Serve With Heavenly Mindset – Apostle Dr Walker Urges Pastors’ Wives

A former Executive Council Member of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Daniel Okyere Walker (retd), has stressed the vital role pastors’ wives play in enhancing the excellence of their husbands’ ministries.

Speaking at the Ministers’ Wives Conference at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh near Kasoa, Apostle Dr Walker indicated that although the role of a pastor’s wife is not formally defined, it carries a profound responsibility. He encouraged pastors’ wives to offer wholehearted and excellent service in support of the ministry, reminding them that God rewards every act of service rendered in His name.

Delivering a message on the theme, ‘The Pastor’s Wife Serving for Eternal Rewards,’ the former Vice Chancellor of Pentecost University urged participants to cultivate a mindset of service, regardless of the challenges they may face.

‘The work of ministry is demanding and comes with numerous responsibilities. It has no fixed hours. Therefore, the pastor’s wife is expected to be a pillar of support, offering excellent service in every aspect,’ he stated.

Apostle Dr Walker outlined several key duties expected of pastors’ wives and stressed the importance of making sacrifices to win souls for Christ. He assured them that every act of service would be rewarded by God. Citing 1 Corinthians 9:20–23, he referenced biblical examples such as the Woman of Zarephath, Sarah and Abraham, Mary and Martha, and Dorcas—whose service to widows in Joppa brought them divine blessings.

‘Let us serve with a sacrificial mindset, knowing that our calling in ministry demands hospitality and unwavering dedication. Our labour is not in vain. In fact, when you serve with genuine interest, spiritual gifts can be transferred from the pastor to you. These gifts become sharper and serve as valuable assets to both the pastor’s ministry and the church,’ he concluded.

You Are A Wife Of A Diplomat On Assignment – Apostle Nyamekye To Pastors’ Wives

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has adviced ministers’ wives to view themselves as partners on a diplomatic mission alongside their husbands, who serve in the full-time ministry.

He indicated that just as a diplomat’s spouse shares in the responsibilities and representation of their partner, so too should ministers’ wives embrace their unique calling within the church.

Drawing a parallel between full-time ministry and ambassadorial service, Apostle Nyamekye explained that a minister’s wife, though not officially appointed, is covered by her husband’s spiritual mandate. As such, she is expected to support his role, much like the Levitical priesthood of old, where the family served together in sacred duties.

Speaking on the theme, ‘The Church of Pentecost Brand of Ministerial Call: The Role of the Minister’s Wife’ during the closing session of the three-day Ministers’ Wives Conference at the Pentecost Convention Centre in Gomoa Fetteh, Apostle Nyamekye encouraged the women to see themselves as co-labourers in ministry.

‘Embrace your role as the wife of a diplomat. Let us advance the frontiers of God’s Kingdom together until Christ returns. We must not grow complacent. This is a divine assignment, and we have been privileged to be called,’ he said.

He cautioned against comparing The Church of Pentecost’s ministry model with that of other denominations, noting that the Church’s approach is unique and should be respected as such.

Using biblical examples such as Jezebel, Abigail, and Pilate’s wife (2 Kings 9:30; Matthew 27:19; 1 Samuel 25:28), Apostle Nyamekye urged the women to cultivate good character, maturity, wisdom, and tact in their interactions with the presbytery and congregation.

‘Sometimes, silence is the best response. Quietness can bring peace,’ he advised, while encouraging them to evaluate their words carefully before speaking, especially in moments of provocation, by asking: What do I have to say? When should I say it? Where should I say it? And how should I say it?

He warned against what he termed ‘Jezebelic tendencies’ – attitudes that are manipulative, immoral, or seek to usurp authority. “Don’t be a Jezebel. Strive instead to be like Abigail or Pilate’s wife. Character is the essential virtue for being a supportive partner in ministry,’ he emphasised.

Apostle Nyamekye concluded by encouraging the women to remain steadfast and committed, reminding them that the trials of today are nothing compared to the glory that awaits, saying, ‘Be a good wife. Support the ministry wholeheartedly. Let go of anything that hinders your calling and persevere in the work of the Lord.’

Ministers’ Wives Urged To Support Women, Children’s Ministries

The wife of the General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Mrs Juliana Korkor Obuobi, has called on ministers’ wives to take an active interest in the activities of the Women and Children’s Ministries at their respective duty stations.

Speaking on the topic, ‘Supporting Your Husband’s Ministry through the Women and Children’s Ministries’ at the Ministers’ Wives Conference at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC) in Gomoa Fetteh near Kasoa, Mrs Obuobi underscored the vital role ministers’ wives play in the success of these ministries.

‘As ministerial partners, ministers’ wives must support their husbands’ ministries by actively engaging in the Women’s and Children’s Ministries and providing the necessary support for their programmes and activities,’ she stated.

