and avoid relying solely on their own understanding.
He urged them to depend on the Word of God and prayer in the discharge of their ministerial responsibilities.
During his six-year ministry in Old Tafo, Pastor Amonoo ordained 13 elders, 13 deacons and 13 deaconesses. He also led 1,731 people to Christ, including 331 children.
