3 Ordained Pastors Of The Church Of Pentecost

The Effiduase Area of The Church of Pentecost has organised an ordination service for three ministers in the Area who have been called into the pastorate of the Church.

The trio, Pastor Benjamin Kwasi Frimpong (Ehiamankyene District), Pastor Isaac Komla Agbesi (Bosuso District), and Pastor Collins Nyaaba Abayase (Dorminase District), were called into the pastorate during the 46th Session of the General Council Meetings in 2023 held recently at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh.

The ordination service, which took place at the Begoro District Central Assembly auditorium on Thursday, June 1, 2023, was officiated by Apostle Mike Kwame Etrue (Executive Council Member/ERCC Coordinator/Koforidua Area Head), assisted by Pastor Stephen Okyere Acheampong (Effiduase Area Head).

The occasion was also graced by Pastor Francis Adawu Gameli (Effiduase Area Secretary), Pastor Prince Odoom (PCC Manager), Pastor Sampson K. Boakye (Suhum Sector Travelling Secretary), and a host of ministers in the Effiduase Area.

Speaking at the service on the topic, “Hearing the Lord Speak in Your Ministry,” with scripture references from Ephesians 4:11-12, Genesis 3:8, Jeremiah 33:1-3, 1 Corinthians 2:9-12, 1 Corinthians 14:1, Matthew 5:6, and Psalm 107:9, Apostle Mike Etrue urged Christians, especially ministers and elders, to make it a priority to hear God speak in their ministry.

He, however, cautioned that those who disobey the voice of God will be led astray, but obedience to the voice of God brings peace, blessings, fruitfulness, and prosperity.

Apostle Mike Etrue, therefore, advised Church leaders to lead their flocks in obedience to the will of God.

He reiterated that the ascension gifts – apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor, teacher – are leadership offices of the Church, given by the ascended Christ to lead and perfect the saints.

He urged the Church members to cherish, appreciate, and support God’s gift of ministers to the Church, so they can benefit from the divine blessings contained within them.

Apostle Etrue noted that God speaks to His children through the glory of His creation, His Holy Spirit, His word, and through dreams, visions, and the human conscience.

“In fact, He sometimes speaks to us through our spouses, the elderly, our children, as well as events and circumstances to speak with us,” he explained.

According to him, the reason why God longs to speak to His children, among other things, is to give them divine wisdom to help people navigate challenges and situations.

“God uses so many methods to speak to you. Sometimes to turn us from wrongdoing and keep us from pride, to preserve our lives from perishing by the sword,” he said.

The Koforidua Area Head, therefore, urged believers, particularly ministers, to reposition themselves to always receive from the Lord.

Concluding his message, Apostle Etrue said that ministers can hear the Lord speak in their ministry by desiring to hear His voice (1 Corinthians 14:1, Matthew 5:6, Psalm 107:9), and being sensitive to the Holy Spirit.

The ordination service also had in attendance some Chiefs and traditional leaders.Members of the Church in the Area also turned up in large numbers to witness this historic event.

Maakro District Mission House Dedicated

The Suame Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle John Obeng Kesse, has dedicated the mission house for the Maakro District to the glory of God. The six-bedroom manse, which boasts impressive facilities such as a conference room, basement and a hall for the Women’s Ministry practical activities, was dedicated on Sunday, May 28, 2023.

Dedicating the building, Apostle Obeng Kesse, who was assisted by the District Minister, Pastor Bright Asare Junior, appreciated the immense support by the Headquarters, the Area, and the District towards the completion of the project.

In a sermon at the event, Pastor Alex Asare of Bohyen District read from Colossians 3:22-25 and spoke on the topic, “Repositioning the Local Church To Do Good Works For Maximum Impact in the Nations.”

He enlightened the congregants on the role for being a leader; a serving mandate, which comes with dedication and commitment to the cause. He also noted that being occupied with the work of God demands sacrifices, and such produces results to benefit the Church.

Pastor Alex Asare, therefore, applauded the tireless efforts of the Maakro District in putting up such a magnificent edifice.

The Maakro District was carved out of the Suame and Tarkwa Districts in 2015.

Since then, the ministers and their families have been residing in a rented apartment with series of efforts made during the time of the first District Minister, Pastor Isaac Obeng Akese, to get a plot of land to begin the construction of a mission house, but to no avail.

With continued prayers and determination, a land was acquired after which a sod-cutting and foundation stone laying ceremonies were performed in 2020 by the then Area Head, Apostle Michael Collins Asiedu (Rtd).

