The Suhum District of The Church of Pentecost has organised a retirement service for seven officers who have served the church for several years in various capacities.

The glamorous service, which was held at the L. A. Nyarko Memorial Sanctuary on Sunday, January 15, 2023, was officiated by the General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, assisted by the Suhum Area Head, Apostle Patrick Aseyoro, and the Suhum District Minister, Pastor Daniel Okaakyire Ameyaw.

The retired officers were Elders Daniel Owusu Kissi and Franklin Oduro, who served for 28 and 20 years, respectively.

The rest were Deaconesses Patience Asiedu, who served for 30 years; Dorcas Obeng Lartey, Victoria Armah and Mary Siatey, each serving for 28 years, as well as Margaret Asare, who also served for 20 years.

In his remarks, Apostle Kumi-Larbi urged Christians to serve God faithfully irrespective of their assigned roles in the church.

Speaking on the theme; “May the Lord Reward You,” Apostle Patrick Aseyoro noted that God is faithful and a rewarder of good works.

Using Genesis 15:1, Hebrews 6:9-12 and Ruth 2:11-12 as his Bible references, Apostle Aseyoro indicated that when a Christian serves God wholeheartedly, He rewards him accordingly, saying, “Our work on earth will never go unnoticed.”

Apostle Aseyoro expounded that some people expect others to acknowledge their good works but in all things, God is sovereign and will reward at the right time. He prayed that God will replenish the time and resources that believers commit to His service.

The Area Head ended his sermon by eulogizing the retired officers for their meritorious service to God and humanity. He prayed for God’s blessings full of divine health for them.

Elder Daniel Owusu Kissi, on behalf of the retirees, expressed his sincere gratitude to the leadership of the church for the honour bestowed on them.

Present at the service was Mrs. Rose Kumi-Larbi, wife of the General Secretary, among other personalities.
