God Is Interested In Chieftaincy And Tradition – Apostle Oboubi Reveals

The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Oboubi, has revealed that God has a genuine interest in the chieftaincy institution and tradition.

Apostle Oboubi said this during the Royals Day Service organised by the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC)-Atomic, in Accra on Sunday, June 9, 2024.

Speaking on the topic, ‘Royals unleashed to transform the spheres’ the General Secretary indicated that God is interested in every aspect of the lives of his children, including chieftaincy and that God expects all kings, queens and traditional rulers to be present in the New Jerusalem with their splendor (Revelation 21).

Apostle Oboubi emphasised that Christians as representatives of God on earth must be interested in everything that God is interested in, including kingship and traditional rulership.

He explained that children of God are called to transform their world, irrespective of their status and standing in society. He, therefore, called on all children of God who are kings, queens and royals to transform their areas of authority, stressing that they have a duty to cause positive change in their spheres, which is their areas of jurisdiction.

According to the General Secretary, traditional leadership is not just about carrying titles, but it involves causing positive change. Adding that it is also not just about amassing wealth but making impact.

Painting a picture of God’s interest in traditional rulership and leadership in general, the chief scribe of The Church of Pentecost explained that as captured in Deuteronomy 17:16-20, when God took the Israelites out of Egypt and was leading them to Canaan, he knew they would demand a king one day and being all-knowing, God told them 400 years ahead how their kings should behave and expect of them.

Apostle Oboubi pointed out that three things God does not expect royals to do are that they should not be full of pride and overly display power, not to have so much desire for women and not wrongly desire and lust for money, because it will lead them to engage in extreme acts.

He, however, mentioned that God expects royals and leaders to be people of the word of God, keep the Bible and read it every day.

Torgbui Adzonugaga Ameya Fiti, Paramount Chief and President of the Aflao Traditional Council, was present as the Guest of Honour, as well as other divisional and sun-chiefs from various traditional areas in Ghana.

Also present at the service were Apostle Dr B. G. Kumi-Woode (Director of Religious Affairs, Ghana Armed Forces), Apostle John Obeng Kesse (Suame Area Head and his wife), Apostle William Boakye Agyarko (Haatso Area Head) and Apostle Antony Mensah, the Resident Minister.

Apostle Dr Koranteng Sensitises School Proprietors On Child Health & Well-Being

The Director of the Pentecost Hospital-Madina, Apostle Dr Edward Arkoh Koranteng, has sensitised proprietors of Christian private schools on the need to ensure child health and well-being in their schools.

According to Dr Korangteng, proprietors and school managers are part of God’s plan in nurturing great destinies (children) for God’s glory. He disclosed that since every child’s glorious future and destiny revolves around sound health and well-being, there is the need for proprietors to place premium on it, saying, ‘Proprietors need to ensure that every child in their schools is fit holistically in terms of their social, mental and physical well-being.’

Apostle Dr Koranteng was speaking at the maiden Conference for Proprietors of Christian Private Schools organised by the Children’s Ministry of The Church of Pentecost, in collaboration with the church’s Schools Outreach Ministry (SOM) at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh, on Tuesday, June 11, 2024.

In promoting quality health care in schools, he advised participants to request the medical records of the children they admit into their schools to contextualise the children’s individual needs. Such reports, he said, would help teachers to carefully observe children to track their developmental growth.

He also suggested that for proprietors to have a fair idea of the child’s social growth, they need to interact with the parents or guardians of the children occasionally.

‘Constant observation of the children is also needed so the school workers and proprietors must develop eagle eyes towards the children,’ he advised.

Another aspect of child health and well-being that Apostle Dr Koranteng touched on is laying a good foundation of good nutrition in schools. With regard to this, he urged proprietors to make sure that they go above just profit-making and provide nutritious meals to the children. He also asked them to make it a policy to screen the cooks and food handlers periodically to avoid disease outbreaks. He also advised them to put in place a committee to ensure the nutritional needs of the kids are met.

Apostle Dr Koranteng further admonished proprietors to ensure that physical activities take place in the schools to cater for the physical well-being of the children in their care. This, he cautioned, should be under strict supervision to prevent injury.

Touching on mental health, he asked proprietors to make sure that children have a sound mind to learn, are not bullied or threatened in any way.

Apostle Dr. Koranteng urged school owners to make it a point that adequate handwashing facilities are supplied in their schools whilst taking the children through health education.

