Sawla Area, SOM Coordinator Celebrate International Day Of The Girl Child

In a significant step to empower girls beyond the church walls, the Women’s Ministry of the Sawla Area, in collaboration with the Schools Outreach Ministry (SOM) of The Church of Pentecost, has celebrated the United Nations’ International Day of the Girl Child.

This year’s event was observed on October 11, 2024, under the theme, “Girls’ Vision for the Future: Unleashing the Girl Child for an Impactful Future.”

The Sawla area, led by Pastor Frederick and Mrs. Joana Mina Obboh, organised a special event at the Pentecost Preparatory School, Bole aimed at reaching out to young girls and promoting holistic development.

The event was graced by the National Coordinator for the Schools Outreach Ministry, Pastor Frank Mensah Tandoh, who shared an inspiring message titled, “Hadassah: The Model Woman,” based on Esther 2 and 4.

He stated that God has a divine purpose for all persons. He explained that just like the slave girl Esther who later became queen in Babylon, God has a plan for each girl’s future (Esther 2:5-7).

He, therefore, entreated young girls to take responsibility of their life by honouring the beauty God has given them to keep themselves pure for Christ and their future husbands (Esther 2:9). He further advised them to be obedient and respectful to their parents, guardians, teachers, religious leaders, and also embody hard work, modesty in dressing and prioritize their spiritual growth through regular Bible reading and prayer.

The pupils were led in a prayer session by the Area SOM Coordinator, Probationary Overseer Isaac Brobbey Boadu, resulting in 30 students making the decision to accept Jesus Christ into their lives.

Each girl received essential items, including sanitary pads, exercise books, pens, mathematical sets, and devotional guides from the Schools Outreach Ministry.

Special guests at the event included Deaconess Angelina Boerima (Sawla Area Women’s Ministry Leader), Pastor Godfred Osei-Frimpong (Bole District Minister), Deaconess Cecilia Gakpetor (Bole District Women’s Ministry Leader), Elder Nathan Kwasi Goloto (Headmaster of the school), staff, among others.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Schools Outreach Ministry and the Sawla Area Women’s Ministry for their generosity and the time spent empowering our girls.

‘National All Leavers Summit’ Gathers Over 3,000 School Leavers In Greater Accra

The much-anticipated National All Leavers Summit has taken place, with over 3,000 Senior High School (SHS) and Junior High School (JHS) leavers in the Greater Accra Region in attendance. Other centres across the country also saw a large turnout.

The maiden edition of the summit, which was held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, had it main venue as the Kaneshie Worship Centre of The Church of Pentecost and over 100 auxiliary centres across Ghana under the theme, ‘Raising a New Generation in a Society of Declining Moral Values: Equipping Them for a Brighter Future’ (inspired by Daniel 1:8 and Psalm 100:4)

Pastor Frank Mensah Tandoh (National Coordinator of the Schools Outreach Ministry) stated that many school leavers often overlook the stages that follow their education. ‘Immediately after school, there’s a sense of euphoria that can lead them to forget there are still other stages of their lives,’ he noted.

The SOM Coordinator added that the collaboration among the organisers was designed to ensure that young school leavers can align with their God-given destinies while steering clear of societal vices.

In his welcome address, the Kaneshie Area Head and Executive Council Member of the church, Apostle Samuel Osei Asante, highlighted the summit’s role in addressing pressing questions leavers face today.

He remarked: ‘The theme of this summit cannot be underestimated, especially in this contemporary age when young people are confronted by multiple social vices.’

Apostle Asante urged participants to embrace godly values and principles, emphasising that building up the next generation requires collective effort from parents, teachers, and community leaders.

The event featured a powerful sermon by Rev. Derick E. Koomson, CEO of Scripture Union Ghana (SU) in which he asserted: ‘When you begin with God, He will see you through.’

While acknowledging the overwhelming challenges facing today’s youth, Rev. Koomson lamented the moral decline in society and called for a generation of spiritual renewal to confront these evils.

He encouraged attendees to reject sin and accept Jesus Christ as their saviour, emphasising that true success comes from relationship with God.

He called for unity among all stakeholders in nurturing young leaders capable of making positive contributions to society.

