The Youth Ministry of The Church of Pentecost in the Twifo Praso District, has held an impactful youth picnic as part of activities leading up to the 2026 National Youth Week Celebration.
The event, held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the Twifo Praso Senior High School, brought together young people for a day of fellowship, recreation, learning and spiritual renewal.
The programme featured team-building activities, including group formations, leadership selection and an interactive session dubbed “What Do You Know About Your Friend?” Participants also engaged in traditional Ghanaian games, an aerobics session, dancing activities and other recreational exercises.
A major highlight of the picnic was an educative session on “Evangelism Through Media” delivered by Elder Eric Sarpong.
Elder Sarpong encouraged the youth to leverage digital platforms to spread the Gospel, stressing that social media has become an integral part of the lives of young people.
He urged them to share testimonies, create short Bible-based videos and identify appropriate digital platforms for communicating the Gospel.
He, however, cautioned the youth against spreading false information and creating messages they could not adequately explain. He also advised them to maintain a healthy balance in their screen time.
The youth also received career and personal development guidance from Madam Aba Dorothy, who spoke on the topic “After School, What Next?”
She identified paid employment and entrepreneurship as two major pathways young people could pursue after school, noting that both could be achieved through further education and skills development.
Madam Dorothy encouraged the youth to set SMART goals—Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time-bound—and cultivate attributes such as diligence, resilience, teachability and a willingness to serve.
She further urged them to invest in personal development, read widely, upgrade their skills and respect everyone irrespective of their social or economic status.
The picnic concluded with various fun activities, including “Apple Bites and Toss and Eat,” followed by a powerful Holy Ghost prayer session led by the District Pastor, Pastor Frank Larbi.
The programme was attended by Pastor Frank Larbi and his wife, Mrs Abigail Larbi; Pastor Jonathan Oman and his wife; Deaconess Abigail Appiah, Area Assistant Women’s Ministry Leader; Elder Nathaniel Kwame Fio; Elder Joseph Owusu Tieku, District Youth Leader; Deaconess Gloria Adupong; Elder Joshua Impraim; Elder Timothy; Deacon Stephen; and other youth executives.
The event served as both a recreational and spiritual platform to prepare the youth to actively participate in the National Youth Week Celebration and to challenge them to make Christ known in their schools, online spaces and communities.
