Hundreds of students in the PENSA-Asokwa Sector of The Church of Pentecost thronged the A. T. Nartey auditorium of the Bantama District in Kumasi to partake in the sector’s Pre-Tertiary and Tertiary Conference dubbed “Transformation Agents Conference” on Wednesday, March 6, 2019.
The conference which was held under the leadership of the Travelling Secretary for the Sector, Pastor Franklin Kumi-Lartey, was under the theme, “I Will Build My Church,” taken from Matthew 16:18.
Speakers included Apostle Frederick K. Andoh (Konongo Area Head), and Apostle Michael Collins Asiedu (Suame Area Head).
Apostle F. K. Andoh in his presentation on the topic, “I Will Build My Church,” stressed the importance of having the right knowledge of God in our bid to possess the nations.
Reading from Matthew 16:1-20, Matthew 28:17-20 and Genesis 9:1, he noted that there are reasons why Jesus said He would build His Church. One reason he cited is that, the church is the appointed medium through which knowledge of Christ would spread to the ends of the earth.
“The church is a place where humanity meets God, and from this meeting point, God expects that knowledge about Him would flood the whole world,” he said.
Apostle Andoh further explained that, knowing Jesus Christ is not only ‘head knowledge’ but also ‘experiential knowledge,’ saying that the revelation of Jesus as the Messiah is the foundation on which the church is to be built.
Apostle M. C Asiedu, on his part, spoke on the topic, “The Militant Church” with scripture readings from 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, Ephesians 6:10-18, and Matthew 16:18-19. He charged the students to live consciously as members of the Lord’s army.
He stressed that the church is not a place for entertainment but for spiritual warfare, noting that the church should always be on the offensive against the gates of Hell in order to set the captives free.
“The enemy tries to thwart the will of God from being manifested on earth, by corrupting humanity, damaging some believers through spiritual immaturity, trying to make the church build on faulty foundations and fuelling division, diversion, and disaffection in the church, and against these the church must rise,” he added.
Apostle Asiedu encouraged members of the church not to be “Chocolate Christians” who melt under the heat of pressures of life, but instead be made of steel in order for their faith to be refined by the heat.
He added that one hallmark of militants is discipline. He, therefore, encouraged that the church should be able to distinguish between the joy of the Lord and indiscipline in the church.
He concluded by encouraging the church to pray, sing, and give militantly for the purposes of advancing God’s kingdom.
Participants were taken through a moment of prayer for impartation of spiritual gifts and unction. A breakout and mentorship session was also held.
Present at the conference were Pastors Shadrach Addo Arnan (Asokwa Area Youth Pastor), Lawrence Oduro-Nyarko, Samuel K. Bram, Simon Peter Agyei and Elder Dr. Patrick Adonoo (PENSA International Coordinator).