Mrs Obuobi clarified that although a minister’s wife is neither a deputy nor an assistant pastor, she holds a significant responsibility in ensuring the success of these ministries. She encouraged them to collaborate with ministry leaders in developing programmes that align with the church’s annual theme and vision.

She also advised ministers’ wives to avoid organising events labelled as ‘Osofomaame’s programmes,’ and instead work in unity with ministry leaders to implement well-coordinated activities.

‘Conduct yourselves with humility and love, be punctual at meetings, and contribute meaningfully to discussions to positively impact the ministry,’ she urged.

Mrs Obuobi further encouraged the ministers’ wives to be actively involved in the Children’s Ministry. She suggested attending training sessions for teachers to better understand the dynamics of children’s services and to advocate for the needs and concerns of the ministry.

‘Our children are very perceptive. They know they can trust the Osofomaame and share their concerns with her,’ she said, adding, ‘Attend their meetings, interact with them, give them hugs, and make them feel valued. By doing so, we nurture them and help them feel a sense of belonging in the church.’

Model Your Marriage web

Model Your Marriage and Home After Christ – Mrs Sheila Hayfron Advices

Mrs Sheila Hayfron, wife of Apostle Dr David Nyansah Hayfron, an Executive Council Member-Elect and Tarkwa Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, has urged Christian couples to model their marriages and homes after Christ in order to honour God and preserve His glory.

Speaking at the ongoing Ministers’ Wives Conference 25 at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh near Kasoa, Mrs Hayfron noted that earthly Christian marriage serves as a practical representation of Christ’s relationship with the Church—a foreshadowing of the heavenly union between Christ and His bride.

Addressing over 3,000 attendees—including ministers’ wives, retired ministers’ wives, and widows of ministers—Mrs Hayfron delivered a message on the theme, ‘The Pastor’s Wife and Her Marital Life.’

She encouraged participants to view their marriages as their foremost ministry, saying, ‘We must see our marriages as our first ministry—serving our husbands and families with dedication. Let us be their prayer backbone and source of inspiration. We must also learn to cultivate contentment and avoid bitterness in our marriages.’

Mrs Hayfron underscored the importance of maintaining friendship within marriage, cautioning against the tendency to fall into rigid role-playing at the expense of genuine connection.

‘Many of us were friends with our spouses before marriage, but over time, we’ve allowed roles to replace that friendship. Let us rekindle those relationships,’ she advised.

She added: ‘Our marriages on earth are meant to reflect the heavenly marriage. They should honour God and present a true picture of His divine design to the world.’

She also warned against involving children or church members, especially those considered as family, in marital disputes. Instead, she recommended seeking guidance from mentors and professional counsellors when necessary.

Concluding her message, Mrs Sheila Hayfron stated: ‘We must help our husbands make it to heaven by creating a supportive environment that meets their emotional, psychological, and physical needs.’

Apostle Obuobi Urges Ministers’ Wives to Lead Godly Lives web

Apostle Obuobi Urges Ministers’ Wives to Lead Godly Lives

The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, has called on the wives of church ministers to pursue godly living as part of their calling as believers and co-labourers in ministry.

Speaking at the 2025 Ministers’ Wives Conference held at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC) in Gomoa Fetteh, near Kasoa on Wednesday morning, Apostle Obuobi stated that the mission to ‘possess the nations’ can only be fulfilled by men and women who embody godliness.

‘The pastor’s wife has a responsibility to live a godly life. You are accountable for your own training in righteousness,” he stated, adding, ‘Train yourself in godliness, for godliness is devotion to God; it leads to a life that pleases Him.”

Addressing the theme, The Godly Woman,’ Apostle Obuobi quoted Christian author Jerry Bridges, saying, ‘No higher compliment can be paid to a Christian than to call them godly.’ He stressed that godliness must be the foundation of every aspect of the Christian life, leaving no room for alternatives.

He expressed concern over the tendency of some believers to appear religious while denying the power that leads to true godliness. To reinforce his message, he referenced several scriptures, including 1 Timothy 6:11, 2 Timothy 3:5, and 2 Peter 1:5.

Drawing lessons from the lives and ministries of Apostles Paul and Peter, Apostle Obuobi encouraged the participants to be effective and fruitful by embracing perseverance and discipline, which are hallmarks of the early church leaders.

‘Discipline your eyes, ears, attitude, and appetite in your walk with God,’ he urged. ‘Be intentional in every area of your life and ministry. Know the Scriptures by reading, studying, meditating on them, and applying them. Set boundaries and operate within them, remembering that no discipline is pleasant at the time, but it yields lasting fruit.’