People Are Important In Achieving Goals – Pastor Prof. Otoo Ellis

The Children’s Ministry Director of The Church of Pentecost, Pastor Prof. William Otoo Ellis, has indicated that people are very important to the achievement of one’s goals and aspirations in life.

During a word of exhortation on, ‘Achieving your goals – the need for people’ on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh, during the maiden edition of the Conference for Proprietors of Christian Private Schools, the former Vice Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) highlighted several things people need to help them achieve their goals in life.

This, he said, includes one’s ability, courage, attempting (efforts to achieve and complete something), earnestness, ambition and people. He noted that amongst all the requirements, the most important is people.

Pastor Prof. Ellis explained that people are valuable resources in wealth creation, achieving one’s goal and character building.

Touching on how people contribute to the achievement of a person’s goal, the Children’s Director used the sale of Joseph into slavery as captured in Genesis 37 to reveal that encounters with people teaches resilience, just like joseph learned from the merchants who bought him.

Again, he said, just as Joseph learned management, leadership and a host of important characters when he was serving in Potiphar’s house, several encounters with people will equip one with such traits to achieve their goals.

He, however, called on the participants to note that their relatives, close friends or staff can disappoint them just like Joseph’s brothers sold him out into slavery, but they should never give up because it is for a good course, saying, ‘Joseph needed to be sold by his siblings to achieve his dream. If he had not been sold, he would not have gotten to Pharaoh’s palace.’

Pastor Prof. William Otoo Ellis asked the participants to keep it in mind that if they decide to stand for God and defend His principles, they will face challenges.

The Other Sheep Ministry Braces Up For Operation

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of The Other Sheep Ministry (TOSM) of The Church of Pentecost has held its maiden meeting in Accra to officially begin its work.

The meeting, which took place on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, was to afford the NEC members the opportunity to fraternise and to plan the ministry’s work and operational modalities in line with the church’s Vision 2028.

The Chairman of the NEC, Apostle Dr Dieudonne Komla Nuekpe, who is also an Executive Council Member of the Church, in his welcome address said the new ministry is one of the ministry interventions under Vision 2028.

He called on the NEC to begin work immediately, saying, “You have the Executive Council’s backing and support.”

In his exhortation titled, “A people of God unleashed to minister to the Other Sheep,” with scriptural references from John 10:16 and Amos 6:1-6, Apostle Dr D. K. Nuekpe, said: “There is the need to seek the other sheep or adherents of other religions with zeal, passion and care,” pointing to the fact that some of them trace their route to the Ishmaelites who are also the descendants of Abraham.

He enumerated among other reasons that adherents of other religions are on the increase. This, he said, means that Christians have a great task to demonstrate the love of Christ and share the truth of the gospel with them in the power of the Holy Spirit.

The NEC Chairman encouraged the team and all believers to pray for people of the other religions and learn a lot about them without fear.

“There was no need to dread such target groups; they are our brothers and sisters who need the love and blessings bestowed on as by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ,” he said.

Apostle Dr Nuekpe was confident that if this august task was approached with a Pentecostal method of prayer, proper planning and total reliance on God, victory will be the outcome.

The leadership of the ministry would collaborate with Ministry Directors and meet with Regional Coordinating Committee Coordinators, Area Heads, ministers and wives, officers and members of the church to create massive awareness and education about the ministry.

The slogan of the ministry was unveiled as: “The Other Sheep Ministry: One Flock, One Shepherd.”

The National Coordinator, Pastor Abraham Addae Agyemang, called for massive support from all stakeholders as the ministry joins the other ministries to possess the nations for Christ.

Present at the meeting was Deaconess Philomina Mireku, Women Ministry Director.

It’s Not Too Late To Build Christian Culture In Our Schools- Apostle Prof. Peter Ohene Kyei (Rtd.) web

It’s Not Too Late To Build Christian Culture In Our Schools- Apostle Prof. Peter Ohene Kyei (Rtd.)

A former Rector of the Pentecost University, Apostle Prof. Peter Ohene Kyei and retired minister of The Church of Pentecost, has indicated that it is not too late to build the Christian culture in schools to build a morally upright society.

He said this on Monday, June 10, 2024, when speaking on the topic: ‘Creating a lasting Christian culture in schools – Reviving Christian Values and Principles,’ at the Conference for Proprietors of Christian Private Schools at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh.

Apostle Prof. Kyei (Rtd.) explained that the church plays a pivotal role in the development of structures and curriculum that will contribute to the moral upbringing of students in schools.

