Your Presence Must Drive Away Darkness – Prophet Tetteh Doku Charges Christians

The New Tafo Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Prophet Samuel Tetteh Doku, has charged Christians to live their lives as people of light to dispel every darkness they come into contact with in society.

He explained that by virtue of their belief in Christ Jesus and acceptance of His Lordship, Christians are children of light, hence their presence must confront the darkness that has engulfed the world.

“When you believe the Gospel message and surrender to the Lordship of Christ Jesus, you become the child of the light. So, wherever you go darkness must not have a place,” Prophet Tetteh Doku said while speaking on the topic: “Your Position In Christ As An Equipped Christian,” during the New Tafo Area monthly prayer meeting held at Sepe Revival Centre on Friday, September 30, 2022.

Reading Psalm 78:61-62, Prophet Tetteh Doku identified the positions of those in Christ Jesus as one’s status changes entirely when they believe in Him (Christ).

The first position of believers in Christ he mentioned was that they are God’s strength. According to him, the strength of God never abates or fails, hence Christians cannot be defeated. Consequently, he urged the congregants to be unfazed in times of trouble because they cannot be overwhelmed by any turbulent situation, saying, “You are God’s strength and nothing can bring you down.”

He further said that Christians are God’s glory. This glory, he said, marks Christians out as special people. He, therefore, charged the congregants to conduct their affairs as receptacles of divine glory by way of dressing, eating, and maintaining a clean environment and surroundings to make Christianity more attractive and appealing to compel non-Christians to come to the saving knowledge of Christ.

The New Tafo Area Head continued that Christians are God’s people. He enlightened that as God’s people, Christians have the seal of God (Holy Spirit) upon their lives which makes them untouchable by the devil.

Prophet Samuel Tetteh Doku further indicated that Christians are God’s legacy whom He cherishes because He purchased them with the unblemished blood of Jesus. According to him, God does not consider Christians as mere beings, but as His inheritance. For this reason, he noted, God holds Christians dear and will not leave them to the mercies of the evil one. He, thus, urged the congregants to be fearless of anything because they are divinely protected.

After the sermon, Pastor Charles Oduro of Yennyawoso District took the congregants through the period of prayer.

Present at the service were Mrs. Victoria Tetteh Doku (Wife of the Area Head), the Area pastorate and their spouses, among others.

Area Deacons Orientation Seminar Underway At Pentecost Pension House

The Finance Board of The Church of Pentecost is organising a three-day orientation seminar for Area Deacons of the Church at the Pentecost Guest House at Gbawe in Accra.

The event, which was officially opened today (October 5, 2022) by the General Secretary of the Church, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, is aimed at reorienting Area Deacons and building their capacity to execute their duties efficiently.

All area deacons from the 76 administrative areas of the Church are, thus, expected to take part in the orientation seminar.

As part of the orientation, participants would be taken through various topics, including Overview of Policies, Role of Area Deacons, Financial Policies of The Church of Pentecost, Area Deacons’ Manual, and the Funds Mobilisation Role of the Area Deacon.

Other topics to be treated are: “Reporting to the Headquarters,” “Audit,” “The Area Deacon’s Relationship with Ministers” and “The Church of Pentecost Digitisation Project.”

Speaking on the topic “Testimonial” at the opening session, Apostle A.N.Y. Kumi-Larbi advised Christians to live in such a way that God and the people around them would give a good testimony about them.

He said that the Bible is filled with many good testimonies of individuals who left a positive imprint on the lives, hearts and minds of others through their actions and deeds. He cited Demetrius (3 John 12) and Gaius (Romans 16:23, 1 Corinthians 1:14, 3 John 4-5) as examples of men who were remembered for their good deeds.

He, therefore, urged Christians to lead purposeful lives and dedicate their time, treasures and talents to the service of God and humanity in order to make greater impact and leave behind a lasting legacy.

“While you cannot control how others choose to remember you, you can decide how you live your life according to the truth, your values, and principles,” he said.

In an interview with PENTECOST NEWS after the session, the Finance and Administration Director (FAD) at the Church’s headquarters, Apostle Lawrence Otu-Nyarko, who serves as the Secretary to the Finance Board, underlined the importance of the orientation seminar for Area Deacons.

“Area Deacons are considered the “primary presbyters” of the Church. They are highly valued in The Church of Pentecost because they are responsible for the Church’s finances. The orientation seminar is therefore necessary to guide them in their operations,” he said.