Aps. Agyei Kwafo Urges Ministers’ Wives To Ensure Consistent Family Devotion At Home web

Aps. Agyei Kwafo Urges Ministers’ Wives To Ensure Consistent Family Devotion At Home

The National Coordinator for the Home and Urban Missions (HUM) of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Emmanuel Agyei Kwafo, has issued a passionate call to ministers’ wives to rekindle and sustain spiritual fire on their family altars, warning that without it, even mission houses risk becoming spiritually barren.

Delivering a compelling message titled “Fire on the Family Altar” at the ongoing Ministers Wives Conference at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh, today [Wednesday, June 11, 2025], Apostle Agyei Kwafo emphasised the importance of consistent family devotion, describing it as the true source of divine power for the home.

He explained that while conferences and retreats are beneficial, the true and lasting fire of God is not sourced from such gatherings but from daily devotion and worship cultivated in the home.

“When the fire on the family altar goes off, the mission house becomes an ordinary place—like a shopping mall or a drinking bar,” he stated.

Apostle Kwafo warned that the absence of spiritual fire leads to a loss of divine presence, weakening the moral and spiritual strength of the household.

Quoting Leviticus 6:13, he reminded attendees that God’s desire is not only the establishment of an altar, but that the fire on it must be kept burning continually—from dawn to dusk.

He further noted that this fire empowers families to raise righteous children, sustain holiness, and confront the ills of society with boldness and integrity.

The HUM Coordinator described the family altar as more than a scheduled devotion time. He said it is a sacred space in the home—often the hall or living room of the mission house—where prayer, worship, and study of God’s Word are carried out consistently.

Drawing from Isaiah 6 and Mark 1:35, Apostle Kwafo further stressed that the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit is cultivated in these quiet moments of early morning worship. He charged ministers’ wives, who serve as “assistant pastors” in the home, to take spiritual responsibility for ensuring that the fire never goes out.

“There must be a priest in the house, and while the minister leads, his wife must co-labour with him to guard the fire on the altar with their very lives,” he said.

He concluded by urging every minister’s home to designate specific times and spaces for daily devotion, and to uphold lives of personal holiness—so that the fire of God may flow from the bedroom to every corner of the home.

Ministers’ Wives Conference Opens At Pentecost Convention Centre

The Church of Pentecost has officially begun its 3-day Ministers’ Wives Conference at the Pentecost Convention Centre in Gomoa-Fetteh, near Kasoa. The event, which brings together approximately 3,000 participants, including ministers’ wives, widows of deceased ministers, and wives of retired ministers from across Ghana, is being held under the theme: ‘The Godly Woman Unleashed to Transform Her World.’

The conference, which runs until Friday, June 13, 2025, features a rich blend of fellowship, teachings, and prayer sessions designed to equip participants for spiritual growth and to strengthen their roles as partners in full-time ministry alongside their husbands.

In his opening address, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, encouraged attendees to seek a personal encounter with the Lord during the conference. He acknowledged their invaluable contributions to the ministry and proposed a new slogan for adoption:
‘Ministers’ Wives! Partnering our Husbands; Serving the Lord.’

According to the Chairman, the theme serves as a reminder of the church’s theme for the year and highlights the unique roles the participants are called to play as ministers’ wives in pursuing the church’s agenda of possessing the nations.

Dearly beloved, I thank God for the privilege to come together as ministers’ wives in such a significant gathering after so many years. For a long time, our conferences have either consisted of all ministers or have included both ministers and their wives. However, today marks a special occasion as we gather specifically for a ministers’ wives-only conference after a long while.

On behalf of the Executive Council of the church, he expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the countless sacrifices ministers’ wives continue to make in support of their husbands in doing the work of the ministry.

He, therefore, charged them not to consider the conference as business as usual, but rather commit themselves fully to gain as much as they can from the conference.

The conference will cover a wide range of topics, including: ‘The Pastor’s Wife and Her Marital Life’ byMrs Sheila Hayfron; ‘Pastoralia’by Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi; ‘Fire on the Family Altar’ by Apostle Emmanuel Agyei Kwafo; ‘The Pastor’s Wife Serving for Eternal Reward’ by Apostle Dr Daniel Okyere Walker (retd); and ‘The Godly Woman and Her Bible’ by Mrs Paulina Kuma.

The rest are: ‘Healthy Living’ by Elder Nana Kofi Owusu, Mrs Ewurabena Antwi-Boasiako, and Dr Charlotte Ampong; ‘Supporting Your Husband’s Ministry’ by Mrs Korkor Obuobi and Mrs Juanita Nuekpe; ‘The Godly Woman and Prayer, by Mrs Vida Acheampong; and ‘Preparing for Transfer and Home Management’ by Mrs Rose Kumi-Larbi.

Be Connected To The Holy Spirit, The Source Of Power – Apostle Oduro-Nyarko Charges Christians web

Be Connected To The Holy Spirit, The Source Of Power – Apostle Oduro-Nyarko Charges Christians

The Elmina Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Lawrence Oduro-Nyarko, has urged all Christians to remain connected to the Holy Spirit, describing Him as the lifeline and the ultimate source of power for the Church.

