Pentecost Convention Centre Fumigated, Disinfected

The Church of Pentecost has disinfected and fumigated the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC) which was used by the Government of Ghana as a COVID-19 isolation centre at the peak of the pandemic.

Speaking at the sidelines of the fumigation exercise, Pastor Ben Noye, the Centre Manager, said that the church willingly gave the place to the State to quarantine patients as part of her contribution to the progress of humanity.

He added that it was part of the church’s social responsibility to the people of Ghana.

Pastor Noye said the Centre had since March this year received patients, discharging the last patient at the end of October.

“No activity has taken place here after the last discharge hence the engagement of the Zoomlion Company Limited to fumigate and disinfect the entire facility. We want the public to know that the Centre will be opened very soon for activities,” he said.

He added: “Three main blocks namely, Patrick Asiamah block which is Block B, George Woods block which is also Block C, and the Block D which is the John Bart Plange block, were used during the pandemic. All the auditoriums were closed except the three main blocks were used.”

Apostle Samuel Nana Yaw Agyei, immediate past Centre Manager, on his part, said that the Centre is known worldwide for holding conferences. The prime motive of the Centre, he said, is to create a conducive space for prayer.

“During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Centre recorded zero death case, zero infections, and zero transfer, which is a big record. And if someone needs a place for holding a conference or programme, the Centre is the best place to visit,” he said.

Mr. Jonas Wonder, Vector Controller, Zoomlion Company Ghana Limited, said it was using good quality and safe Viro-oxy multipurpose disinfection substances, conducive for indoor spraying and Chlorine, which is for outdoor spraying.

He said the second phase of fumigation and disinfecting would be done before the place would be officially opened for public use.

New Tafo PWD donation

New Tafo District Supports Person With Disability

The New Tafo District of The Church of Pentecost has presented a deep freezer refrigerator to Madam Akosua Nyantakyiwaa, a Person with Disability (PWD) in the church to enable her to make ends meet.

The district has also granted two brilliant but needy students in the church scholarships to enable them to pursue their university education.

The package was presented to Madam Nyantakyiwaa on Sunday, December 6, 2020, at the M. K. Yeboah Temple.

According to the District Minister, Pastor Seth Dwamena Asante, Madam Akosua Nyantakyiwaa, a deaf-mute in the district, was given the support to empower her financially without inconveniences.

Elder David Kwadwo Amoako, the District Coordinator for the MPWD, said that the church seeks to reach out to all needy persons to raise them from destitution to be useful persons in the body of Christ.

“She is not the only one with disability, there are a few others. This is just the beginning of what we are doing. We want to extend our arms to all PWDs in the church to nurture them for Christ,” he said.

The eldest daughter of Madam Nyantakyiwaa, Akosua Akyiaa, expressed her sincere thanks to God and the church for coming to the aid of her mother with a life-transforming asset. She said the package will go a long way to expand her mother’s table-top trade.

“She used to have a small fridge for selling drinks to school children. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she is unable to sell again and she will really benefit from this asset,” she said, adding, “We are very grateful to The Church of Pentecost for this assistance. May the good Lord continue to bless this church to be able to reach out to others like my mother.”

Pastor Dwamena Asante revealed that sign languages will soon be employed in the church with disability-friendly facilities to make church service conducive for PWDs.

The Church of Pentecost’s commitment to possessing the nations as agents of transformation is not only about preaching the gospel message but assisting the underprivileged in society and extending the fellowship of Christ towards them.

The Ministry to Persons with Disabilities (MPWD) was established to build a strong ministry to PWDs through effective evangelism and discipleship, as well as create an enabling environment to promote their spiritual, emotional, and personal growth in order to impact the church, their communities, and the nations.

No Hindrance Can Prevail Against The Glorious Church – Apostle Nii Tackie (4)

“No Hindrance Can Prevail Against The Glorious Church” – Apostle Nii Tackie

The Wa Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Daniel Nii Tetteh Tackie, has asserted that no hindrance can prevail against a glorious church.

He said this in a sermon titled, “No Hindrance,” during an ordination service that took place on Friday, December 11, 2020, where a total of 170 officers, comprising 36 Elders, 75 Deacons, and 59 Deaconesses were ordained.

The ordination service was part of a two-day Area End-of-Year Prayer Retreat held under the theme, “May His Eye Watch Over the Glorious Church.”

