Pentecost University Launches Mortuary & Funeral Studies

Pentecost University Launches Mortuary & Funeral Studies

Pentecost University has successfully launched a certificate programme in Mortuary Science and Funeral Studies. This took place on the University’s main campus in Sowutuom, Accra, on Tuesday, November 22, 2022.

At the launch, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Kwabena Agyapong-Kodua, said: “we can’t fight death, but we can develop structures to minimise its associated agonies and preserve the dignity of our departed loved ones.”

Enumerating the rationale for the programme, the VC said there are environmental, cultural and epidemic risks in mortuary and funeral services hence the need for universities to support the regulators and enhance the skills of practitioners who mostly acquire their skills on the job.

On the preparedness of the Pentecost University to deliver, the VC said “we have pulled together the strength of 5 of our faculties to deliver a unique programme.”

He said the Faculty of Health and Allied Science would focus on the health side such as infection control and microbiology while the Faculty of Business Administration would teach students the business, finance, and customer service side of it.

“We realised there are legal implications, and this will be handled by experts from our Faculty of Law, whilst the cultural, psychosocial aspect of grief and pastoral dimension will be handled by our Pentecost School of Theology, Ministries and Leadership.

Not only that, the major engineering aspects associated with refrigeration, and decomposition will be handled by the Faculty of Engineering Sciences and Computing,” he added.

On the target students, Prof. Kwabena Agyapong-Kodua said the courses are suitable for the various categories of professionals in the death care value chain, including the Management and Entrepreneurial Class, Managers of Funeral Homes, Mortuaries, Mausoleum and Cemeteries. Others are the technical class which includes Morticians, Autopsy Assistants, and Presectors, and then the miscellaneous Group, which includes Mortuary Attendants, Embalmers, Pall Bearers, Hearse Drivers, Cemetery Keepers/Cisterns, Decorators, etc.

On his part, Mr Emmanuel Okyere, who represented the Head of Mortuaries and Funeral Facilities Agency of Ghana, Mr Matthew Kyeremeh, commended Pentecost University for starting the programme.

Referencing relevant portions of the MOFFA Act 2011 (Act 829) on training, Mr Okyere pledged the continuous support and partnership of the Agency with Pentecost University in “research and innovation to have a scientific basis to inform policymaking in the death care industry and also build the capacity of staff to provide quality training and service.”

In throwing light on the programme, the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Health and Allied Sciences of Pentecost University, Dr Ebenezer Appiah-Denkyira, said it is going to be intensive. He enumerated some of the courses, which include pathology, microbial morphology, anatomy, and embalming.

He also emphasised the application of technology and social care in the training and assured that the university is well-positioned to deliver the programme.

Pentecost University as part of its University A+ vision seeks to provide solutions to all aspects of human problems. This includes developing programmes and projects in otherwise unconventional but relevant areas for national development.