The Finance Board Chairman, Prof. Stephen Owusu-Kwankye, added that the orientation would greatly benefit newly-appointed Area Deacons as it would provide them excel in their new mandate.

Speakers for the seminar are Apostle Eric Nyamekye (Chairman, The Church of Pentecost), Apostle A. N. Y. Kumi-Larbi, Apostle Emmanuel Agyemang-Bekoe (International Missions Director, The Church of Pentecost), Elder Professor Stephen Owusu-Kwankye (Finance Board Chairman), Apostle Lawrence Otu-Nyarko and Elder J. Couple Singlehandedly Constructs 300-Seater Church Auditorium For Tampoi Assembly

Members of the Tampoi Assembly in the Tabieri District of The Church of Pentecost, could not hide their joy as they witnessed the dedication of their newly-constructed 300-seater church auditorium on Sunday, October 2, 2022.

The church auditorium with an attached Children’s Ministry auditorium was single-handedly financed by Mr. Nathaniel and Mrs. Miriam Acquah Dotse, both members of The Church of Pentecost in the United States of America, at the total cost of GH₵ 413, 263.00.

The couple also donated 300 plastic chairs, a swivel office chair, a set of drums, a keyboard (piano), 11 ceiling fans, a glass pulpit, and three tambourines.

The church building was dedicated by Apostle Emmanuel Agyei Kwafo (Home and Urban Missions Coordinator) on behalf of the Northern Regional Coordinating Council Chairman and Tamale Area Head, Apostle Sylvester Arhin.

Apostle Agyei Kwafo was ably supported by the Sawla Area Head, Pastor David Amankwaa, and the entire Sawla Area pastorate.

Delivering the sermon on the topic: “The Ark of Covenant, the reason for the building of the Temple” at the event, Pastor Amankwaa, with scriptural reference from 1 Chronicles 22:14-19, indicated that the Ark, which contained the two stone tablets with the Ten Commandments written on them, the manna in a golden box and Moses’ rod that budded, represented the presence of God among the Israelites.

“This ark of Covenant which represents Jesus Christ, now lives in every Christian,” he said.

He further explained that Christians are containers and carriers of the presence of God, hence, the need to transform every sphere of their society with the values and principles of the Kingdom of God.

The Sawla Area Head, therefore, urged Church leaders and members to intentionally maintain the presence of God in the Church through prayer, the unadulterated word of God, aggressive evangelism, and physical maintenance of the church building.

Dedicating the edifice, Apostle Agyei Kwafo, thanked God for the grace given to the couple and thanked them for yielding to the voice of God to put up the magnificent church building. He also urged the Church leaders and members to take proper care and maintain the church building.

Reading a brief history of the Tampoi Assembly, the Tabieri District Minister, Overseer Daniel Sewornu, noted that the Assembly began in 1998 under the leadership of Pastor Opoku, the then Tuna District Minister.

According to Overseer Sewornu, the Assembly’s attempts to put up a church building has always been foiled by natural occurrences (windstorm), including the most recent one, which completely destroyed a church building constructed through the Community Based Church Building (CBCB) initiative of the Church’s Headquarters in 2015. Consequently, the Assembly has been worshipping under a shed until this year when Mr. and Mrs. Dotse agreed to put up a church building for the Church.

The Tabieri District Minister also acknowledged the instrumental role played by Elder Daniel Aikins, and Pastor Philip Tamakloe of the Kpeve District who informed the couple about the plight of the Tampoi Assembly.

Present at the dedication service were the representatives of Mr. and Mrs. Dotse: Elder W.O. Daniel Aikins (the Project Coordinator) and Mr. Elijah Bright Oppong (a family member).

Others were ministers’ wives in the Sawla Area, officers and members of the Tabieri District. Members of the Tampoi Assembly also came in their numbers to celebrate the goodness of the Lord.

Prophet Martinson Kwadwo Yeboah Assembly Church Building Dedicated

The Anyaa-Ablekuma Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle William Ohemeng-Kwakye, on October 2, 2022, dedicated the Prophet Martinson Kwadwo Yeboah Assembly church building in the Oduman District.

The building was constructed at a total cost of GHȻ134,693.00, with support from the Church’s General Headquarters through its Community-Based Church Building (CBCB) grant.

Speaking at the dedication ceremony, the Area Head commended the Local Presbytery and the entire membership for their financial contributions to augment the various grants received from the Headquarters, Area and the District.

He also charged the assembly to ensure good maintenance of the building so as to prolong its lifespan.

