Make God Your Living Refuge and Fortress – Apostle Etrue Urges Believers

The Koforidua Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Mike Kwame Etrue, has called on Christians to move beyond mere confession and begin to practicalise making God their refuge and fortress in every aspect of life.

He made this call at the Central Tabernacle in Koforidua during the launch of the 2025 Area Week celebration, held under the theme, “The Lord is My Refuge and Fortress.” Preaching from Psalm 91:1–2, Apostle Etrue emphasised that the Lord Jesus Christ remains ever fortified and ready to save, protect, and sustain His people, but believers must consciously run to Him for safety.

According to him, a life of total trust and dependence on God guarantees divine protection and help, and this must be demonstrated through holy living, obedience, and a consistent prayer life. Quoting Psalm 46:1 – “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” – he reminded the congregation that protection is not just found in knowing about God, but in dwelling with Him.

Apostle Etrue explained that God’s refuge manifests in three key ways; He is a hiding place in times of fear, an escape route in times of temptation, and a strong defender in times of trouble. “When life becomes uncertain, God calms our storms. When temptation comes, He offers a secret place of escape. And when trouble strikes, He surrounds us with His presence and fights for us,” he stated.

He further urged Christians to cultivate a personal relationship with God through prayer, worship, and devotion, noting that those who consistently abide in God’s presence experience His peace and security. “Protection comes not from hearing about God but from living with Him,” he added.

The Koforidua Area Head also extended the message of refuge beyond believers, stressing that God remains a fortress for all who turn to Him for salvation. He therefore charged the congregation to “go and tell” the world about the saving power of Jesus Christ. “It is our duty to point people to this solid refuge we have in Jesus, to tell the world that Jesus saves,” he said.

The launch service was marked by intense prayer and worship, as members interceded for their families, the Church, and the nation. The weeklong Area celebration, which runs from Tuesday, November 4 to Sunday, November 9, features preaching sessions, dawn broadcasts, rallies, personal and squad evangelism, prayer meetings, and fellowship activities across local, zonal, and district levels.

Tepa Area Other Sheep Ministry Holds Maiden Seminar

The Tepa Area of The Church of Pentecost, through its Ministry to Other Sheep, has held its maiden seminar at the Tepa Central Assembly under the theme “I Must Bring Them Also” (John 10:16).

The event, which took place on Sunday, October 19, 2025, brought together ministers, officers, and members from across the Area to deepen understanding and strengthen efforts in reaching non-Christian communities with the gospel of Christ.

Present at the seminar were Pastor Emmanuel K. M. Adeti (Hwidiem District Pastor and Area Coordinator for the Ministry), Pastor Obeng Gyamfi (Twabidi District), Pastor Stephen Larbi (Tepa District), and several district representatives and ministry coordinators.

In his welcome address, Pastor Adeti introduced the ministry’s slogan, “The Other Sheep Ministry – One Flock, One Shepherd,” emphasizing the Lord’s command to reach those outside the Christian faith. He shared a brief exhortation titled “One Flock, One Shepherd,”drawn from John 10:16, in which he reminded participants that Muslims are not enemies but friends and fellow human beings who also need the light of Christ. He encouraged members to approach evangelism to Muslims with love, humility, and understanding rather than prejudice or argument.

Elder John Ackah led the first presentation on the topic “How to Win a Muslim.” He explained key aspects of Islamic beliefs and how Christians can wisely engage in dialogue by starting from shared beliefs before addressing differences based on Scripture. He advised participants to avoid arguments, build genuine relationships, and provide practical support – specially to converts who may face rejection from their families.

The second session, led by Pastor Adeti, focused on “The Concept of Islam,” during which he presented statistical insights about the growing Muslim population and the Church’s strategic mission to reach them. He called on members to intensify prayer and evangelistic efforts, noting that the rapid spread of Islam and the intentional establishment of mosques near church communities must awaken the Church to greater spiritual vigilance and action.

