Attitude Is Everything! – Apostle Eric Nyamekye

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has advised ministers and wives of the Church to make conscious effort to develop a positive attitude as it has a great bearing on the impact of their ministry.

“Your attitude would either draw people closer or repel them. It would cause people to either love you or hate you. So, as a minister of the Gospel, your attitude is everything,” he said.

Apostle Nyamekye gave this admonition when he met with ministers and wives of the Nsawam Area today at the Palm Assembly church auditorium at Adoagyiri as part of the Area’s ongoing Ministers and Officers’ Retreat (Apostolisation).

Speaking on the topic: “Repositioning Your Ministry,” the newly-elected President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), defined attitude as an individual’s (or a leader’s) response to happenings around them.

“Attitude is your manner, disposition, feeling, position, etc., towards a person or thing. It could be positive or negative. A negative attitude is threatening while a positive attitude is mostly relaxed,” he explained.

The Chairman further explained that underlining a good or positive attitude is the principle of respect for all, seeing value in everyone, stressing that: “Greater love for others drives positive attitude.”

Apostle Nyamekye said that, since the work of ministry is all about working with people, a positive attitude is needed by the minister to enable him relate well with officers and members of the Church and effectively minister to them.

The Chairman posited that a minister who lacks a good attitude would struggle to lead and impact his members because a negative attitude tests the patience and tolerance of many.

He, therefore, emphasised that although it takes much effort and sacrifice to develop a positive attitude, it is a quality every minister should strive to possess in order to make a meaningful impact in the lives of his members and have a fruitful ministry.

In addition to having a positive attitude, the GPCC President also advised the ministers to acquire skills and a good character so as to be effective leaders and shepherds of God’s people.

Making reference to Psalm 78:71-72 to buttress his assertion, Apostle Nyamekye said that David is considered a great king because he possessed skills and had an integrious heart.

Expedite Action On Domestic Debt Exchange Programme – GPCC To Government

The Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) has urged the Government of Ghana (GoG) to expedite action on the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP) to help resolve the economic challenges facing the country.

The Council, in a communique issued on February 3, 2023 following its recently-held national conferences at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh, expressed concern about the dire economic challenges confronting the nation which has resulted in very high levels of inflation and currency depreciation.

“This is adversely impacting the poor the most, wiping incomes and wealth and pushing most Ghanaians into extreme poverty and hardship without any clear social safety nets,” it bemoaned.

The Council, among other requests, has called on the government to continue with the present productive engagements for a more amicable arrangement with respect to the DDEP to help solve the prevailing challenges.

“The GPCC acknowledges that globally economies are in turmoil and facing various degrees of socio-economic challenges. The Council particularly recognises and appreciates the efforts of the Government to contain the situation In Ghana. These recognisable efforts include the recent staff level agreement (SLA) reached with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in December 2022.

“We [therefore] urge the Government to do everything possible to ensure the IMF programme goes to the Board to help rescue the situation and reset the economy,” the communique said.

The communique further states that: “Whatever form the DDEP takes, Government should ensure that the financial sector, which is a key pillar of growth for the economy, is not destroyed in the process of the debt exchange programme.”

The Council has also appealed to the GoG to, as a matter of urgency, downsize government machinery and cut down on expenditure in order to build confidence among the citizenry about its commitment in solving the economic problems.

“From the Council’s perspective, it is important that the Government demonstrates a strong sense of burden-sharing to encourage key bond holders to fully accept the DDEP voluntarily,” it read.

The Council has also urged the Government to work with the relevant law enforcement agencies to retrieve all COVID-19 funds that the Auditor General’s 2021 Report cited as being unaccounted for or misapplied and also collaborate with other stakeholders and support calls to organise a non- partisan national consultative forum to dispassionately discuss and gather ideas for addressing the prevailing socio-economic and environmental challenges.

On its part, the Council reaffirmed its willingness to support the process in remedying the said challenges by availing its platforms to support consultative initiatives aimed at addressing the prevailing national problems to engender consensus building, unity and peace.

Among other commitments, the Council would increase admonition to Reverend Ministers of the Gospel to live modestly and above reproach.

“We would also intensify teachings to church members, especially those in public service, to show the way by imbibing the principles of integrity in the fight against corruption and being mindful of the fact that righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people,” it further stated.

The communique was presented to the Information Minister, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, last Monday by a delegation led by the President of the Council, Apostle Eric Nyamekye.

It’s A Great Privilege To Be Associated With The Church of Pentecost – Members Told

The Head of Ministerial Formation at the Pentecost School of Theology and Mission of Pentecost University (PU), Apostle Dr. Christian Tsekpoe, has iterated that The Church of Pentecost (CoP) is a divinely covenanted church and, therefore, ministers and members of The CoP should consider themselves privileged to be associated with the Church.

