Build A Strong Church To Stand The Test Of Time – Apostle Nyamekye To PIWCs

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has charged members of Pentecost International Worship Centres (PIWCs) and Worship Centres to develop and design innovative ways of building the church to spread for future generations.

“Your mandate is to build a multi-racial, multinational and multicultural churches,” Apostle Nyamekye said, stressing that “we are not forming an association of Ghanaians or Pentecost intellectuals for whoever believes should be allowed to be part of the church.

The Chairman made this call on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at the Pentecost International Worship Centre, Accra, in ATTC Kokomlemle during his engagement with all PIWCs and Worships Centres in Ghana.

Speaking on the topic, “Building Tomorrow’s Church Today,” Apostle Nyamekye said that the gospel is not like pollen grains; it does not travel on the wings of the winds and that men filled with the Holy Spirit must carry the word of God to the nations.

“Any church that wants to grow must be evangelistic in nature. Let us disciple the members but we must follow up on the others,” he stated.

According to Apostle Nyamekye, all members of the church are to do the work of an evangelist.

“We are stuck in our cars and our homes but the gospel must be spread to all the ends of the world,” he stressed.

He explained that the PIWCs and Worship Centres should have positive effects on their surroundings. According to him, the concept of city churches as being done in the diaspora should be adopted to win the indigenes to the church, where they make the Gospel Sundays a weekly affair, budget for souls, and evangelise on regular basis.

He further stressed that to achieve this feat, churches must set goals or targets, have a purpose, and be mindful of the process, that is working in particular ways.

“What builds churches is not revival meetings but to build the church; there must systematic series of actions to get others along in building the church,” he stated, adding, “We need to design and work in particular ways to achieve what is required to build the church.”

He urged the various music ministries to patronise the church’s theme songs, charging them to be intentional about learning and not just follow foreign cultures.

“Find innovative ways to diversify what is done in the church, by organising innovative programmes, while preaching the gospel to them and winning them unto Christ.”

Apostle Nyamekye called on Youth Pastors in the church to listen to the ideas of the youth even if some of them are not practical to fulfil. He pointed out that to reach more of the indigenous people, churches must be located in prime areas and the use of websites must be employed to fast-track soul-winning.

Quoting Colossians 4:5, the Chairman stated: “Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Change your ways to meet the needs of the foreigners.”

Anyaa District Appreciates Children’s Ministry Workers

The Anyaa District of The Church of Pentecost organised an appreciation service in honour of the 75 Children’s Ministry workers (Sunday School teachers) in the district.

The event, according to the District Minister, Pastor Emmanuel Teye Sackitey, was organised to commend the children’s workers for their dedicated service towards the spiritual growth and holistic development of children in the district.

“It is common knowledge that among the hardly appreciated people in churches are Sunday School Teachers. Whilst some see them as a nuisance to mainline adult service, others consider their services as the least important,” he observed.

He advised Church leaders to regard the services of Children workers as indispensable to the growth and development of the body of Christ in this undulating world, where the love of many is growing cold.

“The role of Children’s Ministry Workers is critical in the Possessing the Nation agenda,” he added.

Pastor Sackitey, therefore, praised the Children’s Ministry workers for the good work they are doing such as paying regular visits to children in their homes and schools, holding prayer meetings with children, training children during ministry week celebrations, etc.

Pastor Sackitey advised Children’s Ministry workers never to expect any pecuniary reward in discharging their duties, but to be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that their labour is not in vain in the Lord.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the teachers, the District Children’s Ministry Leader, Elder David Agyemang, said that they were completely overwhelmed by the gesture of the Church leadership and pledged their commitment to the service of the Children’s Ministry.

An amount of GHȼ8,354.50 raised from the six local assemblies in the district was shared among all 75 Children’s Ministry workers.

Dr. Kisseih is the President of Life International Schools, that is a Senior High School (Life International College), a Foundation School (from Creche to Junior High), and Life Bible College.