Present at the service were Mrs Eunice Owireduaa Kesse (wife of the Area Head), Apostle Nana Ofori (Rtd), the Area pastorate and their wives, Nana K. Gyasi, some Area Executive Members, Area Women’s Ministry Leader, and the District Executive Members.

Senchi Assembly Church Building Dedicated

The Agormanya Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Kojo Gakpetor, on Sunday, May 28, 2023, dedicated the Senchi Assembly church building in the Akrade District.

He was assisted by the Akrade District Minister, Pastor Joseph Kwadwo Tawiah and a cross-section of the Area pastorate.

The dedication service also had in attendance ministers’ wives, Area and District Executive Committee members, traditional leaders, church members, among others.

Apostle Samuel K. Gakpetor delivered an exhortation at the event on the theme: “The Place of Speaking in Tongues in the Church,” drawing from 1 Corinthians 14:1-4.

In his sermon, the Agormanya Area Head urged the congregation to continue speaking in tongues, emphasising that it is the initial external evidence of the baptism in the Holy Spirit and a fundamental pillar of Pentecostalism.

Apostle Gakpetor further stressed the importance of maintaining the passion for speaking in tongues and not letting it grow cold.

Addressing the heresies surrounding speaking in tongues, Apostle Gakpetor stated that believers should persist in speaking in tongues as it signifies their baptism in the Holy Spirit and enables direct communication with God (1 Cor 14:4), while also providing personal edification.

Apostle Gakpetor, however, cautioned that when praying, believers should not only pray in tongues but also engage their understanding and seek the gift of interpretation of tongues.

Deaconess Leticia Koranteng, in presenting a brief history of the project, mentioned that construction of the edifice began on February 13, 2005, when the then District Minister of Akosombo, Pastor Osei-Wusu Nimako (late), expressed the intention to establish a new district in Akrade.

The local presbytery, led by Elder Emmanuel Ayi Ayikwei, along with the members, wholeheartedly supported the construction of the building till its completion.

On behalf of the Church, Deaconess Leticia Koranteng expressed gratitude to all past Area Heads of Agormanya, former ministers of the Akrade District, presiding elders, and building committee members who contributed to the project from its inception to completion.

Pastor Joseph K. Tawiah was particularly commended for overseeing the successful completion of the church building.

Special recognition was also given to Nana Gyan Oduro Dapaah II, Adontenhene of Senchi, and Nana Abrewa Mirekua II, Queenmother of Dasaase.

New Dormaa Central Assembly Church Building Dedicated

The Sunyani Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle James Gabriel Quardson, dedicated the new Dormaa Central Assembly church building on May 28, 2023, to the glory of God.

The dedication ceremony was attended by the Sunyani Area pastorate and their wives, former ministers of the district, retired ministers, Area and District Executive Committee members, Area Women’s Ministry Executive Committee members, Traditional leaders, Assembly members, and church members, among others.

During the ceremony, Pastor Peter Garbah delivered a sermon on the theme “A Glorious Temple” from 1 Kings 8:1-13, urging Christians to seek God’s glory as a means of obtaining a Glorious Church.

He emphasised that God desires a worthy place to reside, built by people with clean hands and a clean heart, as stated in 1 Chronicles 28:3-7.

“So, we must keep a pure heart to accommodate God’s glory,” he added.

Pastor Garbah also highlighted the importance of allowing the word of God to manifest in the lives of believers for His glory to manifest in the Church.

Elder Paul Adjei Bediako, the Presiding Elder of the Central Assembly and a District Executive Committee Member, provided a brief history of the project.

He mentioned that the assembly was established in 1984. He, however, noted that the idea to construct the Church building was mooted by a group of members who approached the then District Minister, Pastor Osei Kwadwo, to express the crucial need for a permanent place of worship for the Assembly. Consequently, the then Sunyani Area Head, Prophet James Osei Amaniampong, approved the construction of a new church building and supported the project with an amount of GHS 7,000.00 in 2004.

Under the leadership of the then District Minister, Pastor Emmanuel Yaw Adjei, the project progressed rapidly, and the foundation stone was laid on Sunday, May 6, 2006, by Prophet James Osei Amaniampong.

He acknowledged all past ministers of the New Dormaa District for overseeing the project from the beginning until its completion.

The current District Minister, Pastor Michael Osei-Appau, was commended for continuing the work started by his predecessors and successfully supervising its completion.

The Church also expressed appreciation to the founding leaders of the Assembly for their significant contributions to the project and the overall growth of the Church.

