The Chewele Assembly of The Church of Pentecost has dedicated a newly constructed church building, marking a significant milestone in the transformation of a community where fear and uncertainty had, for years, affected development and the confidence of residents.
The dedication of the building on August 13, 2026, brought to fruition a journey that began in 2020 when the assembly was established under the leadership of Pastor Ebenezer Awuku.
In its early years, members of the Chewele Assembly worshipped under a mango tree, with rainfall and other weather conditions often disrupting church services. Despite the lack of a permanent place of worship, the congregation remained committed to the growth of the church.
A major breakthrough came in 2024 when the District Minister took steps to secure land from the traditional leadership of the community for the construction of a church building. The request was graciously accepted, paving the way for what has now become a historic development for the community.
Following consultations with the Sawla Area Head, Apostle Frederick Obboh, and his wife, Mrs. Joana Mina Obboh, the vision for the project began to take shape.
Through their encouragement, prayers and commitment to the advancement of the work of God, support was mobilised for the project. A significant breakthrough came when a couple, who have requested to remain anonymous, made a generous donation that provided the resources needed to commence and complete the building.
Construction officially began in March 2026 amid doubts about whether the project could be successfully completed.
The completion of the building is particularly significant for the community, where several development projects had reportedly remained unfinished over the years due to fear and deep-seated spiritual concerns.
However, what began as a vision became a reality within months, culminating in the dedication of the completed building to the glory of God.
Speaking at the dedication service, Apostle Frederick Obboh encouraged members of the assembly to remain committed to evangelism and soul-winning.
Drawing inspiration from John 1:29–42, he highlighted the example of Andrew, who, after encountering Jesus Christ, went in search of his brother Peter and brought him to Christ.
Apostle Obboh stressed that an encounter with Christ should inspire believers to reach out to others with the message of salvation.
The Area Head further emphasised that the new church building should not merely serve as a place for members to gather for worship, but as a centre for evangelism, discipleship and community transformation.
The facility is expected to support the efforts of the church to win souls, transform lives, strengthen families and bring hope to the people of Chewele and surrounding communities.
