Be Available and Visible To Influence The Public Sphere – Apostle Dr. Debrah Urges Christians

Apostle Dr. Benjamin Debrah, the Sweden National Head of The Church of Pentecost, has encouraged Christians to stay connected to the world around them to glorify Christ in the public sphere.

During his address on the topic “Living Your Faith in the Public Sphere” on Day 3 of the 2024 Heads’ Fasting and Prayer Meeting being held at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC) near Gomoa Fetteh, Apostle Debrah emphasised that every Christian is a citizen of heaven, chosen by God, and has the authority of Christ to represent Him in every aspect of life.

He urged Christians to bridge the gap between Sunday worship and daily life, highlighting that there should be no distinction between how Christians live on Sundays and throughout the week.

“Most of a Christian’s time is spent in the workplace, so opportunities for others to encounter Christ often arise in these settings,” he stated, encouraging Christian leaders to disciple individuals to become influencers in the public sphere.

“When people come to know Jesus Christ, we must intentionally guide them to shape their worldview according to biblical values,” he affirmed. He pointed out that Jesus engaged with the world during His time on earth and made a difference through His actions. He, therefore, urged Christians to allow the presence of Christ within them to manifest in the public arena.

“Do not disconnect from the world around you. Be available and visible when people need help; this may open doors for you to impact their lives. Christians should consistently engage with society and value those involved in public service,” he emphasised.

Apostle Debrah explained that the public sphere encompasses all areas outside of one’s private life, including family interactions, politics, public service, and business.

“Your faith in Jesus Christ should guide how you work and live; as ambassadors of Christ, you cannot separate yourselves from these responsibilities. Timeliness, integrity, and quality should define our work ethic. Let your faith dictate your words and actions,” he advised.

He encouraged Christians to develop deep roots in Christ, cultivating a mindset that fears and desires to please God, which provides the boldness to represent Him well. He outlined spiritual disciplines such as prayer, fasting, waiting, and meditation on the Word of God as essential for building a strong Christian character.

“Studying the Word and living by it is crucial. It is not enough to simply profess your faith; if your actions do not reflect Christ, then your testimony is compromised,” Dr. Debrah stated.

He stressed the importance of respecting everyone, noting that being sensitive and courteous to individuals from various backgrounds makes them more receptive to the message of Christ.

He expressed concern about how some Christians conduct themselves during public events like funerals, birthday parties, and weddings.

“If an event is under your control, bring your godly influence to it. Playing music that is not godly at significant occasions undermines your testimony and increases the Church’s workload in evangelism,” he cautioned.

Additionally, he highlighted the importance of excellence in the workplace, stating that it draws attention and creates influence. He suggested using skills and intellect to showcase the testimony of a worthy life in Christ.

He noted that a heart filled with sincere love and compassion for others, combined with godly wisdom and a willingness to engage, are powerful tools for sharing the gospel in various settings.

“Make the most of every opportunity and share your testimonies. Our influence as Christians must be palpable to impact the public sphere,” Apostle Debrah reinforced.

Revitalize The Local Church - Apostle Alexander Kumi-Larbi To Church Leaders web

Revitalize The Local Church – Apostle Alexander Kumi-Larbi To Church Leaders

The immediate past General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Alexander Kumi-Larbi, has emphasized the urgent need to revitalize worship and fellowship within the local church.

He made this statement while speaking on Day 3 (morning session) of the 2024 Heads and Wives Meeting at the Pentecost Convention Centre.

Drawing from Psalm 122:1, Acts 2:42-47, Acts 4:32, and Ephesians 2:9, Apostle Kumi-Larbi, who spoke on “Revitalizing Worship and Fellowship in the Local Assembly,” outlined a comprehensive approach to restoring the vibrancy and purpose of church life.

The former chief scribe stressed that every church, regardless of its current state, needs revitalization to maintain its health and missional energy.

According to him, this process involves positioning the local assemblies of the church as equipping centers where members are thoroughly prepared to impact others.

He revealed that worship, as a lifestyle of daily service to God, should not be confined to a physical temple but should occur wherever believers gather.

Highlighting the importance of fellowship, he mentioned that it builds friendships, unity, and contributes to building God’s Kingdom on Earth.

To achieve this revitalization, Apostle Kumi-Larbi advocated for several key strategies.

He emphasized the importance of mentoring and raising leaders at the local level, ensuring that church leaders are intentional and strategic in their approach.

Regular church attendance and active participation in outreach events are also vital, as they help members become more invested in the church’s health and future.

He also highlighted the value of small groups in fostering deeper fellowship and generosity among church members. By embracing change, rediscovering the mission of the church, and remaining patient throughout every step of the journey, churches can experience transformative renewal.

Live For Eternal Rewards – Apostle Oboubi Charges Christians

Apostle Samuel Gyau Oboubi, the General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, has charged Christians, particularly members of the church to live their lives for eternal rewards.

He gave this charge while delivering a sermon on Wednesday, November 12, 2024, at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC) in Gomoah Fetteh during the November Heads and Wives meeting.