Love Is Key To Successful Marriage – Women’s Director Observes

The Director of the Women’s Ministry of The Church of Pentecost, Mrs Philomina Mireku, has delivered a heartfelt message to married men, urging them to love their wives sincerely, purely, and consistently.

According to her, men showing love to their wives reflects Christ’s love for the Church.

Speaking at the recently held 5th Bezalel Conference organised by Pentecost Men’s Ministry (PEMEM) at the Pentecost Convention Centre in Gomoa Fetteh, Mrs Mireku highlighted the importance of love in a woman’s life.

She stated: “A woman thrives in an environment of love. When a husband loves his wife, it fuels her to give her best and enables her to fulfil her God-given responsibilities.”

Addressing the topic, “The Expectations of Wives from Their Husbands,” Mrs Mireku revealed that unmet expectations often cause strain in marriages. She stressed the need for effective communication between spouses, ensuring that both partners are aware of each other’s expectations, saying, “As a husband, it is important to understand your wife’s needs to foster a stronger and happier marriage.”

The Women’s Director emphasised that every wife desires a husband she can rely on, someone who is supportive and trustworthy. She, therefore, urged husbands to be considerate and respectful in their interactions with their wives as they live together.

Drawing inspiration from biblical passages such as 1 Peter 3:7 and Ephesians 5:25-29, she pointed out that the Christian marriage is a reflection of Christ’s sacrificial love for the Church.

Categorising the expectations of wives from their husbands, Mrs Mireku outlined five areas: spirituality, social life, domestic responsibilities, finances, and sexual intimacy.

In terms of spirituality, she stressed the importance of mutual growth, praying and studying the Word of God together, and being dependable and faithful to one another. Regarding social expectations, she emphasised open communication, treating each other with kindness and respect both at home and in public, and providing support and consistency.

For domestic responsibilities, she mentioned the desire for husbands to be protective, actively involved in raising children, and supportive of household chores. She also encouraged husbands to involve their wives in taking important family decisions like property acquisitions and retirement planning.

Discussing financial expectations, Mrs Mireku emphasised transparency in monetary matters, providing financial support unconditionally, being responsible fathers, and being driven by ambition and purpose.

She also highlighted the importance of meeting sexual expectations, including affection, communication, understanding each other’s needs, and spending quality time together.

Mrs Philomina Mireku concluded by urging the Church to promote trustworthiness and tenderness among husbands.

Assisting the Chairman was the Tamale Area Head, Apostle Sylvester Arhin, an Executive Council Member and RCC Co-ordinator for Northern, North East, Savannah, Upper East and Upper West Regions of the Church.

The dedication service took place at the E. D. Aninkorah Memorial Temple at Kapolhin, Tamale.

Dorsu (Tumu Area Head), Pastor Eric Gyacham (Bawku Area Head), and other ministers and their wives in the Tamale Area.

Providing some historical context of the building, Pastor Benard Aziz Mohammed Abogorago, the Tamale Area Secretary and District Minister for Lamashegu, disclosed that the need for a new mission house arose due to the pivotal role the Area plays in the Northern sector.

“Through administrative restructuring aimed at enhancing Church administration and management, Tamale became the central seat.”

He noted that the new edifice would accommodate the Area Head and his family, while the old mance would accommodate guests who visit the Area for various church activities. It would also serve as transit quarters for church officials passing through to other parts of the Northern Sector.

Pastor Abogorago indicated that the Chairman of the Church, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, mooted the idea for the facility’s construction, which various stakeholders accepted.

The sod was cut to commence the project in January 2021. Delivering a short exhortation on the theme, “Securing a Better Future As a Collective Responsibility,” Apostle Nyamekye emphasised the importance of leaders focusing on the future and the welfare of the people rather than personal gain.

He urged Christians to be mindful of their actions and think about the development of the nation. Apostle Nyamekye also encouraged the members to save and prepare for unforeseen circumstances rather than exhaust all their financial resources.

Dedicating the building, the Chairman thanked the Executive Council for providing the necessary resources.

He commended Apostle Sylvester Arhin and the Tamale Area for efficiently utilising the project funds.

He urged all members to demonstrate their love for the church when presented with similar opportunities.

The six-bedroom mission house boasts impressive facilities such as a study room/conference room, a waiting area, and a laundry room, among others.

Cape Coast Area Dedicates Double Occupancy Mission House

The Cape Coast Area of The Church of Pentecost, under the leadership of Apostle Samuel Yaw Antwi, has dedicated a double occupancy mission house to accommodate the Akotokyir District Minister and the Campus Minister of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) branch of the Pentecost Students and Associates (PENSA).