International Missions Seminar Held

As part of the Vision 2023 strategic direction of The Church of Pentecost, the International Missions Directorate of the church has organised a seminar for all Missionaries, Missionary Attachees, National Heads, Regional Heads, and Area Heads in the external branches of the church.
The International Missions Director (IMD) of the church, Apostle Emmanuel Agyemang Bekoe, said that after every Heads’ Meeting, the International Missions Office organises a seminar to help the national leaders to understand the topics treated.
The seminar was held on Monday, November 21, 2022, at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh, near Kasoa in the Central Region of Ghana.
Speaking on the topic, “Missional Approach to Language Specific Migrants,” the IMD said that people migrate for different reasons such as for greener pastures or just wanting to be adventurous, saying, “When people migrate, they do so with their culture, language, food, way of life and clothing.”
He disclosed that when people migrate with their culture, they normally look for people who speak their language to relate with. He, therefore, urged missionaries to be open-minded and have a language-specific approach to missions.
Apostle Agyemang Bekoe explained that in reaching out to migrants, migrant communities must be intentionally targeted with the gospel. He also called on leaders to be sensitive to the language of migrants who are found in the church, and train and equipped them to take up leadership roles in the church.
Apostle Dr. Daniel Okyere Walker, the Tarkwa Area Head, who doubles as the Co-ordinator for the Western Regional Co-ordinating Committee and Executive Council Member, called on the missionaries to strive to build a multicultural church in the various nations.
“A multicultural church is where people are respected irrespective of culture and race. It is not always the easiest church to pastor because it requires extra work from the minister,” he said.
Speaking on the topic, “Becoming a Multicultural Church,” Apostle Dr. Walker mentioned that a multicultural church is where people of different nationalities and cultures come to worship. According to him, worshippers are free to worship in their own languages and every person is treated and given the same opportunity.
He stressed that the church that becomes multicultural does not just happen due to some efforts needed in fulfilling it. These efforts, he stated, must be done in leadership, liturgy, preaching and teaching; praises and music; language and communication; and social activities.
Interacting with the national leaders, the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, implored them to be innocently wise so far as the world is concerned since they are sent as sheep among wolves.
“The devil’s strongest power is his ability to deceive man because he is the combination of wisdom and lies. Therefore, when you are dealing with him, you need wisdom,” he stated.
Apostle Nyamekye noted that though issues and challenges may come, their ability to overcome them would determine the extent of their success, stating, “The need for wisdom becomes critical when you lead people.”
He added: “Wise people work in some particular ways to achieve an end. Learn and read books but don’t conclude on what you are being told because there is more God can teach you.”
Touching on the need for leaders to seek wisdom, Apostle Nyamekye said that wisdom is the principal thing of all human desires. He stressed that wisdom is the first of God’s creation and it needs to be investigated. He also said that wisdom is the foundation upon which things are established.
Other speakers were Apostle Dr. Christian Tsekpoe (Director, Post Graduate Studies and Research Directorate, Pentecost University), Apostle Lawrence Otu-Nyarko (Finance and Administrative Director, Headquarters), Pastor Elvis Nate Nague (Cyprus National Head), Pastor Paul Odai Laryea (IT Manager, Headquarters), and Pastor Morgan (Head of IT, COP-USA).
The International Missions Directorate also honoured eight former missionaries who had ended their missions duty. They were Apostle Isaac Anane-Sarfo (Argentina from 2015 to 2022); Apostle Yao Semanya Dogbe (D.R. Congo from 2015 to 2022); Apostle Michael Agyen Brefo (Gabon from 2018 to 2022); Pastor Ulrick Desire (Haiti from 2019 to 2022); Pastor Samuel Jojo Forson (Jamaica from 2018 to 2022); Apostle Daniel Mireku Gyamera (Madagascar from 2017 to 2022); Apostle Dr. Dieudonne Komla Nuekpe (South Korea from 2015 to 2022), and Pastor Francis Agyemang Badu (Rwanda from 2015 to 2022).

We Are All Together In Building The Church – Apostle Nyamekye Tells Members

We Are All Together In Building The Church – Apostle Nyamekye Tells Members

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamkye, has called on all members of the church to join forces together and be connected in building the local church for God.

According to the Chairman, the church is a global church selling the same products, therefore, members should avoid segregating themselves from each other because of the language differences or services held.

“The strategic direction of The Church of Pentecost is to become a global Pentecostal church that is culturally relevant in vibrant evangelism, church planting, discipleship and holistic ministry,” he stated.

Apostle Nyamekye made this call on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), Kaneshie.

Speaking on the rationale of the 2023 theme of the church, Apostle Nyamekye said that the local church when repositioned will become a serious threat to the enemy and will afford the church the success in possessing the nations, saying, “The strength of the Church lies with the local church where real practical ministry exist.”

He added: “The local church is therefore expected to be a vibrant centre for equipping members to possess the nations.”

He stressed that for the local church to be as strong as an army, it must be in good shape in terms of attendance at church and involvement in all church activities. He, therefore, urged church leaders to contribute more to support their communities in the ‘Possessing the Nations’ agenda.

Comparing the church to an army, he cautioned that when fighting battles (situations), members should be careful of the rear (back) because the enemy can attack from behind any time they are faced with difficult situations in life.

The Chairman admonished that in the church if it is realized that someone is financially challenged, the local church must make efforts to support the individual so that together everyone grows stronger.

The theme for next year is, “Repositioning the Local Church for Maximum Impact in the Nations” and it is centered on the following scriptural verses: 1 Thess. 2:19-20 & Col. 2:6-7.

He further admonished that every local church must set achievable targets for the year. This, he hoped, would drive them on in taking territories for the kingdom of God.

Apostle Nyamekye further encouraged church leaders to teach the members how to give sacrificially and tithe since the strength of the church greatly relies on the members.

He urged members to devote themselves to personal devotions in their homes. The home, according to him, is the first church and a seminary.