The seminar concluded with an intensive prayer session led by Elder Stephen Osei, Area Secretary for the Ministry.

The event brought together several dignitaries, including the Bolgatanga Area MPWDs Coordinator, Pastor Nicholas Adimah; the Tongo District Minister, Overseer Joseph Yirenkyi Duodu; the Presiding Deaconess of the Deaf Assembly, Deaconess Matilda Teni; and the Assistant Headmaster of the school, Mr. Abugri Douglas, together with members of staff and students.

During the short ceremony, Overseer Duodu shared a brief exhortation based on 1 John 5:11–12, reminding all that true life and fulfillment are found only in Jesus Christ. His message was warmly received, leading 21 students to surrender their lives to Christ, after which 15 were baptized by immersion.

The team presented items including three 15kg washing machines, two large packs of sanitary pads, and two boxes of Bibles. The donations were received with great joy and gratitude by the students and staff. In his closing remarks, Pastor Semador encouraged the students to pursue both academic and spiritual excellence, urging them not to view their hearing impairment as a barrier but as an opportunity to inspire others through perseverance and faith.

The Mighty Wind: PAROUSIA ’25 In The Mountains

The New York Area Youth and PENSA Ministry of The Church of Pentecost, renowned for its vibrancy and spiritual zeal, once again demonstrated the power of united faith and divine encounter through its annual prophetic conference, PAROUSIA ’25, held under the theme “When The Spirit Moves.”

This year’s edition took on a unique spiritual depth as over 300 young people journeyed away from the bustle of city life to the serene Camp of the Woods at Speculator, New York, for a weekend of intense fellowship and encounter with God.

The retreat was more than a conference; it was a pilgrimage – a deliberate step into the mountains to seek God in an atmosphere free from distractions. Surrounded by nature’s majesty, the gathering set the stage for a true “Upper Room experience,” marked by expectation, preparation, and openness to the mighty move of the Spirit. From October 31 to November 2, 2025, the mountain air echoed with prayer, worship, and prophetic fire as the youth of the New York Region sought a fresh outpouring of God’s presence.

The event brought together seasoned ministers of the Church, including Apostle Isaac Anane-Sarfo (New York Area Head), Apostle Foday Kaba Dumbuya (President, Pentecost Biblical Seminary), Pastor Albert Sampana (Youth and PENSA Director, CoP USA Inc.), Pastor Fidelis Mensah (New York Area Youth and PENSA Pastor and Convener), and Overseer Yaw Osei-Owusu (Capital City District Pastor). Also enriching the atmosphere were guest artists Elder James Owusu (JKO Ministries) and Minister Sewa, whose Spirit-led ministrations lifted hearts in worship and ushered in waves of revival.

The opening service on Friday evening, themed “A Night of Expectation and Preparation,” featured a powerful sermon by Pastor Albert Sampana on “Vessels of the Move of the Spirit.” He called on the youth to yield fully to God’s refining process and to position themselves as instruments of His power. The session concluded with fervent prayer and a deep altar call, igniting the spiritual momentum for the days ahead.

On Saturday morning, during the “Holy Ghost Encounter,” Apostle Isaac Anane-Sarfo preached passionately on “When the Spirit Moves: An Assignment to Possess the Nations.” He emphasized that before believers can impact the world, the Spirit must first transform them. The message was followed by a mighty move of God during an extended time of prayer, where many received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, healings took place, and lives were set free.

The evening service built even greater spiritual intensity. Overseer Yaw Osei-Owusu delivered a compelling word on repentance and holiness as prerequisites for the mighty move of God. The atmosphere became charged with worship led by Elder James Owusu and Minister Sewa, resulting in an unforgettable time of healing, deliverance, and spiritual renewal. The presence of God was palpable, and testimonies of breakthroughs filled the gathering.

