The Newtown District under the Tema Area of The Church of Pentecost has provided financial and material support to families affected by recent flooding in the community.
The relief intervention, held on Sunday, August 9, 2026, was organised under the leadership of the District Minister, Pastor Timothy Afum Adipah, and the district executive committee to help affected church members and residents cope with losses resulting from the floods.
The recent torrential rains caused flooding in parts of Tema Newtown, leaving several homes inundated and resulting in the destruction of household belongings and other personal property. Some families were also displaced, creating significant financial and emotional difficulties for affected households.
In response, the district mobilised resources to provide immediate assistance to those whose homes and livelihoods were affected.
Each beneficiary received a financial relief package to help meet urgent needs, including basic household expenses and minor repairs, as well as essential household items. The packages included food supplies, hygiene products and other domestic necessities.
Speaking at the presentation, Pastor Timothy Afum Adipah said the intervention reflected the Church’s commitment to demonstrating the love of Christ through practical support for people in need.
“True ministry extends beyond the pulpit; it is felt in our willingness to wipe away the tears of those who suffer.”
He described the assistance as a modest expression of God’s love and encouraged the affected families not to lose hope as they work to rebuild their lives.
Some beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the district leadership for the timely intervention, saying the support would help ease the burden created by the floods.
The initiative forms part of the district’s broader pastoral and community support efforts as affected households continue with clean-up and rehabilitation activities.
The Tema Newtown District has pledged to continue providing spiritual, moral and material support to affected families as they work towards recovery.