Preaching on the theme, “Experiencing the Unleashed Power of the Holy Spirit”, and drawing from Acts 1:8, Apostle Oduro-Nyarko explained that on the Day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit descended with freshness and divine power to empower the Church for its mission.

He made this passionate call during the Elmina Area’s monthly prayer gathering, “Adom Bere”, held on Tuesday, 27th May 2025, at the Central Auditorium in Elmina. The event brought together members from the Elmina Zone, which includes the Elmina, Abee, SSNIT Flat, and Essaman Districts.

According to Apostle Oduro-Nyarko, the primary purpose of the Holy Spirit’s outpouring was to equip the disciples with power for evangelism.

“The power given to the believer is not for personal gain or ambition, but to make Christ known to the world,” he emphasised.

He further stated that the Church cannot be effective in its mandate without the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit.

“A Church without the presence and manifestation of the Holy Spirit is merely an association,” he stressed.

Drawing lessons from the early Church, he noted how the disciples, after receiving the Holy Spirit, could not remain within the confines of their meeting places but went out boldly to proclaim the gospel. He challenged modern-day believers to do the same — to rise beyond the four walls of the church and be unleashed to spread the good news with boldness.

Apostle Oduro-Nyarko also highlighted the significant roles the Holy Spirit plays in the life of the believer. He described the Spirit as a Helper, Guide, and Renewer of minds, who empowers believers in times of difficulty and confusion.

“The Holy Spirit provides divine direction when believers find themselves at life’s crossroads,” he said.

“He brings renewal and transformation to those who remain yielded and connected to Him at all times.”

In concluding his sermon, he outlined practical ways to experience the unleashed power of the Holy Spirit, which include prayer, fasting, worship through spiritual songs, and deep study of the Word of God.

“If you truly desire to experience the nature of God — His faithfulness, mercy, love, and kindness — then dig deeper into His Word, for He has revealed Himself to all who diligently seek Him,” he declared.

Also present at the prayer meeting were Pastors Ebenezer Ayivi Okoampah, Chris Ameyaw, Daniel and Mrs. Grace Tetteh Matey, Prince Augustine and Mrs. Barbara Naomi Ababio, as well as Elder John Wettey Otabil (Area Deacon), and Elder Napoleon Annan, an Area Executive Member.

Pastor Tandoh Urges Youth To Build Purposeful Relationships web

Pastor Tandoh Urges Youth to Build Purposeful Relationships

The National Coordinator for the Schools Outreach Ministry of The Church of Pentecost, Pastor Tandoh, has emphasised that relationships are fundamental to the Christian life and must be approached with purpose and intentionality.

Speaking on the topic “The Etymology of Relationships” during the Empowerment Session of the recently held “You Must Be Born Again” Gospel Crusade at Ho Technical University, Pastor Tandoh highlighted that God is both deliberate and inclusive in how He relates to people, and believers must reflect this divine intentionality in their relationships.

Quoting Matthew 22:37-38, he explained that Jesus viewed the commandments through the lens of relationship — urging believers to love God with all their heart, soul, and mind. “God is very intentional, and yet embraces all individuals,” he said.

Using 2 Timothy 2:20-21, Pastor Tandoh likened believers to vessels of gold, silver, wood, and clay, stressing that one’s usefulness in God’s house is directly tied to personal sanctification.

“To be a noble vessel in the house of God depends on how you have cleansed yourself,” he stated.

He also addressed the dynamics of romantic relationships, warning against entering into such relationships prematurely. Referencing Song of Solomon 8:4, he underscored the importance of timing and knowledge in managing the power of love.

“You need knowledge to guide this power of love; otherwise, what was meant to be a blessing can become something else,” he cautioned.

Breaking down the word “relationship” into “relate” and “ship”, he described relationships as journeys between individuals that require direction and purpose.

“Every ship must have direction — and so must every relationship,” he said.

Pastor Tandoh advised young people to avoid emotionally overinvesting in relationships that lack clear direction. He stressed the importance of boundaries, saying,

“Boundaries are created by values. The boundaries you give to a person become their area of play.”

The SOM Coordinator also warned against toxic relationship types – Doggie and Serpentine relationships.

“Doggie relationships”, he described as those driven by fleshly desires and lacking spiritual discernment, often marked by repeated mistakes.

“Serpentine relationships”, on the other hand, are deceitful and draw individuals away from God’s purpose.

Pastor Tandoh concluded his presentation by urging the youth to build relationships that honor God, promote spiritual and personal growth, and align with their divine calling.

“The ultimate bond and power of every relationship is love. On the altar of love, any sacrifice can be made,” he affirmed.