Delivering an exposition on one of the thematic areas under the 2025 theme, “Living for Eternal Rewards,” Apostle Oboubi explained that rewards are blessings or benefits one receives in recognition of good or excellent service, effort, or achievement.

He revealed that, according to scripture, God rewards everything people do, no matter how insignificant they may perceive it.

According to him, there are two kinds of rewards from scripture: one received on earth and another received in the afterlife.

The General Secretary indicated that while earthly rewards are material and can be lost or taken away, eternal rewards are heavenly rewards believers will receive from God due to their faithful work on earth.

He mentioned the promises concerning rewards, such as endurance through pressures in ministry, generous giving, bearing insults, being excluded for the name of Christ, and rendering excellent service to employers.

On rewards, he mentioned the crown of life, the crown of righteousness, the crown of glory, and the crown of rejoicing as the rewards received by those who live for eternal rewards.

To live for eternal rewards, one must obey God’s will, even when it feels risky or uncomfortable, as exemplified by Apostle Paul in Acts 16:21.

This involves avoiding sin and maintaining a pure conscience before God and men, as well as living a life of integrity where actions align with words.

Other characteristics of a person who lives for eternal rewards include faithfulness to God, one’s holy calling, and supporting institutions.

Living selflessly and sacrificially, putting God’s plans above personal desires, is also essential.

Ultimately, a life of service to others, reflecting God’s love and will, is key to honouring Him and seeking eternal rewards.

Chairman Commends 19 Heads Retiring Next Year

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has commended the ministers of the Church for their unwavering dedication to their congregations and their earnest work in the Lord’s vineyard.

In his welcome address to officially open the 2024 Heads’ Fasting and Prayer Meeting, being held at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC) on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, Apostle Nyamekye reminded the attendees that every labour for God will be rewarded. He announced that several ministers would be retiring from active ministry in 2025.

During the meeting, he introduced the heads who would be retiring, receiving a standing ovation in appreciation of their contributions to the Lord and service to the church. In total, nineteen heads will be retiring, comprising 16 apostles, 2 prophets, and 1 evangelist.

Apostle Eric Nyamekye also acknowledged the presence of representatives from two sister churches from other nations: The Church of Pentecost – Togo and Faith Pentecostal Church of Benin.

2025 Theme: See Your Professional Work As Full-Time Ministry

The 2025 theme of The Church of Pentecost aims to empower all Christians to view their professional work and workplaces as their full-time ministry.

This theme was unveiled by Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at the Pentecost Convention Centre, Gomoah.

In his explanation of the theme, “Unleashed to Live a Life Worthy of Your Calling,” Apostle Nyamekye highlighted the importance of overcoming the dilemma many Christians face when feeling compelled to leave their professional jobs to enter full-time church ministry.

He stressed that Christians should approach their professional work with the same dedication and spiritual commitment as they would in full-time church service.

The theme, rooted in Ephesians 4:1, 1 Thessalonians 4:7, and Galatians 1:24, challenges the belief that kingdom work is confined to church activities. Instead, it encourages Christians to recognize their roles in various institutions and industries as opportunities to extend God’s blessings to others.

“The unleashed servants are not stolen from the workplace. They are sent to the workplace,” Apostle Nyamekye stated.

He urged believers to view their daily activities, including work, as part of their spiritual act of worship. “In this era of being unleashed, we need to take our everyday, ordinary life—our sleeping, eating, drinking, work, and all that we do—and place them before God as offerings,” he said.

Apostle Nyamekye underscored that the kingdom is intricately connected with the real world and its diverse professions. “Kingdom carriers are market folks, woodworkers, bricklayers, plumbers, shopkeepers, lawyers, nurses, doctors, designers, parents, children, singles, teachers, farmers, students, pupils, the elderly, the unemployed, and more,” he emphasized.

The 2025 theme calls on Christians to regard their professional and daily lives as essential parts of their ministry, ensuring that God’s grace and blessings flow through them to impact humanity positively.

The Mission of the Church is Achievable pn

The Mission of the Church is Achievable

The founder of Calvary Worship Centre in Vancouver, Canada, Rev. Dr Samuel Owusu has said the mission of the Church to make all nations disciples of Christ is achievable in our time.

Speaking at the 2024 heads’ fasting prayer meeting underway at the Pentecost Convention Centre, Gomoa Fetteh, Rev. Dr Owusu said though it looks like the mission is a huge task because the harvest remains great and the labourers are few, the mission is possible and achievable.

Preaching on the theme ‘Mission on Reverse’, he revealed that the Church in Africa is at work to finish the unfinished task. He stated that there are more Christians in Africa than any continent in the world, and Africans are everywhere making it a reliable force for the gospel to spread.

‘It is our turn to send the gospel to the rest of the world just as the early missionaries came with the world. We dare not fail in this possible mission’, he charged.

He called for a new mind-set in doing missions to reach everyone with the word of God.

‘We need new strategies because God is taking us to places we have never been before’, he reiterated.