Apostle Dr. Tsekpoe said this yesterday when he spoke on the topic: “Repositioning Yourself in God’s Covenant for Maximum Impact” at the ministers and wives’ session of the ongoing Nsawam Area Ministers and Officers’ Retreat (Apostolisation) at the Palm Assembly church auditorium.

Reading from Genesis 12:1-8, Dr. Tsekpoe, who doubles as a Resident Minister of A-Lang Worship Centre, explained that God’s covenant with Abraham was ultimately to make him a blessing to all people of the world.

“It is important to note that becoming a blessing is higher than being blessed because the former means that the individual would be blessed to the extent that the blessing becomes a spring that flows through them to bless others,” he explained.

Apostle Dr. Tsekpoe further read Galatians 3:25-29 to emphasise that every believer, by virtue of their faith in Christ, automatically becomes a legitimate party to the Abrahamic covenant.

Citing many instances in the Bible, including God’s covenant with Abraham, Dr. Tsekpoe explained that God’s promises come with some challenges that are meant to test the individual’s faith in the Lord.

He, therefore, stressed that, in times of great challenges, believers, particularly ministers, should hold on to the promise the Lord has made to them and remain faithful.

Apostle Tsekpoe also advised them to take a cue from Lot, who parted with his uncle, Abraham, the source of his blessing, in the time of conflict, resulting in dire consequences for himself and his family.

“The fact that God has promised you does not insulate you or immunise you from challenges. So, never part company with God’s Covenant,” he charged. Linking that with God’s Covenant with The CoP, the renowned theologian explained that the growth of The Church of Pentecost and its spread throughout the world was revealed in a covenant God established with the founding fathers of the Church as far back in 1931, which was also repeated in 1940 and 1948.

He noted that upon reflection, one could tell that God has been very faithful to His side of the covenant and it behoves ministers and members of the Church to honour their part of this divine contract.

To successfully passed on this covenant from this generation to the next, Apostle Dr. Tsekpoe stressed the need for ministers to teach their children and members about these covenants.

“At the 6th Extraordinary Council Meeting of the Church held in Koforidua in April 1999, the General Council decided that Church members are taught these covenants for them to know God’s fulfillment of His side of the Covenants and what they must do to fulfill their responsibilities in God’s plan for the Church,” he said.

He noted that although Lot was not a party to the Abrahamic covenant, his close association with his uncle saw him benefiting from the blessings of Abraham, saying that people who are blessed are contagious.

He, therefore, advised the Church members to continue to position themselves in the covenant of The Church of Pentecost and to share in The CoP’s divine mandate and blessings thereof.

Apostle Tsekpoe, however, warned that just as the blessing or anointing of God is contagious, it is equally dangerous because anyone who treats “God’s blessed or anointed” with contempt incurs the wrath of God.

He, therefore, advised them against castigating the Church or her leaders as this could lead to dire consequences.

Deepen The COP Brand – Apostle Kumi-Larbi Charges Church Leaders

The General Secretary of the Church of Pentecost (COP), Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, has charged the ministers and officers of the Church to deepen their knowledge and understanding about The COP brand to help enhance and jealously guard it.

“Let us make The Church of Pentecost brand stronger, and teach our members to love and become more interested in the Church,” he stated.

Apostle Kumi-Larbi gave this charge on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, during the evening session of the 2023 Sekondi Area Ministers & Officers Retreat (Apostolisation) at the Apostle J.W.D Cudjoe Memorial Temple at Ketan.

Delivering a presentation titled “Deepening The COP Brand,” Apostle Kumi-Larbi iterated that as a church within its third or fourth generation, it is expedient for the members to go back to the forebears and ask them how the Church rose from obscurity to prominence while upholding its values.

Reflecting on Deuteronomy 32:7; 19:14; 27:17, and Proverbs 22:28, the Chief Scribe disclosed that over the years, The Church of Pentecost has built a Christ-centered brand with the core values, culture and rules of conduct handed to the current generation as a legacy from the forebears.

This brand, he noted has distinctively contributed to building a strong church through selfless service, sound biblical teaching, good leadership and succession, evangelism and discipleship, sacrificial giving, fellowship and discipline.

He, therefore, urged the members to make an effort to learn, uphold and jealously guard these time-tested Pentecostal distinctive attributes as efforts are made to reposition the local church for maximum impact.

“The CoP has its own culture, its foundational beliefs at the heart of its theology, its governing system, and practical expression of Christian life and ministry, in addition to a covenant between the Church and God. These things we love and cherish so dearly, therefore, everyone who comes into our fold must know and diligently apply on themselves,” he said.