Apostle Ohemeng-Kwakye expressed his desire to see all uncompleted church buildings in the Area completed. He, therefore, encouraged the Oduman District Minister, Solomon Azagisiya, to work hard towards achieving that purpose.

Delivering a short exhortation titled, “That there may be glory in the Church” at the event, the Ayikai Doblo District Minister of the Church, Pastor Ebenezer Ofori Ansong, stated that the Church is the prophetic voice of every nation and God’s light in this dark world.

Reading from Ephesians 5:20, he further explained that the Church reveals God’s glory, which permeates every sphere, causing communities and nations to be possessed for the Lord.

“As we dedicate the building, we must also dedicate ourselves to God,” he said, adding, “If we also dedicate ourselves to God, then the glory of God shall come upon us.”

Drawing lessons from 2 Chronicles 7:1-4, Pastor Ansong urged Christians to bequeath good legacies to their children just as David mobilised resources to help his son, Solomon, to build the temple of the Lord.

He stated that parents should be able to help their children achieve greater heights than themselves.

Concluding his message, the Ayikai-Doblo District Minister emphasised that “when there is glory in the Church, people easily respond to the gospel message of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit takes over the flesh. Therefore, if there is anything the Church must pursue, it must be for the glory of God.”

The Prophet Martinson Kwadwo Yeboah Assembly church building project began in 2016 and has since undergone various stages of construction until its successful completion.

TNS To Hold 10th Anniversary Of “Kara” Music Concert At National Theatre

The New Song (TNS), the official choral group of Pentecost International Worship Centre, Odorkor (PIWC-Odorkor), is set to mark the tenth anniversary of its annual music concert, dubbed “KARA,” at the National Theatre on Sunday, November 20, 2022.

A decade ago, the choir birthed the concept of an annual worship event, which it christened “Altar of Worship.” The event was later rebranded as “KARA,” translated as “Lord We Bow.”

The KARA music concert has since flourished into a well-established worship event that draws patrons from all over the country. It is also graced by some of the finest ministers and artists in the gospel music industry.

After nine years of successfully hosting the event, KARA moves into its 10th year, and the event organisers are set to mark it in spectacular fashion.

The anniversary celebration kickstarted on Sunday, October 2, 2022, with an official launch ceremony at the PIWC-Odorkor church auditorium in Accra.

It was announced at the launch ceremony that this year’s music concert would be held at the National Theatre under the theme “Great Grace” with FEDEMS Group as the headline sponsor. The event, which promises to be a historic one, will be free for all patrons (as has been the case in previous events).

KARA (as the name connotes) seeks to rally all creations of the Most High God to bow in worship of their Maker unhinged. The New Song (TNS) is, therefore, poised to give patrons a worship experience of a lifetime.

TNS, widely regarded as one of the top church choirs in Ghana at the moment, has blessed gospel music lovers with a myriad of beautiful compositions, notable of which is its cover of “My Life Is In Your Hands” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Y-eln9phGA) which has over a million views on their YouTube channel.

Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship Leadership Calls On PEMEM Director

A team from the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International (FGBMFI), Ghana, led by Enimil Ashon, National Director of Public Affairs, has paid a courtesy call on the Director of the Pentecost Men’s Ministry (PEMEM), Apostle Vincent Anane Denteh.

The purpose of the visit was to engage with and inform the church about the National Christian Men’s Week Celebration scheduled to be held in November this year.

Welcoming the delegation, Apostle Vincent Anane Denteh lauded the FGBMFI for its immense commitment and contributions towards mobilizing men for the church.

“It is not easy to organise men. However, the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship have consistently organised men to make impact in the society,” Apostle Anane Denteh said.

He disclosed that the four-year strategic vision of the Pentecost Men’s Ministry focuses on “Sharpening Men to Possess the Nations” (Proverbs 17:27), urging all men to sharpen each other to build purposeful men in the church.

Apostle Anane Denteh further urged them to consider investing in Ministry to Men. This, he noted, would help safeguard the society from bad influence, since men are leading most institutions in the country.

“Invest and resource them with the kingdom principles for a formidable future,” he stated, adding, “We should be intentional and conscious of creating Men’s Ministry in our churches.”

On the National Christian Men’s Week celebration, the PEMEM Director encouraged the fellowship to inculcate programmes that resonate with the spirits of the men in the various churches and admonished that they should be activity-driven to win the interests of men towards the ministry.

The Head of Department for Church Relations of Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship, Kumi Appiah, mentioned that as part of preparations for the celebrations, the leadership would be organising seminars, prayer meetings and evangelism to commemorate the week.

