Apostle Mike Kwame Etrue and his wife, Mrs Ernestina Etrue, have retired from active ministry in The Church of Pentecost after three decades of dedicated full-time service.
The retirement service, held at the Central Tabernacle in Koforidua, was officiated by the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Dr Eric Nyamekye.
Preaching on the theme “Meekness and Rest,” Apostle Dr Nyamekye praised Apostle Etrue for his integrity, humility and selfless commitment to the work of God.
“Sometimes when a person leaves an organisation, they leave a huge vacuum in the organisation. Apostle Etrue is such a man. His integrity and selflessness was pure. We pray God will give us many replacements like him,” he said.
Drawing from Matthew 5:3–11, particularly the words, “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth,” Apostle Dr Nyamekye explained that biblical meekness did not mean weakness or passivity.
He described meekness as strength under control and encouraged Christians to respond to provocation with calm restraint, humility and trust in God.
He also urged believers to abandon pride, pretence and excessive self-interest, saying such burdens robbed people of inner peace.
“Jesus calls all of us to rest, and meekness is His method. We weary so much when all we need is rest with Jesus. Come home to Jesus and rest,” he said.
Apostle Etrue began his career with The Church of Pentecost in 1981 as a Senior Accounts Officer at the church’s headquarters. He later served as Finance Manager from 1988 to 1991 and as Finance Manager for the Church in the United Kingdom from 1992 to 1996.
He entered full-time ministry in 1996 and subsequently served as a District Minister in several parts of Ghana, including Obuasi South, Kumasi Miracle Worship Centre–Ahinsan and Kojokrom.
In 2009, he was appointed a missionary to Guinea-Bissau, where he served until 2014. He was later elevated to the office of Apostle and served as Area Head for the Suhum, Kaneshie and Koforidua Areas.
In 2020, he was elected to the Executive Council of The Church of Pentecost, serving a five-year tenure on the church’s administrative body.
The service celebrated the couple’s years of sacrifice, leadership and commitment to the ministry.
