The newly created Twifo Praso Area of The Church of Pentecost has been inaugurated. The service, which was officiated by Apostle Samuel Yaw Antwi (Cape Coast Area Head and Chairman of the Central Regional Coordinating Committee), also coincided with the welcome service for the first Area Head, Pastor David Nii Addo-Pappoe, and his family.

The programme took place at Twifo Praso Asikafo Assembly Auditorium on Sunday, November 29, 2020.

The Twifo Praso Area, which was carved out of the Assin Foso and Dunkwa Areas, is made up of 11 districts with Twifo Praso as the administrative seat.

Those elected to serve on the Area Executive Committee are Pastor Francis Kwashie Dodgey (Area Secretary), Elder Seth Addo Kumi (Area Deacon), Pastor Vincent Ephraim Amegah, Pastor Matthew Mpaba, Elder Paul Harrison Indome, and Elder Joseph Smiles Adu, as Executive Members.

Preaching the sermon, Apostle Samuel Yaw Antwi, who is an Executive Council Member of the church, took his Bible text from Joshua 13:1 and based his message on the theme, “More Land To Be Occupied.” He encouraged the members to avoid complacency and work tirelessly until they get to where God wants them to be.

He called on officers of the church to nurture, lead, and equip the members into maturity so that the church becomes a glorious one ready to possess the nations.

Apostle Antwi praised the past ministers of Twifo Praso District, especially the late Pastor J. K. Appiah, whose tireless effort has helped the district to grow tremendously to the extent of becoming an Area seat.

“You have achieved a lot, but there is still much to be achieved. In order to get to a higher level, you have to be prayerful, cultivate the habit of endurance, preach the gospel as you have never done before, and raise and disciple Christians who will in turn disciple others,” Apostle Antwi asserted.

In his response, the Area Head, Pastor David Nii Addo-Pappoe, expressed his appreciation to God for His care and protection. He also thanked the leadership of the church and the members for their support. He called on all and sundry to work wholeheartedly to help move the new Area forward.

Pastor David Nii Addo-Pappoe was called into the full-time ministry of the church in 2002. He has since served in Nyankomase Ahenkro, Sege-Ada, Sefwi Ahibenso, and Techiman Gyarko districts. He is married to Mrs. Faustina Addo-Pappoe.

Present at the ceremony were Apostle S. R. Odum (retired), the pastorate in the Area and their wives and delegates from Techiman and Dunkwa Areas, among others.

The Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC-Downtown Ofaakor) has begun a 3-day prayer conference dubbed “Eagles Conference” under the theme, “Revive Us Oh Lord,” based on Habakkuk 3:1-2.

Speaking on Day-2 of the conference, the Resident Minister, Pastor Isaac Annor, noted that “the Christian journey is not a smooth road, or one made of roses, however, it is full of ups and downs, mountains and valleys. It is, therefore, expedient that the believer arms himself and prepares meticulously, constantly refueling himself for the journey ahead.”

Reading from Isaiah 40:29-30, Pastor Annor revealed that “God Himself knows that even young men can grow weary and tired at a point. So our zeal for God can grow cold, however, just as the eagle waits and renews its strength, the believer must also wait on the Lord for a revival, a refilling, and a rekindling of their faith, in order to soar like eagles in their Christian journey.”

Drawing lessons from the prayer of the prophet Habakkuk, he explained that the monarchical line of Israel was truncated due to the consistent sinful acts of the Israelites. He indicated that God decided to punish the Israelites by allowing the Babylonians to capture them and keep them in bondage.

“During the time of Habakkuk, the people of Israel were living in sin and so the Kingdom of Israel fell apart and the nation went into exile. God used a sinful nation, Babylon, to punish Israel. When Israel repented and returned to Him, God then delivered Israel from exile and punished Babylon,” he reiterated.

“It is worthy to note that Israel was a just and righteous nation, however, without a revival, they forgot about the God who brought them out of Egypt. Therefore, Habakkuk prayed for a revival, and when Israel repented and was revived, God came to their aid, delivered them, and glorified them once again,” he added.

He, therefore, posited that the glory of the people of God can only be sustained if they consistently revive themselves in the Lord. “As a church, when our zeal faints, we should remember the prayer of Habakkuk, we should seek revival, and God will restore His glory into His Church.”

Pastor Annor asserted that “while we yearn for revival, we should, however, be mindful of things that quench our zeal and keep away from them. Zeal killers may include worldly concerns, laziness in our devotional life, complacency, modernization, and crises.”

He made a passionate appeal to the church to remember the great miracles that happened in the lives of the early believers. He called on the members to pray to God to revive His church and do again the great deeds he did in the lives of the people of old.

“We have all heard of the great signs and wonders God did in the days of old. Nowadays, these miracles sound like stories and fairy tales. Let us, therefore, pray and plead with the Lord to do in our time the great things He did in the days of old,” he stressed.

The ongoing conference, which began on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, will end on Friday, December 4, 2020.

The Assin Nyankomase District of The Church of Pentecost has constructed a Children’s Welfare Centre for the Nyankomase Community-Based Health Planning and Service (CHPS) compound.

The project, which was built at the total cost of GH¢3,890.00, was donated as part of the Nyankomase District’s 10^th Anniversary celebration.

The dedication ceremony, which took place on Friday, November 20, 2020, brought together the chiefs and elders of the Nyankomase Traditional Council, officials from the Assin Central Municipal Health Directorate, as well as ministers and members of the church.

In an address, the Assin Nyankomase District Minister, Pastor Brown Boachie-Yiadom, noted that The Church of Pentecost does not only exist to preach the gospel but also seeks for the socio-economic welfare of the communities in which it operates.

He mentioned some of the social interventions the church has embarked on in the country in the areas of health, education, water, and sanitation as part of its corporate social responsibility. He further outlined the key role the church played and continues to play in the nation’s fight against the novel Corona Virus pandemic.

Also speaking at the event, the Chairman for the Anniversary Planning Committee, Elder Francis Mensah, said that the committee settled on the project because of the poor state of the old structure.

He said: “The old facility that was used for weighing and attending to children was not fit for its purpose. It was so open to public view, and the floor, which was not cemented, was very dusty. The need to give the place a facelift necessitated the choice of the project.”

Nana Kwaku Apotai IV, the Omanhene of the Nyankomase Traditional Council, in responding to the kind gesture of the church said: “The Church of Pentecost, since its inception in the Nyankomase Community, has always been first in all good ventures.”

He promised that in future expansion works, the Children’s Block of the clinic would be named after the Church. He encouraged other churches and religious groups in the community to emulate the shining example of The Church of Pentecost.