“If we all decide to build our homes it will strengthen the local church in making an impact in our society,” he noted.

PIWC-Sakumono Women’s Ministry Visits School For The Deaf

The Women’s Ministry of the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC) Sakumono, has embarked on a Chaplaincy/Evangelism outreach to the Tetteh Ocloo State School for the Deaf, located at Adjei Kojo, near Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region.

The visit, which took place on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, was part of the aggressive evangelism embarked on by the church in November.

The Resident Minister for PIWC-Sakumono, Pastor Solomon Kwasi Kyei, who accompanied the women encouraged the students not to look at their limitations in life but to serve the Lord in any capacity they can.

He read from 1 Samuel 7:9 and urged the students to know that the Lord is with them in every endeavour of their lives and that the Lord will cut off all those who are against them and make their names great.

On her part, the District Women’s Ministry Leader for PIWC-Sakumono, Deaconess Isabella Gyau Orhin, admonished the students to see the God Almighty as their helper.

“Everybody needs a helper: Parents help children and older siblings also assist younger ones,” she said, adding, “Our greatest helper is God, he loves us and wants to help us from our sins.”

Deaconess Orhin read from Isaiah 54:10, Psalm 3:3, and Hebrews 13:6, among other scriptures, and encouraged the students not to be afraid but to hold on and rely on God who is their refuge and strength and ever-present help in times of trouble.

According to the headmaster of the school, Mr Isaac Arthur, the school has been in existence since 1965. It was previously located in Osu and since 2000, it moved to its current location, Adjei Kojo, he said.

Mr Arthur indicated that the founder of the school, Dr. Seth Lawrence Tetteh-Ocloo, was the first deaf African to graduate from the university and founded the Ghana National Association of the Deaf.

He thanked the leadership of the church for the kind gesture. He, however, asked for more visitation and support in terms of food items for the students.

The state school for the deaf is purely a government boarding school with about 330 students. Some of them have multiple disabilities aside from being deaf. In all, the school has about 41 teachers who teach from lower primary to junior high and vocational departments such as hairdressing, carpentry, Information Communication Technology, Kente weaving, and catering services, among others.

The Local Church Is Where The Real Action Is! - General Secretary On 2023 Theme

The Local Church Is Where The Real Action Is! – General Secretary On 2023 Theme

The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, has stated that the newly-unveiled theme of the Church places a great deal of emphasis on the local church because it is the strength of the Church and the place where real practical ministry and congregational life take place.

“Actual church membership is found at the local level; district and area membership are only a culmination of membership at the local level. So, the real action is at the local church; this is why we are going back to the grassroots,” he said.

Apostle Kumi-Larbi said this today when he shared the rationale for the Church’s 2023 theme – “Repositioning the Local Church for Maximum Impact in the Nations” (1 Thessalonians 2:19-20 and Colossians 2:6-7) with members of the Atomic Hills Central Assembly.

In his presentation, the General Secretary explained that the annual themes of The Church of Pentecost in the last four years were carefully chosen by the leadership of the Church as building blocks towards realising the five-year strategic vision of the Church, dubbed: “Vision 2023: Possessing the Nations.”

He said that the 2023 theme, the last of Vision 2023, is a continuation of the previous themes, all targeted at equipping and unleashing members into the world as change agents.

Reading 1 Samuel 30:1-25, Apostle Kumi-Larbi explained how David and his men returned from battle to find their camp at Ziklag raided by the Amalekites. Subsequently, David saw the need to deploy some of his men to guard the camp while the others go for battle.

He said that the leadership of the Church has taken a cue from David’s case, and has therefore made this conscious effort to strengthen the local church, which is the strength base of the Church.

“We do not want to only focus on the front line, but also pay critical attention to our rear, which is the local church. The evangelism outreaches and social interventions are our front-line efforts; however, the local church is our rear. This is why we are repositioning her for maximum impact,” he said.

The General Secretary further explained that repositioning the local church, means creating the needed atmosphere for church members to be built up and made sharper for the task of influencing society with the principles, values and lifestyle of the kingdom of God.

He, therefore, called on church leaders, particularly ministers and officers, to be intentional about grounding members in the Lord, equipping them with the needed resources and unleashing them into the world for maximum impacts.

“The local church is expected to be a vibrant centre for equipping members to possess the nations,” he said.

