General Secretary Urges Christians To Seek Deeper Anointing Beyond Rituals and Symbols web

General Secretary Urges Christians To Seek Deeper Anointing Beyond Rituals and Symbols

The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost (CoP), Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, has addressed common misconceptions about the concept of anointing in the Christian faith.

With increasing confusion among believers regarding the nature of anointing, Apostle Obuobi called on believers to return to the biblical understanding of the anointing as the power and presence of God.

According to him, many Christians today mistakenly believe that the anointing is tied to physical objects like oil, water, or even arm bands.

“Others think the anointing is reserved exclusively for pastors and other men of God, often quoting Psalm 105:15, which says, ‘Do not touch my anointed ones.’ Rather, the anointing is the presence of God in the life of the believer,” he added.

The General Secretary was speaking at the climax of the ‘Filling Station’ service held on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC) – Obuasi.

He explained: “The believer who is anointed carries God’s presence wherever they go, just like the prophets of old and the early apostles did.”

He went on to remind the congregation that the presence of God was physically manifested in the lives of the early Christians through miracles and transformative power.

Citing Luke 4:18-19, the General Secretary stressed that “you cannot talk about the anointing without talking about the power of God.”

He clarified that the anointing is not about external artifacts but is rather “the power of the Holy Spirit working within believers.”

Apostle Obuobi also described the anointing as “the enabling grace of God,” which allows believers to accomplish extraordinary things that are beyond human ability.

He urged believers to be discerning, warning that not all things labeled as “anointing” come from God.

“Anything called anointing which is not from God is demonic,” he cautioned, adding that “it is not a genuine anointing.”

Referencing scriptures such as 1 Corinthians 6:19, Apostle Obuobi explained that every child of God qualifies for the anointing.

“If temples in the Old Testament qualified for the anointing oil, then in this era, the body of every child of God becomes the temple of the Holy Spirit,” he said.

To grow deeper in the anointing, Apostle Obuobi urged Christians to “move into the deep” and avoid complacency.

Quoting Luke 5:5-6, he explained that going deeper into the anointing requires effort and dedication.

“We must get to a level where we cannot stand but the only thing to do is to swim in the anointing,” he encouraged.

One of the key ways to deepen the anointing, according to the General Secretary, is to “learn to be with the Lord.” He cited Mark 3:13-15, which speaks of Jesus appointing the twelve apostles to be with Him before sending them out to preach and heal.

Apostle Obuobi concluded his message with a charge to believers: “Move into the deep, do not become complacent. There is much more God can do with you.”

Present at the service were Prophet David Kankam Beditor (Obuasi Area Head); Pastor Samuel Addo Annor (Resident Minister, PIWC Obuasi); Pastor Seth Asare Ofei Badu (Obuasi Anyinam District); Pastor Vincent Ephraim Amegah (Obuasi Bidieso District) and Pastor Richard Osei Mensah (Akrokerri District).

Sawla Area, SOM Coordinator Celebrate International Day Of The Girl Child

In a significant step to empower girls beyond the church walls, the Women’s Ministry of the Sawla Area, in collaboration with the Schools Outreach Ministry (SOM) of The Church of Pentecost, has celebrated the United Nations’ International Day of the Girl Child.

This year’s event was observed on October 11, 2024, under the theme, “Girls’ Vision for the Future: Unleashing the Girl Child for an Impactful Future.”

The Sawla area, led by Pastor Frederick and Mrs. Joana Mina Obboh, organised a special event at the Pentecost Preparatory School, Bole aimed at reaching out to young girls and promoting holistic development.

The event was graced by the National Coordinator for the Schools Outreach Ministry, Pastor Frank Mensah Tandoh, who shared an inspiring message titled, “Hadassah: The Model Woman,” based on Esther 2 and 4.

He stated that God has a divine purpose for all persons. He explained that just like the slave girl Esther who later became queen in Babylon, God has a plan for each girl’s future (Esther 2:5-7).

He, therefore, entreated young girls to take responsibility of their life by honouring the beauty God has given them to keep themselves pure for Christ and their future husbands (Esther 2:9). He further advised them to be obedient and respectful to their parents, guardians, teachers, religious leaders, and also embody hard work, modesty in dressing and prioritize their spiritual growth through regular Bible reading and prayer.

The pupils were led in a prayer session by the Area SOM Coordinator, Probationary Overseer Isaac Brobbey Boadu, resulting in 30 students making the decision to accept Jesus Christ into their lives.

Each girl received essential items, including sanitary pads, exercise books, pens, mathematical sets, and devotional guides from the Schools Outreach Ministry.