“We are expecting about 300 to 400 people from various churches to participate in the celebrations,” he explained.

Speaking to PENTECOST NEWS, Enimil Ashon said that men are considered to be comfortable without any support from people. He, however, noted that men need to be taken care of to take care of the home, saying, “A home without a man is often not complete because children go astray.”

Present were Jones Opare Badu (immediate past Chairman of Association of Methodist Men, Ghana), Elder Samuel Danso Agyarkwah (PIWC Atomic Men’s Ministry, COP), Kwasi Bonsu Asante (Programs Coordinator, Anglican Diocese), Deacon Samuel Tettey (National Baptist Men’s Coordinator), Elder Kaakyire Kwaku Asante (Pentecost Men’s Ministry, COP), and Edmond Ametofe (Church Relations, Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship).

Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International(FGBMFI) is the world’s largest Christian business men’s organisation, networking thousands of members in more than 85 nations through over 7,000 local chapters.

Ho Area Ordains 51 New Officers

A total of fifty-one (51) persons have been ordained as officers of The Church of Pentecost in the Ho Area.

The ordination services were held during the monthly officers’ prayers at Ho and Anum Zones on Tuesday, 27th, and Wednesday, 28th September 2022 at PIWC Ho and Anum Asikuma church auditoriums, respectively. The officers ordained consisted of 16 Elders, 12 Deaconesses and 23 Deacons.

Speaking on the topic, “Our Multi-Dimensional Relationship With God” (Matthew 20:28), Apostle Dr. Dela Quampah stated that Christians relate to God on so many levels such as slaves to God, servants of God, friends of God, brothers of Christ, children of God, co-workers with Christ, the bride of Christ, and co-heirs with Christ.

Commenting on Christians as slaves of God, the Area Head stated that all those who are in Christ are slaves to righteousness since they have been purchased with the precious blood of Jesus Christ. He encouraged Christians to thus live in righteousness and shun all forms of evil.

He contrasted the life of a slave with being a slave to God, saying that, although physical slaves feel “imprisoned,” being a slave in Christ gives you freedom. According to him, this freedom can be found when we are in the right relationship with God – a relationship guided by righteousness.

He charged leaders in the church to work with all their hearts to promote the Kingdom business, not as though they were working for or serving their presiding elders or district ministers but as to working for and serving God, for it is God’s work and it is God who rewards.

He charged the ordained officers to use their resources to support the Kingdom business. He also encouraged them not to look to men in their work but to God, who can strengthen them through difficult terrains in the discharge of their duties.

In attendance at the services were the wife of the Area Head, Mrs Comfort Quampah, the Area Pastorate, and officers in the Area.

Kwadaso Area Donates Educational Items Worth GHC 13,000.00 To BECE Candidates

The Schools Outreach Ministry (SOM) of the Kwadaso Area of The Church of Pentecost has donated 240 mathematical sets worth GHC 13,000.00 to final-year students in the area who are preparing to sit for 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) this month.

The church also donated 400 copies of the Holy Bible, devotional books to the candidates.

The donation was made at an orientation programme dubbed “Area Head’s Time With BECE Candidates” organised by the Kwadaso Area’s SOM leadership, headed by Deaconess Grace Ayensu. The event drew 764 candidates from the various districts in the area.

In his address, the Area Head, Apostle J. B. K. Tawiah, used the story of Daniel and his colleagues in Babylon (Daniel 2) as a case study to inspire the students to pursue excellence.

He advised the students to emulate Daniel and his friends by not defiling themselves through unacceptable means in an attempt to pass their exams, but rather be studious and work hard to achieve success.

According to Apostle Tawiah, Daniel and his colleagues succeeded because they were bold, disciplined, God-fearing, wise, and pursued excellence, among others.

“God’s favour was also upon them and that made a difference,” he said.

He, therefore, urged the students to put their trust in God and work hard so as to succeed in any endeavour.

The Kwadaso Area Head assured the students that God is with them and that He will continue to be with them even during the examination.

He also advised the candidates to always acknowledge God’s presence in their lives so that He gives them a better future.

The memorable event had in attendance five Examiners from the Santa Maria R/C School who engaged the students on how to prepare for exams in ICT, Mathematics, English, Social Studies and Twi.

Pastor Fred Appiah Baah, the Kwadaso Agric District Minister of The Church of Pentecost, also interacted with the students on how to answer French questions.

To the glory of God, six candidates surrender their lives to Christ at the event.