The Chief Scribe also threw more light on the eight sub-themes that have been adopted to guide church leaders in their efforts to achieve the desired set goals under the 2023 theme. The topics are: “Stoking the Fire of the Holy Spirit,” “Living in the Fear of God in the Local Church,” “The Local Church as a Family,” “The Local Church Upholding the Value of Godliness,” “Sacrificial Giving and Tithing,” “The Local Church in Evangelism,” “Visitation in the Local Church,” “Raising Family Altars to Strengthen the Local Church: Lessons from the Puritans,” and “Encouraging Personal Devotions and Small Group Prayer Meetings to Strengthen the Local Church.”

There Is Hope After Death In Christ – Apostle Nyamekye Declares

There Is Hope After Death In Christ – Apostle Nyamekye Declares

“Death makes nonsense of everything, but there is hope after death in Christ.”

These were the words of the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye when speaking at the funeral service of the late Pastor James Andoh Kwaw (Rtd) at the Manso Amenfi Methodist School Park, on Saturday, November 19, 2022.

According to Chairman Nyamekye, death does not do any good to a household but rather devastates families.

Apostle Nyamekye who based his sermon on 1 Corinthians 15:58, called on Christians  to be steadfast and immovable with the hope that when they die they will appear before the throne of God.

He, however, examined that Apostle Paul did not talk about the outcome of death because death is unexplainable, but he rather talked about the resurrection.

“God uses death to work out things on earth,” he said, adding, “Hold onto the Word so that you don’t lose your faith when death comes to your household. Death is one of the things that can challenge our faith.”

The Chairman observed that there are certain common issues humans know about death. The first is that death is objective and subjective and that the only thing humans know about it is ‘everyone will die.’

The second, he noted, is that death stings and is painful. “The pains cannot be healed by doctors, but it is in the soul. Only God can console the family,” he said.

Apostle Nyamekye also noted that death brings out fear in humans, stressing that, death is a serious matter and an enemy.

The service was officiated by the Asankragwa Area Head, Apostle Daniel Kweku Dekpor, with support from ministers of the Church, including Apostle Vincent Anane Denteh (Director, PEMEM); Apostle Samuel Osei Asante (Kaneshie Area), the Asankragwa Area pastorates and some retired ministers.

Tributes

A tribute read on behalf of the General Council by Apostle Vincent Anane Denteh (PEMEM Director and Executive Council Member) described the late minister as a great man of God and a man with an unalloyed passion for the things of God.

“Pastor Andoh Kwaw was an easy-going type and a collaborator who could work with everyone regardless of one’s status. His affable demeanour endeared him to many people – no wonder he gained many accolades, such as ‘Man-Finish-Man.”

The children, in their tribute, recounted the loving memories they had with their father.

“We recall how he gave us ‘hot lashes’ one Sunday morning, just because we were running late for Sunday School. He was strict about who we had as friends. He did not hesitate to chase the wrong company away from us,” they said.

Profile of Pastor James Andoh Kwaw (Rtd)

Born on March 27, 1950 to Opanin Kojo Andoh Kwaw and Maame Akua Bayo, both of blessed memory, James Andoh Kwaw was a native of Manso Amenfi, near Asankrangwa in the Western Region.

He attended Manso Amenfi Roman Catholic Primary and Middle Schools from 1956-1965. He gained admission into Tarkwa Secondary School and Bimbila Training College simultaneously. However, his late sister, Elizabeth Andoh Kwaw, who was to sponsor his education, was taken sorely ill so he could not further his studies at the time. He joined Kumasi Brewery Limited as a messenger from 1967 to 1970 and rose to the position of Time Clerk.

To enable him further his education, he enrolled as a private student at the Kumasi Worker’s College. After two years, he joined the Crop Production Division of the Ministry of Agriculture. He was among the pioneers who were trained in pineapple production at Kuntunse in the Greater-Accra Region and was posted to Brekuso as the acting Headman till a substantive Foreman took over in 1972.

After a seemingly disappointing life, James planned to take his own life but in 1980, in a midday dream, he saw Jesus Christ. This encounter with the Lord led him to join The Church of Pentecost. He was baptized by the late Pastor A. K. Miah (now a retired Apostle) in 1981 at Asuofua.

He was called into full-time ministry in The Church of Pentecost in 1991. He served in four stations, namely Yeji (1991-1996), Agona Swedru (1996-2003), La (2003-2010), and Old Tafo (2010-2015).