Reading from Ezra 5:5, Apostle Tackie explained that God moved the heart of Cyrus, a heathen king of Persia, in his first year to put into writing the urge to reconstruct the temple in Jerusalem and to see to the provision of the needed resources.

However, he said, during the days of kings Xerxes and Artaxerxes, stern oppositions arose against the reconstruction of the temple. According to him, when Darius became king of Persia, another opposition was staged by governor Tattenai and his associates who petitioned King Darius to stop the reconstruction of the temple. He stated that because of the edict of King Cyrus during his first year, the hindrances could not materialize.

Apostle Tackie established that the distractions did not prevail because the “eye of their God was on the Elders of the Jews, so they did not stop them” – Ezra 5:5. He intimated that the eye of God is upon His glorious Church to possess the nations and that no distraction or whatsoever can stand against the Church.

Citing the journey of the Israelites from Egypt to the Promised Land, Apostle Nii Tackie added that not even the Red Sea could hinder God’s plan for the Israelites. He was emphatic that neither the COVID-19 pandemic, persecution nor hardship can distract the Church, because the eye of God is upon the Church.

He reiterated that the only distractions that can prevail against the church are when the members are divisionary, proud, and engage in ungodly acts.

He called on ministers, officers, and members of the Church to eschew all manner of sin including sexual immorality, financial unfaithfulness, pride, among others. Rather, they must be fervent in prayer, Bible study, fellowship, evangelism, among others.

Apostle Daniel Nii Tetteh Tackie also reminded the newly ordained officers that they have been called to service and not merely in name.

be gracious in speech

Be Gracious In Speech – General Secretary Advises Christians

The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, has advised Christians to be very circumspect in their utterances and be gracious in speech.

Apostle Kumi-Larbi noted that words are very powerful and should never be uttered carelessly since it could have an adverse impact on the listener or hearer.

“We all know that words can be cruel because they have power. We have all been hurt by what someone said to us. We know that words have staying-power because we carry wounds from our youth where someone said something negative to us or called us by a derogatory name. And even now, we still feel some pain whenever we think about it.

“So, if we know this, why are we still so careless with our words?  Why do we easily spew negativity instead of using the power of words to build ourselves and those around us up and be a positive influence?” he bemoaned.

Reading from 2 Corinthians 5:17-18 and Ephesians 4:29, the General Secretary reminded Christians of their new status in Christ – new creations – and urged them to make conscious efforts to shrug off the old sinful nature in order to reflect the nature of Christ in their conduct and particularly in their speech.

“From the very moment we are regenerated (born again), the old-self is to be put off and should remain nailed to the cross, and we are to ‘put on the new-self.’ This is because we have become a new creation with the new life that is found in Christ,” he explained.

He urged Christians to effectively put on the new nature by making a decisive and deliberate effort to adopt godly attitudes and behaviours while abstaining from carnal things. He also advised them to rid themselves of worldly vices and to stop deceiving, defrauding, or harming others. “We are also advised against sinning when anger rises in our heart, and deal with wrong motives and harmful emotions swiftly,” he added.

Apostle Kumi-Larbi, again, asserted that “Christians do not just read God’s word and study its content in order to expand our knowledge of Scripture, but are required to obey and apply scripture to our everyday life,” adding that “when we walk in the unity of the Spirit and live in the holiness of heart, we mature in the faith, grow in grace, and produce the fruit of humility; patience; gentleness and love.”

He, therefore, encouraged Christians to desist from the use of foul and abusive language because it does not nourish (improve) the lives of their hearers, creates deep wounds, causes unpleasantness in the environment, a sign of spiritual illness or immaturity, and, more importantly, because they will render an account to God on every word that is uttered carelessly. (Matthew 12:34-37)

In the place of unwholesome talk, he advised Christians to always utter gracious words that would edify themselves and those around them.

“As Christians, the words we speak should flow from a heart that is centered on Christ and should minister timely words of grace and encouragement to others,” he said while noting thatanother aspect of gracious speech is the Christian’s ability to resolutely defend their faith in gentleness and respect.”

This passionate appeal by the General Secretary was contained in a sermon titled “Let Your Speech Always Be Gracious And Seasoned With Salt,“ which he delivered on Sunday, December 13, 2020, when he fellowshipped with members of the Osu Central Assembly of the church.

Other scripture references used by Apostle Kumi-Larbi include Ecclesiastes 10:12-14, Proverbs 15:1-2, Proverbs 15:23, Proverbs 18:21 and James 1:26.
