38 Surrender To Christ During Pataboso Film Outreach

Thirty-eight souls were won and baptised during a film evangelism outreach organised by the Evangelism Ministry of The Church of Pentecost at the Pataboso community last Tuesday.

The new converts surrendered their lives to Christ after coming to terms with the reality of the end times after watching a movie titled “The Final Account.”

They willingly responded to an altar call by Elder Amos Mensah (Sunyani Cinema Van Operator of the Church) after the movie and were led to accept Christ as Lord and personal Saviour.

The event was held in preparation towards the four-day “Sefwi Nkwanta for Christ” crusade to be jointly organised by the Evangelism Ministry Directorate and the Nkwanta District of the Church at the Tanoso community park.

Prior to the film outreach, members of the Evangelism Ministry Advanced Team embarked on a house-to-house evangelism exercise which also yielded 33 souls to the glory of God.

The much-anticipated “Sefwi Nkwanta for Christ” Crusade officially begins tomorrow October 18, and ends on October 19, 2022.

Evangelism Team Baptises 20 New Converts Despite Python Scare

In a spine-chilling incident, members of the Evangelism Ministry Advance Team of The Church of Pentecost came across a giant python on their way to baptise some new converts who had surrendered their lives to Christ during a film outreach held at Anhwiaso yesterday (October 16, 2022).

The python, about 6 feet long and weighing about 15 kg, was lying in the Nkonkon river, where they were going to have the water baptism.

The team took no notice of the reptile since the area was totally dark. However, when one team member flashed a torch light, the python came out of the water and laid ashore.

The sight of the animal scared them and caused them to step back for cover. After regaining their composure, they grabbed some sticks and slew the snake.

Undeterred by the incident, the team went on to baptise the converts in another river opposite the one where they had slain the python.

Out of the 22 souls won during the outreach, the team baptised 20; the remaining two were ready to undergo the religious ritual but took to their heels at the sight of the python and thus had their session postponed to a later date.

The film evangelism outreach was part of some preliminary activities organised by the Evangelism Ministry ahead of the “Sefwi-Nkwanta for Christ” crusade set to take place from October 18 to 19, 2022.

The event, which is being jointly organised by the Evangelism Ministry Directorate and the Nkwanta District of the Church at the Tanoso community park, is under the theme: In Him Is Life (John 1:4).

Ministries Staff Sharpen Skills

Workers of the five mainstream ministries of The Church of Pentecost have attended a day’s workshop meant to build their capacities to enhance their performance.

The event, which took place at the Headquarters of the church in Accra on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, was attended by accounts staff, drivers assigned to the ministries, executive assistants to the directors, domestic staff, and security staff.

Among the speakers were the Director of the Pentecost Men’s Ministry (PEMEM), Apostle Vincent Anane Denteh; the Director of Women’s Ministry, Mrs Philomina Mireku; the Director of the Evangelism Ministry, Apostle Dr. Amos Jimmy Markin, and the Human Resource Manager, Elder Samuel Addo Mantey.

In a keynote address, the General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, commended the directors of the five ministries for putting together the workshop which, he said, was a follow-up to the Management seminar held a few weeks ago.

According to the General Secretary, management realised that the staff of the organisation play a key role in the success of the church. Therefore, there was a need to build their capacities to effectively perform.

Reading from Colossians 3:23-25, Apostle Kumi-Larbi urged the staff to develop a positive mindset about their work. This, he said, will help them to work with passion to attract the blessings of God and the rewards on earth.

In a presentation on “Self-Development in the Workplace Towards Professionalism” with Job 8:7, 2 Timothy 2:15 as his anchor text, Apostle Vincent Anane Denteh stressed the need for the workers to build their capacities, be abreast with the current trends in their areas of work, develop themselves professionally to produce results.

According to him, when workers pursue professional excellence, they will solve problems that erupt in their offices, come out with innovations, and by so doing improve the system as they play a lead role in the ‘Possessing the Nations’ agenda of the church.

He indicated that self-development opens opportunities for one to the job market or job security, brings workers to the limelight, and gives them recognition, while professionalism opens new opportunities to workers, creates fulfillment and satisfaction, makes them diligent and efficient and increases their capacity, among other benefits.

The Women’s Director, Mrs Philomina Mireku, speaking on the topic: “Discipline as a Mark of a Christian Worker” based on Hebrews 12:1-11, Proverbs 3:11, noted that working in a Christian environment calls for high discipline.

Touching on things that can help them stay focused and disciplined in their duties, Mrs Mireku asked the staff to clearly define their goals, be committed to their jobs, set boundaries and take care of themselves, avoid things that can lead them into temptation, and live by deadlines, among others.

According to her, a disciplined workforce yields better results, enhances the image of the organisation and also brings personal rewards to individuals.

PIWC-Tamale Donates To Tamale Central Prison

Pentecost International Worship Centre in the Tamale Area of The Church of Pentecost (PIWC-Tamale), through its Evangelism Ministry, has donated items worth GHS 3,140.61 to inmates of the Tamale Central Prison.