He emphasised that the school is the second home for students, therefore, teachers play a major role in the formation of the moral character of children. He stressed the need for school proprietors, heads of schools and all other staff to pray, think and strategise to push the Christian culture into schools to impact the lives of children.

The former rector who has over 40 years’ experience in administration and higher education explained that if schools are fully equipped with the Christian Culture, it will transform students into responsible and morally upright adults, who will have positive impact on others, their workplaces, nations and everywhere they find themselves. This, he said, can lead to children converting their parents and other relatives who are unbelievers.

According to Apostle Prof. Ohene Kyei, there is a growing appetite for corruption in every facet of society, hence there is a need to carefully look at education and how it impacts children’s character.

He noted that a school is not categorised as a Christian school because it was built by a Christian or because of its name. Rather, it is the practices and activities which take place there that determine so.

The former lecturer therefore called on proprietors to set moral policies for their schools and work hard with teachers and others to execute them.

He advised them to among other things organise prayer festivals, crusades and other Christian activities on campus to establish and maintain the Christian culture in schools and affect the moral lives of the students.

Don’t Limit Christian Values To Church Auditorium – Rev. Dr Opuni-Frimpong web

Don’t Limit Christian Values To Church Auditorium – Rev. Dr Opuni-Frimpong

A Senior Lecturer at the Department of Religious Studies of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Rev. Dr Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, has stressed the need for Christians to extend their values beyond church auditoriums.

Rev. Dr Opuni-Frimpong made this call during the maiden edition of the Conference for Proprietors of Christian Private Schools on Monday, June 10, 2024, at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoah Fetteh.

Speaking on the topic, ‘The School As A Mission Field And A Mission Agent,’ the former General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana pointed out that Christian values are very vital to the wholistic development of people and the country at large.

He explained that the school is best place to instill such positive Christian values and principles since students spend more time in the school, and that teachers play a key role in developing the character and behaviour of students.

Throwing light on the important role teachers play in the school as a mission field, Rev. Dr Opuni Frimpong stated: The role of teachers extends far beyond traditional academic instruction. It should include the cultivation of ethical behaviour, personal development, mentoring, social transformation, accountability and good governance among the youth and society.’

Addressing the issue of exchange of values for academic successes in Ghanaian schools, Rev. Dr Opuni-Frimpong said: ‘Our society today is bedeviled with a myriad of social problems. Many have had cause to complain about the unruly behaviour of some youth including indiscipline, destructive behaviour, violence, extremism, corruption, etc.’

He added: ‘The emphasis today in society and educational system is on ability to pass all your examinations, high grades, achievements in science, technology, engineering, popularity in media, etc., but not on character.’

The Presbyterian minister suggested that to change this narrative there is a need for proprietors and heads of schools to implement discipleship training, regular church services, regular prayer and fasting meetings, baptisms, confirmation, communion, availability and distribution of Bibles, Hymn Books, tracts, Christian literature, devotional materials, learning and singing of hymns and counseling, amongst others, in their schools.

The Church Of Pentecost Never Turned Her Back On Me web

“The Church Of Pentecost Never Turned Her Back On Me” – A Scholarship Beneficiary Shares

I am Seth Kwame Baidoo from Dixcove in the Western Region of Ghana. I am the fourth of my parent’s six children.

I completed Senior High School in 2017 at Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) by the grace of God, despite my parents separating when I was in my first year, and my mother suffering an accident that resulted in a fractured waist bone.

Due to the financial challenges my family faced, a teacher named Mr. Ghartey at GSTS paid the rest of my school fees, with additional support from my friend, Patrick Tabiri Ameyaw.

After school, I moved to Kumasi to hawk pure water on the streets of Adum Kumasi. Life became extremely difficult, but I still had my education in mind. I returned home to seek help to further my education but found none.

One day, while helping my mother cook, the then Dixcove District Minister, Pastor Isaac Ayiku Quarshie, paid us a visit. During our interaction he invited me to fellowship with The Church of Pentecost. I quickly obliged and shared my educational aspirations with him. He introduced me to the Pentecost Educational Scholarship Scheme (PESS) funded by The Church of Pentecost Headquarters. Unfortunately, he was transferred after a few months, even before the scholarship process could go through.

When Pastor Christian Asiedu Budu took over as the District Minister, he continued where Pastor Ayiku left off, and through him, my scholarship was granted in 2019. I started school at Pentecost University as a theology student, making me the only one out of six siblings to pursue higher education.

In 2020, the then Area Secretary, Pastor Charles Arthur, advised me to change my program to a more career-oriented one to better position me in the job market after school. Taking his advice, I decided to study nursing, although I still aspire to lecture someday.