The building was dedicated by the General Secretary of the Church, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, on Sunday, May 28, 2023, with support from the Area Head.

The dedication ceremony, which took place at the Kwaprow Assembly auditorium, brought together people from all walks of life, including ministers, officers, PENSA members/ alumni and church members.

Delivering a sermon on the topic “Repositioned After Pentecost for Maximum Impact,” with scripture references from Joshua 5:1-13, 2 Chronicles 5:14, and Ezekiel 11:14-25, Apostle Kumi-Larbi stated that Christians must reposition themselves to be pruned by God in order to maintain the glory of God.

The General Secretary said that the forebears have worked hard to bring the Church this far and the present generation is currently enjoying the fruit of their labour.

He, therefore, urged the current generation to strategically and consciously reposition themselves to build a more glorious Church in the coming years for maximum impact in the nations.

He further stated that after encountering the Holy Spirit, one’s mind must be renewed by the word of God, which will affect the way they perceive things as they are being transformed into the image of Christ.

Apostle Kumi-Larbi added that any spirit-filled believer should have a renewed spirit where they are conscious in choosing their words carefully.

“After Pentecost, your thoughts must change, your hearts must be renewed, and finally, your words must have a positive impact,” he affirmed.

Dedicating the building, Apostle Kumi-Larbi commended Apostle Yaw Antwi, who also serves as the Coordinator for the Central Regional Coordinating Committee (CRCC) and Executive Council Member of the Church, for the great work done to ensure the successful completion of the project.

“Apostle Antwi has managed and used the grants very well to put up this edifice, which will house the PENSA-UCC Campus Pastor and the Akotokyir District Minister,” he said.

Each apartment of the double occupancy mission house comprises four bedrooms, one office, a study, a family hall, a visitor’s hall, a dining area, and a kitchen, among other facilities.

Elder Kwabena Owusu provided a brief history of the project, mentioning that the idea for the mission house was conceived when Pastor Mark Kofi Adom-Nyankey, the former District Minister of Hopedo in the Ho Area, generously donated his parcel of land in Kwaprow for the Akotokyir District mission house project.

Upon receiving this great news, the Area Head, Apostle Samuel Yaw Antwi, together with the Area Executive Committee, who were also looking for a plot of land to construct a mission house for the PENSA UCC Campus Minister, came up with the idea of using the plot of land to build a duplex storey building to accommodate both ministers.

The dedication ceremony had in attendance the Cape Coast Area pastorate and their spouses, Elder Daniel Quainoo (Area Deacon), Mrs. Margaret Serwaa Antwi (Wife of the Area Head), Deaconess Georgina Ashley (Area Women’s Ministry Leader), Nana Kwasi Mensah II (Chief of Kwaprow), and Farinyi Kweigya VII (Chief Fisherman of Moree).

Mile 3 District Retires 5 Deaconesses

The Mile 3 District in the New Tafo Area of The Church of Pentecost has honoured five retired deaconesses after years of exceptional and invaluable services to God and the Church at a special retirement service held on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at the Central Assembly auditorium.

They are Deaconesses Hannah Davies (47 years of service), Agnes Oppong Fosu (39 years of service), Comfort Anning (30 years of service), Agnes Akwaboah (18 years of service), and Patricia Adu Poku (14 years of service).

Speaking on the topic, “Privileges Of Being A Christian,” the New Tafo Area Head, Prophet Samuel Tetteh Doku, who officiated the service, read Psalm 103:1-5; 89:34 and expounded that it is a great honour for being a Christian, and a double honour to be an officer of The Church of Pentecost. He stressed the need for members and officers to be cognizant of this fact in order not to live their lives anyhow.

He bemoaned the situation, where some Christians take their calling for granted, especially when they are confronted with challenges and trials, and begin to denounce their faith in God, forgetting the power they wield to weather the storms of life.

He admonished Christians to be conscious of their position in God and know very well that God will never forsake His people, therefore, when things turn out to be horrendous, they must learn to trust the Lord.

Prophet Tetteh Doku lauded the retirees for their years of selfless service offered in God’s vineyard and urged them to keep living an exemplary life for the younger generations to emulate.

Citations and certificates of service were presented to the retirees whilst their profiles were being read.

Present at the service were Pastor Joseph Ankomako (Mile 3 District Minister), Pastor George Amesawu (Old Tafo District Minister) and their spouses, Apostle Isaac Kwasi Amoako (Rtd), and a section of the New Tafo Area Women’s Ministry Executive Members, among others.