Sermon

Apostle Eric Nyamekye, delivering the sermon on the topic, “Understanding the Church,” stated that “the church’s foundation is one and the church is one. No one denomination has the truth. The truth is in Christ, who is the truth; what we hold are truths about the Truth.

He disclosed that the main thing that Apostle Paul had to contend with was the issue of circumcision, that is whether the Gentiles turning to Christ should be circumcised or not. He noted that the Pharisees found it a big issue because it gave them an identity in Christ.

He, however, said that the mystery of Christ was made known to him which changed his perception while quoting Ephesians 3:6.

He stated: “Denominations may be good but they should not be blocs that divide us. I believe that no one denomination is exclusive of a particular channel of God’s grace. The things are equally distributed among all denominations, and the degree to which God uses a fellow is determined not by the denomination in which he or she is located, but by the depth of his surrender to God, regardless of where he or she worships.”

He urged Christians to stay in unity and entreated them to make the church a strong organisation that focuses on eternal life.

Inductee Response

In his response, Rev. Dr. Kisseih expressed his utmost gratitude to God and the leadership of the Council for entrusting him with this higher calling. He thanked the various leaders of denominations who graced the occasion to support him.

One Member One Discipled Soul Relaunched

Host of ministers and members from the various Areas in the Greater Accra Region of The Church of Pentecost, gathered at the Kaneshie Central Auditorium, today as the One Member One Discipled Soul initiative, themed, “Go, Seek and Save the Lost,” (Luke 19:10), was relaunched to the glory of God.

The event was chaired by the General Secretary of the church, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi. He was assisted by the International Missions Director, Apostle Emmanuel Agyemang-Bekoe.

The concept, which is a brain child of the Evangelism Ministry under the five-year strategic plan of the church (Vision 2023), designates November each year for Aggressive Evangelism to fulfill the main mandate of Christ given to his disciples, thus go ye into the world and win souls unto God and disciple them accordingly.

Delivering the purpose of the meeting, the Kaneshie Area Head, who doubles as an Executive Council Member, Apostle Samuel Osei Asante said that the event was to relaunch the annual November aggressive evangelism project and one member one discipled soul initiative of the church.

“Willing to fulfill the commission of the Lord Jesus and the vision 2023 of the church, we have earmarked November as the month to win souls and our meeting seeks to launch the activity for the next year,” he stated.

In a brief sermon on the topic, “Appointed As A Witness,” using Acts 26:16 as a bible reference, the International Missions Director, Apostle Emmanuel Agyemang Bekoe iterated that the task of Christian witnessing can be categorized into two.

These, he said is to first, be commissioned to witness (Matthew 28;19) and secondly, to be appointed as a witness (Acts 26:16).

According to Apostle Agyemang Bekoe, the commissioning gives a command which indicates a role attached to the movement which is Christianity and the appointment is more of a personal responsibility.

“The determination and the decision of who goes into the kingdom of God for that matter has been given to us by Christ,” he said, urging Christians to be witnesses of God to their family and to win them to Christ.

He further outlined that the duty of the appointment as witnesses is to open the eyes of the blind by bringing them out of darkness into light. He, therefore stressed that after the blind has received the light and the power of God and receive forgiveness of sins, they turn to belong to the Kingdom of God.

Launching the One Member One Discipled Soul, the General Secretary, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, mentioned that the mandate of the church and for that matter all the ministries of the church is to disciple all nations.

He noted that the new ministries, including Home and Urban Missions, Schools Outreach ministry, Chieftaincy, Pentecost Workers’ Guild have all been established as additional vehicles to reach the unsaved.

Apostle Kumi-Larbi admonished that this annual event should not be seen as a ritual. Instead, he advised that we should see it as stock taking, a time to evaluate our performance as far as the great commission entrusted into our hands is concerned and ask for strength to do the work as an evangelist.

“Evangelism is a way of life, so let us live it. It not a preserve of a selected few but it is for every Christian,” he stated.

