The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, has urged Christians to remain steadfast in their faith during difficult times, cautioning them against despair and encouraging them to trust God’s wisdom, leadership and ability to deliver them from seemingly impossible situations.
He gave the exhortation on Friday, October 9, 2026, when he ministered at the Weija Area’s power-packed all-night service held at the New Weija Central Assembly Auditorium. He was accompanied by his wife, Mrs Juliana Korkor Obuobi.
Preaching on the theme, “Lessons at the Red Sea,” based on Exodus 14:10–18, Apostle Obuobi drew lessons from the Israelites’ experience after their deliverance from Egypt, when they found themselves trapped between the Red Sea and the pursuing Egyptian army.
He explained that although the Israelites perceived their situation as hopeless, God knew exactly where He was leading them and how He would deliver them. He noted that God deliberately led them towards the Red Sea despite knowing the challenges ahead, underscoring the need for believers to trust His leadership even when they cannot understand His ways.
According to him, Christians must trust God because He is all-wise and all-knowing, sees beyond human limitations and desires the best for His people. Citing Jeremiah 29:11 and Psalm 23:1–3, he emphasised that God’s guidance is purposeful and that believers must remain confident in His plans even when their circumstances suggest otherwise.
Apostle Obuobi also cautioned Christians to be mindful of their attitude when confronted with trials. Referring to the Israelites’ complaints against Moses out of fear, he urged believers not to surrender to despair but to look beyond their challenges and, by faith, focus on the God who has called them.
He cited Job as an example of steadfastness in adversity, recalling that despite losing his possessions and children, Job did not sin or accuse God of wrongdoing.
The General Secretary further stressed that leaders must offer encouragement rather than discouragement, especially during difficult seasons. Drawing from Moses’ response to the fearful Israelites in Exodus 14:13–14, he explained that leaders must know the God they serve and remain confident in Him to inspire hope in others.
He also urged Christians to move forward in faith, referencing God’s instruction to Moses in Exodus 14:15: “Tell the people of Israel to go forward.” He explained that moving forward requires taking steps of faith even when the way ahead appears uncertain.
Apostle Obuobi assured believers that God is never taken by surprise by the challenges they encounter. He illustrated this with the account of Jesus feeding the five thousand in John 6:1–6, noting that Jesus already knew what He would do before asking Philip where food could be obtained for the crowd.
He encouraged Christians to remain hopeful, maintain the right attitude in adversity and keep moving forward in faith, trusting that God remains in control even when the way ahead appears impossible.