Patrons of the summit were also taken through key lessons that will help them succeed in life by Elder Paul Kofi Mantey, Managing Director, Ecobank EDC. They also had a breakout session where they were taken through the chances available to them on the next stage of their academic ladder.

Also present were Pastor Dr Felix Dela Klutse (Director, Pent Media Centre), Dr Kwabena B. Tandoh (Deputy Director-General of the Ghana Education Service), Pastor Nillo Arthur (Kaneshie Area SOM Coordinator), among others.

The day’s event aimed to equip Christian digital missionaries with modern evangelism techniques through digital media.

Dr Paul Nsiah, a senior lecturer at the University of Cape Coast, opened the summit with a sermonette, urging Christians to utilise digital platforms for evangelism.

He highlighted the slow growth of Christianity, just 0.1% increase over the last decade. He emphasised the need for greater digital outreach, referencing 1 Corinthians 9:22-23.

Mrs  Mary Bawa, Project Manager at the Cyber Security Authority (CSA), addressed the cyber threats facing online evangelism.

She cited Matthew 28:18-20 to underscore the potential of technology in reaching global audiences but warned of risks like phishing, hacking, and ransomware. She advised using multi-factor authentication, backing up data, and avoiding personal details for organisational accounts.

Mr Maximus Ametorgoh, Lead Facilitator and CEO of the Institute of Digital Marketing, described social media as the new mission field.

He recommended building personal websites, running effective email outreach, creating virtual congregations on social media, and using mobile apps for outreach, referencing Psalm 68:11.

Digital World Is New Evangelism Space – Youth Director Reveals

The Youth Director of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Ebenezer Hagan, has called on young Christians to aspire to become digital champions, revealing that the digital space has become a new frontier for ministry.

According to him, God is inviting believers to join Him in this space, where the potential for Kingdom impact is immense.

Apostle Hagan said this on Monday, September 23, 2024, during a day’s summit dubbed, ‘Digital Champions Summit 2024,’ organised by the Great Commission Movement of Ghana (a non-denominational Christian group) at the Trinity Theological Seminary in Accra.

The event was aimed at training digital missionaries for the advancement of the Kingdom of God.

Addressing the participants, the Youth Director stated: ‘The digital world is the new space for ministry, and God is waiting for leaders to join Him in that space.’

He described a digital champion as more than just a proficient tech user, saying, ‘A digital champion is an individual who is strong, competent, and proficient in the use of technology, but most importantly, they are strong Christians. They know that in the Christian frame, they are ministers.’

According to him, digital champions understand their role as more than mere consumers of content but see themselves as vessels through which God can bring transformation to the digital world.

In a time of rapid technological advancement, Apostle Hagan pointed out that digital platforms have increasingly become influential in shaping society, fostering connections, and creating online communities.

He highlighted the many challenges in the digital space, such as misinformation, cyberbullying, mental health issues, and the risk of addiction.

The Youth Director, however, assured them that as digital natives, they are uniquely equipped to navigate the rough terrain.

While recognising their inherent ability to use technology for good, he stressed the need for them to leverage their technical skills and platforms for ministry, thereby turning challenges into opportunities for evangelism.

Apostle Hagan believes social media is a powerful tool for outreach, discipleship, and disseminating the Gospel.

He encouraged young Christians to take up blogging, podcasting, and content creation as means of spreading the word of God. He, however, cautioned that becoming an effective digital evangelist requires more than just technical knowledge.

‘To be a true online media evangelist, you must be spiritually grounded,’ he said, adding, ‘Develop a strong prayer life, immerse yourself in the word of God, and ensure that everything you post, share, and engage with on social media reflects your Christian values.’

In addition to spiritual maturity, Apostle Hagan stressed the importance of acquiring digital skills such as content creation, social media management, and even coding.

‘We must be innovative in how we share the Gospel online. Let’s use the tools of this age to engage the world, while always aligning our actions with the teachings of Christ,’ he stated.

PENSA-KNUST Rural Evangelism Yields 1,778 Souls; 2 New Assemblies Opened web

PENSA-KNUST Rural Evangelism Yields 1,778 Souls; 2 New Assemblies Opened

The Pentecost Students and Associates (PENSA) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), in collaboration with the Konongo and Bekwai areas of The Church of Pentecost, won a total of 1,778 souls during a recent rural evangelism activity.