The conference reached its glorious climax on Sunday with the Adoration Service, where Apostle Foday Kaba Dumbuya ministered under the theme “In Step with the Spirit.” He expounded on the supernatural manifestations of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer and described PAROUSIA as a “divine appointment” rather than just a program. He challenged participants to live in constant fellowship with the Spirit, stating that “a Christianity detached from the Spirit’s reality becomes difficult and burdensome.” The message culminated in a solemn yet powerful commissioning prayer, as an army of Spirit-filled youth were sent forth to impact their generation.

PAROUSIA ’25 was more than an event – it was a Pentecostal visitation that reignited passion, birthed revival, and reaffirmed the ministry’s divine mandate to raise Spirit-filled leaders who will possess the nations. Indeed, the mighty wind of the Spirit blew through the mountains, leaving an indelible mark on every heart present.

PASTOR MUSA YAHAYA CALLS FOR RENEWED COMMITMENT TO PRISON EVANGELISM web

Pastor Musa Yahaya Calls For Renewed Commitment To Prison Evangelism

Pastor Musa Yahaya, the National Secretary for the Evangelism Ministry of The Church of Pentecost, has called on Christians to intensify efforts in reaching all people with the gospel message, including those behind prison walls, describing evangelism as a divine responsibility that knows no boundaries.

He made the call during a Gospel Heralds Training Session held in preparation for the upcoming Tamale for Christ Crusade.

Drawing inspiration from Romans 10:9–10, Pastor Yahaya emphasised that faith in Christ—believing with the heart and confessing with the mouth—leads to righteousness before God.

According to him, while many have received salvation and stand righteous before God, some remain confined by the laws of men within prison facilities. “Though free in Christ, these brethren remain bound in the physical world,” he said.

Pastor Yahaya noted that this reality highlights the urgency of the Church’s mandate to proclaim the gospel everywhere, including to those who are physically imprisoned.

He urged believers to heed The Church of Pentecost’s Unleashing Agenda, which challenges Christians to take the gospel beyond traditional spaces and impact lives in every sphere of society.

“The righteousness that the gospel imparts is the greatest form of freedom anyone can receive. It transcends earthly prisons, governments, and societies,” he stated, adding that the Church must act with passion, faith, and courage to fulfil its calling.

He further encouraged Christians to see evangelism not merely as a duty but as an act of love that brings spiritual liberation and often leads to social transformation.

“Our mission as Christ’s heralds is to proclaim the good news everywhere, to every person, so that righteousness and true freedom may be realised in the fullest sense,” he said.

Pastor Yahaya’s message forms part of The Church of Pentecost’s broader evangelistic drive, which seeks to reach communities, institutions, and correctional centres across Ghana as part of its effort to “Possess the Nations” for Christ.

The Tamale for Christ Crusade is expected to draw thousands of participants from across the region as the Church continues its mission to win souls and transform society through the gospel.

Sawla Area Renovates Kalbawura’s Palace

The Sawla Area of The Church of Pentecost has renovated the palace of the Kalbawura in the Savannah Region, demonstrating the Church’s commitment to community transformation in line with its “Possessing the Nations” agenda.

The renovation, spearheaded by the Sawla Area Head, Apostle Frederick Obboh, and his wife, Mrs. Joana Mina Obboh, followed a pastoral visit to the Kalba Wura to console him after the passing of his son. During the visit, Apostle Obboh encouraged the traditional leader to continue fostering peace and unity in the Kalba Traditional Area.

Touched by the state of the palace, Apostle Obboh requested permission to renovate the structure — a gesture that was warmly welcomed by the chief. Approval was subsequently granted by the Area leadership, and funds were released for the project. Renovation works were swiftly undertaken and completed, transforming the palace into a more dignified edifice befitting the traditional authority.

The Kalba Wura expressed profound appreciation to Apostle and Mrs. Obboh and the entire Sawla Area of The Church of Pentecost for their benevolence. He noted that the gesture has not only improved his palace but has also strengthened the bond between the Church and the traditional council.