After retirement, Pastor Kwaw was actively involved in the running of the church in Manso Amenfi where he settled. He heeded to a prophecy he received on the day of his retirement, that although he was bringing his active ministry years to an end, he still had a lot of work to do.

Pastor James Andoh Kwaw is survived by five children.

Members Of The Church Are Our Greatest Resource – Apostle Agyemang Bekoe Avers

Members Of The Church Are Our Greatest Resource – Apostle Agyemang Bekoe Avers

The International Missions Director of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Emmanuel Agyemang Bekoe, has observed that members are the strength and the greatest resource of the church.

According to him, the 2023 theme of the church: “Repositioning the Local Church for Maximum Impact in the Nations” – Colossians 2:6-7 & 1 Thessalonians 2:19-20, the church intends to focus on the local church which, he said, is the support base of the church.

Speaking at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), Sakumono in the Teshie-Nungua Area on Sunday, November 20, 2022, as part of the 2022 Heads’ Meeting Apostolisation, the International Missions Director gave an overview of next year’s theme.

Reading from 1 Samuel 30:1-6; 23-25 & 1 Chronicles 19:10-15, he said David and his men went to war, and in their absence, their enemies raided their base and took away everything they had.

Referring to 1 Chronicles 19, he said Joab, the army commander, on the other hand, devised a good strategy and deployed Abishai at his back to protect his rear. This, he said, helped them to win the battle.

Apostle Agyemang Bekoe noted that the  leadership of the church does not want to lose sight of the schemes of the enemy and, therefore, wants to strengthen its base, thus the local church so that even as the church goes on outreaches, it will equally pay attention on the members, saying, “The same attention given to the fighting force must be given to the support division, which is the local church.”

He said that the time has come for the church to be strategic and tactical as it is becoming more nationally and internationally prominent so that the enemy will not take it by surprise.

He mentioned some of the topics to be treated under the theme as: Raising Family Altars to Strengthen the Local Church; Visitation in the Local Church; Encouraging Personal Devotion and Small Groups Prayer Meetings to Strengthen the Local Church; Sacrificial Giving and Tithing; Stoking the Fire of the Holy Spirit – Living in the Fear of God in the Local Church; The Local Church Upholding the Value of Godliness, and Repositioning the Local Church for Evangelism.

Apostle Emmanuel Agyemang Bekoe, who visited with his wife Deborah, ended his ministration with an impartation session, leading the church in prophetic prayers.

Earlier in the service, the Chief Executive Officer of Strategic Communications Africa Limited (STRACOMM Africa), Madam Esther Cobbah, educated the church on the impending Ghana Garden and Flower Show which is expected to take place from December 8-12, 2022 at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park.

She called on Ghanaians, especially Christians to spread the love of God by cultivating flowers in their surroundings to live in a green world which, according to her, is healthier.

Present at the service was the Resident Minister, Pastor Solomon Kyei, and his wife, among others.

Emotional Scenes As Mrs. Hannah Osei-Korsah Is Laid To Rest

Apostle Phillip Osei-Korsah, who heads the Counselling Ministry of The Church of Pentecost, broke down in uncontrollable tears as he filed past the remains of his beloved late wife, Hannah.

Mrs. Hannah Osei-Korsah, 48, whose sudden home call on October 31, 2022 left a bad taste in the mouth of relatives and friends, was laid to rest today after a memorial service was held in her honour at the Akweteyman school park.

The memorial service, which drew a mammoth gathering of mourners, was officiated by the General Secretary of the Church, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, with the help of other Executive Council Members, namely; Apostle Emmanuel Agyemang-Bekoe (International Missions Director), Apostle Yaw Adjei-Kwarteng (Bompata Area Head), Apostle Dr. Daniel Walker (Tarkwa Area Head), and Apostle Dr. Dela Quampah (Ho Area Head).

The others were Apostle S. Y. Antwi (Cape Coast Area Head), Apostle Mike Etrue (Koforidua Area Head) and Prophet David Kankam (Ashaiman Area Head).

In a touching tribute to his late spouse, Apostle Osei-Korsah described Mrs. Hannah Osei-Korsah as a loving wife, Christian mother and a great counsellor.

He also praised her for playing an instrumental role in his life and ministry since their marital union 22 years ago and call into full-time ministry for the past 20 years.