Narrating the story of the Church, he touched on the mandate, mistakes and methods that needs to be noted to make the right impact.

He said Matthew 28:18–20 is a call of God to the Church to disciple nations not a particular people or nation.

Referencing Mark 11:17, Dr Owusu said ‘until the Church begins to reflect the culture of the people they minister to, we are not doing missions’.

He noted that the Church has the people, the power and the resources to prosecute a successful mission.

‘Sometimes we leave the mission and complain about money but what we need is the power because Peter and the apostles had no silver and gold but they could turn the world upside down’, he reminded the heads.

Dr Owusu added that ‘The primary purpose of the Holy Ghost is to soak ourselves in power to do missions. That which was birthed in Pentecost at the upper room can only be maintained by Pentecost in the upper room’.

Touching on the mistakes of the Church, the contemporary Church has been repeating the mistakes of the early church in Acts 11:19 where the disciples spread to other parts of the world but preached only to fellow Jews. He lamented that when they were ready to preach to other nations, they still wanted other nations to be like them (Acts 15) until God has to instigate a change of mind in Peter.

He said the Church must be prepared to encounter new things, new territories and new people.

‘We are not just called to be chaplains over our own people but to be missionaries to others’, he emphasised.

‘In the Good Samaritan story, Jesus teaches us that true biblical love is to love people who are not like us. Loving a fellow Ghanaian is a natural affinity’, he mentioned.

He encouraged the gathering to be passionate about others and avoid stereotyping, appreciate power dynamics of servant leadership, work on church programming and also keep the preaching simple and sweet.

He reminded the heads that when Chairman Nyamekye talks of new territories it is not about new territories with Ghanaians or Africa but territories of the nations. Rev. Dr Owusu concluded that the method for the Church is to preach Christ where He has not been named (Romans 15:20–21).

God Is Here web

God Is Here – Apostle Nyamekye Reveals

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has urged Christians to be mindful of God’s presence wherever they are and to always be available for His use.

In a brief exhortation taken from Genesis 28:16-17 on the first day of the 2024 Heads’ Fasting and Prayer Meeting at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC) in Gomoa Fetteh on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, Apostle Nyamekye highlighted that Jacob recognised his location as the very presence of God. Jacob, who thought he was on the run, realised during his struggles that God was with him in that very place.

Apostle Nyamekye explained, “Jacob’s words, ‘God is in this place,’ or ‘God is here,’ emphasise that God is where believers find themselves.”

He noted that Jacob identified the gate of heaven as the place where God is and encouraged the gathering to enter through this gate.

‘So far as I am concerned, God is here. In this very place I stand. Where is your God?’ he asked the gathering, adding, ‘This is the gate of heaven. When you get to the gate of heaven, don’t hesitate to enter.’

The Chairman observed that believers serve a boundless God who cannot be contained in one place. He, therefore, admonished the heads to open up for His infilling,’ saying, ‘The owner and builder of The Church of Pentecost is here. You better know and adjust. For out of the fullness of His grace, we have all obtained grace. If you open up, He will fill your vessel.’

Apostle Nyamekye also stated: ‘Your fullness does not depend on God’s ability to pour but on your ability and willingness to receive.’

He called on the gathering to yield to God, knowing they are in His very presence.

‘If God is here, angels cannot stay in heaven or hang anywhere else; they are here. We have come to the company of innumerable angels, the New Jerusalem. This is the gate of heaven, enter,’ he concluded with a passionate charge.

Ministers’ Wives Taken Through Courtesy Lessons

Mrs Rebecca Asabil, the wife of Apostle Joseph Asabil (retd), has underscored the importance of courtesy and public etiquette as essential aspects of Christian living.

She made the call when delivering a message titled, ‘Courtesy and Public Etiquette,’ at the last Greater Accra Ministers’ Wives meeting on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at the Dr Thomas Wyatt Memorial Temple, Accra Newtown.

Mrs Asabil focused on the need for believers, especially ministers’ wives, to embody the royal and priestly splendor bestowed upon them by God through their conduct in public, while referring to 1 Chronicles 29:25.

According to her, this can be done by the way they carry themselves in public.

She encouraged them to safeguard this divine gift by behaving with dignity and respecting others.

Explaining the concept of etiquette, Mrs Asabil defined it as ‘anything society has accepted that you need to live with.

’‘The way you carry yourself as a minister’s wife is very important in the sight of your people,’ she stressed, adding that etiquette involves adopting acceptable social norms for harmonious coexistence.

The retired minister’s wife shared practical guidelines for public etiquette, cautioning against behaviours that could attract unwanted attention or cause discomfort in public.

Citing some examples, she advised them to take modest portions at buffet tables, avoid placing personal items like bags on tables in hotels, and keep conversations at an appropriate volume on public transportation.

She concluded by urging attendees to uplift one another by celebrating others achievements.

‘A courteous lady is someone who cherishes people; recognise the achievements of others with sincere and warm praise,’ Mrs Asabil concluded.