Today, I am in my final year as a nursing student at Pentecost University. The Church has never turned her back on me from 2019 to 2024. I can not thank God and the Church enough for who I am today.

May the Good Lord continue to bless and uplift The Church of Pentecost

Proprietors, Teachers Key To Possessing The Nations Agenda – Prof. Agyapong-Kodua

The Vice-Chancellor of the Pentecost University (PU), Apostle Prof. Kwabena Agyapong-Kodua, has called on teachers to strategically position themselves to play a key role in the ‘Possessing the Nations’ agenda to positively impact young children.

Ministering at the maiden edition of ‘Conference for Proprietors of Christian Private Schools’ at the Pentecost Convention Centre, Gomoa Fetteh, on Monday, June 10, 2024, Apostle Prof. Agyapong-Kodua explained that God has placed a responsibility on proprietors and teachers to be guardians of His will in their schools.

While delivering a message on the topic, ‘Christian School Leaders, Carved for the Occasion,’ the PU Vice-Chancellor explained that one does not need to be ordained as an Apostle, Pastor or Bishop, before they can perform the task of transforming their sphere with Kingdom values and principles.

He explained that in the mind of God there are many pastors, bishops, and apostles without clericals, which includes proprietors, heads of schools, teachers and all school staffs.

According to him, God’s ultimate agenda as captured in the Book of Revelations 11:15, is to reclaim the kingdoms of the world unto Himself.

Adding that, God plans to do this through His children, hence everything they do must be geared towards that agenda. He added that God’s way of reclaiming the kingdoms unto Himself is to take away all spheres of influence, highlighting that education is one of such greatest spheres of influence, and so proprietors and teachers have a very key role in the possessing the nations agenda since they are able to chart the lives of their students into the right path.

Another thing the Vice-Chancellor of the University A+ touched on is that there is a strong agenda and fight against the cause of God which includes the eradication of God and things of God from the schools.

However, he said, God is expecting that proprietors and school managers will make it a point to defend the name of God and restore all activities relating to the values and principles of the Kingdom of God to contribute to the moral upbringing of students.

Apostle Prof. Agyapong-Kodua called on Christians in the field of education to note that God is looking for people who are knowledgeable and filled with the Holy Spirit to transform their world with His values and principles.

Maiden Conference For Proprietors Of Christian Private Schools Underway At PCC

About 200 school proprietors, managers and teachers, drawn from various private schools in Ghana are meeting at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh, near Kasoa in the Central Region for the maiden Conference for Proprietors of Christian Private Schools.

The 3-day conference, organised by the Children’s Ministry of The Church of Pentecost, in collaboration the church’s Schools Outreach Ministry (SOM), under the theme: “Unleashing the Christian School Leader to Raise Godly Children,” began on Sunday and will end on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.

Welcoming the participants to the conference during the opening ceremony on Monday, June 10, 2024, the Director of the Children’s Ministry of The Church of Pentecost and former Vice Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Pastor Prof. William Otoo Ellis, commended the participants for taking part in the all-important conference.

He urged them to drink from the deep brook of experience in nurturing children as the church develops a framework for bringing godliness back to Ghanaian school premises.

“As a ministry responsible for children in The Church of Pentecost, we continue to seek partnerships with various stakeholders in child development to achieve our corporate vision of raising godly children,” he said.

He added: “As a church and a ministry, we believe that our schools and more especially Christian private schools have been called by God to raise godly children.”

The former KNUST Vice Chancellor noted that in today’s world within which children are being raised is gradually becoming increasingly challenging as far as godliness and morality is concerned.

According to him, homes and family systems which hitherto were the first point of call for raising morally upright children is also gradually disintegrating.

“Unfavourable economic conditions coupled with humanity’s quest to build a godless society, continue to exert pressure on families and parents’ ability to raise godly children,” he bemoaned, adding, “The educational system which served as one of the most effective pivots, providing support and augmentation to the family system in terms of raising godly and morally upright children is also increasingly being compromised.”

Chairman Dedicates PENSA KNUST Auditorium

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, on Sunday, June 9, 2024, dedicated an ultra-modern church auditorium for the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) branch of Pentecost Students and Associates (PENSA).

