The 2019 edition of the Pan African Conference For Children’s Ministers was officially launched at a colourful ceremony on Friday (March 1, 2019) at the AH Hotel in Accra.
Among the dignitaries who graced the event were: Apostle David Tekper (Achimota Area Head and Executive Council Member), Apostle Prophet Benjamin Augustus Adobah (Former Children’s Director and a retired minister of the Church), Apostle Emmanuel Ofei Ankra Badu (PEMEM Director), Mrs. Grace Lucy Yeboah Asuama (Women’s Director), and Mrs. Catherine Ashong (Calvary Baptist Church) as well as other ministers within and outside the Church. Also present were representatives of SOS Children’s Village Ghana, AWANA Ghana and some child workers at the various levels of the Church.
The conference was launched by Apostle David Tekper on behalf of the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye..
Addressing the gathering at the event, the Children’s Director, Apostle Fred Tiakor, observed with concern the increasing rate at which ungodly behaviours and lifestyles such as homosexuality, have become widespread in the contemporary world.
He noted that children in this dispensation ought to be protected from these emerging vices so as to be well grounded in the Christian faith.
Delivering his remarks at the event, Apostle David Tekper stated that children are important because they are the seeds of the future. He said that, as seeds, they require to be nurtured in order for them to grow well and be productive.
On his part, the Administrative Secretary to the General Secretary, Pastor Abraham Addae Agyemang, who represented the General Secretary, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, at the event, quoted Matthew 18:1-6 to emphasize that children are very special to God.
He, therefore, stated that “Children’s Ministers are equally special because it is written that anyone who welcomes children welcomes Jesus Christ.”
He, however, cautioned that since children are very vulnerable, God expects them to be protected and grounded in the Christian faith, adding that: “It is very dangerous to cause a child to stumble.”
The Pan African Conference for Children’s Ministers is a non-denominational gathering of all Child workers across the African continent to equip them and build their capacity in order to be abreast with contemporary issues confronting children and how to deal with them.