Special guests at the event included Deaconess Angelina Boerima (Sawla Area Women’s Ministry Leader), Pastor Godfred Osei-Frimpong (Bole District Minister), Deaconess Cecilia Gakpetor (Bole District Women’s Ministry Leader), Elder Nathan Kwasi Goloto (Headmaster of the school), staff, among others.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Schools Outreach Ministry and the Sawla Area Women’s Ministry for their generosity and the time spent empowering our girls.

Akim Ofoase District Retires 5 Officers

The Akim Ofoase District in the Akim Oda Area of The Church of Pentecost has organised a glorious retirement service in honour of five officers who have served the church meritoriously for several years. The event took place on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at the Akim Ofoase Central Auditorium.

The occasion was chaired by Pastor William Adu Gyamera, the Nkwantanum District Minister, with assistance from Pastor Francis Kofi Gyimah, the Akim Ofoase District Minister.

In his address, Pastor William Adu Gyamera, who also serves as the Area Pensions Committee Chairman, spoke on behalf of the Area Head, Pastor Samuel Acquaah. He exhorted the congregation on the topic “A People of God, Called to Bear Fruit” (1 Peter 2:9-10, John 15:16). He encouraged the church to demonstrate the fruits of repentance, faithfulness, obedience, and generosity in their leadership.

He advised that God desires His children, especially those in leadership roles, to bear fruit. “Any leader or child of God who fails to bear fruit disappoints God,” he emphasised.

Pastor Adu Gyamera expressed profound appreciation, on behalf of the Area Head, to the retiring officers for their commitment, sacrifices, and dedication over the years. He also urged the active officers to serve faithfully as leaders entrusted with the mysteries of God, knowing they are subject to accountability and rewards.

The retiring officers were encouraged to continue participating in church activities, as they were only retiring from active service as church officers, not from being children of God.

The officers honoured at the event were Elder Samuel Quainoo, who served for 30 years; Deacon Peter Hayford, who served for 41 years; Deaconess Stella Twumasi, who served for 22 years; Deaconess Alice Dede, who served for 20 years; and Deaconess Grace Antwi, who also served for 20 years.

Each retiring officer received a certificate of service, a citation of honour, and a cash gift in recognition of their sacrifices to The Church of Pentecost.

As part of the program, the District Finance Committee Chairman, Presiding Elders, and other ministry leaders were also acknowledged and appreciated for their contributions to the glory of God.

Life Is Short - Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi web

Life Is Short – Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi

Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, the General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, has emphasised the fleeting nature of life and the necessity of making a meaningful impact during one’s lifetime.

“Life is short; today we are here, but tomorrow we may not be because we don’t have the luxury of time,” he remarked.

He shared these insights during his sermon at the burial and memorial service for the late Elder John Kwame Asante (Rtd), who was the father of Apostle Samuel Osei Asante (Kaneshie Area Head and Executive Council Member) on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Heroes Park in Kumasi.

The service, which was officiated by Apostle Eric Nyamekye, the Chairman of the Church, saw a massive turnout, including Apostle Emmanuel Agyemang Bekoe (International Missions Director), other members of the Executive Council, active and retired ministers, traditional rulers, and congregants from across the country.

Also in attendance were Mrs. Juliana Korkor Obuobi (Wife of the General Secretary), Mrs. Deborah Agyemang Bekoe (Wife of the IMD), and Deaconess Mrs. Philomina Mireku (Women’s Ministry Director).

Speaking on the topic, “Let Your Days On Earth Count,” Apostle Gyau Obuobi referenced Job 14:5, noting that death is an inevitable aspect of life that everyone must face, as the human lifespan is determined by the Sovereign God.

“Life is a gift from God to humanity, and we must make the most of this gift. I believe Elder J. K. Asante was aware of this fact, which is why he used his life judiciously by diligently serving God, the Church in various capacities, and humanity,” he pointed out.

Apostle Gyau Obuobi highlighted the significance of the impact a person makes during their time on earth over mere length of life. He illustrated this by contrasting Methuselah, who lived for 969 years but left no lasting legacy, with Jesus, whose 33 years on earth had a profound impact on humanity.

The General Secretary also reminded the gathering that everyone will encounter a ‘night’ in their lives, which could manifest as sickness, old age or death, and urged them to act quickly on their responsibilities, quoting John 13:27.

“There is a period we call the ‘night,’ and when that period comes, there is nothing else you can do.  Therefore, while there is life, we must do whatever God has sent us to do now. A time will come when you may want to do it, but you cannot,” he concluded.