The items, which include bags of rice, cooking oil, packs of toilet rolls, pairs of slippers, washing powder, toothpaste and toothbrushes, were presented to officials of the prison on behalf of the church by a delegation led by Elder Sampson Nyamalor (the District Secretary) and Elder David Kofi Bajke (District Evangelism Ministry Leader). The others were Elder Jacob Ordatei Lantei, Elder Obed Adu-Amankwaah and Mrs. Sarah Naa Adaku Blankson (Wife of the Resident Minister)

Speaking on the theme, “Jesus Christ; The Hope of the World,” Elder David Kofi Bajike, said that the ministry of Christ Jesus on earth brought hope to all humanity.

He explained that the disciples strongly believed in Jesus Christ whilst He was with them, but gave up on Him after He died on the cross.

“While He was alive, they saw Jesus as their hero and champion, fulfilling the prophecy of Prophet Isaiah about the coming Messiah. But, when He ended up on the cross, many of the disciples gave up hope,” he said.

He further noted that the resurrection of Christ Jesus, however, restored the hope they had in Him, adding that: “This hope is still alive today and can be tapped into by the entire human race.”

After the sermon, Elder Obed Adu-Amankwaah led the inmates to receive Christ as their Lord and personal Saviour. He also prayed for all inmates of the prison as well as the wardens.

The leader of the inmates thanked the church for her timely gesture. He also appealed to the church to support them with canopies to provide shade during church services.

Rely Solely On The Power of The Holy Spirit – Apostle Dr Jimmy Markin To Missionaries

The Evangelism Director of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Dr Amos Jimmy Markin, has admonished ministers of the church called into missions to endeavour to depend entirely on the Holy Spirit.

This, he noted, will help demonstrate the power of the gospel of Christ in possessing the nations.

According to the Evangelism Director, The Church of Pentecost, from sub-Saharan Africa had been able to take its spirituality into its own hands and, driven by the Holy Spirit, successfully grew its indigenous denominations across the globe.

“The Holy Spirit is the chief actor of missions,” Apostle Dr. Jimmy Markin said, adding that the extraordinary growth of the church is due to the thorough transmission effect of the Holy Spirit’s work in missions.

He said this on Monday, July 4, 2022, during the opening of the Missionaries Orientation, underway at the Pentecost Convention Centre, Gomoa-Fetteh, near Kasoa.

Speaking on the topic, “Power Evangelism (Evangelising With The Aid Of Gifts And Fruit Of The Spirit),” with Acts 1:4. 8; Galatians 5: 16, 22-25; 1 Corinthians 12: 1, 4-11, as scripture references, Apostle Dr Jimmy Markin said that power evangelism is the role and influence of God, the Holy Spirit in Christian evangelism, discipleship, and church planting.

“Power evangelism essentially employs the use of the gifts and fruit of the Holy Spirit in an effective church planting,” he stated.

He noted that power evangelism was demonstrated through the ministry and life of Jesus Christ, the chief evangelist, and subsequently the early disciples including Peter, Philip, and Paul.

The Evangelism Director advised the missionaries to focus on their salvation since their spiritual state was delicate to their evangelistic ministries.

According to him, to become credible witnesses, two ingredients were required. These are sound character and a charismatic power which have been adequately provided to the missionary through the fruit and gifts of the Holy Spirit for effective ministry (Gal. 5:16).

“Whereas the fruit of the Holy Spirit provides the relevant godly character of the missionary (Gal. 5:22–24), the gifts of the Holy Spirit become the manifestation of his power source for the work (1 Cor. 12:4–11),” Apostle Dr Markin said.

He entreated missionaries to implore the gifts of the Holy Spirt in demonstrating the power of God in their various nations assigned. These gifts are the Gifts of Revelation or the eye (the word of wisdom, the word of knowledge, and discerning of Spirits); the Gifts of Power or the Arm of God (faith, working of miracles, and gifts of healings); and the Vocal Gifts or the Mouth of God (prophecy, diverse kinds of tongues, and interpretation of tongues).

“These gifts are very powerful equipment which makes the work and function of the evangelist effective and easy,” he pointed out.

The Evangelism Director charged the clergy to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit; be filled with the Spirit, and be led by Him. He also urged them to spend more time in the presence of God through prayer in faith.

“What singles you out as a missionary is grace, and what brings you out is favour. Until then, what brings you power is faith,” he stated.

Yennyawoso District Embarks On Hospital Evangelism

The Yennyawoso District Evangelism Ministry of The Church of Pentecost, on Saturday May 28, 2022, embarked on a hospital evangelism to the Boakye Dankwah Memorial Hospital, in Kumasi.

According to Elder Ernest Amoah, the District Evangelism Leader, the gesture was made in pursuit of the five-year strategic plan of the Church, to “possess the nations,” as well as the various spheres of life for Christ.

“We came to pray and share the gospel of Christ, with both patients and staff of the hospital,” he said.

As part of the visit, the delegation used the opportunity to donate some items such as fruits, five packs of bottled water, toilet rolls, and an amount of money to the hospital.