Of these, 1,563 were won through the main evangelistic activities, and 215 were won through outreach to schools.

Consequently, 577 individuals were baptised in water, and 492 received the Holy Ghost baptism. The evangelistic activities also led to the opening of two new assemblies: Patriensa Kolas Assembly and Konongo Ekoso Assembly.

Rural Evangelism is an annual event organised by PENSA-KNUST to provide its members with an opportunity to spread the gospel by proclaiming the second coming of Christ in rural areas. It serves as a means to prepare and send students as ambassadors to impact the nations.

The six-day program started on Tuesday, August 27, and ended on Sunday, September 1, 2024. It was themed “Only Jesus Saves,” drawing scriptural inspiration from John 14:6 and Acts 4:12.

The student missionaries (referred to as militants) engaged in a twenty-one-day period of fasting and prayer to spiritually equip themselves for the task.

Training sessions were held for the leaders of various groups (Commandants) and their cooks (Kitchendants) to provide them with the necessary skills for the crusade. The church also organised an all-night prayer session to fervently pray for the evangelistic activities.

The militants were deployed to 22 centres: Adumasa, Akronwi, Amakom, Ampaha, Asankare, Atunso, Bompata, Breku, Juaso, Kokofu, Konongo, Konongo Extension, Konongo Freetown, Ntinanko, Manso Abore, Manso Adubia, New Koforidua, Obogu, Patriensa, Poano, Tontokrom, and Tumeabu/Adaeto. Each centre had a commandant who served as the overseer and leader of the student militants present.

Aggressive evangelistic activities began on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. The militants engaged in dawn broadcasting, one-on-one evangelism, mini-rallies, film evangelism, drama evangelism, house-to-house evangelism, ghetto evangelism, sports evangelism, school outreach, Bible studies, follow-up, and intensive prayers for souls won at all centres.

As these gallant soldiers evangelised to populate the kingdom of God, God glorified Himself by working miracles and healing among the inhabitants of the centres. For instance, a native of Breku, who used a walking stick, received instant healing after being prayed for. An elderly woman in Poano, who could neither stand nor sit upright due to severe waist pain, was able to stand after prayers.

Furthermore, testimonies of instant healing were received from various centres. These included a woman who had been walking with a stick for four months and a stroke patient who both walked after prayers (Manso Abore).

A woman with a pelvic fracture, as stated in her medical reports, received healing after militants prayed with her (Adaeto). A stroke sufferer in Dunkrah, a town near Ampaha, also experienced the healing power of Christ. A man in Adaeto who had erectile issues for a year received healing moments after intensive prayers.

Notably, a man who had been bedridden for almost a week due to a stroke was instantly healed after prayers (New Koforidua). A hearing-impaired father regained his hearing after prayers (New Koforidua). A woman who could not walk properly because of pain in her legs was healed after prayers (New Koforidua).

A woman with spinal and waist issues was able to walk to the glory of God in Konongo. A man with walking difficulties, a woman who had not walked without aid for five years, and a woman with spine problems all received healing in Obogu. Two women in Juaso, who suffered from walking difficulties and severe pain in the right eye, respectively, also experienced miraculous healing.

In addition, a 67-year-old man with a peptic ulcer confirmed his healing with a medical report a day after receiving prayers (Adumasa). A woman suffering from an excruciating migraine for two weeks received instant healing during a Thursday evening crusade at Adumasa. An asthmatic patient in Adumasa was also healed. A woman in Bompata received instant healing from severe leg pain to the glory of God.

“For about 13 years now, no more than 12 souls have ever been won at Peminase during crusades,” said the Presiding Elder of Peminase.

Through the young militants, the Lord won 16 souls in Adumasa, 14 of whom were baptised in water and received the Holy Ghost the same night, to the glory of His name. An ex-occultist, drug addict, and scammer named Kofi Jeffery gave his life to Christ.

The Resident Campus Minister, Pastor Jonathan Ebo Quaye, and the Principal Executives of PENSA-KNUST visited the centres to assist in the baptism of converts in water and the Holy Spirit as the need arose.