He further noted that “although the Church began with people with little or no formal education, the Holy Ghost inspired them to create a brand which has made the Church unique, distinguished and respected in the world.”

Touching on the rules and conducts, Apostle Kumi-Larbi urged ministers as well as officers and members to ensure that appropriate messages are preached to suit every occasion, while taking into consideration the time used for such church programmes.

He further encouraged the ministers and officers to make much effort to ensure that members attend church services because it helps deepen their (members’) spiritual lives.

“Attending church programmes provides one the opportunity to study the word of God, pray for the needs and healing of believers and unbelievers, propagate the gospel of Christ, and share fellowship with other believers,” he said.

Be Faithful For Maximum Impact – Apostle Otu-Appiah Urges Clergy

The Winneba Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Otu-Appiah, has urged the clergy and their wives to be faithful to God, the Church and the members in order to make maximum impact in the nations.

According to the Winneba Area Head, many people in the Church spend more energy in castigating the Church, ministers, and leadership instead of directing it into positive activities, admonishing, “Do not pass your bitterness unto the members.”

The Winneba Area Head said this on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, during the Ministers’ and Wives session of the 2023 Sekondi Area Ministers & Officers Retreat (Apostolisation) at the Ketan Central Assembly church auditorium in Sekondi.

Speaking on the topic, “Be Faithful For Maximum Impact,” with Matthew 25:14ff as key Bible reference, Apostle Samuel Otu-Appiah explained that talents were given to three servants by a master who expected them to work and be faithful with what he had entrusted them.

He, however, noted that two of the servants worked diligently while the other hid his abilities because of the negative mentality he had concerning the master.

Apostle Otu-Appiah said that the servants who received more talents knew their master, his strengths and what he required of them, but the servant with the least talent looked at the other side and could not give a good assessment of his master.

He defined being faithful as remaining loyal and steadfast, true to the fact and being original to whatever one is asked to do by his or her master.

“Whatever you have been given, work at it with all your ability, for this would be the basis of judgement when Christ comes,” he stated.

Explaining the characteristics of faithfulness, the Winneba Area Head indicated that a person who is faithful has a good knowledge of his master; sees what they have now as an opportunity to work to glorify his master; works hard, and trusts God for a reward not man.

“Our destinies are linked to the places we go and the people we meet daily, so always be positive even as you work hard,” he said,

Apostle Otu-Appiah, therefore, charged the ministers and wives to encourage their members to live lives worthy of their calling while ensuring that they put in the required efforts to ensure great success.

“We are saved by grace, but rewards in heaven will be given according to works. So let us finish our work in excellence and trust that God will definitely reward us,” he noted.

Apostle Otu-Appiah also advised the clergy to focus on the strengths of their colleague ministers, and officers and help them with their weaknesses without judging one another.

HUM Organises 3-Day Camp Meeting For Teens

About 75 teenagers of The Church of Pentecost participated in a three-day camp meeting organised by the Kumasi Sector of the Home and Urban Missions (HUM).

The event, which yielded 14 souls and saw 44 participants receiving Holy Spirit Baptism, was held at the Anglican Retreat Centre from January 3 to 5, 2023. The programme was under the theme: “Repositioning the Local Church for Maximum Impact in the Nations,” and was attended by teenagers from the local assemblies opened through the ministry of HUM in the Kumasi Sector.

According to Pastor Thomas Ayamboya, the Kumasi Sector HUM Pastor, the meeting was organised to instill in the teenagers the unadulterated word of God, which has the propensity to build them up in Christ.

Speaking on the topic: “Repositioning the Future Leaders for Greater Impact in the Nations” (2 Timothy 1:5-6), Pastor Thomas Ayamboya emphasised that when a Christian repositions their perspective of life well at a tender age, they would be careful to uphold the values and principles of the kingdom of God, and become good and resoureful citizens.

He admonished the youth to rekindle the virtues imparted to them by their Christian parents and youth leaders in their local churches.

Mrs. Juliana Appiah Aidoo, wife of Apostle John Appiah Aidoo (Abuakwa Area Head), who gave a presentation on the topic: “The Rights and Responsibilities of Children at Home” at the event, warned the youth against abusing the privileges they receive at home. Instead, she advised them to be poised in carrying out their responsibilities so as to build them up and earn them the admiration of society in the future.

Mrs Appiah Aidoo also advised them not to leave the Church under any circumstance since that would be detrimental to them in the future.

“The Church of Pentecost is mindful of the plight of the Youth and will always stand by you to achieving life purpose should you continue to remain loyal to the church and exhibit the fear of God wherever you find yourselves,” she added.

Other life-building topics treated were The Youth and the Holy Spirit Encounter, “My Body, My Pride,” “My Future, My Responsibility,” and “The Impact of Music on the Youth,” among others.