He, then called on the Executive Council members, National and Area heads, ministers and their wives (both active and retired), Elders, Deacons, Deaconesses and the entire membership of The Church of Pentecost, to come out from their comfort zones, get to the streets, markets, shops, hospitals and wherever they find people, to share the good news.

He added: “Remember from 12am tomorrow, Monday 1st November, every space must be saturated with the gospel, by making ourselves all things for all people so that by all means we might win some.

Now, on behalf of the Chairman of The COP, Apostle Nyamekye, Executive Council, the National Evangelism Coordinating Committee, I launch the 2022 Aggressive Evangelism and the One Member, One Discipled Soul, in the name of God the Father, Son and the Holy Ghost.”

Apostle Dr. Amos Jimmy Markin, the Evangelism Director outlining the activities for the initiative encouraged members to engage in personal (one-to-one) evangelism, ghetto evangelism, beach evangelism, social media evangelism, crusades/ rallies, hospital evangelism, Prison evangelism, among others.

The Evangelism Ministry, under the auspices of the Anyaa-Ablekuma Area will be holding a crusade dubbed, “Accra For Christ,” from November 22, 2022 to November 25, 2022, for all Greater Accra Ministers and members.

Goaso Area Office Complex Dedicated

An office complex of the Goaso Area of The Church of Pentecost, located at Goaso-Krofrom, has been dedicated by the Chairman of the church, Apostle Eric Nyamekye.

The Chairman was assisted by the Goaso Area Head, Apostle William Kojo Edzorhoho, and some heads within the Ahafo, Bono and Bono East regions. Among them were the Tepa Area Head, Pastor Daniel Frimpong-Manso; Berekum Area Head, Apostle Samuel Berko, and the Acting Techiman Area Head, Apostle Julius Franklin Asante-Ayeh (Retired).

The Omanhene of the Goaso Traditional Area, Nana Akwasi Bosomprah I, and his sub-chiefs also graced the occasion.

The two-storey edifice comprises offices for the Area head and his administrative staff, a conference room (currently serving as an auditorium for PIWC Goaso), washrooms, offices for the Pentecost Co-operative Mutual Support and Social Services Society Ltd (PENCO), and stores.

Speaking at the dedication service, Apostle Nyamekye mentioned that believers receive the anointing of the Holy Spirit the day we receive Jesus as Lord and Saviour, saying, “So as Paul was anointed, we have been anointed too.”

He spoke on the topic, “Building the Church to Be Strong, to Last and Spread” (2 Corinthians 1:21 and Luke 4:18), Apostle Nyamekye stated: “The anointing of God upon us is for a particular purpose. God needs your availability to activate it.”

He added: “God anointed us to help us build and advance the kingdom of God and we need to be careful how we build it.”

Reflecting on Nehemiah 4:13, Apostle Nyamekye outlined that Tobiah cautioned the Israelites to be careful of the structural integrity of the building. He, therefore, admonished Christian leaders to be careful of how they build when building the church of God.

He further urged leaders to build a church that will be strong, powerful, stand the test of time and spread across the nations.

According to him, many Christians reflect on the activities of witches who have less power, while having the power of God in them. He, therefore, charged them to focus on the power of God because they are strong.

Addressing the congregation, the Paramount Chief of Goaso Traditional Area, Nana Akwasi Bosomprah I, admonished Christian traders to desist from exorbitantly increasing their produce on the market, saying, “Despite the difficulties in the nation, be an agent of change in the marketplace for you are a priest.”

The Goaso Area Office Complex was the brainchild of the then Area Head, Prophet Appiah Adu (now retired) in 2008, after the Goaso District Mission House was pulled down. Subsequent Area Heads in 2012 and 2014, namely Apostle A. E. K. Ekuban (now retired) and Apostle I. K. Amoako (now retired), respectively commenced the construction of the project.

Apostle William Kojo Edzorhoho, upon taking over accelerated the work on the building and reengineered certain portions of the office. The entire project which cost an amount of GH₵696,705.00, was supervised voluntarily by Mr. Amoako Atta, the former Goaso Municipal Assembly Works Engineer.