The dedication ceremony was attended by various distinguished personalities, notable among them were Prof. Mrs. Rita Akosua Dickson (Vice Chancellor, KNUST), Mr. Andrews Kwasi Boateng (Registrar, KNUST), Rev. Dr. J. W. Acheampong (Protestant Chaplain, KNUST), Apostle Dr. Amos Jimmy Markin (Evangelism Director, The CoP); Prophet David Kankam Beditor (Area Head, Obuasi), Apostle Ebenezer Hagan (Youth Director, The CoP); Apostle Peter Kofi Dzemekey (Area Head, Asokwa); Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi (Area Head, Ashaiman), Apostle Samuel Osei Asante (Area Head, Kaneshie) and Apostle John Obeng Kesse (Area Head, Suame).

Others were Prophet Samuel Tetteh Doku (Area head, New Tafo), Apostle Victor Asamoah (Area Head, Bompata), Apostle Prof. Joseph I. T. Buertey (Resident Minister, PIWC Asokwa/PENSA KNUST Patron), Apostle Prof. Kwabena Agyapong-Kodua (Vice Chancellor, Pentecost University), Apostle Kingsley Addai (Resident Minister, PIWC Accra), Elder Prof. Eric Appau Asante (Deputy Youth Director) and Pastor Ebo Quaye (KNUST Campus Pastor).

Also present was the wife of the Chairman, Mrs Mary Nyamekye, traditional leaders, among others.

In a sermon titled, “Be Unleashed With Fragrance To Transform Your Spheres,” Apostle Peter Kofi Dzemekey, Asokwa Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, encouraged believers to let their actions and presence bring positive change and memories to their environments.

Drawing an analogy between fragrance and its stress-relieving properties, Apostle Dzemekey explained how a pleasing aroma can evoke good memories and create a calming atmosphere.

He referenced John 12:1-11, highlighting the story of Mary anointing Jesus with expensive perfume. “Mary’s act of anointing Jesus with her costly perfume was a profound display of remorse and devotion. The fragrance filled the entire house, symbolizing how our actions can permeate and transform our surroundings,” he said.

Apostle Dzemekey urged the congregation to seize the moment and be proactive in their endeavours.

“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it. This is your time,” he emphasized, encouraging everyone to contribute meaningfully to their communities and personal projects.

He assured those who invested in the church building that their contributions are not in vain but investments in their future.

“Mary, once a sinner, used her precious perfume to honour Jesus, and in return, Jesus declared her sins forgiven,” Apostle Dzemekey explained.

He pointed out that Mary’s gesture was not just an act of generosity but a significant indication of her repentance and faith, which brought about her forgiveness.

Apostle Dzemekey called on believers to unleash their own “fragrance” – their unique gifts and good works – to transform their spheres of influence.

“Just as Mary’s perfume filled the house, let your positive influence and good deeds fill your surroundings, bringing transformation and the presence of Christ wherever you go,” he concluded.

BRIEF HISTORY OF PENSA KNUST AUDITORIUM

In the 1980’s PENSA-KNUST used to have its mid-week services, dubbed Miracle Movement, at the Independence Hall Chapel. Sunday services were held at the Africa Hall Chapel. In the early 1990’s, however, all the meetings were held at Africa Hall. Miracle Movement services were held at the Africa Hall Chapel while Sunday services were now held at the Africa Hall Dining Hall. As the group grew, however, these two meeting places could no longer accommodate the growing numbers. In the latter part of the 1990s, there started to be an overflow of crowds during special programmes and the normal Sunday morning and mid-week services. In 2004, PENSA-KNUST moved the venue of its midweek services to the Queens Hall dining hall which helped manage the group’s growing number.

THE IDEA OF A JOINT PROJECT

In 2004 when David Nyansah Hayfron (now Apostle Dr) was called into full-time ministry from KNUST-PENSA and stationed at the then Ayeduase Worship Centre, he mooted the idea for a joint building project between PENSA-KNUST and Ayeduase Worship Centre.

THE 5,500-SEATER CHURCH BUILDING

The magnificent edifice includes a 3500-capacity auditorium for PENSA-KNUST, 200-seater French and International Students Assembly Hall/Conference Room, Protocol/Information Students Executive Interacting Chamber, 20-seater Reading Room, LCC Conference Hall, Resident Campus Pastor’s Office, and an Exhibition Hall/Recording Studio for audio-visual works.

It also contains PENSA-KNUST Departments’ Common Hall/Utility Office; 1 Guest Room; Disability Ramp, 2000-capacity auditorium for Ayeduase Central Assembly, Ayeduase District Pastor’s Office; Conference Hall, Ayeduase District Clerk’s Office; A 500-capacity children’s auditorium at the basement, baptistery, and Sound Control/Media Room and Storage Areas, among others.