“Death has laid its icy hands on my beloved Hannah. I loved and cherished her, but God loves her best. Heaven is our home, that is the summary of our ministry. If she has gotten there, then I am happy for her,” he said.

The children, describing their mother as “a sister and friend,” touted her exceptional home management abilities, generosity and hardworking nature, and thanked her for making a positive impact in their lives.

“We know she is resting in the Lord’s bosom, reuniting with her mom and dad. We know she is happy where she is and that is our hope and joy,” the tribute read.

The General Council also commiserated with the bereaved families, particularly the widower and their five children, in a tribute read at the event by Apostle Dr. Daniel Walker.

The Church commended the late minister’s wife for her hard work and dedication to the work of ministry.

“Undoubtedly, The Church of Pentecost has lost a virtuous woman who has made a mark in ministry, even in a relatively short period,” the tribute read.

Until her passing, Mrs. Hannah Osei-Korsah, a professionally trained teacher, served as the Headteacher of the Apewosika M/A Basic school in the Axim South Circuit in the Western Region of Ghana.

Some officials of the Nzema East Municipal Education Directorate of the Ghana Education Service,  therefore, graced the event to pay their respect to their departed colleague.

They eulogised Mrs. Osei-Korsah for her tremendous contribution to the Apewosika school, in particular, and the Directorate during her four-year stay in Axim (2018 to 2022).

In contrast to the sorrowful scenes that characterised the beginning of the service, the gathering launched into a time of spontaneous praise, singing songs of the resurrection, after the outpouring of tributes.

This was followed by an encouraging sermon titled “God Meant It For Good” by Prophet David Kankam Beditor based on Genesis 50:19-21.

Interspersing his sermon with humour, Prophet Kankam advised Christians not to question God’s intentions in times of great misfortune.

He urged them to always be resolute in faith and trust that God works all things for the benefit of His people.

The Ashaiman Area Head also noted that, for Christian who await the hope of the resurrection in Christ Jesus, death is only rest from the painful toil of this world.

He, therefore, called on all those who are yet to accept Christ as their Lord and personal Saviour to surrender their lives to Him so that they would also enjoy eternal life in Him.

Present at the event were a host of ministers of the Church comprising national heads, area heads and district pastors, as well as officers, church members and other sympathisers.

Pursue Godliness – Apostle Zabre Tells Christians

Pursue Godliness – Apostle Zabre Tells Christians

The Burkina Faso National Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Osmane Patinde Zabre, has called on Christians to pursue godliness as they await the imminent second coming of Christ and his judgement of mankind.

He indicated that godliness is living an exemplary Christian life through which unbelievers can be convicted to the saving knowledge of Christ.

“We cannot give to the world what we don’t have. We are called to set our light to shine before men, that they may see our good works and glorify our father which is in heaven (Mt. 5:16),” he stated. He added that Christ will definitely return to judge humanity of their deeds and that godliness would be a critical indicator on judgement day.

Apostle Zabre, who is an Executive Council Member and Chairman for the West African Francophone Bloc of the Church, made the call when he delivered a paper on: “The Local Church Upholding the Value of Godliness,” on Friday morning at the Heads’ Meeting of The Church of Pentecost at the Pentecost Convention Centre, Gomoa Fetteh, near Kasoa.

He noted that the local church should not be a religious fraternity that would be complicit in all manner of things, saying, “Conversion without conviction means nothing. The church must be the epicenter of godliness and righteousness.”

He indicated that godliness implies a devotion to God which ultimately leads to a life pleasing and acceptable to Him. He added that godliness can be viewed as the quality or practice of conforming to the laws and wishes of God as set out in the Bible.

“There is no higher compliment that can be paid to a Christian than to call him a godly person. He might be a conscientious parent, a zealous church worker, a dynamic spokesman for Christ, or a talented Christian leader, but none of these things matters if, at the same time, he is not a godly person,” he pointed out.

The Burkina Faso National Head also observed that members of the local church ought to be the salt and light of the locality within which they exist.

“As salt is a preservative against corruption, light is to expose corruption. Our good works must show the world the way of godliness as against their ungodliness,” he stressed.

He further indicated that godliness is a requirement of grace and a Christian principle manifested in power given by God.

According to him, godliness comes with persecution, sufferings but the Lord God shall rescue believers from them.

He concluded by saying that knowledge of God, transformed life, the love of God, and the power of the cross are the brook of godliness that all believers should yearn for to lead godly lives.