The project adds to a growing list of community impact initiatives undertaken by The Church of Pentecost across the country, reflecting its holistic approach to ministry — touching lives spiritually, socially, and physically to the glory of God.

Prez Mahama Commissions 260-Capacity Damongo Camp Prison Facility

President John Dramani Mahama has commissioned a newly constructed 260-capacity Skills Acquisition, Vocational and Reformation Camp Prison at Damongo in the Savannah Region — an ultra-modern facility fully funded, built, and furnished by The Church of Pentecost for the Ghana Prisons Service.

The facility, inaugurated on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, is the third correctional centre constructed by the Church under its flagship Safety and Security Project, aimed at supporting national security reforms and strengthening Ghana’s correctional system.

The Damongo Camp Prison features inmate dormitory blocks, a fully equipped skills-training centre (carpentry and tailoring), an administration block, a chapel that doubles as a classroom, kitchen, dining hall, laundry, infirmary, visitors’ lounge, CCTV security systems, recreational facilities, and two mechanised boreholes, among other auxiliary amenities.

In his keynote address, President Mahama commended The Church of Pentecost for its faith in humanity and sustained investment in prisoner reformation. He also highlighted ongoing government reforms in the prisons sector, including the expansion of existing facilities, review of bail conditions to reduce the burden on the poor, the introduction of a parole system, and completion of the 800-capacity reform facility at Nsawam.

The Director-General of the Ghana Prisons Service, Mrs. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie (Esq.), described the Damongo facility as “a centre for rehabilitation, productivity and renewal, where lives once written off are given the tools and dignity to begin anew.”

Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mubarak, praised The Church of Pentecost as “a formidable partner in nation-building,” noting that the Damongo Camp Prison stands as “a beacon of hope and a testament to the power of partnership.”

Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Dr. Eric Nyamekye, said the initiative reflects the Church’s practical contribution to Ghana’s socio-economic development and national transformation agenda, stressing that the mandate of the Church extends beyond spiritual evangelism to holistic human development.

He noted that Ghana’s prison overcrowding rate has reduced from 50.43% in 2018 to 38% — a progress partly attributed to the Church’s earlier interventions, including similar camp prisons in Ejura and Nsawam, and the payment of fines for petty offenders with default warrants.

Apostle Nyamekye further revealed that construction of a fourth facility in Obuasi in the Ashanti Region is far advanced. He also reaffirmed the Church’s commitment to supporting the State in critical areas such as security, education, health, and water provision, noting that the Church currently operates 12 health facilities, 109 schools, and has constructed 239 mechanised boreholes for deprived communities nationwide.

“They Are Citizens Too” — Apostle Dr. Nyamekye Advocates For Prisoners

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has called on Ghanaians to treat prisoners with dignity, stressing that incarceration does not strip individuals of their humanity or citizenship.

Delivering an address at the commissioning of the Damongo Skills and Reformation Camp today [November 5, 2025], he said the Church’s investment in correctional facilities is rooted in compassion and biblical conviction.

“Even though they are incarcerated, they remain citizens, and their welfare deserves our attention,” he said. “Sinners are our clients, and we look for them wherever they are — even in prison.”

He cited Hebrews 13:3, urging society to remember inmates as though “imprisoned with them.”

The Damongo facility is designed to provide not only accommodation but also moral and skills development support. It features chapel/classroom for worship and moral formation, tailoring, metal fabrication and carpentry workshops for skills training as well as counselling, healthcare and reintegration support

Apostle Nyamekye said beyond infrastructure, the Church has launched the Prison Associates Ministry to guide ex-convicts through reintegration and prevent relapse into crime.

Lives are already being transformed, he said, with many inmates in earlier facilities accepting Christ, acquiring skills, and preparing for life after incarceration.

“A day spent helping only yourself is a day wasted,” he said, quoting Abraham Lincoln. “We must build people, not abandon them.”
