Apostle Onyinah Gyamfi, the Bogoso Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, and a team of church ministers and their wives in the Bogoso Area, yesterday visited the explosion site at Apiate as well as the victims at the hospital, to pray for them and encourage the relatives of the deceased.
A vehicle transporting mining explosives caught fire at the small town of Apiate on Thursday afternoon and exploded about 15 minutes later, causing devastating destruction to lives and properties. The explosion split the main road in half, resulting in a deep valley in the middle.
One of the church’s buildings was also demolished due to the explosion. Some church members are also believed to be injured or dead. Both the dead and the injured have been transported to the morgue, as well as nearby hospitals and clinics, respectively.
According to eyewitnesses, a motorcycle attempting to pass the truck lost control and ended up underneath it. The motorcycle was pulled alongside the truck, and the resulting sparks of fire caused an explosion that impacted the entire community, killing many people and causing significant damage to buildings and property.