Antoa For Christ Crusade Climaxed, 145 Souls Won

A total of a hundred and forty-five (145) souls were won at the just ended ‘Antoa for Christ Crusade’ organised by the New Tafo Area of The Church of Pentecost in the Ashanti Region. Sixty-six (66) of the new converts have since been baptised in water.

The 4-day event which began from Tuesday, March 1, 2022, to Friday, March 4, 2022, was held under the chairmanship of the Area Head, Apostle Samuel Antwi.

Numerous life-changing testimonies shared during the crusade awakened the love of God in the lives of the members.

Despite the heavy downpour experienced on the first day, hundreds of members trooped to the grounds and remained grounded while others sought asylum in buses and frontage of houses.

Speaking to the topic, “Jesus is Lord”, Apostle John Obeng Kesse, Suame Area Head, expounded on the effectiveness of the name of Jesus and the need for every Christian to rely solely on him in this era of total dejection.

“Anyone living in the oppression and shackles of sin must come directly to Jesus. He is the Saviour of the world and will deliver you as you come,” he assured.

Pastor Samuel Edzii Davidson, Offinso Area Head of the church, who delivered a sermon on the topic, “The Gracious Personification of Jesus Christ and How His Lordship Transforms,” said that God’s redemption programme was drawn in Christ to save sinners who pursued salvation and transforms them for glory when they draw near.

Climaxing the crusade, Apostle Kenneth Baffoe Antwi, Ejisu Area Head, also spoke on the personality of Jesus Christ and stated why humanity must strive for the life He gives.

Apostle Samuel Antwi, the Area Head, in an interview, said that the huge number of souls won was an indication of the signs of God’s total lordship over Antoa and its environs.

This, he said, is a clear testimony that the vision for the crusade of getting the gospel to the township, had been achieved.

“Some of the Pastors and devoted officers have been chosen to follow up on the new converts to help nurture them as they begin their walk with Jesus,” he stated.

He further assured that the New Tafo Area will be very active in the activities of the Evangelism Ministry, as an Army Equipped to Possess the Nation to redeem the lost, empower, and convert the weak to Christ.

God Is Marshalling End-Time Army To Possess Nations – Apostle Dr. Jimmy Markin

“In this period of the Christian Church’s history, the Almighty God is marshalling an end-time army – an army which is purposefully strong, mighty, and has a powerful global effect to possess the nations.”

These were the words of the Evangelism Ministry Director of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Dr. Amos Jimmy Markin, when presenting a paper on the topic: “The Power of the Gospel of Salvation” (Romans 1:1-6, 14-18; 1 Corinthians 15:1-8) during the 2021 Heads’ Meeting which took place from November 8th to 13th, 2021 at Pentecost Convention Centre at Gomoa Fetteh, near Kasoa.

According to him, God is marshalling an army that will clamp down the power of the enemy, pull down his stronghold, destroy his machinations and prepare the way for the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

“Graciously, we have been privileged to be enlisted as part of this army.” He pointed out.

He added: “In a natural army, all trained personnel are equipped with the ability to handle weapons of war with knowledge, precision, and accuracy. These weapons are fashioned for both defensive and offensive purposes.

“Whereas the defensive weapons protect the army from the artilleries of the enemy, the offensive ones spew out assault and aid in taking captive or possession of the enemy. The same is the case in the Christian army. The Christian army also engages with both defensive and offensive weapons. This presentation seeks to address one of such offensive weapons at the disposal of the Christian militant.”

Apostle Dr Jimmy Markin noted that the global Christian army, though strong and powerful, does not make war with physical weapons but is mighty through God to possess the nations for Christ.

In this great army, he said, the weapons for battle are not carnal or physical or flesh and blood but are spiritual and powerful to overthrow and destroy strongholds of any shape and form (2 Corinthians 10:3-5).

“The weapons are not guns or bombs or warships or antiballistic missiles and drones, neither do they engage the opponent with physical force, compulsion, insults, arguments, reasonings, discrimination, threats, or any of such kind. The foremost weapon for our offensive attack on the enemy of the salvation of men, the devil, is the power of the gospel of salvation,” he stressed.

Reading from Romans 1:16, the Evangelism Director stated that the Apostle Paul declared that the gospel of Jesus Christ is the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes.

He asserted that the gospel of Jesus Christ “is the effective offensive weapon available for salvaging the lives and souls of perishing men from the throes and pangs of eternal doom and hell.”

In his view, the average Christian militant must be able to answer and master all matters concerning what the gospel of Christ Jesus is, the power of the gospel of salvation, the source of its power, what its contents are, what effects the power brings on its adherents, and how to use it for possessing the nations.

Apostle Dr Amos Jimmy Markin described the power of the gospel of salvation as the divine transformative power of God which comes through the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ which alone can save sinners from the penalty and punishment of sin and bring them into the righteousness of God in Christ.

“It is this power which reconciles fallen humanity back to God and makes children of God. It is unto this power (the gospel of salvation) that the Christian is set apart to the service of God and commissioned to be a herald of the salvation message through a ministry of reconciliation, to reconcile all men back to God and to one another,” he stated.
