The 2019 All Officers Retreat popularly known as “Apostolisation” of the Teshie-Nungua Area of The Church of Pentecost has opened at the Pentecost Convention Centre, Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region.
The four-day retreat, which started on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, is due to end on Saturday, February 16, 2019. The retreat is being attended by officers and lay leaders in the Area. Apostles Kwesi Ackah-Baidoo (Rtd) and Emmanuel Ofei Ankra-Badu, are the main speakers of the retreat.
The Area Head, Apostle Dr. Alfred Koduah, said the retreat is to deepen the spiritual standards of the church leaders and also to usher them into the new level of commitment to the Lord. It is also to enlighten participants on the annual theme of the church.
In his opening sermon, the Director of the Pentecost Men’s Ministry (PEMEM), Apostle Emmanuel Ofei Ankra-Badu, admonished believers to desist from visiting and patronising the services of false teachers.
Preaching on the topic, “The Church that Jesus Built,” Apostle Ankra-Badu said the Church Jesus built has four things which are: the right members, the right message, the right mission and the right master.
According to him, believing in Jesus leads to a sense of belonging in Him. He, therefore, encouraged Christians to believe, behave, belong and be like the Lord Jesus Christ.
He indicated that every society has rules and regulations of becoming a member, saying, “If you want to be Christian, you need to obey the laws of the Lord Jesus Christ by first believing in Him.”
Apostle Ankra-Badu quoted 1 Corinthians 5:7 and explained that believing in the Lord Jesus Christ leads to belonging to Him. “If you say you believe in Jesus, you do not have to stay home; you need to meet with the brethren for fellowship,” he said, adding, “You cannot meet the requirement of Jesus if your speech or character does not depict Christ in you.”
Quoting Romans 1:18, the PEMEM Director urged all Christians to go into the world to preach the good news of salvation and not to be ashamed of the gospel. He also urged Christians to improve upon their worship during services.
“Anytime our worship pleases God, the Holy Spirit leaves a signature; it is an opportunity to offer praise and worship to God,” he said.
