As part of the implementation of Vision 2023 of The Church of Pentecost, the Church has cut the sod for the construction of a holding facility for the Ghana Prisons Service at Ejura Nkwanta in the Ashanti Region.

The facility has an administration block, dormitories, kitchen, and football field, among others.

The Asante-Mampong Area Head of the Church, Prophet Foster Kwasi Aniakwaa, presenting an address on behalf of the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, stated that as part of the Church’s transformational agenda, it is partnering with the government to provide Police Stations, Prisons facilities, CHPS compounds, bore holes and many others to several communities in the country.

According to the Chairman, the holding facility at the Ejura Prisons is expected to be completed in six months. He applauded the Ejurahene [the Chief of Ejura], Barima Osei Hwidie II, who doubles as an elder of the Church for donating a large tract of land to the Prisons Service.

The Deputy Director General of the Ghana Prisons Service, Mr. R. K. Rabbles, could not help but commend The Church of Pentecost for their wonderful partnership with the Prisons Service. He stated that the project will go a long way to boost the operations of the Ghana Prisons Service.

The Deputy Director General also commended Dr. Oduro Boateng, an elder of the Church, for providing free health care for the inmates, having registered all the inmates onto the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). He further appreciated the Ejurahene for giving a 640-acre land to the Ghana Prisons Service for the project and for agricultural purposes.

The Ejurahene, Barima Osei Hwidie II, in his remarks, appreciated the works of The Church of Pentecost. He was also grateful to Dr. Oduro Boateng who has decided to solely connect pipe borne water to the facility.

The chief announced that the Ejura Traditional Council would provide a large poly tank to the facility. The Mampong Area of the Church also donated a 40 inch flat screen TV set to the Ejura Prisons.

The Municipal Chief Executive of the Ejura-Sekyeredumase Municipality, Hon. Mohammed Salisu Bamba, on behalf of the President of the Republic, thanked The Church of Pentecost and the Ejurahene for their efforts.

The MCE admonished the Prisons Administration to employ modern technology to make judicious use of the land and bring forth enough produce.

Preaching the sermon at the ceremony on the topic, “Be Part of Righteous Acts” based on Acts 10:38, the Chaplain General of the Ghana Prisons Service, Apostle (ADP) James Tetteh, encouraged Ghanaians to do good and righteous acts. He stated that Jesus came with the anointing to do good, proclaim liberty to prisoners, and set the captives free. He entreated all and sundry to do good to people without expecting anything in return.

He also stated that Jesus came to demonstrate the character of God to humanity. “He forgave the sins of the world, fed the hungry, and provided for the thirsty,” he said.

The Chaplain General indicated that what God requires from His people is to help the vulnerable. “He requires that we would do good without expecting anything in return,” he added.

Also in attendance were the Finance and Administration Director of The Church of Pentecost, Pastor Dr. Nicholas Darko; the Projects, Development & Estate Manager of the Church, Pastor James Agyin, a high-powered delegation from the Ghana Prisons Service, the Ghana Police Service, chiefs from the Ejura Traditional Council, the clergy, among others.
