Musicians in the Twifo Praso Area of The Church of Pentecost have undergone a one-day training programme aimed at equipping them with the theological understanding and practical skills needed to make music an effective tool for worship, mission and evangelism.
The training, organised in line with a programme by the National Music Committee, was held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the Twifo Praso Asikafo Assembly Auditorium.
Pastor Seth Offei Badu, a member of the National Music Committee, served as the guest facilitator, while Pastor Isaiah Katakyi chaired the programme on behalf of the Area Head, Apostle Lawrence Otu-Nyarko.
Held on the theme, “Worshipping God in Spirit and Truth” (John 4:23–24), the programme sought to help participants appreciate the theological basis of music in mission, explore music as a tool for evangelism, and understand the importance of contextual worship within Ghanaian and global settings.
It also focused on the music model of The Church of Pentecost, practical skills for effective music ministry, and strategic and policy-oriented thinking at various levels of the Church.
Topics treated included “Harnessing Music for Mission,” “Theological, Cultural and Practical Framework for Church Transformation,” “Effective Music Ministry in the Church,” and “The Music Leader as a Spiritual Leader.”
Speaking on the topic, “When Sound Becomes Ministry” (2 Chronicles 5:13), the Twifo Hemang District Pastor, Rev. James McKeown Safo, emphasised the importance of spiritual preparation in music ministry.
He explained that God was interested in quality sound when it came from musicians who had sanctified themselves and dedicated their lives to Him and His service.
Rev. McKeown Safo therefore encouraged the musicians to remain prayerful and spiritually prepared so that their collective sound would be pleasing to God.
He further cautioned them against using church programmes as platforms to display their equipment, talents and skills, stressing that their primary responsibility was to serve God and humanity.
“Listen to the congregation as well as one another during church service, and learn to protect the pulpit by avoiding unnecessary noise so as to help hold impactful activities in the church,” he said.
The main facilitators included Pastor Seth Offei Badu and the Area Music Committee Leader, Pastor Michael Osei.
The programme was attended by the Area Secretary, Pastor Paul Mensah; pastors in the Area and their spouses; Assistant Area Music Committee Leader, Elder Joshua Impraim; and other leaders and participants.