The “Pentecost University Brand” Is Widely Respected – Apostle Dr. Tsekpoe

Apostle Dr. Christian Tsekpoe, the Head of Ministerial Formation at the Pentecost School of Theology and Mission of the Pentecost University (PU), has touted the overwhelming endorsement PU has earned across all the spectra of society and advised staff and members of The Church of Pentecost to cherish and contribute to enhancing the university’s widely respected brand.

Apostle Dr. Tsekpoe made these remarks when he addressed staff at the university’s first Management and Staff retreat for 2023.

With an emphasis on the elements of branding, Dr. Tsekpoe said many elements contribute to the brand distinctiveness of PU. He cited strong corporate leadership, calibre of staff members, strategic publicity, infographics and close association with The Church of Pentecost as some of the elements that give the PU brand overwhelming respect.

“This brand image has contributed to the increasing enrollment of students in recent years,” he added.

Before Apostle Tsekpoe’s presentation, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Kwabena Agyapong-Kodua, in the opening address, asked staff to be grateful to God for His goodness towards the university as a corporate body and the individual staff members.

The Vice-Chancellor stressed that gratitude is a sign of maturity and therefore charged the staff to cultivate hearts of gratitude to God, the University and others.

The Management and Staff retreat is a critical item on the University’s calendar aimed at re-energising staff and strategising towards the realisation of PU’s “University A+ agenda” of Godliness, research intensiveness, ethics and academic distinctiveness.

JESUS IS STILL DOING GOOD WEB

Jesus Is Still Doing Good – Pastor Prah Amonoo Asserts

The New Tafo District Minister of The Church of Pentecost, Pastor George Prah Amonoo, has asserted that the Lord Jesus Christ is still preoccupied with transforming lives of humankind for good.

According to him, Jesus, during His earthly sojourn, went about doing good and healing all who were under the tyranny of the devil, and He is still doing good (Acts 10:38) in this dispensation.

Pastor Prah Amonoo said this in a sermon he preached titled: “Oh! God, Restore My Right Hand,” during the New Tafo Area Monthly Prayer Meeting on Friday, February 3, 2023, at the Sepe-Buokrom Revival Centre.

Using the story of the man with a withered hand in Luke 6:6-11, the New Tafo District Minister noted that the writer was specific about the hand of the man that was shriveled, which was the right hand.

According to him, the right hand signifies “power, authority and dignity” (Exodus 15:12; Psalm 16:11; Isaiah 62:8-9; Matthew 26:63-64).

Pastor George Prah Amonoo further explained that Jesus could have spoken to restore the man’s hand forthwith, but He first asked the man to get up and stand before healing him. This, he noted, implies that Christians have to stand in anticipation of miracles in their lives. He, therefore, urged the congregants to always get up and stand in pursuit of restoration (Ephesians 6:10-13).

“Inasmuch as we expect Jesus to restore our right hand, which could be our businesses, finances, health, marriages, etc, we must first get up. We have to rise in prayer, fasting, love, tithing, offering, commitment and dedication towards God’s work,” he stressed, adding, “As we rise, the Lord will even restore the economic fortunes of our dear nation.”

In attendance were Prophet Samuel Tetteh Doku (New Tafo Area Head), Mrs. Victoria Tetteh Doku (Wife of the Area Head), the Area pastorate and their spouses.

Pentecost University Organises 3-Day Management & Staff Retreat

Pentecost University (PU) has ended a three-day retreat for management and staff of the university.

The event, which took place on the university’s main campus in Sowutuom, Accra, is the first to be held this year.

The Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the University, Apostle Prof. Kwabena Agyapong-Kodua, who delivered the welcome address, said the main reason for retreat was for the staff body to show gratitude to God and rededicate themselves to the cause of making PU the university of choice in the year 2023.

The VC commended them for their commitment in 2022 and urged them to do more this year.

On his part, the Head of Ministerial Formation at the Pentecost School of Theology and Mission, Apostle Dr. Christian Tsekpoe, said PU has become a solid brand that ought to be cherished.

Dr. Tsekpoe, whose presentation was on the “PU Brand,” further pointed out the tangible and intangible aspects of the brand that make it stand.

He attributed the brand resoluteness to factors such as good governance, determined staff, symbols that people want to associate with, and the goodwill of The Church of Pentecost.

“The PU brand commands respect in many places, which can be linked directly to the leadership, reputation of staff, strong publicity, among others,” he said.

Apostle Dr. Tsekpoe, therefore, challenged the staff to cherish the university’s brand and work hard to enhance it.

The Management and Staff Retreat is an important event on the Pentecost University calendar aimed at reinvigorating PU staff for maximum impact through intensive prayer session and workshops as well as strategising towards the realisation of PU’s “University A+” agenda.
